So I would give the food about a C+. Bland but edible. HOWEVER, they overcharged us for replacing beans with extra rice and then charged us that extra fee TWICE. Absolutely ridiculous. And then they didn’t even bother to bring us the drinks that came with our meals according to the menu, not to mention the two of us paid a dollar extra each for Jarritos sodas. So they conned us out of an extra ten bucks just to give us crappy food.

I’ve tried a LOT of Mexican restaurants in Indy, and this one is definitely top-tier. Went for lunch and had a great(and super-filling) meal at a great price(The Donkey, which as the daily special, for $ 8). Seldom do I take food home, but this time I had to. As Trump would say, this is HUUUUUUGE. And tasty. At too many Mexican places, too many entrees taste as if they’re made with ingredients that have been sitting around for a couple days. The meat, cheese and veggies in this burrito tasted freshly made — and made for not only a great lunch but also a filling dinner. Service was outstanding. We’ll be back!

This place is bad. This is my first time coming with my wife and friends and the service is rough. One waiter running like a mad man while the waitress is taking her time walking around. He would get an A for effort but she killed it all. Plus, food took forever and my meal with missing my sides and soggy ! Don’t come here!

Service was slow. Margarita tasted like pure syrup without any tequila. Waited 30 minutes for the queso which tasted like melted cheese with milk. Spent $ 30 on dinner(large queso, medium margarita, and arroz con pollo) when the only thing I came close to finishing was the half of my dinner I ate only because I was starving.

Service was slow, drinks were weak, and the queso tasted like whole milk. Shrimp tacos weren’t half bad, but I’m not planning on returning. Oh, and a light kept flickering, which made me want to climb up a ladder and take care of it myself. It needs to be said that our waitress was nice and helpful!

I felt bad for the waitress. At first service seemed slow, but we quickly realized it was the kitchen that was holding things up. The margaritas are weak – cannot taste the alcohol, but plenty of sugar. They also ran out of margaritas, so two of six of us got one, and the rest waited for 10 minutes for theirs. The choriqueso was bland. Seemed like melted cheese that was mixed with milk to make it a liquid. It barely stuck to the chips and was not appetizing to look at. The salsa was alright and chips were plentiful. The fish taco wasn’t bad, but I could have done without the cheese. I was surprised to pay so much for only two, though. I wouldn’t come back here unless it was a first date with low expectations.

pretty standard Tex-Mex food. Staff is friendly and tentative. Refilled drink/s early and often, chips and salsa are standard and a great starter to the meal. Plates come out fairly quickly. I’d compare this to the popular El Rodeo chains that can be found around Indy. You know what you are going to get and the food is consistently good.

Went here because La Margarita was closed. Went right before the dinner rush, so it was relatively empty. The service was great, but the food was just subpar. I had a mango margarita and it was way too sugar-y, not enough alcohol, definitely a frozen mix. I will say that my chicken taco was really yummy, I just wasn’t impressed with the over-all experience.

The menu offers diverse and decent quality tex-mex. However, the pricing was a bit steep for what I got($ 12 for a smaller than standard burrito and $ 3.50 for a small cup of cheese) The menu does have some unique features, but the higher-than-average prices on their perfectly average food are hardly justified. For something unique: Try the Burrito Rico — a red and white-sauced burrito loaded with the usual trimmings… and BACON.

Staff was fabulous and food was at least par for mexican. I had the fish tacos and they were very tasty, but nothing to go running for, however my 2 children were a bit unruly and the staff was overly considerate and understanding. If they got local brews this place would be even better!

This place has came along way since we first started going to it. They used to use lower quality food. This is not true anymore, the service is amazing, the food has turned a 180. Its fresh and always cooked to order. This is our go to Mexican restaurant in fountain square.

This place is super yummy and has great margaritas! They are open Monday’s, which is convenient since most places in fountain square are closed. The service is great and the arroz con pollo is to die for. Do yourself a favor and try this place out!

Updating my review. 4 stars for«I’m a fan». This is because I know what I’m getting into. Value Mexican-America/TexMex food right in the heart of Fountain Square. The taste is solid. It’s not one of the local taquerias where you can have your selection of 5 – 6 meats for tacos but it’s also not one of the bougie«mexican» places run by white folks who can afford flights to Mexico to steal recipes from local folks(like some Indy places). Price-wise, it is your best option in Fountain Square. The salsa is AMAZING and the family-owned place is friendly.

