This is my go to place to have a business lunch. Good food, good service, and great view. The wait staff are unobtrusive, allowing for a good lunch meeting. Plus they have free parking, and near both the PATH train and Holland Tunnel.

This is the place to experience a perfect waterfront outdoor NYC area dining atmosphere… on a dock full of sailboats and yachts boasting phenomenal views of the Manhattan skyline. Come for the view and enjoy the Italian based seafood. We came here twice this week, once for lunch, once for dinner. Service at dinner was excellent. The experience was delightful both times. Blessed with perfect weather in June 2016, we ate on the patio dockside. The dining room offers floor to ceiling windows on three sides for chillier visits. Crab cake sandwich — delicious. larger than usual crab cake on a chewy, flavorful artisan bread roll accompanied by salad(or fries, I think). so large I had to share. Flat bread pizza — ok. we’ve had better. Iced tea — odd. I wouldn’t order it again. Lump Crab cake as an appetizer — as delicious as the sandwich. a winner. Tuna carpaccio — tasty with a nice combination of flavors. Grilled octopus — my favorite. spiced very well. Pignoli-crusted Halibut — overcooked. disappointed. served with only a few vegetables. Local sea bass — ok… not great. Lobster Risotto with sunchokes — this is the dish to order. perfection. Veal Tenderloin — my husband ordered this. he loved it. Pana cotta with raspberry sorbet and fruit — I wouldn’t order this again. the sorbet was ok. the fruit was not fresh. Dessert trio — this is the dessert to order. everyone loved it. My advice: stay away from the fish and enjoy everything else. Reserve a table in advance! Request a table by the back windows with a view of the skyline! Sample a little bit of everything(except the fish).

Let me not hold back my thoughts and take you on a trip :) Talk about lovely and a few things come to my mind, some women, nature, countries that I enjoy, some more women, some jewelry, and at the time of this review Battello :). Located in Jersey city’s lil waterfront area, this place is all about the views. Battello takes full advantage of its location and views by having a huge open restaurant. The design caters to the views with large windows huge doors to open for outside dining, great lighting fixtures, and pretty much anything to enhance the intimate dining vibe. You will enjoy the views of the NYC mixed with the soft breeze off the river… Or you might not depending on the weather I guess :). Rain or shine gotta enjoy the wine lol. It feels pretty chic in here. So 5⁄5 on the Ambiance Does the elegance of the restaurant transfer over to the Presentation of the food? Yesh! Every dish looked like it could have been made for Food Porn… not that dirty hardcore stuff lol sorry peepz. This was that Elegant take your time and enjoy with your eyes seduction type. Really was impressed with every dish here except for the Lobster Risotto. The Lobster Risotto was pretty bland, I know some people don’t have taste buds that crave spice n zest so they you might enjoy it. The steak was great but nothing that I could say had a rare one of a kind taste to it. Next few dishes were unique and one of a kind. The Egg Fettuccini with lamb was amazing, honestly I could have eat 5 lbs of this. Good thing the portions were well sized. The crab cake was also amazing. I don’t even like crab cakes. My company for the night said it was the best crab cake she had ever had or experienced(all she does is fine dining), Definitely get it if you like crab cakes, you won’t be sorry. Dessert was good. I had their version of a chocolate lava cake. I don’t recall the name but man it was so rich, to where it can taste bitter. To sum it up all of the food here was well balanced and every ingredient played a role in this experience :) Drinks– No… only part I didn’t enjoy. I had the smoking mule and just felt it was too weak for me. Service was great! They do validate parking, if you park across the street. I just wish they had valet throughout the week but hey least you have free parking. We all know you can’t find parking easily in this part of JC. I would definitely come back again. Hope you enjoyed the Review, Pictures, and Videos :)

