It is open in Sunday. Don’t miss it. Half price drinks and no croded people. It is nice place.

Paid a $ 5 cover, walked in and it smelt bad. Walked out and they wouldn’t refund our cover. They argued that it was the fog machine and it didn’t smell like BO or shit so he didn’t understand the problem. No matter what it smelt bad and they were not kind about it. Half our group was charged the cover and half not for some reason. The Bride didn’t want to stay because it smelled and NO one was there so we left immediately, no money back.

I have a friend that LOVES Blu/Hyde. I have no idea why. Since my return to Indy in 2013, 90% of my adult visits to the club have been due to this friend. Thus, I do not visit the club often and when it happens, its for a celebrate of some kind. My friend will be graduating from Law school this Dec and to celebrate, he ordered another session of VIP at Blu. BLU has a few nice spots for VIP. This time, we were placed on the lower level under the stairs. After voicing our concerns, were were relocated to the 2nd floor. This area was nice and good enough for 25 friends. The larger VIP area is near the dance floor and very spacious; Last time we were VIP at Blu, we were in this VIP space. I would say 35 – 45 people can party in this larger VIP space, if not up to 50. The wait staff is always attentive. We had the African American young lady, who has served us many times before and does a good job. Being VIP in Blu also means you are free to access Club Hyde, which is on the backside of Blu. They are more of your R&B/Hip-Hop side vs Blu’s Top 100/Pop side. We always have fun going between both clubs. Its a 2-for-1!

This place bites. They don’t care about theirs customers at all. They recently kicked a young lady out who they had over served. She got sick. While in the restroom a male bouncer entered and told her she had to leave. He then escorted her out the door. She didn’t have her phone, or purse. He literally threw her out onto the street. Luckily she wasn’t injured or killed. Needless to say this place is dangerous to your health. And the customer service sucks. It doesn’t even begin to deserve a one star rating. If I could give it a negative I would

Where do I begin with this place? The DJ’s are very good, and that is about it. I travel all over the country and this is probably one of the top places in Indiana, but pales in comparison to any large city. I have to laugh at a prior review re: the bartenders getting plastered on the job. I witnessed it personally. When women are hooked up with free shots to that degree, some poor guy’s credit card probably took the brunt of the damage. The women from Indianapolis that come in, let’s just say…‘clean up nice”. They are caddy and start fights with any woman them deem as competition. I witnessed a very large woman attack a very petite lady from behind and throw her to the ground by the hair… over dancing with a male patron. Patrons stepped in and helped before a bouncer escorted her out while the male patron did absolutely nothing about the situation and ran and hid in the men’s room. Later on, the woman proceeded to somehow get past the bouncers and back inside and she charged at the same woman again, all the while punching and kicking at patrons who stepped in to protect the person. It is a shame that ‘cat fights’ are not taken seriously in many bars and clubs. If this were two dudes, they would be police escorted out and banned from the club. Bullying at it’s finest right there. Can someone please contact Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue to deal with this place???

A bit delayed. Went here with a young crowd on a Friday night. Music was average! Mainly commercial and hip hop. Weird crowd. There were some… um… mature citizens. Not exactly the scene I was hoping for. And I had some mint shot which totally made me sick. Dont think I will be seen here again. But if you just wanna get wasted and dance from side to side then you may really enjoy this place.

This establishment is more of a dance club than a lounge with two«VIP» areas. There really aren’t too many people here. Type of music played on a weekend is mainstream dance music you hear on the radio. The bartenders are fairly tentative. This is probably because the place wasn’t too busy. This establishment is on a row of bars, where most seem to prefer than lounges or clubs. I did see some posters of some EDM Events with some famous DJs, so I assume they will receive more patronage when those events happening. Other than that, I would say this place is pretty average when it comes to a lounge. Establishment: Lounge that plays mainstream music. Ambiance: Upscale(kinda) Service: average Return visit: nothing special, but maybe.

