We tried Jimmy Changas last night 02/09/2016, we arrived around 6:45pm and were seated promptly. We ordered a grande mango margarita(FANTASTIC), fish tacos, and pollo marisco. The restaurant while busy was not packed with patrons so we were curious as to why our food was taking so long(about 30 min), then the manager informed us that they had to remake the marisco(what happen to it we don’t know). 10 min later our food arrived(so about 40 mins total), it appeared delicious but looks can be deceiving the fish tacos were ok a little salty, the marisco with charro beans were(TOTALSALTLICK). I’m sure my blood pressure was off the chart after the 1st bite, my wife tried a bite and her eyes started to tear, after guzzling down our water we told our waiter that it was distasteful. My wife could only eat a portion of her meal while I had to send mine away, the marisco was removed from our bill but both dishes should have been, IMHO don’t send food to the table if it’s not properly prepared and if a problem occurs fix it! Jimmy changas is on the list of places I will Not try again…

Good value — EXCELLENT Green Salsa and chips, Very good beef fajitas. Probably a top 10 for Beef Fajitas. Service was a little slow, and it was a little loud in there, otherwise it would’ve been a 5-star.

Wow this is a perfect place for a family to enjoy a night out. The food was great and our server was very attentive. The playground out front is clean and perfect if you have to wait for a table. Oh yea margarita’s delish. Enchiladas amazing. No detail missed in the polished Mexican Fiesta in the modern concrete jungle.

This neighborhood Tex-Mex restaurant has a wonder atmosphere. The deco is fantastic. Alright… this is what I recommend from Jimmy Changas. If you get the Spanish egg rolls, ask for the sauce to be substituted to the bar-b-que chipotle sauce. It brings out the flavors in the egg roll compared to avocado-ranch dip. If you want a meal that is sea food oriented. I ask for the«OFF-THE-MENU» meal known as «El Capitan». What is the El Capitan? It is a dinner meal(for 2) that includes fajitas: beef, chicken or both that are first set on the plate. 4 large bacon wrapped, cheese stuffed jumbo shrimp are placed on top. Then a sauteed white wine sauce with crawfish tails is placed atop the fajitas and lightly brushes the jumbo shrimp. The sides I get are beans, rice or grilled veggies. Also comes with a condiment plate of sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, diced tomatoes, and pieces of sliced carrots. You will leave Jimmy Changas stuffed with a big smile on your face as you walk out the door with your free ice cream cone.

Definitely not a place I would return to. No exaggeration, Taco Cabana is much better and staff is friendlier. Some may think I’m too harsh, however, this is Houston, Texas folks. Home of some of the best restaurants in the U.S. Competition is fierce, and you’ll get one shot. If no good, I won’t be back and I’ll tell others.

First time here. Great fajitas and food all around. The staff have it together and very attentive without being overbearing. Jeff, the manager, came by and said hello. No wonder this place is doing well. People were lining up out the door at opening time. We live in Houston but will definitely make this our spot for Tex-Mex when in Katy.

We eat here all the time. Food and drinks are great. Service is very good but get here before 7:30 if you’re not ready for a 30 – 45 minute wait. If coming later that is okay. They have plenty of outdoor seating and a nice patio.

We ate here for the first time today and I have to say I was very happy! The wait was ridiculous so we sat at the bar and Homer was our bartender. He was informative without being annoying and was on top of everything! The salsa was decent, queso was delicious and our entrees were fantastic. I had the dirty tostadas with beef fajita and she had the carne guisada. The negativity on here must be the result of not knowing what to order or just bad luck. I would recommend this place to anyone and we will be returning.

This is my first visit to Jimmy Changas. I am always looking for some good Tex-Mex, so I decided to try this place out. My favorite place is Gringo’s. So I can’t help but compare this place to Gringo’s. We arrived at lunch time on Sunday and the wait was pretty short even though the place was packed. The places is beautiful. It is very beautifully decorated both inside and out. There is a fountain outside and a play area for the kids. This is a big plus for my kid. We were seated in a u-shaped booth. Plenty of space and was very comfy. The chips and salsa were delicious and tasted a lot like Gringo’s. Our waiter was very friendly. However, it took too long to get our food. Maybe the kitchen was backed up. Therefore, I can’t give it 5 stars. Anyway, I ordered the Saltillo plate and it was delicious! The food tasted very fresh and was high quality Tex-Mex. My wife had enchiladas and my son had chicken nuggets. My other two guests both had chimichangas and loved it. They also have sweet tea, which Gringo’s does not. I know big deal, right? It matters to me. They also have free ice cream like Gringo’s. The prices were reasonable and didn’t break the bank. I will definitely be returning here. Maybe I will upgrade it to 5 stars in the near future…

My mama was wanting a nice chicken soup, as a good daughter, I should have made one for her BUT… I was kinda lazy… sigh…BUT, she is my most prized possession and wanted nothing more than to make sure she got a nice hot soup. My daughter, who is a foodie, recommended I go here and try their Mexican Chicken Soup, being this is more a Tex Mex place I could not imagine their soup being anything to write home about BUT, we went and WALA… the soup was actually pretty great! Its pretty loaded, a lot of chicken, and some veggies, tortilla chips, etc, but most of all a great flavor! ALMOST, as if I had made it myself! Well, not really, theirs is much better or as my lil niece says«much mow bettow»!! Thanks JC for being my saving grace with my mama!

