Excellent customer service! Tasty food! Drive-thru Order usually correct, however check for accuracy. I’ve been here 10+ times and only once has my order been wrong. Not bad, we’re only human

Good quality soul food. I recommend getting takeout at this location even though they have a small dining area; it lacks that charm & comfort that you want while sitting down. The ox tails are tender & fall off the bone. All there vegetables are very good as well.

Came here last week with couple of friend here. I must say this place is really something special and memorable. I really loved the fried chicken and the price was also reasonable and service is great. I am coming again.

I drove for miles looking for a good soul food place near LAX. And I didn’t want to come here again as it wasn’t so great the first time. But after getting a bit lost and pretty hungry I resigned myself to M&M. For $ 40 for me, my dad and uncle it’s not badly priced. But the food is a bit too salty and generally not as good as other places I’ve been to. This time we ordered oxtail, baked chicken and red snapper fish. And yes, there was some leftovers to grace our fridge.

I used to love the M&M that was on Centinella, so I was happy to try this location across from the Forum. What a letdown. I have been twice and ordered different things each time and none of it was good. The sides were dry and flavorless, the pork chop was leathery and dry and how can a company from Mississippi not brew sweet tea??? The tea tasted like it came out of the soda gun! Even the cornbread was dry and microwaved. FAIL. It’s back to Flossie’s for me, sorry.

Best Soul Food hands down!!! Dishes you MUST try are the fried chicken wings and Fried Catfish its the best in town fried golden brown to perfection, large proportions of everything. juicy tasty fresh and flavorful. My favorite sides are collard greens, rice and gravy and more rice and gravy and the house made lemonade its the best… the service is great too, its a christian place and when you go you’ll feel the loveee if you’ve never had soulfood this is definitely the place to go!

This place is a delicious jewel with steamy-hot crispy-melty cornbread, rich, crunchy collard greens with no bitterness, creamy mac & cheese, and juicy chicken they fry to order. Be sure to put the pepper oil on your collard greens. Absolutely heavenly. We came here before the Prince concert(it’s right across the street from the Forum). If you’re headed to Inglewood for the concert, EATHERENOW. When we placed our order, Moe asked us if we’d like house-made lemonade or kool-aid.(House-made lemonade, please.) The lemonade is terrific, the atmosphere is fun and lively(there was a fun crowd before the concert), the staff is in a great mood, and the service is terrific. I must mention again: those cornbread muffins came STRAIGHT out of the oven. They could not have been more delicious if I’d made them at home. Slather them in butter!

Went through the drive through late at night. Perhaps that was the problem. Super friendly service. The problem was the food. Cheap, smallish styrofoam container that had melted two small holes in the time it took me to drive the two blocks home. Watery, bland sweet potatoes. Slightly burn collard greens. Bland mac and subpar cheese. They’ve got a sign up that they have been hit by the economy and need to close early on Wednesdays. I hope that they are able to pull things together but at this point Soul Food Kitchen down the street is a much, much better choice. It has more generous portions and better food.

This place is AMAAAAAAZING!!! you HAVE to try the catfish and sweet tea! it is so awesome that they have drive thru because now I can go every week! The ambiance is nice, service is speedy and the food is made fresh to order. I am from the south(New Orleans) and it taste just like back home. mmmm mmmm. I dont know what some of these other users are talking about The menu is FULL of different choices but, if you can READ its no problem. and OFCOURSE you have to wait because its frwshly made not microwaved! ITSFANTASTIC You HAVE to go again and again and again!

I decided to give this place a try after seeing it take the place of yet another eatery that can’t seem to make it at this location. The place had pleasant décor and that was it. The service was the worst I have encountered in some time. The menu is very confusing and too busy. You can’t make out what’s what. The day I was there it was real slow with only three people eating in the restaurant. Even so, the service was really slow. I know that soul food takes a while, but when they get the order wrong in the first place, it adds even more time to the whole experience. I made the mistake of changing my order from a Special to a Dinner. All they had to do was add another pork chop to the order which would have made it two instead of one. I ordered Smothered Pork Chops. It was more like smothered pieces of leather, slightly burnt and tough. The sides of greens and mac and cheese were ok but the portions were a joke for the money. The servings didn’t fill up the receptacles of the Styrofoam container. Even though the waitress hollered back to the kitchen, from the dinning room, to add the pork chop, when it was time to pay was when I realized the price was less than the dinner and asked them if this was a dinner. The girl at the cash register said«Did you order a dinner?». By this time, I’m standing at the counter and the waitress that took my order started fussing with the cook who claimed he never heard her change the order. This was hard to believe since she shouted it from the dinning area. Everyone in there and some people passing by on Manchester Blvd heard it. She was loud. Maybe they need a cook that can cook and hear at the same time. Won’t be going back until it becomes a new eatery at that unlucky location.

