Minsky’s Pizza

I haven’t eaten Minsky’s pizza in some time and decided to patronize them today. I must say they have some extremely good pies! I have had most of the top rated pizza joints in KC and I would vouch and say Minsky’s belongs in the Top 5. I had the prime cut pizza on traditional crust and an order of wings.
The Pizza:
Top quality meat in every bite on this pizza. Who can argue with getting a strip of bacon on every slice… Not this guy! The cheese was smooth and not too gooey. The crust was about average. no complaints just solid texture and it definitely held all that toppings.
The Wings:
I wonder why Minsky’s wings are not mentioned in the best wing conversations in KC. This are not some frozen pre-​sauced drummettes. These are the real deal. Full wings, char-​grilled and fried with delicious sauce. Next I go back, I more than likely going to order just wings… they were that good!

Didn’t get a chance to eat because after 10 minutes of waiting around at the hostess area we decided to seat ourselves-​while 3 – 4 servers were busy laughing and talking amongst themselves. When someone finally did walk by we asked for a server, she looked dumbfounded, walked away and no one else came to wait on us. After 5 minutes, we left. Restaurant Probably half full. Usually enjoy the Leawood and Main St locations but this one forget it.

We ordered delivery with lasagna, spaghetti and spicy meatballs, and hot wings. The lasagna had over cooked noodles, and the tomato sauce tasted pretty bland, almost like school tomato sauce. The noodles were the same but the noodles weren’t cooked enough. Lastly the wings. One word, AMAZING! The reason why I rated it at 3 stars. They had tons of meat, and the sauce was great! If I just ordered the wings, this place would be rated at five stars! Overall it was good, but without the wings it wouldn’t have been at 3 stars! But hey! We were hungry, and anything tastes good when your hungry.

Yes Minsky’s Pizza is first-​rate. I stop by today for lunch they have a pizza by the slice deal it’s about three dollars a slice and that’s a good deal for quality pizza. It’s been a long time since I ate really good pizza. And that’s what Minsky’s serves I had a slice of cheese pizza one slice of Italian sausage pizza and one slice of barbecue chicken pizza total cost including tax was $ 9.99 I think the 2 ½ star rating is a little surprising the restaurant is clean and well decorated the pizza is outstanding the service is a little slow and lacks friendliness thus the loss of one star but it’s definitely a four-​star place I’ll come more often they had free Wi-​Fi and I did some work on my Computer while I had lunch.

The pizza is not worth the attitudes of those who work there… been there a few times and each time we have encountered at least one snotty waitress. Just go down the street.

We ordered gyros with beef and lamb. It came with fries or tabbouleh salad. You could also get sweet potato fries for an extra charge. I’m not sure what was off about the gyro, but I think it was the cucumber sauce. It was ice cold and had no flavor as far as I could tell. The meat was OK The tabbouleh salad was rather bland. My companion’s fries were the typical frozen variety. We ordered coffee and water. It took quite a while for us to get them because they had to make the coffee. Not sure what was holding up the water.
We used to love eating here when they first opened, but I can skip it for another six months or so. Overheard a server say something about manager turnover. Hope they get their act together soon.

Why didn’t I read the reviews first? We spent $ 80.00 on what ended up to be 4 cheese pizzas and 1 nasty combo. Sad pizza experience for 5 adults and 4 kids tonight.
We are in KC visiting and was told that Minskys has great pizza. We called on a Tuesday evening at 5:50 and we’re put on hold for quite a while. Took our order of 5 pizzas and got a $ 6.00 off online coupon. Went to Minskys to pick up & the girl at the counter said that a GF pizza was messed up and being remade. The girl was asked about the order and she was short and condescending. 20 minutes later the pizza was done and all 5 taken home. Just opening the boxes we were horrified to find little to no meat on 3 meat pizzas. The GF Chicken Italian Sausage had very little meat (in pictures) with little sauce and crust was over cooked. The Billy’s Base Stealin BarBQue had zero meat on my slices of pizza. I flipped over the cheese and saw no meat on 1 slice and 3 strings of pulled pork on my larger slice. (In pictures) What a disappointment. It was like eating a greasy cheese pizza with one slice of pickle with BarBQue sauce… not appetizing!
Now the cheese pizza, well the picture speaks for itself. Gross!!! The cheese must have been burnt into the crust.
The other GF was a combo and just thrown together with a pile of hamburger on 1 slice. The pizza was cut so unevenly it was just ridiculous.
The last was a Jumbo Combo and I didn’t eat it, but again I didn’t see meat and looked unappetizing with very little toppings and a thick layer of greasy cheese.
Minskys pizzas are definitely not good and not worth any more than a generic frozen pizza from a grocery store.
I came home to read reviews and not even going to the other Barry Rd location (from what I read) would have made this experience with Minskys pizza any better.

