Blue Lani is a small boutique located on Hoolai Street in Kailua. It is just around the corner from Chad Lou’s coffee shop, and across the street from Hardware Hawaii. There is no private lot, just metered street parking. It is also mauka of Timmy Tom’s and Boston’s Pizza. There are a few steps up to the door. Once you enter, you are greeted by the clerk or the two blue birds in a cage by the door. The store seems to cater to our many island visitors, but there is more to the store than your typical Kailua tourist items. It carries clothing, jewelry, accessories, shells for decorating, and candles. I’m sure there is more, but these are the things I usually zoom in on. If you are visitor, there is a variety of Kailua items for you here. There are bags, lip balm, pouches. They even have bundles of the ‘Kailua” branded items. There is clothing, such as tanks that have ‘beach’ themes or pineapples for you to remember your visit to our island state. If you are kamaaina, there is a discount for you. Clothing is separated by color. There are shorts, dresses, tees, and shirts. Casual wear and dressier items are all in the racks. There is a sale ‘room’ in the back by the dressing rooms, so make sure to check that out. The jewelry is located in various areas in the shop. There is a display case by the register and two across from that. There is a wall that has other items up for to check out near the door. They have inexpensive pieces, as well bigger dollar items such as sunrise shells and healing stones in bracelets or rings. I visit Blue Lani about once a month. The inventory changes somewhat, but not to where I actually notice too much. BUT that’s because I am checking to the jewelry. I am very picky, so I like to see what new pieces or designs people are making now a days. My munchkin comes in to check out the decorative shells. This past visit, I did purchase a bracelet for a Christmas present. I was informed that there will be a new rewards program for customers. To sign up, you just enter your phone number. It is a point per dollar. On the screen, it tells you how much points equal what you can get. I can’t remember what you get exactly, but you can ask if you go in. I have opted for text messages, and have already received a 20% discount on my next purchase good for 2 weeks. Awesome! Great service, cute jewelry, and rewards program? Yay for me!
