The Astorian

I had been searching to find the perfect wedding venue for me (unsuccessfully) for a few months before I stumbled onto this place. I literally found it on page 5 of a Google search.
They didn’t even have a website up; just a Facebook page with pics of the construction. I could already tell that it was exactly what I was looking for. I called the number on Facebook (on a Sunday) and Joe called me back within 30 min. We set up a time for a walk through and he let me know that it was still under construction. Before I even got one foot in the door, I turned and told my parents and fiancé that this was the place!
From the beautiful exposed brick bar, to the huge wall clock, to the beautiful view of the city,…it was perfect. One of my biggest issues in looking for a venue was finding one without that colorful carpet that most venues seem to have. The Astorian had beautiful stained concrete floors with mosaic tile accents. I worked with Joe at first, then Deborah, and then Alexis. All were very friendly and welcoming. They worked with my wedding planner to figure out how to do my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception there and it all came out perfectly.
They definitely contributed to my perfect day!

I came here for a friend’s wedding. The outside and surrounding area is a bit underwhelming, but once I stepped inside, I loved all the décor, the grand central theme married together with big chandeliers. It was pretty big and gorgeous!

WOW! Talk about beauty! What an absolute gorgeous venue. I had the pleasure of seeing an amazing cover band and ring in the new year at this location. Everyone was very nice but the venue itself was out of this world!

My best friends got married here last weekend and I cannot get over how beautiful this place was. I had seen it with the bride a few times before they got married without all the tables, flowers, band set up, etc and it still blew me away.
My favorite part was the side bar area that she had set up in addition to the massive bar area. It was a private space away from everyone where guests could engage in more private, casual talk while sitting on chesterfield sofas. There was indeed a bartender a few steps away that had his own set up so that you didn’t have to leave the lounge area and go to the massive bar.
The lighting is romantic, dim in the right places, and beautiful for a wedding. The light fixtures on the ceiling are something else as well– you have to see it yourself, because they are pretty indescribable.
The space was large enough that I was never jockeying for position over another guest or bumping into anyone.
Every part of the space was able to be used uniquely and usefully for a wedding. Everything was a photo opportunity because this place is just so beautiful. It’s a modern take on old New York rustic.
I imagine this space could be used for anything, not just weddings– Christmas balls, work parties, galas, etc.

Attended a wedding at this venue this weekend. Beautiful setting! The sunset just prior to the ceremony was incredible.

This place is stunning. If I could get married again I would have my reception here or I would host any party that has a Great Gatsby theme. It is in an unassuming place, you would never guess that behind all the wharehouses, and the Target on Taylor, there is this gem of an event space that has absolutly the most gorgous evening views of Downtown Houston. It is truly beautiful. Usually places like this rely on the veiws and skimp on the decore, this was not the case here.
Huge bar with beautiflu leather marbled bar top, very cool mosic design on the floor. Rustic brick walls and the lighting is perfect. It does not distract from the views of the city at all. Plenety of room here for a DJ or a band. My only negative comment is that all around the main area of the space there is is a two step level. Now normally this is not a big deal and it adds more space for aditional tables/​people. However the steps are all black. Not very good for when you have ladies in heals, drinking. I know they are doing it for a decore asthetic, but when I was at an event there, i almost tripped down the stairs twice.
There is valet parking, and a elevator as the space is on the second floor. If you are inclined you can take the lovely stair case up to the actual venue.

Celebrated our company holiday party here last week. Great place! Beautiful views of downtown.

The Astorian is simply magnificent. I never considered having a traditional wedding, but after attending a wedding here several weeks ago, I’m beginning to have a change of heart.
Words really don’t do this place any justice. The picture tell a better story than I ever could. The views are spectacular, it truly felt like a magical experience.

My fiancé and I held our engagement party at The Astorian this past weekend and could not have asked for a better venue for our celebration.
The team: Deborah, Alexis, and Joe were awesome to work with and from day one made the process of booking a venue stress free. We never had to worry about losing our date and they were helpful during every step from our first tour to coordination during the event.
The space: A truly unique venue that fits a good size of guests (we had just under 300 fit comfortably). There are views of the downtown Houston skyline from one corner of the space and windows wrapping around ¾ main walls — we got an amazing sunset view. The details in this place are too many and too beautiful to describe in words but the ceilings, the chandeliers, the lighting, and the bar were a few of my favorite features.

I am planning my wedding with the Astorian right now and it could not be any better. I read a review from a previous Unilocaler saying that she had problems with Deborah and I could not have had a more opposite experience. Deborah was the reason that we booked immediately and worked around a possible date change. She has been in constant contact with my planner and myself and has been able to answer every question in a timely manner. I will update at the event, but I am so excited and recommend them to everyone planning a big event! Not to mention it is GORGEOUS!

I can only review this place from the tour that I got as perspective wedding venue. I must say their staff is very on top of things. They respond to phone calls/​emails very quickly. I was able to plan a tour and visit the space in a timely manner. I unfortunately, will not be able to host my wedding here, but I must say it was towards the top of my list. I love the space so much. They are still adding some additions, but I can envision it. It is by far the best space in town for 200 – 300 people if you like the NY style. If you’re familiar with the area, this area used to be where the President’s heads and David Adickes’ other creations used to be. It overlooks downtown for some beautiful views. The inside is elegant and classic.

I scheduled an appointment to view this venue as a possible site for my wedding reception. The appointment was at 1:45. We found our way to the actual place as there are other businesses in the building. It took us only 5 or 10 minutes to do that. Then when we got there, we went to the third floor and it was locked. Went to the second floor to see if anyone was there. No one. Went down stairs and no one was there either. I called their number 2 times and no one picked up. I left a voicemail too. So we walked around the building and someone who worked for the owner of the entire building was nice enough to help us out. He tried calling Joe the manager of the astorian. But his phone went straight to voicemail each time. So he told us he would unlock the place for us since he had keys for that. But as we were going up back to the astorian, it was open. The lady who greeted us Debroah was cold and uninviting. We told her we had been waiting for 20 minutes. She didn’t even apologize. She didn’t even really show us around or try and talk to us about the space. I told her I was having trouble picturing how to set the space up and she had nothing to say about that. I thought her job was to try and sell us the space. When we asked about catering she was short and rude with her answers. She didn’t smile the whole time we were there. Not going to spend my money here. There are a lot of nice venues in Houston with nicer people who work there.

We attended a wedding last night at The Astorian. This place is going to be the number one venue in Houston without a doubt. The photographs on their website depict the beauty of the building. Service, food, everything was exceptional. We are looking forward to another event to check out the views from the rooftop, which is described on their website to open this fall.