Pre-fix: be warned! With a large group we had to order the pre-fix which was ok and not uncommon. 3 course for $ 60 I made the mistake of ordering the salad for a starter. It literally was a bowl of lettuce, a few thinly sliced radish, 4 asparagus, and 2 beans. Considering this cost between $ 15 – 20 it was a joke. Could they not have added some other fresh vegetables or nuts or seeds to make it interesting and filling? Interestingly their other option of crab cake was well portioned and very tasty. I would even recommend a vegetarian to order the crab that’s how plain the salad was! For mains it got worse. While the chicken and steak dishes were generously sized, the sea bass was ridiculous. It was half the size of my palm, no exaggeration(see photo)! It was probably a third the size of the starter crab cake! For $ 30 an entrée any equivalent restaurant in hoboken or Manhattan would be much bigger. The dessert was decent tasting chocolate mouse thing but also small. I spent $ 60 before tax and tip and I literally left hungry. Yes, had I ordered other items it would have been different but I couldn’t return here based on my experience. There are too many other options around where for $ 60 I feel full at the end

Been here for brunch once and ordered a takeout, so this review doesn’t say much about dinner service. I will say, however, that when we I’ve been in the area, the place is packed with beautiful people for dinner. Jersey is liking the newly built glamor of the old Michael Anthony’s. Brunch was good enough — my lobster frittata was a little overcooked, and was my partners burger, but we got by. Very attentive service meant our cocktails and coffees were always full, which is what one needs at brunch. Last night, we happened to be on a boat at the marina and called to see if they would prepare some takeout food for us. They were accommodating — within 15 minutes, 4 flatbreads and 2 orders of calamari were ready for pickup. Once again, food was good enough. Calamari may just about edge 4 stars. In all, a good(enough) spot that’s a needed contrast to the bland offerings in the area.

This is my second time attending Battello for brunch. You have a beautiful view of the New York skyline as you enjoy your meal. Who wouldn’t like that?! The waiters were attentive, and knowledgeable of the menu. Some items can be made for gluten free for those of you who have a sensitivity like me. My second time around, I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak was a little more rare than what I wanted but overall it was delicious! This place is must try if you’re in the area.

It was very loud(live music has its downsides), but we sat in the covered patio section and the views wwre awesome. The service was generally attentive, but not very clued in to gluten allergies. For example, the server tried to say couscous is okay, which definitely isn’t true for me. They do offer gluten-free pasta, but I was in the mood for fish. I ordered the halibut without the crumb crust. It was delicious and didn’t cause any reaction. My friends got the crab cake appetizers and pasta dishes, and happily cleaned their gluten-full plates.

The question you must ask upon leaving Battello, what was not fantastic? It has a lively bar scene that attracts the higher-end happy hour crowd. The delicious food keeps the dining room full. Yes, they are closed most Saturday’s, but that comes with the location and the awesome view of the city. Staff was attentive and friendly and the food again is some of Jersey Cities best. It’s the real deal! Absolutely worth making the trip(whether walking or driving) to enjoy an evening out with coworkers or a romantic dinner with your significant other.

Food is dramatically underwhelming, and service is inconsistent at its very best. Save for the views looking out over the Hudson of lower Manhattan, and one or 2 of its cocktails it’s nothing exceptional. But there are few other options in this area so it currently has a bit of a monopoly, and doesn’t really«work» for its customers. Someone, please bring in another higher-end restaurant to this area soon!

The view! WOW! You can see all of lower Manhattan, great view of WTC, and you are surrounded by skyscrapers and yachts in jersey city. They also have free parking! You literally drive through 2 sidewalks to get there… Kind of strange, but free parking is a huge plus for the area. I went here Wednesday for happy hour. Mostly professionals leaving work dressed in suits. I would say dress to impress. Although they did not seem to be enforcing any dress code(I wore jeans and sneakers) They had great happy hour deals. Nothing was over priced like I thought it would be given the location. My bf had calamari that he absolutely LOVED. And I had the flatbread– which didn’t look special but OMG the flavor! I think it had truffle oil on it. Didn’t give you any of the ingredients on the menu. But it def had pieces of bacon! I say this place is PERFECT for a date night or even a large groups of friends at the bar. It is very well decorated with perfect lighting. The bar at the very end of the Pier had lights dangling from the ceiling and they continuously adjusted it as it got darker outside. It wasn’t like they just had a day and night setting– they actually put some effort in and slowly changed the lighting. I even liked the bathroom wallpaper. Black, sparkles & high heels! I might copy for my home bathroom ;)

