1st. Black owned 2nd the fish was good — not soggy or fishy tasting 3rd the shrimp needs a tad bit more seasoning & be cooked a little longer(I love mine well-done) 4th. I also got some yummy red velvet cake — haven’t tried it yet but it looks moist & delicious. Owner/Staff were super nice, clean restaurant — small & very intimate

Maybe I ate the wrong thing or maybe it’s because I’m from Louisiana and have a very high standard for seafood but this place was barely edible. The people working were uninviting and the shrimp basket was bland and fishy. I have eaten alot of seafood but this was definitely the worse. Wish I could’ve enjoyed the food and given a better review, I gave them two stars because very one else seemed to enjoy it, maybe it was an off day. I won’t be back, sorry.

The portion size and customer service was good however the food was very tasteless. Make sure you bring change because the only parking available is on Manchester in front of the parking meters.

The portion size was great but food was tasteless. How ever the customer service was good, still doesn’t make up for lack of seasoning in the food.

I called in my order, it was ready when I got there. I ordered the 8 piece fish and jumbo shrimp. The shrimp was good and crispy and the fish was mushy. Not soon after I ate a few bites I was in the bathroom vomiting up my food. I was feeling fine until I ate. I really don’t want to say it was the food but what else could it have been. They do need to fry the fish longer I know that much. … Oh and the mac n cheese was disgusting it tasted like they used Velveeta. I hate Velveeta.

I ate here for the first time on Friday based on Unilocal reviews… BIGMISTAKE!!! As I placed my order I observed the unsanitary handling of the fish. I ordered my fish extra crispy and when I returned to work and sat down to eat, the fish was not only tasteless it was undercooked… I hate wasting $ 11.00 on food… I called the manager to tell him how dis-satisfied I was with my meal and he offered to re-cook my meal and I can pick it up after work I said no thanks and he hung up the phone on me!!! WTF!!! Needless to say I would not recommend this place to anyone

This is my second time coming here and both times were great. I love their sides and portion sizes. Both times I got the car fish and it was really good, the shrimp is also really good. I love supporting mom and pop type restaurants like this one. Come in and get hooked!

I was in LA over the weekend and was dying for some Louisiana-style fried fish. Knowing that there are dozens of the«You Buy/WeFry» fresh fish restaurants in the Inglewood area, I was driving past the Forum and looking out for the first one I would pass. Immediately I spotted E&J’s and pulled over. Hadn’t been there before but was impressed before I even got in the door. One of the owners was headed in the front door and spotted a woman on the sidewalk admiring their menu in the front window. The owner was so kind and hospitable to the passer-by, answering questions and offering her a menu to take with her. Friiendly, EXCELLENT customer service! Once I was inside, she greeted me with that same kind of warmth and hospitality and introduced me to her husband(the chef), as if I was coming into their home, rather than their business. We quickly discovered that we had worshipped at the same local church the day before! But, of course, at a restaurant the food is the MOST important. thing, right?. So, I ordered the red snapper and jumbo shrimp combo with collard greens, hush puppies and onion rings – all for $ 7.99! The portions were VERY generous. All was fresh, perfectly seasoned, fried to perfection and the collard greens were right on point, hot, with delicious bits of smoked turkey adding great flavor. EXCELLENT meal! This was my first visit to E&J but definitely not my last. I recommend you head to Inglewood, pass the other seafood spots by and get to E&J. You will be VERY glad you did!

If you are looking for a Great fresh fish and chicken spot, E&J seafood is your place. Friendly family owned establishment with a full menu, reasonable prices, healthy portions and DELICIOUS food in my opinion. I stopped by a month ago because I saw the sign that said they also grilled as I am trying to stay away from fried foods. Well, the rest is history. I ordered the 5 pc snapper dinner w/2 sides. It was under $ 10 and I could’ve made two meals out of it. I was pleased with everything. I tried the collard greens and coleslaw. Loved the greens and the slaw wasn’t bad. Even the hush puppies were delicious with a kick of heat from some jalapeño. If you are in the area not far from the Forum, check them out. You won’t be disappointed. I am now a regular satisfied customer. They are located just west of the Von’s market at 424 E Manchester across from McDonald’s. Their motto is: ‘Try us once and you are hooked’…well I can say it’s true.

Inglewood often pops up as ‘the next(insert sterilized gentrified community)“ E&J represents all the things that make me nervous when I hear that kind of talk. You take the soul food out of inglewood, you take the soul with it. E&J is great food sold cheap, made right. The people here are great, and the food… oh boy… I would avoid this place if you are a gluten free vegan looking for light lunch that won’t weigh you down during your yoga session… you should skip this place… For food loving humans… go here! Just a short walk from the Forum… if you are from out the area in for a show this makes PERFECT tailgating food! It is more of a take out place than a sit down spot with just a few small tables. The Mac cheese was the weakest bit i had, but still classic & good, the greens are a MUSTGET!!! Holy Moses! Check this place out — help keep the soul of this strip thriving!

Best Seafood in LA! I saw and read previous Unilocal reviews and had to try this place. I was not disappointed. The food was just how it used to be not this greasy crap out here. The food and the service was excellent and outstanding. I’ll be back soon !!

We were at the Forum for a kid’s show and found this place nearby, so the family decided to give it a try. We had the oysters, shrimp & fish combo with cole slaw and the wings & ribs combo with fries to share amongst 2 adults &2 kids. It was delicious. All the seafood was cooked to a beautiful golden crispness and sweet & tender on the inside. The kids loved it so much they asked for money to tip the servers. Debra and another gentleman were so kind, gracious & enthusiastic to serve that I wished we did live closer to this store. Will definitely be back when we are in this neck of the woods.

It is incredibly hard to find good fish places these days. In most of my experiences the fish has been horrible. The fish place I use to go to changed ownership and went down hill from there, taste and all. I’ve been hesitant to try any other places because once you have bad fish it’s hard to get past it and move on. However, reading the reviews for E&J Seafood gave me a bit of courage to give it a try and I am glad that I did. The fish is fresh, well seasoned and well cooked. The owner is incredibly nice. If you have not paid a visit to E&J Seafood, I greatly encourage that you do, you will not be disappointed. I prefer my fish crispy so if you want that same crunch do not ask for crispy but ask for extra crispy, you’ll be pleased. So glad I found a new, reliable food spot.

Nice Mom and Pops establishment. Good service. Tasty food. I ordered the oyster dinner with a side of greens and red beans and rice. Loved the fried oysters. The green beans and red beans & rice tasted like they actually cooked them in the kitchen instead of just opening up some cans. Kudos for that! I’ll be back.

While on a work trip I came here as part of my ongoing quest for good fried catfish and I was not disappointed! The catfish and shrimp were super fresh — I’m guessing this is because they are also a fish market. And the catfish had a wonderful flavor too; some secret batter recipe must be involved. The tartar sauce was delicious, as well as the hush puppies. The greens and mac and cheese were good — actually the greens were better than that of a lot of places in SF where I’m from, with plenty of meat mixed in for flavor. The only drawback might be the ambience — just a couple of small tables. I don’t really care about that, but I guess some people do. If I lived near here, I would totally be a regular customer.
