Nearly traumatic experience that I do consider is specific to myself and my friends but the handling of said experience is what really disappointed me. My friends and I are vegetarian and one friend ordered something specifically sans meat– a calzone. I know the standard reputation of vegetarians and vegans being preachy and annoying, and– whatever. This wasn’t us. We specified to just let us have a meatless, veggie calzone– okay. We instead got one loaded with pepperonis. My bandmate had not only not had meat in 20 years– he’s never had pepperoni. He consumed some and had to vomit. I feel eating out is a luxury– I’m a huge tipper and it disgusts me when people who eat out don’t tip well, for example– but for what you ask for, what you pay, it means something when someone messes up. We called Carmine’s and instead got an impatient, sigh-heavy response. «Look, we’ll send you another one.» Very curt and tangibly annoyed. Alright– but after hanging up, my friend didn’t want it. No problem– I’ll call back. I was greeted with a sigh and palpable impatience. I said, «hey, don’t worry about it” — the response: «Well, HEALREADYMADEIT.» Fine, fine– whatever you say. Then it showed up– 49 minutes later. We put it in the fridge to hopefully give to a homeless person at the PATH Station. The point is, some people take things very seriously whether for spiritual reasons or because they’re allergic. I understand people make mistakes and places are often hectic. It doesn’t matter. So are airports. If I want to go to California and they send me to Finland, should I say nothing because an airport is busy and hectic? This place would have gotten a lot of my money and a lot of return business. Now they won’t.

The Worst Experience Ever!!! If I could give 0 starts I would. If you want your cold pizza in 3 hours or less this is the place for you! We ordered two pizza pies off of Seamless at 11:30am. We chose Carmine’s Pizza Factory because it was one of the first restaurants that Seamless suggested in the area. After 1 hour of waiting I finally called. She said that the order would be there any minute. After 30mins I called back. The woman explained that if would be there any minute and she would call the driver to check in. She kept telling me that the driver was going from Jersey City to Hoboken. As if that is so far. It is max a 10 minute drive. There was no traffic. Finally our delivery guy pulled up at 1:50pm. The food pizza did not taste fresh. It was as if the pizza was left out over night. Anyway, I will never go there again. Rather then offering me my money back they offered me 10% off my next order. Sorry Carmine’s Pizza Factory I will never order from you again and I will make sure my friends and family don’t either. Terrible service! Thanks allowing me to waste $ 45 !

I order twice from here using . The first time an 18 inch Margherita Pizza which I thought was amazing, so I went ahead an ordered it a second time and a chicken parm sandwich. Even though the delivery took 50 mins to an hour each time, the second time was a complete let down. The pizza did not even taste the same and the chicken parm was the standard fare, and nothing special.

Pizza is amazing, sandwiches not so much. Not much to it, for a Pizzeria I expected better. Chicken Parm a bit rubbery, texture was off. Italian sub looked thrown together similar to a 7 – 11. I’ll stick with their pizza, can’t go wrong there, its awesome.

Love the place they have an amazing pizza and a delicious chicken Parmesan but when I went to the place I saw the cashier Putin the slices of pizza with her bear hands and handling the money. At the same time no so happy about it I hope they improve that

Casual little place with good pizza, good for families… and has been consistently good for a couple of years now. The owner Mary is so nice and couldn’t do enough for us while we got together as a family for pizza and sandwiches.

Ordered lunch from here today… they forgot half my order but when I called them, I didn’t even have to tell them the name on the order because the woman already noticed it had been left behind. But instead of calling me to let me know or sending someone else with it, they waited for me to call about it… and then delivered the same food they had originally had ready for me, so it obviously arrived cold. Not to say it was in a timely manner. I would have preferred to have waited for new food since they kept me waiting anyway for what ended up being cold food. Positive is that the portion sizes are good, relative to the price.

Wow, it’s been such a long time since I’ve had good Italian pizza! Carmine’s served up their excellent thin pizza at Newark’s Downtown District Farmers Market. Carmine’s staff were super friendly and helpful!

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. Our usual spot(Rustique Pizza) was closed(Monday), so we decided to give Carmine’s a go, having seen it in passing. We ordered 2 pies, both were too heavy– the dough and cheese were very thick. I’m willing to try a different type of pie and give it one more go.

Really disappointed. I was craving a great pizza. Excited by selecting my own toppings. Easy to navigate options. Don’t order delivery! It took 1hr 30mins and was cold. Tastes fine reheated.

This place is the jam. As a pizza head who knows about 00 flour and oven temps, has a subscription to ‘Pizza Today’ magazine(it’s free, what can I say), and has flown to different states just for pizza, I’m familiar with pizza. When you want that New York style slice, there’s no other place in Downtown JC that cuts the cheddar. Yeh, there’s plenty of places with neapolitan or neapolitan hybrids, even a Louisiana cornbread crust one(not a fan), but this place is the mutz. Last time I was there, the owners sons were shooting a commercial. I think they’ve won some pie throwing contests. It’s nice, and just the right amount of strange, walking in and ordering 2 plains one warm and one hot, sipping on a diet coke, and watching 28 year olds start flinging pies in the air as the doting owner/father politely shoos you out of the scene.