3.5 Stars for Battello but I’ll round up for the amazing ambiance and skyline views from the restaurant :) Reserve a table in advance! Request a table by the back windows with a view of the skyline! Sample a little bit of everything for a good value — order off the tasting menu. You get to order an appetizer, pasta course, entrée, and they finish you off with a dessert sampler. We were STUFFED at the end of our meals with plenty of leftovers to take home. 1st Course/Apps: First they start you off with bread and this delicious(slightly sweet) truffle butter. Unique and yummy! I ordered the crab cake and my friend ordered the mussels. — Crab cake was alright. Texture and presentation were on point but it lacked a wow factor(3 stars). Tried my friend’s mussels and I was blown away! Delicious and flavorful(5 stars)! 2nd Course/Pasta: As recommended by the server, we ordered the bucatini with pancetta and egg. I WASINPASTAHEAVEN. Smokey pancetta, cream sauce, perfect poached egg, fresh bucatini — yummm(4 stars)! 3rd Course/Entrée: My friend and I both ordered the Lobster Risotto and we were not impressed(3 stars). Texture of the risotto was creamy but you’d get a slight crunch from the risotto being slightly undercooked. Yikes! — Big pieces of lobster meat but the texture was… off(somewhat chewy and stringy). Flavors were mild and a bit boring for a dish that costs $ 30+. Wouldn’t order again but we had plenty to bring home as leftovers. 4th Course/Dessert: A sampler of 4 mini desserts — choc torte, ice cream, tiramisu, and one other that looked like a frosted mini wheat(cream on inside and paired with a poached pear). Choc torte was delicious but VERY rich. Perfectly balanced when you eat it with the ice cream! Tiramisu had way too much cocoa powder on top but still nonetheless fresh and delicious. The«frosted mini wheat» dessert was excellent with the cannoli cream on the inside with the crunch on the outside. A slice of delicious poached pear was the perfect pear-ing haha. 4 stars overall! Service — 4 stars. Attentive, friendly, and personable. Food — 3.5 stars. Some hits and some misses. Ambiance — 5 stars. Beautiful décor and great location. Would love to visit again to try something different from their menu. A great place for a date night! Until next time Battello!

I wish I would have done more Unilocal research as I would have saved this initial dining experience for one which had a better reservation for a window seat because the view is gorgeous! When you walk in you instantly get that high ceiling funky romantic essence of the ocean restaurant vibe. As mentioned, I made a reservation the day of and didn’t realize I should have planned ahead to get seating by the window for the view. None the less, my seat was facing the back section so I did get some of the view. The table we sat at was next to this funky wall/shelf comprised of big glass mason jars with hipster lighting attached. Very cool and I like that I could see the bar BUT be cut off from the section. Unfortunately, these mason jars were not far away, they were literally inches away which bothered me on the sole fact that they could use a good wipe with some windex(you might think I’m crazy but when you have to stare at it your entire meal and you’re also staring at the menu prices you KINDA feel like you’re paying for the pristine ambiance) Although, who am I to judge until I’ve eaten? My husband and I started off our meal with some bread, butter and oil and I would usually never bring bread, butter and oil up in a review as I feel it is implied in a nice sit down restaurant BUT this butter was sweet… and delicious… and flavored with TRUFFLE! I’m pretty sure at the time they removed it from our table there was only like one piece left(my husband is gluten free so I don’t really want to throw it out there but I practically ate the whole freakin basket) For appetizers we decided to split the romaine wedge and the grilled calamari. The wedge was amazing and I loved the presentation. It was one long piece, so much more desirable for two and presented beautifully in comparison to the typical half moon iceberg wedge you get at other restaurants. Our grilled octopus had much more of a char and way better taste than the grilled octopus we had at lighthouse tavern just a couple of weeks earlier. I could have done without the crisped potato pieces I thought it made the appetizer just a bit heavier than I desired. For entrees I ordered the clam pasta and my husband ordered the gnocchi. I suggested he get that dish based on so many Unilocalers descriptions and I’m glad he did! The words do not lie, this gnocchi will MELT in your mouth! Truly the perfect combination of gnocchi with ricotta. My husband did say he felt that the sausage was a bit too salty which surprised me because it was a SWEET sausage. My clam pasta was very good, could have used a little heat and yet again a little less salt but overall the taste was good. We both got the smaller portions of pasta and I have to say they were a bit smaller than I imagined. I don’t know how to judge this though, is it me being truly dissatisfied with my portion, or me being an obese American not assimilating with the true portions of a half serving(for the record I am NOT obese) _all in all a good meal that left room for dessert. We decided to split the warm chocolate torte which I felt is basically the super gourmet version of the the chocolate lava cake from«insert your fave chain restaurant» JUST A JOKE do not compare this decadent dessert to that of a sloppy chain. The dessert was A CHOCOLATELOVERSDELIGHT. It tastes perfect with an equal ratio bite of ice cream and chocolate and the gooey center tastes identical to your favorite brownie batter. I didn’t want it to end but I ran out of ice cream first and without it the dish is just WAY too rich and I forced my husband to take the last bites. Overall this was a great dining experience for the date night/romantical view. I will definitely make my next visit during the day and also in warmer weather so I can enjoy the pier after I’m done dining!

