Taqueria Anabel sits on the East side of Shepherd just a block North from the I-10 frontage road. You walk up place your order and they make your tortillas when you place your order, and that alone is awesome. When I saw they were making fresh tortillas, I was curious about the gorditas. And just like the tortillas they are pressed and thrown on the comal. I decided to do a fajita and and barbacoa taco and for third option I went with a chicharron gordita and I washed it down with Jarrito de Tamarindo. The fajita taco was OK. I think the corn tortilla saved that taco. The barbacoa on the fresh flour tortilla was really good. It had just enough grease, not dry or fatty. The best part of the lunch was the chicharron gordita. The fried pork skins still had great flavor sitting in the salsa, and having it stuffed in the homemade gordita was great. Top all this off with some fresh salsa, onions, and cilantro and it makes for pretty good lunch. Once again you get off cheap, less than $ 10. So when you go across I-10 on Shepherd and your coming up to Cornish you will see 2 taco trailer, the one on the left is Taqueria Roxana and on the right will be Taqueria Anabel, I would recommend Taqueria Anabel.
