This place is closed down. They have been for 3 weeks. Sad to see it go. Pisses me off that they haven’t updated they’re site letting people know. Oh well, I guess the masses have spoken.

They are not Yunmy. I’ve tried better empanadas before. The place smell awful. No recommended and not going back. They have to hire a chef from Argentina to really start making empanadas good.

I came in & I was completely ignored by the staff. I was not greeted or acknowledged in any kind of way. Rude

Rude staff subpar empanadas, bust part was the sauce which they insisted had to be drizzled on the empanadas and could not be served on the side… If u want greasy flavorless food come here. I Will not return

We were very disappointed with our food and service. The empanadas were greasy and not very flavorful. We all ordered a side and didn’t get them until we had finished our empanadas after waving down someone in the kitchen because no one was out front. When they arrived there was no sauce or flavor. The 2 people who we did see working there were teenagers and didn’t seem too interested in helping us. We left hungry and unsatisfied. We will not be returning.

The name says it all. Yummy Mpanadas serving yummy empanadas. Looking at the menu, the variety of choices will put you in empanada heaven. They have chicken empanadas. Beef empanadas. Steak empanadas. Cheese empanadas. Veggie empanadas. Sweet empanadas. Savory empanadas. Empanadas for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Empanadas for dessert. I enjoyed each one I tried. Their empanadas took me back to my high-school and college days in Miami. The outer crust was crispy, not greasy or oily and the inside of each empanada was cooked to perfection. My favorites so far: Brasileiro, Gaucho(though some might not like their picadillo with raisins), Spinach, and Chicken Pepper. I’m going to make it a point to try the Guava & Cheese next time I visit. Yummy Mpanadas does more than empanadas though. Their tostones aren’t bad. Ditto for the baklava. I like their chimichurri sauce as well. You can’t go wrong with regular or spicy. Overall, their prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and while they’re pretty far outside the loop(FM-1960&290) Yummy Mpanadas is definitely worth the trip.

Passing by on the craziness of FM1960 traffic, you wouldn’t really notice this place or pay much mind to it, I know I didn’t. However, I managed to get a groupon to this place, to finally give it a try and I haven’t looked back. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic. Brightly colored, decorated walls line the sides. The tables and chairs are all clean, and everything looks organized and welcoming, a place you wouldn’t mind spending the time to sit down and eat. The service(this isn’t a restaurant with servers and waiters, keep in mind) was great. I was greeted with a smiling face when I walked in and, being that I had never had an empanada before, the employee and I had a conversation in which he recommended me the tastiest and most cost effective combo. The food only took 5 – 6 minutes to come out. I got two different types of chicken empanadas as well as rice and beans. All the food tasted fantastic and was hot upon receiving it! In sum, this place should not be over looked. I commend the cook, managers, and employees of this place because they truly have something special going on here! Even if you don’t have the time to sit, they even have a drive thru. Will definitely return, thanks Mpanadas!

I’ll be in Houston for a short period of time, and this place is delicious! Great empanadas, clean environment and a friendly staff! Recommended for sure!

Well I guess I’m a little biased because my husband is Columbian and I’ve been eating the real deal for years. I tried the Cuban and the chicken pepper which were passable. But then I ate a Hawaiian which was just too sweet for me. Overall, i would try it again, I’m hoping that this one experience was a bad one.

We were driving by when I see mpanadas! Me being Colombian I told my husband! This is the place… I was a little bit disappointed when in the menu I didn’t see any colombian empanada! But I order the gaucho and the guava empanada and my husband order brasilero and the chicken pepper! Omg delicious!!! Really good empanadas! And costumer service is really good! I would love to see in the future a colombian empanada in the menu! I’m coming back to try the crêpes!!!

I called in my order & mentioned a promotion, was given the discount over the phone. The order was ready quickly. I had to ask for the green sauce(chimichurri) after I got to my car & realized it was not in the bag. The food was good, not great in my opinion but I will probably try again, especially when I am tired of the typical burgers, chicken, pizza etc. & want something different.

I totally recommend this place. I ordered the Cuban, Mediterranean, Hawaiian and a sweet empanada. They were excellent made with a lot of flavor. My favorite was the Hawaiian since I love pineapple. I don’t give them 5 stars just because not like other empanada places they charge extra for the chimichurri which is the sauce that you mix with your empanadas. They don’t charge in other places like this. Besides that I recommend this place. It is very clean and good environment.