When you walk into this restaurant, it’s hard not to get your breath taken away. The high ceilings and wooden beams/ceiling fans/lights make the space look very rustic and inviting. I remember the views from when this location was Michael Anthony’s — just as beautiful as ever. For the best views, ask to sit out on the patio deck… Don’t worry in the winter months — there are makeshift doors and heaters to keep you warm. And the women’s room is super cool looking with the fancy wallpaper — it’s deep gray matte glitter with black shoe print — it’s really kind of a cool touch. After the décor, it’s the bus boys as the star of this establishment. They were diligent about keeping the table cleared and water glasses filled. Kudos to them. However, that’s about all that is above par for this restaurant. The menu options all sound so great that there’s no single stand out«I have to have this» dish. Then when the food comes out, it’s disappointing, because it really isn’t «I have to have this» — it’s more like, «okay, now I have food in me. What’s next?» Sea Scallop Crudo was a tiny bit too salty, like they added too much finishing salt; but the pancetta bits added a nice crunch. Scottish Salmon was tasty, but there was no crisp when digging into the skin, just soggy. Swordfish was overcooked — pretty easy to do when the filet portion was so thin. The wait service didn’t really help. First tip off was our server put his pen away before everyone at the table was able to give their order — pay attention we weren’t done! But no big deal… However, I ordered a wine pairing — One wine came out 5 minutes before my dish came. The other wines came out 5 – 15 minutes AFTER the dishes came to the table. Ahem, but I thought the wine was supposed to be PAIRED with the dish… It doesn’t really help when the food is gone before my pairing comes to me. So come for the views and maybe happy hour. They have some pretty decent specials for happy hour($ 5 drinks, ½ of apps) from 4-close Monday — Thursday. But the views can’t save the food.

The best restaurant in Jersey City! Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere, views and service. I have been there many times and everything is always delicious and impeccable. The atmosphere is rustic Italian and the views of the pier are very romantic. I would highly recommend the Chef’s Tasting so you can try a little bit of everything and the Shipwreck drink, so good.

You are really paying for the view and the only reason I gave it two stars was because of that. The views of NYC are really spectacular but the food and service is just okay. Service: When we first arrived it took about 15 minutes for our waiter to even greet us and right off the bat he was rude and could care less. It took another 20 minutes for us to get our drinks and about 45 minutes just to get the check. Food: The bread they served us was still frozen in the center. The short rib & fontina francobolli also tasted a tad undercooked. Cocktails: they were okay but nothing to phone home about Let’s just say I will probably not be back.

