While apartment hunting in JP, I stopped in here for a little pick-me-up. Their menu is similar to the menu at Starbucks, alas I must admit that I don’t understand 90% of the Starbucks menu, just what I order. The very pleasant barista behind the counter offered me her favourite selection, and I went for it. Double shot vanilla latte, coming up. The latte looked enormous and the swirl in the foam was lovely. I had some time to kill so I scouted out a private table and cracked my epically large book. I looked around for a moment and thought, «Wow I’m so cool!» Then I took a sip of the frothy beverage and was transported to my happy place. Delicious coffee, my own table, a good book, the cozy ambience, warm leather, what more could you ask for?

My problem is not the coffee or the service. Both were perfectly fine. Didn’t have a pastry so I can’t speak to that. The problem is the coffee shop chock full of mostly people by themselves taking up tables and booths while they use the wifi. I went with my sister and we couldn’t find a place to sit. One woman had her coat on the couch next to her. Another was«saving» a seat for some invisible person. Most people were not talking. There was this desperate sense of needing protect one’s space. People, if you need wifi or have to study, go to the library! I will gladly go to JP Licks for coffee instead.

Delicious coffee, great lounge, a bit overcrowded, but definitely worth the trek to JP for! Will try to get some of friends to join. The baked goods are also a must try here.

I’m not a coffee drinker, so I can’t review the quality of the coffee, but the atmosphere here is great. People are quiet, there’s some soft seating and a variety of tables. The prices seem decent. There’s also a fireplace(that I happen to be sitting by right now) and free wifi(3 hour limit, which is generous). There’s a big parking lot out back, too.

Good drink selection, free wifi without a time cap, plenty of seating. Great ambience for studying /working. The food is all prepared, so don’t expect City Feed level sandwiches, but overall decent, especially for a chain café – way better than anything a Starbucks or Petes provides.

Finally a properly and professionally run, spacious, comfortable coffee shop with sandwiches; baked goods in JP. I don’t have to deal with the dozen questions and attitudes I get in most other cafes in the neighborhood.

Good coffee and snack selection. Seating options are a bit limited though and sometimes one person will take up a whole booth meant for more people. The parking lot in the back is a huge plus.

I really want to like this place as it’s the closest coffee shop to my apartment. Their espresso is pretty good and the pastries are alright if a little expensive. I’m particularly fond of the almond crème cake and happened to grab the last slice this afternoon. So i sit down by the fire, set down my coffee, pick up my fork, and… am unable to get it into my cake, it’s so stale. Gross. The guy at the counter was happy to exchange it, but the replacement(double chocolate) was also dried out and the frosting discolored. I’m just glad I didn’t order a sandwich — I’m genuinely not sure they’d be safe to eat.

Black drip coffee-okay, but much better coffee can be found at both Monumental Cupcakes and farther south, Fazenda. I don’t drink cappuccinos or any of those fancy espresso drinks, but their americano is pretty good. Sandwiches-good and fairly priced, Pastries-not bad but wayyyyyy overpriced and not clearly marked. I just spent over $ 11 for a chocolate éclair and an apple turnover-ish thing that is about the size of my palm. Bottom line, if you live in JP, there are many other neighborhood joints for amazing and reasonably-priced pastries.

Perfectly acceptable café. Hard to find seating, limited food options, but the atmosphere is everything you want in a coffee shop. Music is consistently jazzy and mellow, and people keep their conversations quiet. On a typical afternoon, you’re sure to sit by studying students and retired folks reading the newspaper.

3 hours of WiFi in a comfortable environment that serves much more than coffee(not a huge fan). Because of the many options, the kindness of the staff and the 3 hours Wifi, I am more than happy to get a few hours of work done while grabbing a drink and a snack.

Nice study/work location. Lots of tables and both times I visited it did not seem to be lacking in plugs. Good coffee and pastries, the healthy food is nothing special and a little overpriced for being pre-made.

Well, I won this husband/wife verbal comment only/probably only remember, he probably doesn’t…not real(but real in my mind) bet… The pastries here are amazing. Bc I couldn’t decide: I got 2: a spinach and cheese scone and a multigrain croissant. Iced coffee was good too, flavorful and not watered down. A lil pricey but it IS reflected in the quality. No pics today as I ate them too fast.

