I got the Woody burger while my wife got a churro waffle. After taking one bite, we quickly realized that this food truck is something special. Taste, ingredients, and portion size were all great. Staff was very friendly and prices were extremely fair… especially since the food is some of the best you will ever taste!

My friend and I came here for breakfast, determined to see what all the Unilocal love was about. I loved that there is a pod of food trucks right in the downtown Kapaa area where all the shops and businesses are, with dedicated benches for the pod area. Nom Kauai was one of the only food trucks that was open for breakfast. My friend ordered the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich which is fried chicken sandwiched between Belgian waffles, with bacon, fried egg and maple syrup and butter. I wanted to try a burger, so went with the HI Style, which has a grassfed beef patty, pineapple compote, swiss slice, lettuce, tomatoes, teriyaki sauce and SPAM, which is primarily the reason I ordered it! I had to get my Spam fix before leaving Hawaii. We also shared a Loco Moco over tots instead of rice, which we specifically requested and they were happy to do. Also, if you check in here on Unilocal, you get a free drink, which is from an assortment of pop and juices. It was a behemoth of food. Our order was ready about 15 minutes later from ordering and we knew we were in over our heads. The breakfast sandwich and burger were piled high with toppings and the loco moco was a meal in itself. My friend and I both split our sandwiches, so we could try everything. And I have to say I liked the Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich better. The meat on the burger was a little too overcooked, and the teriyaki sauce was way too much. I kept tasting sweet teriyaki sauce, especially with the pineapple compote addition. When I did get bites of the Spam though it was bomb. The Ultimate Breakfast Sandwich seemed to be better proportioned and the butter wasn’t overly slathered on like with the burger. I liked that the waffles were fluffy and crispy, which helped hold the fried chicken. But the skin on the fried chicken easily fell apart. The loco moco tots were good, but again, the beef patty was overcooked. The gravy though, be like daaanngg. Nom Kauai is definitely a place to check out. But next time I would like to try a more simple or classic kind of burger since that’s what this truck is known for. Or maybe just eat the tots.(Story of my life.)

I’ll be honest, I loathe the word«nom.» I don’t know why, it sets off my gag reflex but I looked past that to the zillions of great reviews looking for new eats. When you’ve been going to Kauai for 20 years, you see places come and go and some of the places that go are old faves. We are glad to see the food truck culture is here to stay and honestly, NOM is the best we had during this stay! When you retrieve your chicken and waffles and you are being circled by young chickens waiting for you to drop something, you want to politely tell them«you don’t want any part of this, trust me!» Or you hope they don’t jump on the table(which they often do) and yell«Mom!?» with chicken tears in their eyes. Your bretheren didn’t die in vain younguns… that was some of the best chicken and waffles we’ve ever had!(And we’ve been to Memphis… Gus’ y’all!) Not only was the chicken great but honestly, it is HARD to find waffles with good taste and texture and this was on point. Pair it up with the pineapple butter and syrup… sigh. Heaven. It was so good that when we unexpectedly had an extra day on the island, we knew we had to stop. This time it was burgers and tots. Holy crap man. Woody and tots are stil swirling in my noggin. Sooo good and filling. Oh and we checked in and got a free can drink, so don’t forget to do that. While I’ll never be a fan of the word«nom», it now has a place associated with it befitting of the usage.

Exceptionally friendly and fast service. Devoured the egg sandwich-hands down the best one I’ve eaten. Having Kapaa beach as our lunch backdrop didn’t hurt either! A must stop!

My wife and I have been coming to Kapa’a for about 10 years. The food trucks at the north end of town have been growing in number. Nom Breakfast & Burgers is worth a visit. We split an egg sandwich for breakfast. It’s scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and lemon chive aioli on a brioche bun. The bacon was thick and tasty, the aioli was fantastic and really enhanced the bacon. It was nice to sit at their picnic table under an umbrella and watch the waves and sun. The area tends to get quite crowded for lunch but you can amuse yourself by watching the antics of the chickens and baby chicks as well as other smaller birds.

The Nom burger was tasty and the fries were perfect. Seating is on benches, food truck style and there were several chickens running around which made for a perfect Kauai experience!

NOM has some amazing food. Ask Thomas for the«transformer» it’s not on the menu. Kids love the loco moco and the tots. The gluten free waffle and chicken waffles are tasty too. Can’t go wrong.