Portion sizes are diminishing as you read this. I usually only get the meatball parmesan here but the other day they gave me a chicken parm instead. The chicken was so thin I could hardly taste it with all that bread around it. For $ 12.60 I expect a decent sized piece of chicken thicker than 1⁄8 of an inch. Guess not.

Ok so i ordered for a second time in a week today. Ordered a 6 piece mozzarella sticks with extra sauce. Only got 1 small container of sauce. Also ordered 16″ pizza with extra cheese, pepperoni and half sausage and black olives. Pizza wasn’t as hot as last week but still warm. Overall it was a decent pizza even if the olives were a bit salty. I thought I had found the perfect pizza in Jersey City judging from my 1st ineraction with them. But maybe I’m wrong, i guess I’ll try them at least one more time before I make up my mind. Gave them 3 stars this time down from 4 stars last time. .if it goes below 3 I’ll definitely be looking else where.

Not very consistent with the quality of the food. Been ordering frequently here for the past month as my job is nearby, usually stick to the same things(plain slice, French fries, chicken park, meat lovers Sicilian slice). The quality and quantity of the French fries aren’t always good. Last time I visited(on Friday) ordered two Sicilian meat lovers slices and neither of them came with meat. Not even one pepperoni. Not only that but they tasted and felt like cardboard. Unfortunately I had them to go so couldn’t say anything about it as it was too late. Might be time to try another place as this one has been very disappointing.

Come on Carmine’s get your act together. Chicken fingers I can forgive, but sending me Pizza soup in a box is unforgivable. Your supposed to be good at pizza.

My go-to pizza place. Your standard pizza shop. They have calzones, subs, pizza by the slice-both New York and Sicilian style. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, good pizza!

Just a regular pizza place. Good service and ok prices. Staff is friendly. Try their buffalo chicken slice, you gonna like it. Sandwiches however, are not that good. It is not usually busy there so it is not going to be a problem for you to find a seat.

The main reasons I like this place: vegan slices friendly owner close to my apartment …did I mention vegan slices? So I walked into Carmine’s the day I moved in to get some lunch for my family and boyfriend, who were helping me move. I saw vegan slices and I knew me and Carmine’s were gonna get along just fine. I don’t consider myself 100% vegan but I’d say I’m a vegetarian with strong vegan tendencies so I can vouch for both the vegan and the regular slice here. The vegan slice I had here was really good – square slice with broccoli, roasted peppers, and Daiya. I talked to the owner and it seems like he’s doing a lot of experimenting with different vegan options, so I don’t think any one type of vegan slice is guaranteed to be there on any specific day, but it seems like there’s always at least one options. When we delved deeper into conversation, he took out a vegan recipe cook he’s been using for inspiration and he told me he’d be happy to make me anything – even a vegan calzone. He also told me and my boyfriend that he’s open to suggestions so I highly encourage any vegans in the Jersey City area to stop in and talk to him about what you’d like. The cheese slice was pretty good too. Now, I don’t have cheese often, but on my move in day I was willing to eat whatever everyone else wanted since, you know, they were helping me out and all. I’d say it’s on par with any other above average slice I’ve had in and around the NYC area. Cheese and sauce were both really, really delicious. My bf prefers a tad thinner of a crust, but that didn’t bother me all too much. All in all a really solid neighborhood spot that I’ll be frequenting whenever I need a quick and cheap vegan slice.

I’ve had spotty experiences here before(sometimes the service can be a little off if younger people are behind the counter but nothing majorly wrong) but the pizza has always been good. Solid Jersey City establishment. Carmine’s has won me over today, though. My husband noticed a vegan pie on display one day and sent me a picture. I’ve asked about it a couple times looking to get a slice and they haven’t had any made. I called to check so I wouldn’t waste a trip and the lady on the phone said they didn’t have any made but would be happy to make me a calzone with Daiya(vegan cheese) and veggies. The calzone itself is really good, and the service was awesome. I talked to one of the pizza chefs(maybe an owner?) about different vegan cheeses and just had an overall great experience. Their normal calzone sauce has meat but I was able to get some pizza sauce to use, which was perfect. My husband enjoyed his meat and cheese slice but didn’t realize it had no tomato sauce, which is usually his favorite part. I’ll definitely be coming back here when I need an Italian food fix and I look forward to seeing what else they can do.

Finally found what I was looking for in terms of good pizza in JC! Big slices, cheesy, hot, with a chewy crust that’s nice and crispy on the outside! Atmosphere: Family-owned, have ESPN playing on the tv. Place your order, grab a seat and a drink and enjoy. Food: I got the buffalo chicken pizza and plain cheese slices, and a chicken parm sub 7″(the half size). Pizza was just what I needed/wanted. The Parm sub was a little lacking in the filling, not enough sauce or chicken, it was kinda dinky. But the sub bread was nice and chewy yet crispy on the outside, far from stale. Next time I’m craving some pizza, I’ll be returning for my fix! Plain sliice $ 2 Special slice $ 3.50 Chicken Parm(half/7″) $ 6.05 Can of soda $ 0.85 Total ~$ 13.00
