Food is amazing, but I live fairly close down the street(which I didn’t realize until I looked them up on here) and the delivery guy was almost 45 minutes late according to the Seamless estimate and then following a call to the restaurant was then 15 minutes late. Apparently the delivery guy being late is a recurring problem according to the other reviews??? He was nice and he apologized for being so late. Can’t complain now that my food’s here and good and still warm, but please do better.

Writing review on Unilocal because it seems that seamless got rid of the ratIng function on their app(???). Food was great! My complaint is the delivery. The delivery man called me when he was still five minutes/several blocks from my address. I guess he wanted me to come and stand on the street to grab the food. Once he actually arrived at my address, he called me non stop from his car. Get out and Ring the buzzer!!! Stop calling me!!! I understand they don’t want to walk all the way up to my fourth floor unit(which they are suppose to do regardless) so I’m happy to meet them in the buildings lobby/foyer. But I’m not happy to have them call me from blocks away, thus making me stand on the goddamn street and walk up to their car. I’ll no longer be giving advance tips. Earn your delivery tip by delivering correctly!!!

excellent fresh food reasonably priced. If you are traveling to Jersey City I suggest you give them a try. Top quality Indian buffet food

Generally speaking, this is my usual go-to Indian restaurant. It’s conveniently located on Newark Ave. and easy to get to by bus or car. I’ve never had trouble finding street parking(either metered, or limited time parking in the residential area). It’s very spacious, beautifully decorated, and the employees are very friendly and helpful. The owner is particularly attentive and usually greets my boyfriend and I whenever we come in. And of course, the food is delicious! Whether you go for the buffet or order by the plate, I’ve never had a bad dish. I always leave full and satisfied, and definitely get my money’s worth. The only negative experience I’ve had with them was ordering delivery. We waited nearly 2 hours for our food; of course it arrived pretty much at room temp on the verge of cold(which is a huge pet peeve of my boyfriend’s); and the delivery person didn’t even have singles to make change so he ended up with a bigger tip than I intended on giving. When we called to complain, they gave us some excuses that they were shorthanded and the service is usually not that slow. If they had told us this in any of the first 3 calls we made prior to our food showing up, I would’ve been more sympathetic. So while yes I would go eat there again, this was definitely my first and last delivery order from them.

Only 3.5 stars??? MAAAANNN This place is Yummy to the yum yum! My dude and I order from here about every 2 weeks for delivery. The delivery takes at least an hour(what Indian restaurant doesn’t take 45 minutes?) but it is worth it each and every minute. I just order when I am driving home to save the pain. I get the shrimp Tikka Masala and garlic Naan. Dudes… Dudettes… Yummy they give you SO much sauce for dipping, shrimp for eating and the Naan is full of garlic and flavor. Hands down, My go to place when I need a bit of Indian in My life. Big fan AND everyone is always nice on the phone. the delivery guy is even the sweetest! *does a happy dance*

Nice ambience with awesome food. It’s probably the best Indian restaurant in this area. Reasonably priced.

Worst restaurant ever! My food took 2 ½ hrs to arrive. Called the restaurant 3 times and all they said«your would be there in 2 mins». After it finally arrive didn’t get an apology from the delivery guy nor from the restaurant. The food was super salty, every single item was salty. The naan was undercooked. Worst restaurant ever, wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy!

They are always late. There deliveries are always delayed by 30 – 40 min more than what they say they will do. The food is good, but there are other good restaurants in Jersey City too. There delivery timeline and service is just unprofessional.

I have to say I am never disappointed with this place. Tonight was my third time coming here and not only were we happy … we were so full! The food was great. We had chicken korma chicken tikka masala and tandoori, rice and garlic naan. I know a lot of chicken. All of the food was awesome. we all shared each others food. Service was good. Ppl were nice especially to my 7yr old nephew. Who also loved the new food choice for the night. What can I say. If you want good food at a decent price this is a great place to try.

The food is always delicious but never in my 6+ times ordering from here has an order been delivered on time or in a reasonable time frame. Always 1.5 hours + to be delivered. If they had a better delivery, I would give it 5 stars because the food is worth it.

Delivered the wrong food. Gave me meat when I needed vegetarian — not expected from an Indian restaurant. Disappointed. WOW! I forgot I had written this review. Same problem AGAIN! Gave me meat when I requested vegetarian. Left out the dips/chutneys. Gave us the flat out wrong items. NEVERAGAIN!

The lamp chops and mango lassi is a must have! But on the other hand, don’t order the murg dum biryani. It doesn’t taste like biryani at allll. The menus are ripped up but the area is pretty decent.

