Amazing and authentic Mexican food! Growing up near San Diego, my Mexican food standards are quite high. They have hand made tortillas! The shrimp tacos are my favorite. The best part is that the tacos on corn tortillas are gluten free. Even the refined beans are worth mentioning. I ate there 5 out of 9 days during my vacation. Yes, it’s that good. You must try. You will not be disappointed.

I love El Taco Feliz. How can you not love a place called Happy Taco?! And I certainly feel happy when I eat here! I have eaten their comida twice recently and was super pleased both times with the flavor and quality of the food. They hand make their corn tortillas to order and everything seems fresh and made with love. All the ladies who work here are super sweet. I’m happy to have Taco Feliz in my hood and hope they are successful and continue to offer awesome Mexican street food to the community of Kauai for a long time to come.

My go to place when I need some fast, tasty Mexican food. And in Kauai the options are weak. Nice folks. My favorite is the shrimp burrito

El Taco Feliz is very unassuming, and if you blink as you roll through Kapaa, you’ll miss it– just a tiny truck wedged between a much larger, gaudier Mexican restaurant and another large building. But my GF and I noticed it(aided in part by its goofy name) while passing through town, and we stopped on a whim and got the special plate of the day(shrimp taco, fish taco, rice + beans). I would say that having spent a week on Kauai and two days in Oahu, this was probably my favorite meal of the whole visit. Among the other restaurants we tried on those islands, we found it was possible to have cheap, authentic, or tasty– but probably only one, and a maximum of two, at a time.(And sometimes zero!) This was the only place I can think of that hit all three. I just wish we had had a chance to go more than once; there were many other delicious-looking items on the menu that I would have loved to try, given how delicious my first experience was. Should we ever make it back, hopefully they’ll still be there.

Best street tacos! Fast and really fresh. Authentic flavor with homemade tortillas. Finished my two chicken tacos and had to go back for seconds.

This truck has not moved in years food truck have to have a commercial kitchen they have to return to the dump gray water and clean the truck right every night in Hawaii… that’s one reason I am rating this location so poorly .The other reason is the food is just filler rice and beans is all I got in a carne asada burrito it had very little beef this is cheap hippie food maybe cost them a buck or two to make. The number one reason I am writing this review is I have been sick for hours from eating that carne asada burrito all I can say is if you like farting this the food for you. I give it a thumbs down. on my $ 12.00 carne asada burrito

Best tacos in town! The family that owns the business are nice and sweet people. Don’t bother going to the other high priced mexican place. This place is a little yellow food truck that is located across a place called Bambo Works. They sell other mexican food besides tacos as well. Highly recommend coming here.

We got a vegetarian burrito in here the other night that was really awful!!! The vegies were grilled but mostly raw and not that good. Plus it was very small. I would not recommend this restaurant because of this. Just because one orders vegetarian does not mean it should be crappy!!! Hey people step it up here!

The grilled mahi mahi tacos were superb! They come on homemade corn tortillas! Yummy salsa made it awesome. Very happy with their food. Best fish tacos we’ve found so far in kapaa. Even their beans and rice are top of the line. The rice grains are plump and tasty.

Delicious taco spot in Kapa’a. We loved the mahi-mahi tacos with rice and beans. The fish was very tender, and not too fishy tasting. They fry the corn tortillas on the tacos just enough to give them a little crunch and hold in all the food. The salsa was also very yummy. We were just coming back for a hike and very thirsty and they provided ice water which was perfection. Would definitely come back!

This place is the bomb! This was my first time in Kauai(I usually hit up the big island). I was here in March and the weather wasn’t that great so I spent alot of time eating. I was only here for 3 days and I ate here 3 times. It’s just a food truck on the main strip. The first time I ordered the mahi mahi tacos(it was on the special board), it was sooooo ono! the fish was cooked perfectly with some cabbage and it came with a bit of sauce(a type of mayo?), it was seasoned perfectly. It was so simple but so delicious. The tortillas were I believe homemade and were again really good. They also have a red and green chile sauce that were both awesome. It was owned by a Mexican lady and her daughter. They were both very nice and friendly. The second time I came I ordered a chicken burrito and on my third visit I had to order the fish tacos again. Damn I can eat those everyday! If I ever come back to Kauai again I’ll be back here for sure, this place is the real deal!

Everyone enjoyed their meals here. Great prices and lots of options. We loved the carne asada and fish tacos and the kids proclaimed the quesadilla the best they ever had. I know. But some places mess them up. :) Homemade tortillas were the highlight for sure.

There are many New Mexican food places in Kapaa. This truck has some of the better food and options around. Unfortunately it is next to a large Mexican food restaurant, but Mariachis pales in comparison. Happy taco has insanely good spices and sauces. They have a unique flavor and I always try to support them since it seems like a small family run operation. Def stop by their little patio and eat here or call to order out.

Has potential but tuna was overcooked, and I found their sauce overpowered instead of enhanced.

Since we were tired of overpaying for lackluster dinners on the island, we decided to try the taco truck and PRAYED that it would be memorable. OK, not memorable. It is a taco truck. BUT passes my taste buds and we may come back. We had the carne asada tacos, vegan tacos and cheese quesedilla. The tacos were great, but for the price of one in Hawaii, you can get two in San Francisco. The quesedilla wasn’t memorable, save the calories. Boyfriend was disappointed he didn’t get to try the ceviche.