Make sure you check your credit card statement the next day. Our bartender was chugging bottles of some drink(smirnoff, maybe?) to show off to guys then the next day we found false charges on our account that we have to dispute with our bank. Blu had a nice atmosphere, non-smoking(though people did light up) and played a lot of newer music spun with the 80s. Hyde is much more comfortable and inviting with mostly hip-hop and clients here were much friendlier. Staff could be a little more welcoming all around. Guards and management were scowling all night — not sure if this is just because they’re dealing with drunks or they have an image to uphold. As a non-drinking visitor, though, that was a little off-putting. They could definitely use more bartenders and staff. My friend had to wait 30 minutes in line at Hyde just to get a drink. I’d recommend that if the VIP seating has not been used by 1 am, open it up for others to enjoy because that seems like a bit of a waste of space when it’s already crowded as it is. And honestly, who is going to pay $ 190 for a $ 40 bottle of Grey Goose just to sit down? Chances are, those people are going to show up sooner than 1 am. They’re charging enough for drinks($ 7.50 for a rum and coke) to warrant opening up seating to everyone else.

Blu is a medium sized nice nightclub lounge with two separate venues BLU and Hydeaway. Blu is more house and top 40 music and HydeAway is HipHop, Two DJs every Friday Saturday with some of Indy’s best talent on the decks. Limelight, Slater Hogan, John Larner, and Buck Rodgers frequent the booth just to name a few. Drinks are a little higher than local college spots but helps keep the rif raf away for an extra dollar a drink. BLU still has specials except mainly Saturdays like most local bars. Bottle service VIP is normally priced compared to other lounges. Check Keepin It Deep promoter site for special guest DJs and get in early to avoid cover charges. Dress code is enforced and business casual to an extent. Dress like an adult and your likely to get in. Some people will argue that Indy clubs try to pose like big city clubs. I’m not sure why people still want to compare Indianapolis bars and nightclubs or any city for that matter to Vegas Miami New York and Chicago. These are the biggest party cities in the country and have the economy to support huge clubs with multimillion dollar venues. Blu is a mixed crowd most nights except Wednesday which is Latin Night and Hydeaway is almost always the grown Hip Hop crowd. Expect a cover charge after 11pm usually.

My husband and I went on a Thursday night because of the advertised deals on Nuvo and Blu’s own website. When we got there, the bartender told us the specials which where not the same. The were still good deals: 50 cents for domestic 10oz beers and $ 3 Absolut COCKTAILS. I don’t normally drink cocktails(and the beer selection wasn’t interesting me) so I just ordered a cosmo– I kind of know what that is and it’s a COCKTAIL that was made with Absolut. We ordered more drinks and when we got the bill, it was $ 30. We got 1– 50 cent beer and 3 Absolut cocktails(@$ 3 each). The bill was 3 times what we were expecting. My husband asked the bartender why the bill was so much. He explained that cocktails made with soda or cranberry were $ 3.It would have been nice to know that MIXERS were $ 3, not COCKTAILS as we were informed by the bartender. The whole experience was highly disappointing and not worth the incorrect quote the bartender gave us. I would really appreciate our $ 20 back.

I love Blu. Awesome bartenders, good DJ’s…not as expensive/pretentious as Sensu and 6.(Well, everything is better than 6)

Not close to any ultra lounge in a major city. the $ 5 charge is really useless and the place is cold and kinda creeky… the furniture is ok and the people weren’t really dressed like the name and other reviews suggest… Maybe with a little work it can be transformed into a more upscale place. Also the smoke was offputting since most larger cities have banned it.

I didn’t actually go to Blu — I went to Hyde, their sister club around the corner. It’s everything a club should be… dark, minimalist modern décor, with a huge bar in the middle. I like that they have a 4 sided bar in the center of the room… the dance floor is in the back. I would have given this place 4 stars simply because the DJ played Justice v. Simian«We Are Your Friends» sending a wave of nostalgia through me for those halcyon days of yore when I lived in Chicago and there were bars that spun great electronic music on the regular. I take a point off because the dance floor was all wet, and when I went to throw a can of red bull in the trash, I slipped and fell. Right in front of the cute boy that was dancing with me! So for that humiliation, and the fact I did not get the digits, 3 stars.