We went with a big group and this time the food is spot on. All the Kebobs were fantastic we ordered lamb chops, malai tikka, & sheikh kebab … All are very good … The curries are also much improved this time.

The food is fantastic, but you have to order it way before you’re actually hungry. Just yesterday delivery took exactly 95 minutes. I’ve ordered the garlic naan, vegetable samosa, chicken korma, and tandoori chicken, and everything always tastes great.

Food was overpriced for the value. It was ok. The lamb vindaloo was not even spicy, and the naan was the smallest portion I’ve been served in this area. Maybe eating in is another experience, but having this food delivered and for my first experience, two stars is generous.

Terrible service. Ordered delivery tonight via online delivery service. Took nearly two hours despite several calls to restaurant and delivery service. Reached the point that our order was cancelled by service only for the restaurant to show up a few minutes later. Food was lukewarm and several ordered items were missing. Restaurant called delivery service subsequently to re-instate the order because they had delivered it but neglected to exclude the items we ordered but didn’t receive. Flavor of the food we received was fine, maybe even good, but by this point who would care.

I think I have a new favorite place in India Street. Though I have been eating my way through India street one restaurant at a time, I somehow managed to miss sampling the food at Chaska until now. Well. I guess«good things come to those who wait» is really true. My experience here was truly amazing. Its not often that you get to see an Indian restaurant with both quality food as well as quality service on that stretch of Newark Ave. The place seemed clean and ambience is good(in spite of the black Gothic chandeliers). As soon as we sat down, we were served with complimentary pappads(I wish I could describe it better to non-Indians but tasty Indian hard bread?! which you break off with fingers and devour is all I can come up with). They were served with 2 chutneys-a mint and a sweet n sour one. We ordered a Hyderabad Dum Biryani, Chicken Makhani(Butter Chicken) and a Garlic Naan. The butter chicken was amongst the best I have ever eaten– in my lifetime and believe me, I grew up eating that! The boneless chicken pieces were soft and the gravy was thick and creamy. Shoutout to the chef-«You are awesome!». Dipping into that yummy gravy with my pillowy soft garlic naan was the highlight of the whole dinner. The Dum Biriyani had the perfect masala taste(though to be honest, I was too much in love with the chicken dish to pay much attention to the Biriyani). I did think it could use slightly more salt. We finished off the meal with an almond phirnee(a watery version of pudding) which was also delicious and a large enough portion to share. The service was awesome and our water glasses were never empty and at any point in time, there was always an attentive server around.(Maybe because the restaurant had very few tables occupied). The owner(I think) came up to the table to check about the food and I always find it a very good sign if the owner cares enough to come talk to patrons. There was a slight mixup in our bill where we were overcharged for an item but considering their genuine apologies and their service till then, I am sure it was an honest mistake. All in all, I was thoroughly impressed and I will be coming back soon! P. S. I forgot to mention that it seems to be a BYOB place coz I did see other people enjoying wine they brought along. All the more reason to come here!

Indian Friend: «When you walk down this street, you are EXACTLY in the streets of India.» Yeah, yeah, yeah… I’ve heard this before, but when we walked onto«India Square,» I was like ohhh ok, this is kinda like your version of Chinatown(everything to me is in comparison to Chinatown), but this street has everything — even some of the BEST Indian food I’ve ever had. This place seemed not too special on the outside, but inside, you got that typical Indian restaurant feel, but without the crazy bells and whistles; come in to eat and have great conversation — that’s what we did. We had mango lassi to compliment our appetizers, which came with complimentary pappadam. We got these amazing street– food like mini poori with the tops removed, and filled with chickpeas, Accompanied these 6 little spicy hidden delights, was a glass cup filled with a spicy, watery-like chutney. I watched my friend take teaspoons of the stuff and drop it into the poori and then — pop — he ate the whole thing! Very fun and SPICY! No bull crap here! We also got vegetable pakora, which I have come to enjoy almost as a tempura, fried treat. This place served it up super crispy — awesome! Main event: Saag Paneer, plain naan, and Dal Makhani. No one was more savory, delicious and spicy than the other! Cooked the way they are fully intended to be, and don’t you pansy out and use those utensils! Use your hands!!! Amazing and delicious! The paneer was cooked firm and had wonderful grill marks, and had just the right amount of spices; a total crowd pleaser! Dessert shouldn’t have been ordered, but we did it anyway — a gulab jamun. I sadly didn’t realize that they were meant to be served hot and boy have I been missing out! I will be visiting this more frequently and intend to work that menu like a belly dancer — round and round and round!