I wasn’t a fan of empanadas until I came to this place, the selection was confusing at first. Once you’ve kind of become familiar with what you’re about to eat, it makes it much easier to decide. Let’s talk about the store and people itself. The store owner(or at least I believe he is) is super friendly and is genuinely open for suggestions. The store organization is a bit inconvenient — as you finish your meal, the bin to throw trash away is on the far back end of the restaurant. At first I couldn’t figure out if I were to throw away my own stuff, or the staff will do so. Alright the good parts — food. I normally get the lunch special — 2 empanadas of your choice, an side of rice & beans, and a drink. Empanadas on their own contain their unique flavors though I can imagine for an unfamiliar tongue, it can seem a bit bland. You’ll definitely want to pick up a sauce or two. My favorite is the spicy chimichurri. These empanadas unlike other ones I’ve had, have a very flaky and surprisingly light texture. As greasy as the paper that its placed on looks, it is actually not. For a beginner, I would highly highly highly recommend the Cuban — which is like a pizza without the sauce, and the Very Veggie — … do I even have to explain? Lol I’ve only had two types of dessert empanadas here so far — the Venus Pineapple which is super super excellent, and the Danis, which was quite a disappointment considering the combinations of strawberry/creamcheese would be able to offer. They previously had hummus and pita bread, but have taken it off recently which was quite my disappointment. Organization of the store, the discontinuation of hummus and pita, and a general lack of suggestion for a beginner from the staff is the reason for a 4 star rating. Other than that, you’d have a blast eating here. Guaranteed

Went here yesterday for lunch, ordered the lunch special. Got a beef and potato mpanada and a dessert mpanada. Both were good. Loved the pita chips. Rice and beans were tasty as well. Nice change from burger and fries.

My fave’s are dessert, yes sweets galore. Cakes and treats, apple and pineapple’panadas, i can’t get enough of em.’ Get a club card and the more you buy the closer you get to free offers and discounts, which’ll lead to more mmm’s in the Mpanadas. I could go on all day about the menu but my words do your stomach and your taste buds no justice. Try not to blink too often while driving by or you might miss it. It’s tucked-in a small shopping court on a busy FM1960 road. Service is comparative to the best every time. They offer samples of anything on the menu & everything I’ve tried is too guud and it’s true!

I’d heard about the place but never tried it. I work nearby off of Eldridge and West and decided on a whim to try it out for lunch. It was pretty empty, so there wasn’t a crowd to contend with or loud noise to put up with. The M-F lunch special is around $ 7, and you get 2 empanadas of your choice(no breakfast ones) along with rice & beans or a bag of chips and a fountain drink along with complimentary pita chips. The Mediterranean style empanada was«okay;» it seemed a little bland to me, but the chimichurri sauce gave it a bit of a kick it needed. The Chicken Pepper was just wonderful, and the chimichurri only made it even tastier. The pastry itself is also wonderful, probably the best empanada pastry I’ve had. I had two of the«meal» empanadas and a dessert pastry – the strawberry nutella empanada – and wasn’t left with an overly bloated or disgustingly full feeling, just guilty for eating 3 empanadas! They are very light, crispy and don’t taste the slightest bit greasy. Wonderful customer service. The two staff on hand were friendly, and the young woman who helped out was very friendly and polite. Highly recommended. You don’t find many places that serve«good» empanadas like this around town. Definitely a hidden little gem on the northwest side.

The empanadas at Yummy Mpanadas are quite yummy. The dough encasing the flavorful fillings inside is fluffy and light and made of flour(not quite like the fried corn ones I’ve had before). I tried the Brasilerio and the Mediterranean at $ 2.50 each. The Mediterranean was my favorite with the special treat of pecans blended in spices and meat. I had two and they weren’t quite filling just by themselves, but when I added the Tostones(fried plantain), it made a satisfying meal. The Tostones were pretty great. I was disappointed that only 4 came in the basket, but by the time I finished the 3rd one, I had to seriously ask myself it I could handle another one. I ate it with the Chimichuri sauce, which was good, but I’ll probably try the cream cheese next time. Be prepared to be slammed with a confusing mind explosion when you see their menu. It can be quite overwhelming to look at the huge board and believe that all of those are empanada flavors. Don’t be intimidated, just choose from their Meaty, Cheesy, Sweet or Breakfast list and you won’t be disappointed. As a plus, they also have some other Mediterranean choices such as gyro, crepes, hummus and falafel. The staff was helpful. They brought me some crispy pita chips while I waited on my food, and halfway through my meal they checked on me and even offered to get me a refill. This place is great for a lunch change-up from a regular sandwich or hamburger.

