Let me first say this: I am EXTREMELYSUSPICIOUS of all of these 1-star reviews, having had both the most *EXCELLENT* dinner AND service here literally two nights ago, and after trying their catered dishes for the first time recently(about 2 wks ago). The catering was at an Indian friend’s baby shower, where both the hosts AND the attendants(literally from so many countries I lost count– America, Korea, India, Africa, Vietnam, etc.) just raved about the food. We devoured the dishes and at one point, a room full of cultured adults sat in near-silence as we chewed with wide eyes, amazed at the quality and flavor of our meal. I haven’t written a review in a while, but I HAD to write this because after having dinner there just now, I cannot for the LIFE of me believe what some of these people have written. At the shower, the food had been sitting out for at least an hour before we dug in while people were arriving and chatting, and I am not kidding when I say every single thing there was out of this world. Some of the items are served on the buffet and are not listed on the menu, and everything we had was vegetarian, but off of the top of my head I remember there was Gobi Manchurian, Paneer Tikka Masala, Hyderabadi Vegetable Dum Biryani, Papad/Naan, at least three other things I don’t know the name of, and a DELICIOUS bread pudding-like dessert with cashews that was the perfect balance between bready and sweet, and had my husband begging for extra after he had two helpings. And this was served from silver foil trays that had been sitting out for a while! Saturday around 7pm we drove to Irving to check this place out in person. It’s situated on a lovely hilltop(so lovely that after we ate, I walked out mesmerized by the view of lights sparkling below and literally walked right past our car as my husband stared at me, amused) with plenty of parking. For some reason– I suspect based on these ridiculous low reviews– it wasn’t packed, and we walked right in and were seated immediately. FROMSTARTTOFINISH, the service was IMPECCABLE. Y’all KNOW, if you’ve read my review of Buttons, I take this seriously– I don’t like to recommend crappy places to anyone for any reason. I am not kidding. Pukar was our main server and we felt like royalty from the moment he introduced himself. He spoke with us for some time about what brought us there, how familiar we were with Indian cuisine, etc. and made us feel as if were were the only ones there. He checked on us frequently, delivered our food, and literally did everything he possibly could have to ensure that we had a PHENOMENAL meal and experience. There were several girls frequently making rounds, cleaning used dishes away and refilling water and beverages as often as you could want. While I suspect all of those awful reviews are from competitors(or a**holes), if there is any truth to them at all, I am fairly certain that the management is reading these and improving service as much as they can to remedy any complaints. We ordered two different kinds of naan(the plain and the garlic), and the garlic naan was so fragrant that we both lifted the plate to our noses in ecstasy when it was delivered, hot and perfectly baked, to our table. We tried the Crispy Masala Pepper Corn(«Battered golden kernel corn fried and tossed in wok with aromatic spices»), which was so scrumptious I wanted to keep the whole plate to myself! It was just spicy enough from the pepper that I kept my water glass handy, and the crunchy coating on the outside just elevated this simple vegetable into something else entirely. I think it’s my new favorite snack!!! I wish they sold this somewhere else– food trucks, are you listening? THISISAMAZING. I ordered the Malai Kofta(«Potato dumplings made with veggies, cheese and cashew nuts cooked in delicious creamy gravy») and SuperSexayHubby ordered the Methi Chicken(«Delicious chicken dish cooked with fresh chopped methi leaves and spices). The Kofta was creamy and flavorful, and the texture was excellent(I have had Kofta before that was virtually mush– this was a bit firmer and had a good ‘bite’ to it). The chicken was moist and covered in a delicious herbal paste that had us licking our fingers and sopping it up with naan until the bowl was clean.(Actually, we did the same to the sauce left from the Kofta!) These dishes came with ample amounts of basmati rice, and we were completely stuffed and were sadly unable to order dessert. This restaurant offers a buffet for lunches, including on Sundays, and there are menu and non-menu items included. I cannot wait to go back and try more from Hilltop. Let me be clear: the food was DELICIOUS, the service was F*CKINGFANTASTIC, the atmosphere was cozy and kind of romantic for dinner(not to mention the gorgeous view when you step outside!), and I highly recommend trying this restaurant. I have no idea where the low stars come from, but PLEASE try it yourself!!!

Not happy withe the food and service. Veggi buffet is not that great but saw lot of non veg options. Service is pathetic no one care about what you need less staff as compared to the guests. You can take a risk and you may find it good.

This place is really good and the best biryani I ever had after moving from Ohio. I was in search for best Chicken Dum Biryani around Dallas area. I have tried all Indian restaurants in this area. I never felt anything meet my standards of biryani. Kudos guys! I will visit this place again. I got Chicken dum biryani, chicken 65 for Togo. Both are spectacular. I went on Thursday night luckily they have chat buffet on every Thursday’s. My daughter tried and loved it. Best place to go this place.

Food and the whole experience in this restaurants is very good. The ambiance is very classy, the staff is attentive and the food is well presented. I ate there for dinner and lunch I liked the all dishes they served, especially pepper chicken, chill chicken, chicken/goat Briyani is very very good. All in all I will give it five stars.