I had an unpleasant experience with this incarnation of the well-known M&M’s Soul Food restaurant and I feel motivated to share out of my disappointment and frustration. I’ll try to keep it as objective as possible. I don’t know if this is one of the autentic M&M’s or one of the multitude of pretenders out there. This one is located where the former Porky’s BBQ existed on Manchester, just west of Crenshaw Blvd. What appeared to be a sandwich shop took Porky’s place, floundered for a short time and now we have M&M’s. If my experience is indicative of the level of customer service that one can expect, I don’t expect this venture to last for long either. This was my second experience here. First time the parking lot was full, the place was packed and I took a menu to study for later because I couldn’t decipher it at the time and there was too much activity going on for me to get a handle on what to order. I found the menu to be confusing and poorly organized… Daily Specials are listed on the front but not within so you must ask what they consist of… I was told different prices and quantities of food by different members of the staff and couldn’t figure out what was the better value. So I left and made a note to give them a try another night. Fast forward a week to today. Decided to get baked chicken and catfish dinners for the family to try. Asked a very friendly and engaging woman who answered the phone what was the difference between the Special and the Dinner. Dinner consisted of three pieces of chicken, Special consisted of just two… plus three sides with dinner, two with the Special and larger portions for Dinner. Fine, I’ll take the dinner; a breast, wing and thigh please. When I picked it up, I was charged an extra dollar for a «Mixed» order consisting of white meat. Hmmmm, menu didn’t say anything about that and I wasn’t informed of it when ordering. OK, I’m not going to make a fuss about a dollar; it’s late, the family is hungry and I’m tired. The kitchen had lost my ticket so they had to scramble to try to locate it… then it had to be re-written because it was lost. Kitchen staff looked like a Keystone Cops routine as people looked high and low for it. OK, let’s be patient… no worries. Very friendly faces, very outgoing and engaging, very gracious. I thought the service appeared to be great. Get home, open plate and discover a breast and wing only in the plate; no thigh or other third piece. Immediately search the bag and call the restaurant to report I had been shorted a piece. Was more than a little perturbed because now I’m going to have to go back out because of their flub. Was told that the order was correct; dinners only come with one quarter, either dark or light. No, I said, I was told it was three pieces and that’s what I ordered and paid for. More scrambling. The manager tries to tell me the woman who took my order messed up and that it’s only two pieces. Fine I say, but that’s YOUR mistake, not mine. She’s new and doesn’t know the menu, he says. I don’t care; that’s your issue. I want what was described to me; that’s what I ordered. I wouldn’t pay $ 14.99 for a breast, wing and three side orders had I known that was the quantity. More holding, more scrambling, woman comes to phone and apologizes; admits she said the wrong thing and she has been corrected. OK but what about MYORDER? Instead of making the order right and/or compensating me for my time. I was told basically that that’s how the order comes and oh well… sorry. No. I had to raise my voice, demand that the manager come back to the line and when he refused to offer me anything or correct the order told him I would return his food and I wanted a refund of my money. All for a lousy piece of chicken that cost them, what, a nickel or dime in the grand scheme of things. Insane to lose a potential customer and definite good will over something like that. I packed up the two orders(the catfish dinner appeared fine), went back out in the evening air seething, returned the plates. And would you know that instead of offering me something like an additional quarter piece of chicken and maybe a side order or dessert for my trouble and continued patronage, the guy opened both plates, inspected them and the sides to see if I’d consumed anything, and THEN refunded my money?!? Apologized that it didn’t work out and I said«Yeah, me too…» and that was that. Will never step into that location again and feel like despite their smiles and welcoming gestures, they really missed the mark on HOW to actually treat a customer when an error occured. And they do happen. It’s how you make it right that is the difference. And the men’s bathroom was unacceptably maintained as well. Overall a very disappointing experience. Make sure to ask what you will get and check your receipt carefully for extra charges.

I can’t remember if this is one of the«authentic» M&M restaurants or one of the imitaters(I THINK this is a real one) but it doesn’t matter when the grub is this good. They more or less cook it to order which ain’t always the case with soul food(usually sitting on a steam table all day, but not here). First off, the greens were not overcooked and mushy like most places. They were perfectly cooked and still held their shape and texture which I like A LOT(though they could have had a little more seasoning to them). The short ribs I had were nice and tender and I kinda think they were smoked before the gravy was added, very nice. The candied yams were certainly made fresh, and the corn bread dressing was also good even though they gave me a little-ass portion from an ice cream scoop(c’mon, get a bigger scoop ya’ll). The service was really good here. It appears to be a family run business and our waitress was friendly and checked on us 3 or 4 times during my family’s Sunday dinner. That alone gets you a star or 2 in my book ’cause I HATE bad service. I also liked the décor with the famous black folks on the table art and the Motown music playing softly in the background. We were even greeted at the door by an 8 year old boy in a white pinstripe suit who«welcomed» us to the restaurant then sat us in a large booth– he’s gotta be the owner’s son or grandson. Nice touch, and nice to groom him for the business.

I used to come here after anatomy class at Southwest College. I could care less if I just dissected a cat in class because I knew I was going to be enjoying some good rib tips, buttered corn cake, mash potatoes, and several servings of that sweet tea. The meat is soft and chewy and the sauce just gets all over the place. It’s gonna get real messy quickly. Your fingers are going to smell like rib tips even after several washes. You are going to keep asking for sweet tea because it just screams sweet tea like I used to have it «down south they way grandma made it «even though you never been to the south and grandma is long gone. Service is prompt and friendly. I went for once every week for 2 months and it was consistent. I got my table quickly and they took my order down correctly and never got a bad batch of food. It’s located in a convenient shopping plaza so you can multitask if necessary to save time and travel. Parking is open and ample though be careful when it rains because some parts of the parking lot look like a river or small lake

Now, I am no southerner. I am a California girl, born and bred. I like grilled vegetables and lean meat, I like pizza with thin crust and things like artichoke and goat cheese for toppings, and I like smoothies. I went to this restaurant with full knowledge that it was not my style, but I was pretty sure I’d find something that I’d like. I got a grilled cheese and ham sandwich. And I liked it very much. My husband got(what else?) the fried chicken. So for $ 11, he got A WHOLEFRIEDCHICKEN(not literally, but practically), butter corn, green beans, and mac’n’cheese(you get to choose three sides). It was a real live«ton of food.» And judging from the quantity of people in the place and the quantity of person on each person, I’d judge that this down-south-home-cookin’ does the trick. They cook everything fresh and they are so ready to fatten you up. They have live gospel music on some nights, and the music on Wednesday was pretty neat. So go on ahead, support the southern food, support the musics, and don’t go support them too often or you will be supporting obesity.