These live up to their name… YUMMY! We went in today for an early lunch and were very happy with our meal. Between to two of us we tried out the«Burrito», «Chicken Pepper», «Cuban» and«Spinach» all of which were delicious. They were packed with filling and fried to crispy perfection. Also, at about $ 2.75 each it was a great deal. After these we split two dessert empanadas, the Dulce de Leche and Strawberry Nutella, both good but the Dulce won hands down as the best of the day!!! The place is small but cozy and very clean, parking is easy and the workers very friendly. We will definitely be back soon!

I hate giving bad reviews, but I have to give an honest assessment of this place. I was looking forward to giving this place a try since you don’t see many empanada places around Cy-Fair, and the other Unilocal reviews were pretty good, too. This is where Unilocal steered me wrong. I walked in during lunch around noon and was pretty overwhelmed with the menu. From the menu, there’s a dairy, meats, desserts, pizza, and breakfast section for you to choose from. After I ordered, the guy behind the counter gave me a basket of pita chips to munch on. That was nice. I think those free pita chips were the best tasting thing I had here. Brasileiro meat — ground beef with onions and potatoes; the fried pastry was dry and crunchy, and the meat filling was super dry and tasted old. It was gross. I couldn’t finish one bite. Venus pineapple — the girl at the counter recommended this as her favorite dessert. It was also disgusting. The pineapple filling wasn’t even good. The empanada shell was the same as the beef — dry, crunchy, and flavorless. Hawaiian — mozzarella, pineapple, ham; this was mostly cheese. Ham was cheap and salty. Garlic sauce was an extra charge and did not make any of the empanadas taste any better. Baklava — I love baklava! I am in love with baklava. I’m practically Middle Eastern myself. But these were not yummy baklava. I should have known better than to get these from here when I saw them on a tray. They looked old and sad, but I wanted to give them a try anyway. The girl at the register said they made them there, but I don’t think they make them very often because the baklava was dry, old tasting, oily and just sad. This was a complete waste of $ 12. An extra star goes for the easy parking and free pita chips, but otherwise 1 star for the empanadas.

I read about this place on Houston Press, and rarely does a new restaurant in my neck of the woods get coverage. Also, I love empanadas. Seriously, hand held pockets of food? Yes please. I’ll even admit to eating Lean Pockets b/c I like the idea so much. So, husband and I stopped for breakfast while waiting for other errands to be completed. I didn’t know how big the empanadas would be(ok fine. I was hungry and don’t like to share when I’m hungry), so we each got the breakfast special(3 empanadas/$ 5.99). A little on the expensive side, but I felt like spending a little extra to help a local business. We ordered the Spanish tortilla(tomato, onions, eggs); Rumba(eggs, cream cheese, sausage, ham, potatoes); sausage, egg, and cheese(2); potato, egg, and cheese; ham, egg, and cheese. For all the egg and cheese combinations, there was a good amount of each ingredient, everything was so fresh, and you can taste each filling. The downside was that it needed more seasoning. More salt/pepper and salsa on the side. You can purchase chimichurri or salsa for another $.75. They have hot sauce or siracha on the tables for you, but really? Salsa isn’t that expensive if you make it. Also, I had this amazing tomato purée in Spain that would be really simple and delicious side. The Spanish tortilla really made the tomatoes stand out. I really feel like this one is hard to execute because the tomatoes and onions could have made the fried empanada soggy. But they managed to strike the right balance of moisture and flavor. The Rumba was also very crave worthy. We loved the flavor of the fatty meats mixed with the potatoes. We were a little surprised by the cream cheese(not really a fan usually), but I thought it was nice and not overwhelming. The empanadas were pretty filling and kept me full until about 3pm(ate at 10 am). 2 Breakfast meals with 2 coffees was about $ 16. A little expensive, in my opinion. I think they could have 2 empanadas(with a little salsa) + 1 drink for the same price and keep everyone satisfied. Also, it was a little busy that day, so there was a bit of a wait… like ~30 min. I appreciate that they make everything fresh, but they’ve gotta figure out a way to move a bit faster. We didn’t mind too much because we were distracted watching the Premier League game on tv, but I heard a few customers grumbling. The girl behind the counter kept apologizing for the wait, and did notice we had been there a while, and offered us some pita chips while we waited(which were good!). We also struck up a conversation with one of the owners(we presume) and found out they were from Spain, and talked a little about FC Barcelona, and Spain. Very nice people there. They also serve crepes there, but it was a little too early for that. We’ll have to come back to try those. They looked yum. Overall, will be back, but they have a couple kinks to work out before I can give it more stars.
