This is a bike trail but I decided to come here anyway since it was the closest to me. very nicely paced bike path with room on both sides for pedestrians to walk. There’s a parking with restrooms. If you’re a cyclist then this is perfect for u. Not made for people to walk dogs, but it got the job done.

There really is not a great deal here to «review.» This particular stop along the roughly 38 mile San Gabriel River trail is little more than a parking lot, a public restroom, and a drinking fountain. There are no parking fees, but unlike street parking on Encanto Pkwy. just west of Lario, there is a gate that is locked at 4:30(sometimes later in summer, despite posted hours. There are probably hundreds of access points to the bike trail, which runs from Azusa Canyon to the north of Lario(connecting with highway 39 at the trail«turnaround») to Seal Beach(access to Pacific Coast Highway 1). Between those two ends are countless adventures, communities, natural wonders, urban development, homeless encampments, industrial areas… Really, it’s something to see. There might be no better way to really get a sense of SoCal than riding the bike trail from mountains to sea on a Saturday. The Lario section is generally pretty clean, and more or less free of riff-raff. Occasional broken glass or graffiti scars the landscape, but there are also lovely views of the the San Gabriel Mountains, the riverbed chaparral with plants like prickly pear and cholla cactus, yucca, American holly, wild buckwheat, ironwood, and mule sage, to name a few. Rabbits, ground squirrels, gopher snakes, rattlesnakes, foxes, coyotes, and the rare bear or bobcat can be seen. Be sure to lock your car and keep chargers and other valuables out of sight. Have fun

This is a bike trail that actually begins along the San Gabriel River, along Azusa Ave, about two miles north of Foothill Blvd. It can take you all the way to the beach if you like. You can access the trail at several points along the trail. I first rode this trail with my son when he was about 10. We started near the old Pacific Electric Railroad bridge that crosses the river just north of Encanto Park in Duarte. This route has become part of a regular bicycle routine for me. The path is well maintained, at least as far down as I have ridden and others have told me that it is fine all the way to the coast.

It’s a bike trail, restroom stop and parking lot. I’ve only rode down(and around) to the Santa Fe Dam, and even then that’s a good workout with all the hills and slopes. I hope to go further down the trail real soon. I’ve also have had leisurely walks along the bike trail as well, just to get away from it all, but like I said at the beginning, it’s primarily a bike trail. Nice native dessert plant scenery, with water running alongside the trail(depending on season and weather), and sometimes will spot the local wildlife. I think I’ve seen bunnies, various birds, and a coyote there. It’s free. No admission or parking fees(unlike the Santa Fe Dam). You just have to be sure to check the hours, as the lot closes at 4pm. These days if I know I’ll be there later than 4pm, I’ll leave off my car at Encanto Park or find street parking instead.
