Had the non veg thaali. The mutton and chicken curries were amongst the best I’ve had. My wife; a more conservative and cautious type just loved the food. Thaali variety is excellent with a good mix of veg and non veg items. Must-go-to restaurant!

We were here for lunch on Sunday. Loved the dosa and chicken curry. Two of my friends had ordered meals plate. I found the chicken in the curries had a smell. That was a turn off. This place is is in Irving.

Chennai Café is a casual eatery with nominal pricing and easy going atmosphere. The name Chennai comes from the city of Chennai(formerly Madras), in Southern India It offers dishes of mostly south Indian origin(East Indian subcontinent) and which are quite tasty& delicious and maybe somewhat spicy. Don’t expect from this eatery the same performance like from the other Las Colinas establishments in the area. They just started this business and is housed in a converted fast food joint(the drive thru window and outside order menu are still visible). But give them couple of years and they too would be equally competitive.

I’m regular at this place. Authentic south indian cuisine & very customer friendly staff. I have seen customers being greeted & every time before leaving, Mr Raj & his partner(I think) come to the table to ask about the food & satisfaction. The food quality & variety is too good. I had combo fish with rice/rasam for lunch today & it was super. My wife enjoyed the veg thali too. Must visit …

Ordered the famous thalapakattu mutton biriyani. It was nowhere near to that of Plano chennai café.

The lunch thali is extremely small. The meat dishes are all bone. To top it off this place is expensive. Take a pass there is way better Indian food in Irving. I gave it another shot a week ago and bland bad taste. I spent $ 15 for lunch left hungry

One of the best south indian food. Try the unlimited meal. You will be definitely satisfied. I do not like the Chennai Café in frisco because of the service. But the irving location is awesome.

It’s a great place to find south India food — veg and non veg. Very quaint environment and friendly waiters. Buffet is little expensive compared to other places but it’s totally worth it.

Mind blowing service I am never gonna comeback here … They added things in the check for what they did not serve and charged the card wrongly then refunded not sure if they understand what they are doing …

Nothing special. Just the same old boiler plate menu. Food is ok, has a lot of food coloring. Some dishes are excessively spiced, even you request non spivey.

Very good service and amazing authentic south Indian food. Especially the weekend Thalapakatu mutton biriyani, the best.

Quantity is not enough for the cost. Kothu paratha is tasty. ambience is nice and service is fast but definitely costly compared to the similar options in Irving

We got the Thalis here both on weekdays and weekends. Food is very good, although they can improve on the time taken for the food to arrive. The food is delicious and they have both limited and unlimited thalis, to accommodate people with varying appetites.

Let me start out by saying the customer service is wonderful. Very nice host and servers. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the food as much as I did the great service. We were served with complimentary samar/dal(lentil) soup. I tend to really enjoy the spicy flavor. So, it was a total hit for me. But, it was way too spicy for my mom and sister. We ordered the paneer tikka masala and the king fish curry. We requested it to be extra extra spicy. The paneer tikka masala was too sweet and tomato-y for our taste buds. I’ve had way better. The fish curry was not spicy and also had a very strong tomato base. The fish didn’t seem very fresh either. The food was mediocre for me. It just didn’t make the cut. Will I return? Maybe.

Went here based on the recommendation of a friend and the food was yummy. I had the crab masala, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Although the crab meat was lacking, the dish was packed with flavor and spices. My hubby had the goat and it was tender and well seasoned. The naan was good, but I have had better. The portion sizes are plentiful and the service was good — our server was pleasant and very helpful. Looking forward to going back and trying other items on the menu.

I have been to the other Chennai Cafes in Plano and Frisco but this has been by far my best experience of all. We ordered the Nethli Fry which are crispy fried anchovies as Apetizers. Perfectly spiced and seasoned, this was an excellent accompaniment to our chilled beer on a sultry afternoon. Yes, it’s BYOB until now. For the main course, we ordered the highly recommended Thalapakattu Mutton Biriyani, Mutton Sukka Varuval and Madurai Chilli Chicken. The Biriyani tasted very authentic, had an amazing flavor, not too spicy and very different from the traditional Mughalai or Hyderabadi Biriyani. Try it! The dry goat Varuval was my favorite and I’m guessing that this is one of their best-selling dishes because finding such exquisite authentic goat preparation in DFW Indian restaurants is like finding a needle in a haystack. The Madurai Chilli Chicken was spicy and just what I expected it to be. I was particularly impressed by the fresh ingredients they use, including the freshly grounded spices. The taste is close to the food back in the old country. It’s not too often that everything is a hit at Indian restaurants, hence the five stars.

Can you say: BYOB?! I got to try a sample of their food at the Summer Solstice and it was amazing! So I just knew I had to come! Luckily this location is close to me. You can bring your own wine. The staff was supper friendly and attentive. The food was phenomenal and they give you good sized portions. I will absolutely come back! Oh, and it didn’t take long at all to get my food

My husband and I dropped in for chai and some very good food. I had the kal dosa with mutton curry and my husband got the egg dosa. The dosa was perfectly cooked, the coconut chutney was amazing, and the sambar didn’t fry our mouths with too much heat, but had great flavor. Portions were huge and we are taking home leftovers yay! We also got some Mysore Paak to try at home. Wonderful to have a place that has a different menu from every other Indian restaurant, coupled with a clean environment and great service.

Good and tasty food. They gave rasam as a compliment just not to keep you waiting. The menu is not the same as the Frisco branch but a smaller version of it though! The location of the restaurant is great and also has a good ambience. The tables are small though so it was a little tough to eat when you get big plates. Management was pleasant
