Absolutely horrible service. We had our system (back when they were ASG Security) installed. We had a remodel at our home, so had to get the system uninstalled. We were told that we would just need to call back to get the system reinstalled when the remodel was over. Fast forward THREE WEEKS after calling — after 5 calls and (literally) hours of wasted time, we still were not able to get someone to come out and reinstall the system. Between multiple unanswered calls, taking time off work to sit around and wait for techs that arrive and then tell us they were given the wrong job information — and paying for monitoring we aren’t even receiving — we are DONE. We’ve since switched companies and are happier with our monitoring service. I would NOT recommend Protection 1.

I am just counting down until we can cancel with this company. The alarm system goes off for no reason, and they do not call when it does. Horrible, horrible. Many issues since day one. Somehow we signed up for five years and I have no idea how the salesman got that one by us. I remember being tired because it was in the evening. NOTE: DO NOT let salesman into your home. What was I thinking? NEVER again. After reading countless reviews on the internet of the difficulty in cancelling, I am seriously nervous about what will happen when the time comes. But I am going to cross every «T» and dot every «I» to get it done.

BEWARE of Protection 1 customer service!!! I moved out of a house where I rented 2 months ago. I called Protection 1 because I was still receiving billing statements in my name despite calling them and telling them to remove my name. After 20 minutes on the phone they couldn’t figure out what to do and said they would call me back. 6+ robocalls later I talked to a second customer service person. That person again didn’t know what to do and transferred me to billing. That person after 40 minutes transferred me back to account services. FINALLY after being on the phone for nearly AN HOUR I got someone who could figure out that the account contract was in the homeowner’s name and that I was only on the billing statement. At that point my name was removed from the billing statement. WHAT A HUGE WASTE OF TIME 1.5 HOURS ON THE PHONE TO CHANGE THE NAME ON THE BILLING STATEMENT. JERKS!!!

Ahhh. security and peace of mind is so important these days in our crazy world. My neighborhood is relatively safe; however, the added feeling of this extra level of protection is so important. I’ve been a customer since 1998, and they certainly have been there for me any time, day or night.
I have sensors on most of my windows, exterior doors, a motion detector, and glass breakage sensors throughout the house. I recently decided to arm several windows in my kitchen & breakfast room, which had not been included in the original installation because the technician suggested not doing so to keep the costs down. These windows are surrounded by thick shrubs, and face a well lighted street. However, after a couple of attempted home invasions in the general area, I felt better about going ahead and spending the $$ to increase my feeling of well being.
My, was I impressed. I placed the service call, and was scheduled for the next day. Upon his prompt, on time arrival, he assessed the situation and gave me the estimate. AND, then suggested the alternate option of installing a glass breakage sensor & motion detector versus sensors on 4 windows, saving me over $ 200. NOW, that is true customer service. You go guy, get it done !!! He completed the job in less than an hour, tested the system, inspected all the other connections, tidied up flakes of plaster on the floor, and was on his way. Job well done !!
Now, on to their response to any issues I have had. They are Johnny on the Spot in monitoring their customers. Once, when someone (probably a bored kid on summer vacation) shot a BB through the living room window around 2300, setting off the alarm, ProtOne called within 15 – 20 seconds, and dispatched the police, who were there within 5 minutes. All was well, except for my racing pounding heart.
Boy, was it a delight to see those three TALL, HUSKY (& quite handsome I might add) police officers at my door. Grateful sigh, the system really works. (BTW, the fuzzy cocker didn’t even come out from under the covers. Good watchdog, good girl!)
My most recent incident was the result of my having a «blonde moment» this morning. First thing I do when arising is to disarm the system from the bedroom keypad. Nope, not today, distracted by morning play with the pup. Strolled down the hallway, turned on the living room lamp, took 3 steps, and the motion detector caught me. BUSTED. OMGosh, if that siren doesn’t get ones heart beating, nothing will. I disarm the system, and within 15 seconds, my phone is ringing.
ProtOne — «This is ProtOne calling; we see your system was activated, are you okay?»
Me — «Yep, my bad. Pup distracted me, soooo sorry».
ProtOne — «So glad to hear all is well. Your pass code please?»
Me — «XXXXXXX».
ProtOne — «May I also verify your full name?».
Me — «XXXX».
Call ended with PO thanking me for my business and telling me to have a great day.
Other than feeling really stupid, my day started with a very positive experience.
I go to sleep at night with the assurance that I (and my adorable fuzzy cocker spaniel) am safe and secure, thanks to this outstanding home protection company. It’s worth every small (very reasonable) cent I pay.
