We had lunch today: Small chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy on both, green beans, salad with homemade Ranch, delicious yeast roll, real butter, iced tea, bread pudding, all for(get this!) $ 6.49 each! With a regular CFS it would have cost a big $ 7.99. The small size was more than enough. Service was very friendly and swift. Food was delicious and we will definitely return on a regular basis.

I went here with 4 other people for lunch and the food was good but not great. I ordered breakfast and everyone else got their lunch specials for 7.99. The prices are reasonable. I do NOT like cigarette smoke so not sure if I will ever go back until they stop letting people smoke in there.

If you’re looking for Comfort Food, then you need to make your way to R & K! It starts with meeting«Granny» and no not like the Beverly Hillbillies, more like Don Rickles. Don’t try to match whits with her, it won’t be pretty. Back to the food, its like you’re back home and mom’s whipped up one of her specialties for you. I went with the Hamburger steak smothered in onions and gravy with 3 yes 3 sides, mashed potatoes, corn and green beans. PERFECT is a word I would use to describe the food and service, we went during the lunch rush and received lightening bolt service from our waitress«Granny». Oh, its CASHONLY! No biggie as lunch for 4 was $ 40.00 and that got you twice as much food as you could get for your money at Mickey Ds. Go Now you won’t regret it.

My family ordered takeout for dinner from here last night. Steak and shrimp with 3 sides, baked pork chops with 3 sides, and a kids chicken strip basket. When my husband returned home, we noticed that the shrimp were not in the bag(ok no big deal) but the steak was rancid and food tasted old. Needless to say my whole family became sick with diarrhea. We will NEVER patronize the restaurant again. If you’re considering dining here… dont!!!

Stopped to try it out. Was very pleased and surprised, service was great! Food very delicious, as to the smoking and non– smoking area You could still smell the smoke, could gross you out but the good food made it worth while

I can’t say enough good things about R&K! My family has been going on a regular basis for years. My father is practically a staple! Many of the customers on any given day are regulars, some daily patrons. The food is excellent! Made to order! The wait staff is friendly and on point. Errors are rare but quickly corrected when made. If you have special needs that can be accommodated, they will accommodate them. R&K is a second home and the folks who work there are like family. This came to be the case not by the employees’ personality alone, but by the quality of the food at reasonable prices, which compelled us to keep going back. In time, we built a relationship with the owner and employees alike. If you are anywhere in the area and like Southern-style home cooking, none are better than R&K.

Was a little concerned when I read the review about smoking and we walked in through the butt littered parking lot, but it honestly wasn’t an issue at all(and believe me wouldn’t have stayed if it had been!) Don’t be discouraged by the the exterior that could use a facelift(or at least a good cleaning.) It just offers a nice contrast to a very inviting interior and good hospitality. We had a great breakfast and the coffee was good. Ranks up there with some of the best diner food I’ve eaten and we won’t hesitate to stop back next time we venture down IH-20. Next time I hope we are here for the lunch since the specials looked great with meal plus coffee or tea and desert for $ 7.99! I guess they can keep their prices so low because they don’t have to pay credit card processing fees(cash only) because the food quality was not sacrificed and the prices reflected a great value.

It’s diner style breakfast at diner prices. It’s exactly what you would expect and that’s why we love it here.

We had a late breakfast there this week. I was surprised they really don’t take debit or credit. Only cash or check. I couldn’t believe it when my friend told me, but they do have an ATM machine there! Country style home cooking. Not my favorite type of food but very good. I had the vegetable omelette with cheese came with 2 toasts and hash browns and salsa. Was enough for me to not feel hungry till night time lol!

The best home cooking outside your mom’s kitchen. No credit cards allowed, just cash. So be prepared for that. Kind, fast and helpful waitresses during the after church lunch run. Our family tried the pot roast lunch special, breakfast pancakes, BBQ beef with every different side. All 4 meals were perfect. Nothing was bad! We had leftovers they serve so much food! Very cheap, less then $ 30!

Great breakfast spot. The pancakes are the best and the staff is friendly. Small town café with daily«Blue Plate» lunches. The chicken and dressing is delish! Don’t expect anything fancy, you won’t find it here, this is your hometown coffee shop and a great place for a little comfort food.

A great little diner that has been here for years. Great breakfast with reasonable prices. And when the call you«hon» the food is always gonna be good. Service always friendly and coffee cups stay full. I hope to get there for dinner at some point!

Non smokers beware. I was looking forward to dining at this restaurant but they have a large smoking section in the back of the place. So I was not able to dine here. I understand the food is really good but I do not like to smell cigarette smoke and try to enjoy my meal. We had to go someplace else. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up before you stop in.

Yes really good. We will definitely do this again. Came on a Sunday prepared for a wait according to Unilocal reviews. Thanks fellow Unilocalers for posting that it was CASH only, we came prepared. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced. We got there just after nine and it was seat yourself but we had many tables to chose from. By 9:30 it was a bit crowded, not many tables left, but no waiting line. There was a waiting line for the ladies restroom. One seater. The service was great, everyone was friendly. The Unilocal map is wrong, the location is further down the street. 3311 is the correct address but it is East of Lakeshore Drive. We found it, so it’s all good.

One of our go-to places for breakfast. It’s rustic and might be deemed a hole-in-the-wall but the food is good and there is plenty of it. Servers are friendly and some of the older gals sometimes might even be called a little sassy but that adds to the charm. It’s usually busy on Sunday mornings so you may spend a few minutes waiting for a table. It’s a seat yourself place so you need to be ready to move when a spot opens! I haven’t tried them for dinner but chicken fried steak can be eaten any time of the day and theirs is pretty good. Also, it’s cash only but there is an ATM on premises.