On a hot day, my mom and sister an I were looking for some fresh fruit smoothies. Café Nero says on their website that this is something they serve. The service was painfully slow. It was the middle of the day on a Sunday and there was only one person in there that I could see who was taking orders and making drinks(once the line got up to like 8 people, another person joined him.) It took a long time to place our orders and a long time to get it. We got a strawberry banana and a mango smoothie to share. Both were absurdly sweet and icy. They tasted like all kinds of artificial flavors and added sugar and syrup. I was very disappointed and didn’t even want more than 1 sip. I would probably go back to taste some of the other things that they have, like their treats and coffee. I wish that they just took the smoothies off the menu. If you can’t do it right, don’t do it at all!

Great cappuccinos and sandwiches, even though they’re not freshly made. On the expensive side. Insanely busy, and nearly impossible to get a table– but that’s to be expected of a coffee shop of this caliber and ambiance in the downtown area! Seriously cool looking place.

it’s a cool vibe and i like the interior. Good sandwiches and coffee. I like to go in a grab a coffee and a sandwich, and take a seat or table for an appropriate amount of time. I like to think i’m considerate towards my fellow man and i then move on with my day. Unfortunately it seems there are just a ton of ppl kind of working on their masters thesis’ and stuff or something, and they spread their work out and hang like for hours, without getting any food or drink. That’s somewhat annoying. I get hanging out for a bit, but supporting the place by actually buying stuff is probably cool. Or getting the eff out of the booths after a «fair» amount of time is also kinda cool.

Dear Caffe Nero, I don’t usually say this after only the first date but I love you. This is what a coffeeshop is all about, at least for an academic like me. I want a place with mellow music, some food(sweet or savory) to eat, a plethora of drinks to choose from, and free wifi. I also like being able to sit for hours(buying something every hour) as I write on my laptop. The variety of seats including small and large tables, lounge chairs, and cushy booths make this place ideal. I particularly love the little booth tucked away in the back near the napkins and straws. Lastly, something that I appreciate is that there are books everywhere, including one wall that is covered with old-looking books(I think they’re fake but I don’t care — it’s the symbolism that counts). The atmosphere is what warrants the four stars. The food, however, warrants only 3. On my first visit I had a strawberry and banana smoothie which tasted delicious but wasn’t mixed very well(too many little pieces of ice — not a very smooth smoothie). The caprese sandwich on a toasted baguette was yummy. On my second visit, I had a mocha frappé and a brownie. The mocha frappé was a bit tasteless and the brownie was dry and UNsweet. Not what I was looking for in such a fudgy looking brownie. Still, the staff pick up my plates and doesn’t bug me about leaving. This is a place I will return to when I need a change of scenery while writing.

I love the DTX location. Fast, efficient, and friendly service. Therefore, I was psyched when a location opened up in JP. I came here around 2pm on a Sunday and seating was pretty full. When I ordered a Caprese Sandwich the woman stared at me and responded somewhat with an attitude: «A what?» Hmmm. We also ordered the roast beef sandwich and a 16oz regular iced coffee. The total came out to be $~$ 20 While we were waiting for the sandwiches we decided to split a chocolate croissant(yum!). Flakey and just the right amount of chocolate. A different guy took this order and he asked if I we wanted it for here or to go. We took it to go. We waited roughly 10min for our sandwiches. When they were ready the woman who took the order called out the order and had two plates in hand with the sandwiches on them. She asked us if we wanted them for here or to go. When we said to go, she very clearly mouthed the F-word and rolled her eyes as she was turning away. On a brighter note the roast beef sandwich was delicious! Loved the horseradish sauce.

I am in LOVE with this new coffee shop in town. I visited on day two of their new store and love it. I had the Vanilla Rooibos tea and really enjoyed it. Great flavor, nice quality tea. I also had the oatmeal raisin cookie and it’s really nice. Good texture, good flavor. I look forward to many days in this coffee shop and trying more food and snacks. I may stick with the same tea — it’s that good. There are tons of seats and various kinds — booths, tables, and more. So happy Caffe Nero opened in JP.