I had an expired groupon for this place so I figured I check it out and at least use the ‘amount paid’ for my lunch. My lunch buffet wasn’t enough to use it, so I guess I’ll be back again. I give it 3 stars because its good, but with the number of other 4 – 5 star Indian lunch buffets in the area, I’m not sure I’d otherwise be back. When I went the place was fairly busy and the dinning room was understaffed. Refills are hard to come by and the one woman who was running around dropping naan off at the table appeared to be the only wait staff. The man at the register was not friendly, and the kitchen was running around trying to refill everything. I did like that they had a station with just dips and chutneys, but they also had a lot of dishes with no labels. I’ll drag a co-worker here so I can use up my Groupon, but then I’ll be going back to my other favorites like Our Place or Flavors.

One of the best Indian places to eat in town, I’ve been to many many locations but this restaurant beats most of them. The flavor is intense, the chicken tikka Masala is one of their best dishes. The buffet has plenty of food and priced comparably with other Indian restaurants. One thing I didn’t like was the Naan costs extra while other places it came with the entrees. Overall, this is one of my favorite restaurants to go to when I’m craving Indian food.

We usually goto Our Place for Saturday lunch but decided to switch it up a bit and goto Hilltop instead, and boy what a mistake that was. The service from the waitstaff is great, no complaints there. Very attentive and polite. But the guy at the counter/cashier is rude and could take some lessons in customer service. The buffet food is lukewarm and not a lot of choices. I question the freshness of everything, like they just bring out left overs from the day before. The fried fish had a bad stink, chicken biryani was basically just plain rice with a few pieces of onion and no chicken. I just didn’t enjoy their food… at all, no wonder the place was so empty during lunch time on a Saturday. I’ll be going back to Our Place just down the road from there with much better food, a lot more choices and lower price. It’s a no brainer.

This place got worse in last month or so. The management changed recently and removed Dosai from menu. Today we went to buffet and we were told no Dosai served with buffet. But after that they were serving Dosai to some tables. I thought it was weird. I am not going back to this place.

Great food, only doing 4⁄5 because the service was pretty bad when I went(Only saw waitress once when she brought Nan, couldn’t ever ask for more Nan or water)

People who give less than 4 stars should check. This is perfect Andhra style restaurant. Spicy, tasty in every bit. Mutton curry, dosa, chicken are the best.

Very authentic South Indian restaurant. The buffet selection is quite large, with typical home dishes like pongal, potato fry, and sambar. One of my fav soups is Rasam, here it’s a bit ketchupy and so was the butter paneer– unfortunately two of my favorites. They do serve fresh naan and dosa to each party. Service is lacking perhaps because it’s a busy Sunday? Overall the food is authentic and flavor a are very well like homemade Indian meals. Oh btw I tried a dessert called Junnu thinking it was a flan type desert… However then I learned it’s actually made with cholostrum milk– milk from a cow or buffalo that just gave birth. Well perhaps they use regular milk, I hope! Lol

Compared to all other restaurants in Irving HILLTOP has the best buffet for lunch. Has so many varities of food where as other restaurants don’t. Ofcourse other restaurants are good but less number of options in food.

I’ve already been here twice in the span of 2 weeks because I like it so much. Literally located on top of a hill, Hilltop has become my to-go place for Indian food. It should be noted that this is actually straight up Indian food as opposed to Pakistani or Bangladeshi food hiding under an «Indian Cuisine» sign. I had the buffet, and for the first time in a buffet there wasn’t a single item I didn’t want. The chicken tikka masala was a little more tame than I’m used to, but if you’re a newcomer to Indian cuisine it should suit you just fine. The staff is nice and helpful which is REFRESHING for a desi place. Overall 4⁄5 only because the CTM wasn’t the dish of my dreams like it usually is.

Goat curry and biryani were great! If you like hot and spicy goat curry, this is the place. I’ve visited quite a few Indian restaurants before. Hilltop offers the hottest goat curry so far. Biryani was wonderful. I had a second serving. I love naan too, but I don’t know why they put a thin layer of oil on top of it. It looked a bit greasy to me. Otherwise, I would have a lot more. Service was good. The restroom was clean, I have to say.

Hilltop is the best Indian restaurant in the immediate area. It beats out Our Place and Mayuri. There are better restaurants, but you will need to go to Addison(Saffron House) or Dallas. I appreciate that the bread is fresh made and brought to the table. I highly recommend the Palak Paneer. I also suggest going during lunch. The lunch buffet is a great deal. However, they are a bit overpriced for dinner. Their dinner prices almost made me give a 3-star. But I think the relative quality of the food earns a 4-star.

We had the Lunch Buffet. I think it’s a great buffet for vegetarians. I write that because only my husband had the curry goat and tandoori chicken. He said that both were good, but not quite as good as another Indian food buffet he goes to. I enjoyed all of the vegetarian dishes. We both like spicy food, so it was wonderful that the selections here are spicy. Neither of us recommend the small fried bites of fish. They need to be seasoned more. The buffet also comes with naan and dosa. 3 sweet choices on the dessert bar is also a winner in my book. We had a Groupon — 2 buffets with soda or plain tea for $ 14 — that price for the quality of food was amazing! Service was very polite and friendly.

The food isn’t bad here. I’ve had better chicken biryani for sure, but theirs isn’t anything to complain about. I was a bit disappointed in their selection. They only had 1 row of servings. The other station was dessert/fruits. Also, there was no A/C when we came here… and their water was lukewarm(no ice unless you asked for it). Spicy food + no A/C during a Texas summer is no bueno! Even their servers were sweating. Not bad for a $ 9.95 buffet, but I don’t know if I care to come back.