This place is all hype. The pizza is pretty good, but nothing special. It is, however, very overpriced. It could easily cost you over $ 40 to feed a family of four if you are dining in. It’s not worth the money — but if you have to go there, at least the pizza isn’t bad.

The pizza is always pretty good, but the service is terrible. Typically they have only one waitress working the entire restaurant. This means you wait unnecessarily for your order to be taken, food to be delivered and usually only get refills when you ask for them. Worse yet is waiting and waiting for your check. I have been visiting this location for over 10 years, in the last 5 years the service has gone down hill, it doesn’t appear like they have a manager working and the location is understaffed.

The service here was great, and we like the small location, without the craziness of the location to the west.
The food is just as good, which means it beats most other places near us. It’s worth a look.

Whether Kansas Citans have time to worry about who’s got the best pizza after wondering about all of the other culinary delights the city has to offer («culinary delights» chiefly of the rib, pulled pork, burrito and steak variety, but you won’t hear me complain) wasn’t really my aim when stopping by Minsky’s .
It makes no difference whether it’s the «best» in the city or merely «really, quite good»: Minsky’s offers a good takeout pie.
Because I had the luxury of thinking of the place as takeout, it didn’t bother me that the dining room was a bit dated or that there weren’t enough TVs to watch a game while having pizza and drinks with friends. I also didn’t mind feeling a bit confused as to whether or not they were open when randomly stopping by on a weekday night. In my mind, this was takeout which puts the emphasis on the pie itself and little else but.
The crust is a slightly sweet hand-​tossed (other varieties were offered, but I was told that hand-​tossed is the de facto), the sauce was neither heavy nor overly acidic and the cheese was generously portioned. The highlight of the night was the Italian sausage topping, a bold, spicier variety that easily bested more herbal, mild varieties served in most places.

This Minsky’s is by far the best in the metro. Service is always top notch and they will split checks for larger groups, unlike the others.

For Kansas City, Minsky’s is where you want to go. I’m personally not a fan of having my pepperoni under the cheese so I suggest asking for it on top if that’s how you like yours. It doesn’t crisp when underneath. This location is hard to find and it’s closer to their larger store by zona rosa. I give 3 stars as sometimes the waitresses aren’t the most motivated and friendly. Much better than Pizza Hut, dominoes or papa johns.

Why?
The dough was not thick or thin but it was just not good. It could have been cooked a bit more as it was doughy. The cheese was bland and not stringy at all. The sauce was at least decent. The large was more like a medium and overpriced for what it was. If this is the «BEST» Kansas City has to offer in pizza, I suggest that all the pizza parlours take a visit to either Chicago or New York where I am from and take a lesson from the corner pie shop.
There isn’t much too say about the pizza and this will be one of my short reviews. I prefer going to the big chain Papa John’s where I know I will get better pizza, with better ingredients. And no, I do not work for Papa John’s.
Gotta keep looking.

I love Minksy’s, but I do not like this location as much as the other one on Barry Road by Zona Rosa. There is only 1 TV in the whole place! The one by Zona Rosa has tons! I was disappointed because I wanted to watch the world series or some other game.
I came in here on Monday night ¹⁰⁄₂₄. The place was empty. Me and my date sat at the bar. He has never been to Minksy’s. He ordered a beer and I ordered a Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri. A few minutes later the bar tender who was a girl, came back and said that the blender was broken. Ha! Well that was all that I could of ordered since I am not 21 yet, i am close to turning 21. I was mad that it was broken, since she is the bar tender, she should know that it is broken. There are a lot of drinks that are made with a blender. So… i got a stupid Mr. Pibb. It was pretty lame, I came there for a drink and I had to get a soda.
After she gave me the soda, she never came back to check on us. He finished his beer and 10 mins after he finished, she finally came back over to us and asked if he wanted another, but we wanted to leave.
I will probably not be coming back to this location!

I think Minsky’s has the best pizza in Kansas City. The good pizza is the only thing that keeps me coming back. The service at Minsky’s is not good. I’ve been a loyal customer for years and have always felt the service sucked. Everything from being completely ignored in the store, to always being put on hold immediately when calling in, to having pizza show up 1.5 hours after it was ordered.
I’ll keep going back — its good food and since I no longer have any expectation of decent service I’m rarely dissapointed.
I rate the pizza ¹⁰⁄₁₀. I rate the service ²⁄₁₀.

Minsky’s? Gotta love it. This place has excellent pizza and friendly service. The Primecut pizza, which has all the meats, is outstanding.