I stay at the nearby Hilton often for business so Jimmy’s is very convenient. I have never been disappointed in the food, always tasty. The margaritas are very good and can be potent! I’d highly recommend this restarant if you in the area. The only negative from my last visit was my server. He had the irritating habit of calling me «boss». Thank you, boss, another drink, boss, ready for your check, boss! This is very unprofessional. I am not his boss, if I were he would get a lesson in customer service and respect! Thanks, boss…

Great service tonight and the food was spectacular. If you want to have some authentic Tex-Mex please check out Jimmy Changas you will enjoy. The avocado stuffed with chicken is the absolute best I have ever had

This is my second time visiting this Tex-Mex chain. I’m honestly surprised it’s rated so well. My girlfriend wanted me to give it one last shot so off we went. As always I kinda look at the green sauce and red sauce for the chips as a baseline as to how good places like this are. Well the chips aren’t even warm, the green and red sauces are okay. We ordered the queso for appetizer, again, okay. I ordered the chicken/beef fajitas for one. They came out burnt… Our waiter knew immediately that something was wrong, sent the plate back, manager came by and asked to cook it again, I politely declined. I’ll have to say Taylor our waiter was very friendly, so if you do come here ask for him. Other than that if you want the best fajitas ever, Lupe Tortilla is where it’s still at. Sorry Jimmy Changas

Been going here for a while now. It is always crowded and you always have to wait at least five-ten minutes to be seated. The parking lot is continuously overrun and the service can be mediocre. The quality of the food is good, but they cheap out on the tortillas!

There is nothing special about this restaurant except the kids play area(the sole purpose of our visit) and it was pretty disappointing as they had a very tiny play area — way smaller than a community park even. If you plan to visit this place for the same reason(kids), then better go to a different place — NOTWORTHTHEIDEA. Service was no so good as we ahve to wait for 35 minutes and after getting seated, we were made to wait for 15 minutes. After the food was served, there was no cutlery for which we were made to wait for 10 more minutes which was a bad start. Food ordered — CHANGOPLATTER 2 Chicken taquitos — Chicken was hot and good and didn’t have any spice Donkey wings — Very spicy chicken wings(only for a spice addict) Cheese empanada & chorizo empanada — nothing special Tex-mex eggrolls — Was very good and served hot Gorilla peppers — The best one in the whole platter, cooked to perfection CRISPYCHICKENFLAUTAS — 3 The same meat mixture from the empanada was rolled back again into the FLAUTAS and it was boring, the server could have given a hint or suggestion. CHICKENNUGGETS Served warm and nice for the kids

Dined here again because this is where my coworker wanted to eat #lesigh she convinced me to try this one dish, Pollo el Dorado. And I have to say it was pretty darn good! Table service was much better. I think it was wack the kitchen served my coworker and me different style tortillas in the same container though. If it was my mother I was dining with eh might have overlooked it but home girl didn’t go to the facilities. Coworker also stated she didn’t like other dishes here, only that one. So if u go, try the Pollo el Dorado. The sausage makes it a bit too salty(but I’m salt sensitive anyway) but otherwise delicious!

First time here and I will definitely be returning. I was here with my 2 year old daughter and 3 year old niece. The jimmy Jungle was a great bribing tool for the kids to calming finish their meal. Our waiter was Omar and I know I will be personally asking for him next time I return. I ordered the fish tacos and Omar recommend I get the mahi mahi tacos as they’re more flavorful. He was right. The place was clean, the staff was timely and helpful, and the jimmy jungle was a great bonus. We never received our free ice cream that I read about though. That would’ve been nice for the kids but overall I’m a happy customer. Only downside, there were people smoking right next to the jimmy jungle where there’s a sign that says its a smoke free environment and I saw staff walk pass witnessing that and nothing was done to stop it. I left afterwards as the smoke was blowing over to the kids.

I really liked the Jimmy Changas near my work(La Porte) when it first opened. I loved how it offered some items that most tex-mex places don’t have. I loved that it wasn’t just typical tex-mex I could get anywhere. Oh well, I guess being different, even just a smidge, doesn’t pay the bills. So the mushroom enchiladas are gone(sadface). The queso at my favorite location has huge pieces of cilantro and herbs and fewer peppers and onions in it than at this location. The queso at this location tastes like at every other tex-mex place. So everything I started going to this restaurant for, tex-mex that is a little different, was stripped from it. When this location first opened, I commented on the difference between the queso and the manager assured me it was the same at all 3. Well I went back to my work Jimmy’s and it was still as it has always been. When this place opened I honestly thought I was going to gain a ton of weight since I love the LaPorte location so much. Well after eating here 3 times since they opened, I think my weight loss will not be endangered. I will still go here when my friends want to, but otherwise I can go anywhere in Katy and get the same food.