Beautiful space, great service and pretty decent food. Service-5 Star Venue-5 Star Food-3.5 Star Pricing-5 Star We had my baby shower here the Sunday of the Blizzard of 2016, and the Batello special events team, Dominique & Jade were incredible at working with us to help make sure the shower was still able to happen despite guest cancellations due to snow/travel difficulties, changing the head count and moving the shower time to later so that guests had time to dig out/travel to the shower. The SERVICE was fabulous. Our server was super nice and accommodating(including cleaning up spilled cereal from our 2 years old guest). As our guests were arriving she was quick to to offer drinks and take their coats. The hostesses were really nice and greeted our guests warmly. My friends who were hosting the shower had nothing but nice things to say about how accommodating Battello was with helping them set up. They found a nice display for our cake and re-arranging tables that were supposed to accommodate 30 down to 14 and then to accommodate 17(as people who we thought weren’t going to make it made it to the shower). The also helps that they valet park due to all the snow that made the validated parking at The Westin practically incommunicable. The VENUE is huge! High ceilings, wonderful layout that provided us a private area while allowing the guys to be at the other side of the restaurant by the bar so that they had their own space. The FOOD was served family style and it was pretty delicious for«events» food. We had the biscuits, french toast, organic salad with chicken and calamari. It’s pretty decent and compared to other restaurants along the water in the Newport area, the food is pretty much all the same… good standard fare but nothing out of this world. The PRICING was pretty spot-on for the area and the venue. We were more than happy with the price and did not feel like we were over charged. While the ladies were at the shower, the boys were at the Battello bar enjoying the Broncos vs. Pats game; my husband paid for his friends and(since it was his first time at Battello) he said that the food was good and the price was really good as well. All in all it was a wonderful experience and we look to many more family events being hosted at Battello.

Wish I could give it 6 stars!!! Attended a family wedding there this weekend during the blizzard of 2016 when 90% of all places shut down in that area. The owner/manager went out of there way to ensure this this event happened from picking up his workers at their home to finding a replacement offficaint so that the ceremony could happen. The staff was excellent, the food was wonderful, drinks superb, the ambiance during the blizzard was spectacular. I will return and want to give them a huge shout out for there efforts during this wonderful night! They saved the day!

We went here for our anniversary and had a really good dinner, food was excellent, wine was superb, but the service really was inconsistent. It was great in the beginning, but after we finished our meal out server seemed to forget about us. We were going to get a dessert and an after dinner drink, but after waiting for 40 minutes for the server to come back, we just wanted the check. It was really great in the beginning, but left a sour note taste. Disappointing.

If you want a great view of the Manhattan skyline, Battello’s is a really good option. The food is just alright but the views almost make it worth it. My boyfriend and I came in on a Friday night for a late dinner at around 9 pm. We had reservations but the place is pretty big, so it didn’t seem too packed. We opted for the tasting menu($ 65), which comes with an appetizer, pasta, entrée & dessert sampler. Here’s what we ordered: Appetizers: Crispy lump crab cake(charred corn, peperonata, jalapeño sour cream) — I’m not sure I really tasted any of the flavors but the crab cake itself tasted slightly better than frozen Costco ones. Wagyu beef tartare(caper aioli, quail egg, brioche crostini) — the color of this did not make it look appetizing at all. It looked very pink. It wasn’t inedible but I would recommend skipping this. I don’t have much to compare this against since this was only my second time in life eating beef tartare. Pastas: Tagliatelle & little neck clams(scallions, paprika, tomato-clam brodo) — this was pretty good. There were also some mussels in there, and the pasta was al dente. Short rib and fontina francobolli(herbed truffle jus) — this was a short rib ravioli. I’m not a huge fan of mushrooms but if you are, I would recommend this. You can definitely taste the truffle. Entrees: Pan roasted swordfish(lemon chick pea purée, broccolini, trapanese pesto) — this was probably my favorite dish. Some places tend to overcook the swordfish and it becomes dry and tough, but Battello’s did it right. Slow-braised short rib(wilted swiss chard, roasted garlic potato purée, spiced port glaze) — I don’t remember this being anything amazing but it was pretty salty. I can’t remember what was included in the dessert sampler, but I just remember everything being super sweet. Wine is reasonably priced. You can get a bottle starting at $ 20, or a glass, starting at $ 8. We went for the Danzante pinot grigio 2014, Veneto, which I liked. Then again, I’m no sommelier so I tend to like a lot of wines. And to be honest, I’m not sure I would be able to tell the difference between that and a $ 60 bottle of wine. They have live music but I’m not sure if that goes on every night. Overall, Battello’s seems like a nice, semi-fancy place for semi-affordable prices.

