Before I severely criticize this recently re-opened restaurant let me say that I’ve eaten there every week for several years with my family. It was our go to Sunday brunch spot and we loved it. It closed for a while, and we were sad, but this morning I heard it was reopened and a friend and I went for lunch. All I can say is the cashier was dishonest. When she mumbled the amount I owed her I handed her $ 30 for both of us, and then I got a dollar back in change. I glanced up at the posted menu and realized I had overpaid by quite a lot. I went back and asked her how much my bill was. $ 18.90 something. I told her I gave her a twenty and a ten and she denied it. But there is no question that she got a twenty and a ten, and my lunch partner confirmed that I had given her $ 30 because he noticed. She pocketed my extra $ 10. I explained it to her again, and then I stepped over and complained a bit to the host/maitr’d, but he just shrugged. He knows I’m a regular customer. He welcomed us back warmly. So now, having come home and thought about it all, I feel slighted and cheated. So I won’t be back. I left the waitress a good tip as always. And thru the years we’ve always been cheerful, happy customers and big tippers. It was rude not to refund my overcharge. Not ten seconds had elapsed. She hadn’t moved on to any other customer. I know she counted out that $ 30. She just kept that extra $ 10 and then lied about it. I won’t go back. And you shouldn’t either.
