My boyfriend and I went up here at the end of December for a quick weekend getaway from the stresses of Seattle. The Wild Lily is on a back road right near a small river with an amazing overlook of the mountains. The view of the sun coming up on them was STUNNING to say the least. The area around Index is really beautiful, seemingly middle of nowhere town. Don’t worry though! There’s a small grocery in Goldbar, not more than a 5 minute drive. If you drive 15 – 20 minutes there’s an even bigger city. Wondering what you can do in the middle of nature without all the city stuff? We took a walk along the river to check out the scenery, and took a nice long hike up to Bridal Falls(ask Barack the owner how to get there). Otherwise we hung out and watched DVDs/VHF tapes. If you’re going during a colder month I would recommend bringing an extra blanket and maybe an electric hot water pot. That thing saved us at night by helping us to make hot tea/hot cocoa to stay warm. The Wild Lily was great, we would definitely go back!!!

What a great spot! My girlfriend and I went here this weekend and it was a getaway that was much needed and that hit the spot. Located only an hour and some minutes from Seattle, you’d think you’re in another world; one devoid of both hustle AND bustle and abundant of relaxation, serenity, and peace. If you’re looking to getaway, spend just over $ 100/night on a great cabin in a great location, give Barak(owner) a call at 360−793−2103 and set up a reservation!

A great weekend getaway. The hosts are very nice and provide a pleasant breakfast in the main house. The cabins are rustic, but well appointed. The best part is being so close to the Skykomish River… you can hear the water from the cabins and the entire property. Within walking distance to Index(which has a cool local history museum) and close to many hiking locations. The area is very quiet. The place is easy to miss when you are arriving – follow the directions very closely or you will have to turn around(like we did). Fortunately, they give you good landmarks to know if you have gone too far. Overall, we would go back again and probably stay longer(we only stayed one night) and do more hiking.

The Wild Lily Ranch is the perfect weekend(or even one night) getaway from Seattle. Perks of Index WA include: only an hour and fifteen minutes travel time, no mountain passes to cross, and yet it feels and looks like you are right up in the mountains. The Ranch itself has two cabins – one big and one small. We’ve only stayed at the little cabin and it has been perfect for a weekend away of relaxing, reading, and listening to music/radio/podcasts. They do provide a delicious home cooked breakfast, but one down side is that the little cabin doesn’t have any cooking appliances, so you either have to bring snacks to store in the little refrigerator or venture out to the Index Café for dinner. Overall I’d highly recommend this place for couples who want an easy way to get out of town to relax/be in the wilderness without the hassle of snow tires/chains.