I don’t understand the negative reviews. This is a very reasonably priced«Value» Mexican Restaurant and has decent food. The service is fast and good. No, it is not a four star but the food and prices are worthy of all the other«Value» Mexican places. I have no issues going back this place over and over. Oh and did I mention, great location?

Four stars for the salsa alone! Average Mexican food, but the service is stellar. The super donkey is definitely two meals.

I was starving and needed to fit in a quick dinner in Fountain Square, killing time before a special event where liquor/beer was involved… let’s just say it was essential to create some sort of stomach food buffer beforehand. It being Monday, the most well-reviewed, quicker Fountain Square options were all closed… but…El Arado(and its 2.5 stars) was open. Surprise surprise, I actually had an «exceeds expectations» experience, even with low expectations going in. I ordered guacamole and the chicken fajita quesadilla, and received the complementary chips & salsa. Everything tasted fresh and decent, and the house salsa tasted homemade(a must). Although nothing stood out as memorable, my meal came out hot and quickly, service was that standard friendly-impersonal, and I had safeguarded myself from the later Girls Pint Out bourbon beer event. I’d definitely visit again, under similar circumstances.

I’ve been here twice. The first time was pretty solid. My mom had a groupon so we went for dinner and got some guac and margs then we both had the fajitas. Everything was okay, no real complaints but not the best meal I’ve ever had. Yesterday I went for lunch for a second time with my friend. We started with some bean dip that was 80% beans and 20% queso. I prefer it to be more equal but the real kicker was the beans taste like a campfire. Gross. We each ordered a glass of sangria and I’m pretty sure it was grape juice. Crazy sweet and the taste was off. My friend tried to order the veggie quesadilla and add steak and they wouldn’t allow it at first. After some discussion they said they would do it but it would be an additional $ 5. That’s pretty steep for a little steak! He ended up just getting the steak burrito instead. The burrito came with bacon? This is a Mexican restaurant right? I ordered the fish tacos. The waiter can back about 5 minutes later and said they didn’t have fish so I would have to choose something else. So I began to browse again then he came back and said never mind we have fish. Uhhh? Where did this«fish» come from? I was skeptical. The tacos tasted fine but I was wary of my «fish.»

Much better food than the reviews led us to believe. Nice service and good portion size. Not terribly spicy so ask for hot sauce if you like it spicy. Give it a chance.

Wish I could give this place less than 1 star. Our waitress messed up our order twice, no idea what she’s doing. Personally went back up and cleared up what we ordered. They brought out food out a 3rd time and it was STILLCOMPLETELY wrong. Then we just asked for the bill and told them the service was just terrible and they actually had the audacity to tell us to just ‘get out and never come back’… Lol. Truly unbelievable. Don’t worry I won’t be.

I hate to be so brutal on a review but this place isn’t good. I went with the chicken fajita salad, chips, and guacamole. For starters I’m not sure you can even put chicken in the description because there was so little of it. The salad was almost all lettuce and peppers. The portion was small and there was absolutely no taste. The chips and guac didn’t go too much better. The guacamole was the most bland guac I’ve ever had. It was the equivalent to mashing up a ½ of an avocado and selling it as guacamole. I know Indiana isn’t going to have the best Mexican food around but this place is no bueno. Go somewhere else!

A group of us came to this restaurant, while in Fountain Square. We were craving Mexican, and with Revolucion being closed on Sundays, we decided to wander in. We began the meal with a medley of guac, salsa, and queso… All of which were delicious. The salsa isn’t spicy, but the guac and cheese were out of this world. For my entrée, I had the quesadilla rellina/chicken, cheese, and beans. This was very small and didn’t come with rice. One of my dining companions ordered the«Super Donkey» burrito, and it was ginormous! I can’t imagine eating that much food! Others ordered the fajita taco salad, the fajita quesadillas(which looked way better than mine), the taco salad, and the enchiladas. All received decent reviews. Long story short, this is a decent place with authentic food.