My house is a fantastic place for a party. The layout is just perfect one side is all bedrooms the other is a long greatroom and Dining room. I’ve exploited this in my décor and furniture to mean lots of smaller areas that aren’t exactly seperated but still clearly defined their own little domain. Blu is great for exactly this reason. The atmosphere is fantastic and it’s layout makes it an ideal place to mingle seperate and mingle again. And I am speaking from experience as I wound up running into another group of friends while there with my work peoples. The music was great but truth be told I was there for the DJ’s. And now we move on to the drinks. I asked the bartender to wow me with a cocktail and he made this icky peach scnapps vodka thing that girls are supposed to like. Oh well it was only six bucks. I’ve had that crap before but only at the type of dive where the bartender thinks a snakebite is a fancy drink and I’ve never paid six dollars for the privelage. Maybe I should of been more specific but the way he threw the bottle around made me think he knew what he was doing. Oh well he was pretty. Yeah shake that drink… So I went to my old staple whiskey on the rocks. Which was great its obvious they don’t doctor their whiskeys. But seriously ice machine chips is all you’ve got? Sigh, If I’m going to pay eight bucks for topshelf whiskey I want it paired with ROCKS Dammit not pebbles.

Indianapolis has a long way to go before its nightlife scene is comparable to that of Chicago or Los Angeles, or smaller markets like San Diego and Austin. But, thanks to Blu, and its most recent addition Hyde, I have some confidence that maybe the city will reach that level someday. They have done a great job in creating great events to get people in the door, the most notable being the Keepin’ It Deep Showcase on Thursday nights. It features some of the best national acts in the house/electronic genre. Friday nights are a lot of fun with Slater Hogan and then Saturdays with DJ Limelight. There have also been some great major events including the VIPink party that featured a performance by Kat DeLuna. The crowd for the most part is pretty nice, it can be hit or miss on Fridays though. I do like Hyde a little more, as it is a little more high end than Blu and slightly more laid back. But either way, there is plenty of room to move around so you never feel crammed. And VIPs get free 40oz beers, and you can’t beat that!

Just wanted to update that unless you LOVE house music, don’t go to Blu on Thursday nights. That’s all they play, and they don’t take requests. Friday and Saturday nights though still have a great mix of music.

If you’re looking to step outside the typical Indiana sports bar format and get a taste of a NY, LA, MIA, CHI ultra lounge scene on a diet, this is the spot for you. You may get fist pumping or glow sticks on the dance floor depending on the night and the DJ. With the addition of Hyde, I think Blu/Hyde will be more of a destination as the floor space is much more open and you can move around more freely on the busier weekend nights. If you want to go all out and get the VIP/bottle service, they will surely be able accommodate your whim. You’ll see a diverse group of people coming through Blu if you meet the dress code. I actually like the fact that you have to be a little more classy and sophisticated to get in. It makes the bar feel somewhat exclusive without going too far although I wouldn’t try to get in in shorts and flip flops. Everybody there is pretty laid back and ready to have a good time even when they get amped up on the vodka Red Bulls. Don’t expect to find $ 1 beer nights here. It’s definitely a spot where you have to pay to play, but by comparison to bigger city ultra lounges, you’ll get your money’s worth. Expect to wait a few minutes for the drinks on the weekends. There are always great DJ’s in the house from DJ Limelight, DJ Gabby Love, Slater, and international guest DJ’s are frequent on the decks.

I am in my 30s and I don’t really enjoy the«club» scene anymore. That being said I ALWAYS end up at blu. I go to the smaller lounge next door and after I have had a few glasses of liquid courage I rationalize going to Blu. 1st: The door man is cute 2nd: The DJ(limelight) is great! 3rd: I always enjoy the characters that I meet I always manage to have a good time and always swear I am never coming back. I do have one complaint. The cover charge. I have noticed that depending on the weekend the cover goes from $ 5 to $ 10 back to $ 5. That being said I still ALWAYS end up at Blu.

I tried going here one weekend, and it was a disaster, some one was shooting a rap video or some garbage and you couldn’t get a seat anywhere. I wish they would have just turned me away at the door. Other times I have been there and people were practicing a fashion show? I don’t know… I don’t understand this place. But I do know on Tuesday nights they have half price everything, and the bartenders are super friendly and super cool and make a great drink. Come by during the week and enjoy the dark atmosphere, everything has a blue tint to it, which I like a lot, and they have some super comfy couches to chill on, or just belly up, because the conversations on a quite night with the bartenders can be great.