The best food in the Jersey City Hoboken area hands down. Have been here over a dozen times and am always blown away by the sophistication of their seasonal menu. Their Bronzino comes with delicate Mediterranean vegetables underneath. The filet is paired perfectly with bone marrow to give it an extra buttery deliciousness. The gnocchi is fluffy and fresh. The only issue is they change their menu with the season, so all those items might not be on there anymore. But that just means the food is fresh. Can’t say enough good things about the service, ambiance and of course the views of Manhattan. Just a spectacular place everyone should try.

I have been at Batello’s for brunch multiple times and always had a good experience. My friends loved it too. I definitely recommend their waffles, pancakes, short rib sandwich. I did not like their polenta fries. Their service is a bit slow compared to the number of tables taken. We were very disappointed last time we went there — we took there our friends who were out of town, but when we got there, it turned out it was closed for a wedding. There was no notification of it on their website, I checked it before going.

This place is a solid five. The best meal let alone lunch I have had in ages. Started with a Bloody Mary at the bar. Seemed comfortable enough so we ate our lunch there. We had the flatbread of the day special it was mixed sautéed vegetables, fresh pomodorro tomato and was delicious. For lunch I had the crab burger with mixed greens the cucumber was in little strips like noodles. Also they have parking and a beautiful view of the water. I can’t wait to come back on my next visit to Jersey City.

I visited Batello with the Unilocal Oktoberfest pub crawl and got to try the yummy crab salad. While it was kind of the establishment to provide light refreshments for our party, the 5 stars is really for the beautiful space and the gorgeous view. We haven’t tried the food but saw it served family style at large tables and it looked very appetizing! The view of the city is amazing and the location of Batello on the pier makes this restaurant a great place for dates and client meetings!

I was unsure where I was walk when I approached the most fascinating location on the water, next to the yachts and boats, Oh My. This location is breathtaking! The light house walking out of the restaurant was a delight, I had no clue there was one. I think you should go to HH or even date night and just take in all the beautifulness. Last night was a little rainy, but in the end it was clear and perfect night to see the beautiful scenery and view.

So I went to Battello for my birthday with a bunch of people(there were 8 of us total) and I would give this restaurant a solid 3 stars. I made a reservation and they accommodated is extremely well… We were comfortably seated, no one was squeezed in, but it still felt intimate. Now, for the actual place… The view of the city, as well as the actual decorations/ambiance of the place was phenomenal! Definitely would come back for those things alone. But I must say the food wasn’t amazing. For what you’re paying, I expected everything to be perfect! We got a few appetizers to start, and they were good but not great. Nothing came out especially hot, which felt like it must have been sitting in the window for a little. For dinner, I got the red snapper and it was okay. The seafood was fresh, but overall underwhelming. I think my favorite dish of the night was my boyfriends octopus pasta, but even that he said there wasn’t a lot of octopus to eat! In the other room there was«live music» that the waiter said we were welcome to listen to; but when we walked in I was bombarded with a dj playing extremely loud music. Last time I checked live music meant someone actually want or played an instrument in front of you… Not a booming mix of rap/heavy metal. That just wasn’t for me. Wouldn’t come back for the food or the music, but I’d come back for drinks and the view.

This restaurants gets four stars plus for all of their culinary offerings. We were a large party of 12 and sampled many of the items off the menu. The prices are kind of steep but I believe across the river the same well-prepared, delicious meals might’ve cost much more. We dined on the scallops, the steak, the clams and pasta, the gnocchi and lobster, the soups, the beet salad, the oysters on the raw bar and several different kinds of deliciously prepared fresh fish dishes. Everyone was pleased with their meal and a few of us raved at the plating of the food and the perfect amount of seasoning on the dishes and the overall flavor and taste profile was amazing. My Family is filled with very savvy wine and cocktail drinkers and on that score everyone was quite satisfied as well. We were celebrating a birthday for an elder in our family, our patriarch and he was over-the-top happy with the food, service, and the setting. The restaurant does not get five stars for the following reasons: The valet only parking was a little over-the-top on a night that was not even that busy. I was particularly concerned as a person who’s disabled about why it was I had to pay $ 10 to park in an obvious handicap parking spot nearer the restaurant than the parking deck across the street. That just rubbed me the wrong way. There was a mixup in the paying the check portion of the experience and it was not good. I made it clear to our waiter that of the party of 12, two of us were going to go on a separate check. I was disturbed by the fact that he failed to do so when he process our check. He did not communicate when the check was being worked out with other members of our party. Lastly, I noticed I didn’t see any African-American employees. Jersey City is one of the most diverse cities in the country and certainly has a significant percentage of African Americans and I really like to see that diversity represented throughout the restaurant Overall, the experience was fantastic and by the end of our dinner that beautiful Manhattan skyline was crystal-clear confirming what is very special about this eatery. The ambient environment and design choices for this very large space are very tasteful. But the thing that is most impressive about Battello’s I am happy to say was the food.