Das right gang! I was NOM! NOM! NOMMING today! On a rare occasion, I do travel to Kauai… and I must say, it’s a nice change of pace from going to Maui all the time. Since I knew I was going to be doing some work in the Kapaa area, I looked on Unilocal for places to eat in the Kapaa area. Low and behold, I found a place called — NOM Kauai. Nom Kauai is not a restaurant… but actually a food truck business. Where is Nom Kauai located? I found Nom Kauai nestled within a food truck community, just next door from Otsuka’s Furniture Store. I could see there were 5 food truck businesses that sold various types of food. They were — 1. Nom Kauai —(Burgers & Breakfast) 2. Chef George of the Jungle —(Gyro…maybe Greek?) 3. Al Pastor —(Mexican Food) 4. Organic Shave Ice Truck 5. Thai Food, sorry I didn’t see the name of the business Upon walking up to the NOM truck, I looked at the board menu pasted on the side of the truck, and decided on a Taro Burger($ 10.00). Don’t worry folks, I am not a vegetarian, but decided on something of the lighter fare today. I also ordered some onion rings($ 5.00)…hey gotta have something nasty to offset my healthy taro burger, & a bottle water($ 1.50). What can I say about my taro burger? OUTSTANDING! Simply delicious! The taro patty was seasoned to perfection, and the burger came with fresh tomato, lettuce, onions, pickles, and a creamy nom lemon chive aioli sauce. I also loved the bun that they used for their burger… I wonder if it was freshly baked by Nom? The bun was«bakery type» quality… so fresh! The onion rings were also done real well. I liked the fact that the onion rings were really crunchy! Although I did not eat any meat today… I totally enjoyed my taro burger! I will probably come back here in the near future to try the Nom Burger, as I heard they use Kauai grassfed beef. A few tips gang… 1. When you check into this place on Unilocal, you get a free drink… so don’t forget to check in! 2. All food is made to order… so a possible wait for up to 15 minutes may occur… but believe me folks… ITISTOTALLYWORTHIT!!! 3. There is free parking within this food truck community. There were at least enough space to fit 6 to 8 cars, and if the lot is full, you can park on the street. Hands down! A great burger joint! You folks should really open a restaurant! Lol!

This food truck is AMAZING!!! I can not tolerate gluten… at all… and I was SOOOO very happy that they offer a gluten free dessert waffle AND a gluten free bun for sanwiches. I devoured a Taro burger on the gluten free bun, and my tummy was in a happy place all day. Plus, my now husband(we were on Kauai getting married) was beyond pleased with his fried chicken waffle sandwich. I have to admit as a foodie, I was a bit jealous of that sandwich. They make every meal look appealing and are all picture worthy. VERY important as an avid IG foodie ;)

Had the chicken & waffle. It was extremely good. Not a huge fan of the pineapple butter and like my chicken beading with a little more spice. The chicken was extremely tender and and the service was very friendly. I will be back to try the homemade biscuit and gravy.

I stumbled upon this gem on instagram the day before I went to Kaua’i for work. I looked to Unilocal to decide if this food truck was as amazing as the pictures or if it was a pass. The Unilocal reviews were awesome so I decided to take my coworkers here for lunch! I had a really hard time deciding on what I wanted to eat, so I asked for their recommendations. The Nom burger came highly recommended. It was so delicious! One of the major differences is that they use grassfed Kaua’i beef. Definitely one of the best burgers I have eaten in a long time, plus I added bacon! I also decided to complete my lunch with truffle garlic parmesan tater tots! The food really lives up to their name, Nom, because that’s all I want to do there is NOMNOMNOM!!! After seeing churro waffles on the menu, we decided to share one for dessert. After the first bite, I did not want to share! It was that GREAT! I can’t explain it’s awesomeness in words, but I highly recommend saving room to try it for dessert. Not only was I impressed with the food, but also the owners. It is rare now days to find people that are genuinely passionate about the food they are cooking. They put so much effort and care in to cooking and preparing each item. My coworker got the wrong burger at first, but they were nice enough to let her keep the mistake and gave her the correct burger with tater tots! They really care about customer satisfaction! I will be a repeat customer every time I go to Kaua’i and I can’t wait to go back!!!

This is a fun little food truck on the side of the road in Kapa’a. We couldn’t pass it up after seeing that the entire menu looked sinful and delicious. We ended up getting the loco moco atop a generous bed of tater tots(they ran out of rice so this was the next best option). The egg(which is cooked to your desired done-ness) tasted very fresh. I also really like the beef patty(Kauai grass fed beef :). The tater tots were also good. My only complaint is that the whole plate got way too salty about half way through eating it… that’s probably why it’s meant to be on top of rice, not tots. But if I were to drive past this place again, I would definitely stop for a nice burger.

All i can say is Best Food in Kapaa Crispy Chicken sandwich amazing Local Kauai beef burgers are juicy tender and delicious. Woody Burger dripping with onion straws, bbq sauce cheese and a yummy fresh bun. Be prepared for a mess … Jump in the ocean after. Waffles are crisp flavorful and great with an egg or Chicken, or try both. Always get a special if they have. Loaded tater tots always fun. Did not care too much for french fries, kinda boring and not crisp enough. Onion Rings tasted frozen prepackaged. Onion Hay stacks on burger are amazing and should be sold ad a side, lose the generic onion rings please! Service fast and people are sweet. Call ahead if you are heading to beach.

My bf and I decided to go check out the food trucks in the lot. Didn’t have much expectation as since I haven’t been able to find any food that has reasonable for the quality and price. While my bf ordered fish tacos from the other truck«al pastor,» I was craving something morning filling. I got the woody burger with a side of onion rings and I wasn’t disappointed at all. My bf and I shared the burger(way too big for me) and he was really satisfied after having half of the burger. Can’t complain when you have a thick juicy patty with fresh jalapeño, shoe string onion, on a soft brioche buns and mouth watering bbq sauce. Great onion rings to go with that juicy burger. ^_^ This is our last day in Kauai and what a great way to end our trip with a awesome meal. If only I knew better, I would’ve been eating from this place since the beginning of our trip! You have to check out this place if you’re looking for awesome food, great service, amazingly fulfilling for your belly in Kauai!!! One of the best meal for less bang for your bucks than most places on this island.
