I’m thoroughly impressed. This place doesn’t look like much, but it’s right down the road from the house my wife and I are renovating. I got 6 different tacos, and they were all awesome! Every one has different toppings, and they are fantastic! I’m not sure it’s a good thing for me to be so close to this place. I’ll probably get mucho gordo!

Do you like tacos? Of course you do, you’re not a psychopath. Sorry for wasting your time with such a foolish question. This place has my favorite tacos in Indy. They’re not fancy, but damn are they good. There are multiple meat and veggie options, and they’re priced and sized specifically so you can try as many as you think you can handle. They allegedly have dollar tacos on Wednesday, but I always get charged $ 1.25. Maybe they hate me. Now stop reading reviews and go get your mitts on a taco.

It’s a gas station. It’s a grocery store. It’s a casual Mexican restaurant. «It» serves very fresh and chunky guac and salsa(very pico de gallo-ish). It is located in a spot you would often miss and drive by. It’s budget-friendly. Expect to pay around $ 2 per taco. Skip the chicken tacos– they’re very bland. It’s home to the most charming and warm mini alter(see: glowing candles and Mary in the back of the restaurant section).

Tucked away in a corner near downtown, this place doesn’t exactly jump out at you. I was looking for something quick and easy for lunch and this seemed to fit my criteria. Overall I think it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for some quick and easy Mexican food and a no frills experience. I was happy with my carne Asada burrito and chips and salsa. I ordered the chips and salsa to meet the $ 8 minimum required to use a credit/debit card but I’m glad I did. I would have considered giving this place 4 stars, but even though it’s a no frills place, I expect better service than I received. The young lady running the cashier was being very impatient and condescending to the people in front of me. And she refused to accept my visa gift card because it didn’t have my name on it. She said she can’t accept cards without a name because it’s a fraud thing.(Ummm… Okay?) other than that she was very clear, concise, and quick at ringing me up. I’ll definitely come back if I’m ever in the mood for a quick burrito on the go. I want to try the tacos as well, they look great!

I found this gem while working on the a rental nearby and thank god!!. Its so unassuming and different. You walk in and order at the counter and then take your receipt to the hole in the wall. I love the steak tacos! Onions, queso fresco, avocado and fresh lime Yumm! Very authentic so fresh and friendly staff every time. I’ve also had the steak burrito, awsome! The menudo dish is bizarre foods indianapolis !!! Some sort of feet and stomach. Sweet! A few notes, and not a complaint but. A little bit messy and might turn off some customers but not me. Good job!

Did not accept credit card only debit card, not worth the debit card transaction and security breach down the road

Well it’s not the best Mexican tacos I’ve ever had. We went because they had $ 1 tacos on Wednesdays. Which it’s really $ 1.25 tacos. When you walk inside you have to go to the grocery part and order and then take you slip to the cook on the other side. Who makes the food and hands it out a little window when it’s done. For me the taco wasn’t seasoned enough and I just wasn’t use to that. However he was super busy and got us our food in a timely manner so it deserves 3 stars.

First time here… and I’m not disappointed. I ordered three tacos — chorizo, chicken, and steak. Chorizo was my favorite, especially with lime squeezed on it. It was so good, I went back and ordered another. Wednesday is taco day, and tacos are $ 1.25. The kids meals seem expensive: $ 4.99 for one quesadilla, taco, or something else(I can’t remember the third option), served with rice and beans. It doesn’t include a drink. My three year old had the quesadilla, and she enjoyed it. My husband had five tacos — chorizo(2), al pastore, barbacoa, and tongue. He liked the al pastore the best. Definitely worth coming in, especially on Wednesday. Next time, though, we’ll just order a quesadilla for our daughter, and we’ll get it all to go.

5 stars, for reals. The price is right and the quality is outstanding! I’ve sampled a variety of tacos on multiple occasions and I’ve always left feeling satisfied(not to mention surprised that some of the best tacos I’ve had are made in a tiny storefront next to a gas station on the near south side of Indy)!

I lived a block away from this place and it was great being able to order fresh and delicious tacos and walk them home. The little shop attached is fun to explore while your waiting for your order. Even though they have a couple tables I recommend getting your order togo . The only reason I gave this place three stars and not four is the limited choices and lack of dining experience. But for what it is its very good.

«Tex-Mex» is a delightful dive connected to a gas station and Mexican convenience store. Simply order & pay at the store register, then walk your ticket over to the restaurant window and ring the bell! Take a seat and watch a cheesy game show in Spanish while you wait for your order to be handed through the window. The food is nothing fancy, but it’s cheap and authentic. I like the steak or pork tacos; the chicken can be a bit dry. I always make mine a platter with rice & beans which are pretty basic here but still a must when I’m eating Mexican food. The cashier recommended I try the queso last time, and I’m so glad she did! It was runny, white cheese mildly spiced with peppers– I poured it over everything! If you’re in the neighborhood and looking for quick, cheap grub or authentic Mexican flavors… give it a try!

campechano with a flour tortilla is my favorite taco in the city. They use steak bacon and chorizo in these!