After being here for an event, I was stunned by the beauty and layout of the interior space. And being located on the NJ waterfront, you cannot help but be stunned by the breathtaking view of the city skyline. I didn’t have a chance to sample much of their cuisine at the event, so when I stumbled upon a 99 $ Groupon deal for their tasting menu for 2, I knew I needed to snag it up and take my man to dinner. Service: Service is 4 stars. I give the hostesses a lot of credit on being super patient and having a table available after the bf showed up like 40 minutes late from our reservation time. Table service is at about 3.5 stars. Server did not check up on us too often and wasn’t too friendly to us. Sometimes I think it’s the Groupon that can affect this, but I always give people the benefit of the doubt when it’s a Friday night and the restaurant was packed. Food: The night was off to a good start with our apps. We chose the Tuna Rollatini and Steamed PEI Mussels. Both solid choices for apps. The yuzu and soy gave the rollatini enough acidity and added nice citrus freshness to cut thru the creamy avocado. The broth with the mussels wasn’t too salty, and the mussels themselves were not overcooked, but could’ve used a little bit more spice/heat. 2nd course is pasta of course. We shared the Tagliatelle & Little Neck Clams in a tomato-clam brodo/broth and the Sweet Potato Cavatelli where short ribs were the star of the dish. Both were only mediocre at best. The brodo with the clams lacked flavor. The cavatelli was under cooked and I think they could’ve gone with a different pairing of pasta with short ribs. It was all too rich in texture and flavors. We packed up most of the pasta dishes to-go and were ready for our entrees. Presentation on both were outstanding. The Mediterranean Branzino had a beautifully cooked skin and the ratio of the caponata to fish was perfect. Looks were deceiving. Again, another dish that just lacked flavor. I’m glad we went with the Braised Short Ribs, since I did enjoy the short rib meat in their pasta dish. The meat was tender and flavorful. However, we missed the flavor of truffle in the potato purée and that was a disappointment. Having a dessert sampler as a part of the tasting menu is a plus. Most of the time you only get to choose 1 dessert.(And you know how much I LOVE dessert!!) So they get some brownie points for this. The sampler included their parfait, a profiterole, and the dark chocolate brownie with milk chocolate mousse(my fave of the 3). The parfait and profiterole I couldn’t care less about. But that milk chocolate mousse is a winner! Overall I don’t see us returning here willingly and paying full price. Ya win some and ya lose some. Unfortunately this fell more towards the latter.

I cannot explain how amazing my experience here was without sounding like I am exaggerating and i am NOT. I assure you, this restaurant will completely BLOWYOURSOCKSOFF. First off, the hosts do a wonderful job upon entering. The place is magnificent, truly breath taking. The décor is marvelous and the view is to die for. Secondly, the wait staff is incredibly intelligent and VERY friendly. They don’t over step any boundaries but they still make you feel very comfortable. Lastly, the food is LITERALLY the most AMAZING food I’ve ever had eating out before. The table i was at all ordered very different dishes, I had the octopus pasta, others had the duck, the scallops, and the pork chop. We all tried each others. The flavors are full with depth and complexity. Nothing is one note. Your taste buds will be dancing with joy in all their dishes. The serving size of the plates were also generous, more than plenty. I cannot believe how incredible my experience was here. It is my absolute favorite restaurant to date. Once I go back, I will let you know if my review still stands(I’m sure it will). (Yelp Elite) chosen as My Restaurant Favorite!