Tex-Mex is affectionately known by my group as «Gas Station Tacos», e.g. «Hey dood, wanna get some gas station tacos for lunch?» Although initially the site can be kind of intimidating, having the juevos to go there will be worth it. For the rest of you gringos, let me spell out the process for you. First, you go to the convenience store counter and order(for me 2 steak + 1 carnita). Next, you will give the order sheet to the taco man at the counter where the magic happens. After you eat your food, you will go back to the convenience store counter to pay. 3 tacos typically runs me… say $ 4(53 pesos), which is well worth it. The tacos aren’t as inventive and modern as other places(Bakersfield), but they are authentic and cheap! Come here. Fin.

This place is amazing. We went there with friends and two of us sorta speak some Spanish. That wasn’t necessary as the folks taking orders and making food for sure know enough english that a place like this is very approachable. Sometimes places that are authentic like this lack that, but this place covers that. They had good horchata, very good tacos and their chips were good too. The wife loved the green salsa, especially compared to some of the other«sorta authentic» places around. This is all the way authentic, all the way friendly, all the way clean, and is a go to for us now. We wouldn’t think a thing of taking guests here either, as it is really a great little cultural gem in our city. I highly recommend the chorizo anything, but especially the tacos.

This is a little hidden gem. If you like Don Pablo’s or On the Border, this isn’t for you. The little soft shell tacos, Mexican Coke(in the glass bottles), a death defying experience coming in from Morris where you have to drive on the wrong side of the road due to on-street parking and then do a Jersey multi-lane change into a parking lot through gas pumps, this is a slice of Mexico right in Nap Town. It’s dirt cheap and incredibly good. I can’t believe you’re not already there.

I’ve been coming to this place 2. 3 times this week for tacos, jarritos and quesadilla. I obviously underestimated how good they are! Wednesday is still a dollar taco!

Oh, close your eyes and imagine being in Mexico. For a good taco, huge burrito, or any of your mexican favorites, you’ve landed at the right spot. This place makes the very best tacos in town, in my humble opinion. You can’t beat their salsa verde, made in house from scratch. While the food wins you over, the owners are welcoming and treat you like family. Brush up in your Spanish if you are skilled, but NO worries if you aren’t. Spanish or English, you’ll taste buds will be happy when your food arrives. Your ears will be graced with the Spanish language, from other patrons, the owners, and the television. Wednesdays are my favorite nights to go, mainly because of $ 1.00 tacos(includes chicken, pork, and steak). Handmade tamales made on the weekends. In the winter, they make warming soups that will invigorate and enliven you on dark winter days. Mouthwatering marinated meat(I typically order the 3 steak tacos) is like no other I’ve tasted outside of Mexico. These tacos are prepared using two corn tortillas, a sprinkle of queso, your choice of meat, and either cilantro, tomato, or lettuce(depending on meat selection). Yum!!! Add some salsa and enjoy! What’s to drink? Horchata! REAL Coca-Cola(made with sugar instead of corn syrup). Jarritos(try the piña…pineapple). For bottles, there is a coincidently placed bottle opener secured to the wall. I need one of these things at home! Just so you know… You put your order in at the counter on your left(near the candy), then you take the ticket to the cooks(near the door). They’ll call out your order for you to pick up. Be sure to pay when you’re finished eating, it’s easy to forget since no one will bring you a bill. Also, be sure and tell them if you’ve grabbed a drink from the cooler. You can also get your piñata for your next party and some tortilla chips(oh, so good). Have fun!

Wow. I haven’t been in here in a few years — what a transformation! Sure, it is your average Mexican grocery with a taqueria attached, but my last visit was a cramped confusing mess. The expansion was nice to see and the clerk was very helpful. Step 1: Make your way to the cash register and ask for a menu. Step 2: Place your order.(everything is crazy cheap) Step 3: Take your ticket to the kitchen window. Step 4: Wait for your order to be announced. Step 5: Enjoy your food! My bean tostada was wonderful and the chicken taco was above average for the style. The price was perfect and I was satisfied. I will definitely be making more frequent trips.

Serving the best authentic tacos in town. They’re cheap, too! I go every Wednesday for $ 1 taco night. There’s even a Mexican soap playing on the television. It’s the real deal. It’s not necessarily clean and you have to pick up your order at the counter. This is not a fancy sit down restaurant so go for the food, not the service.
