When Texian Army, one of the supporters groups for Houston Dynamo, chose this as their bar this year, I was extremely hesitant. My experience from 2012 was not good, and I had not stepped foot in this bar since then. Nevertheless, I obliged since it’s always best to be together with supporters of the same team when watching a soccer match. We have had eight watch parties previously when the bar otherwise would not have had any business. It’s not uncommon for us to show up to the bar, and there’s NOONE else there. We have given this bar a lot of business this year, averaging 20 people per watch party when they wouldn’t have had any other business. Fast forward to today, our ninth watch party, when the Dynamo game ended right as the Copa America final started, and what did the bar do? Abruptly change the Dynamo game to Copa without any warning. We had less than two minutes of the Dynamo game left, and the national anthems for Copa hadn’t even started. Any soccer person knows(and this bar claims to be a soccer bar) that national anthems and ceremonies(coin toss, etc) take at least five minutes. There are countless, alternative ways this bar could’ve handled the situation: –Nicely ask us if the game could be changed due to an influx of people coming to watch Copa –Warn us ahead of time that the game will be changed –Change the channel like they did abruptly, but then compensate a drink for the inconvenience –Put up signs warning people the two games are back to back(Lucky’s & the Phoenix does this) The bar did none of these things. We had people who wanted to stay for the Copa final but ended up leaving because of how rudely we were treated. Your loyalty means nothing to this establishment. In addition, the food is overpriced for the quality. I’ve ordered the scotch egg(so overcooked, the egg’s gray) and cornish pastie. Neither are that great. The tuna fish sandwich was pretty good, but I can make that at home. I’ve ordered waffle fries and have had a hard time giving them away because they are not good. Add to the fact that their drinks are $ 2+ more than other bars I frequent, and I will not be back! P. S. My view is my own and not on behalf of the group. However, there were at least two others in attendance today who also will not be back.

Best pub in town! Been around since 1979! They must be doing something right! Best place in town to watch football! Really enjoyed watching The COPA matches here! Whether you are watching sports or just hanging with your friends or trying to make new ones– it’s the place to be! Food is great & so is the staff! Tell your friends!

Richmond Arms is a fun place to hang out with friends, have talks, and watch the game. The service is up and down. The food is pretty good and you know what you are going to get. Most important, the beer is good and there is always a nice seasonal selection.

Good pub food. Large beer selection. Sit and relax with friendly bartenders and wait staff. Becoming a rarity in this area of Houston.

Great beer selection in an otherwise limited area(Galleria) in a traditional British Pub which was why this place received three stars from me. The reason this place took a hit review wise from me was because of the food. Very subpar — I’ve had better at other pubs. Pub nachos was just a handful of tortilla chips with shredded cheddar cheese and sparse toppings. Definitely not one of these high piled pub nachos that you see in most restaurants. Wings were over sauced and the bones were black. Ordered the open face roast beef w way too much gravy along w a heap of mayo. Made me almost wonder that the sauce on the wings and gravy/mayo were overdone to compensate lack of quality of meat? We had a friendly server which was nice. I would just come here for the beer and outdoor seating. There was a few other sportsbars nearby with outdoor seatings which probably has better food.

RA! The bartenders are always awesome here. Decent prices and good pub grub. This is my Friday night go-to since most of the bars around this area no longer have darts or have closed.

I came here around 4pm to check out this spot and see the beer options. There are so many options. Its kinda dark and décor is old. Staff was friendly. I chose to sit at the bar to talk to the bartender to inquire on all the event and specials they have normally. My only diappointment was the fish and chips. I thought it was a bit pricey for a bar($ 14). It was very bland with no flavor. The fries are well seasoned. I’m unsure about the other food but overall will be back. I recommend the fries and onion rings.

I definitely see the appeal as a pub, and for that I would have given it four stars — but we were here specifically on a quest for the best fish and chips in town, and on that I give it a 3 to 3.5. The pub atmosphere is great, and it has several large picnic tables outside under a tent if you want to catch some natural light(the inside is almost totally dark). The downside is you’ll also get Richmond traffic and secondhand smoke. Eh well. There’s one TV outside and at least one large screen inside, on which they were playing a Premiership match that day. It had a small crowd, whether for Chelsea or Everton I couldn’t say… but I see why Houston Press nominated it for best place to watch football. The fish and chips: I liked that they used fresh Atlantic cod.(Tilapia in fish and chips is just a travesty.) The fish itself was wonderfully flaky and tasted great, even though the batter needed more flavor.(More salt maybe?) It has a crispy enough exterior, but not the kind that shatters apart when you stab it. I doctored it with malt vinegar and was pretty happy, even though the menu had said«one pound of fish» and the two fish that came with it didn’t look like it measured up. The chips were good, all perfectly crisp yet fluffy on the inside, and cut just a bit thick. I’m not sure I’d make it a destination for a fish and chips craving, but I would certainly come here to watch football and soak up the atmosphere(although at $ 6 a beer, pre-gaming may be advisable).

This place looks nice and has plenty of parking but very bad service. I really wanted to like this place and wanted to try the food and beers but after sitting down at the bar for 15 minutes and being ignored by the ugly fat waitresses I decided to leave. I do a lot of business traveling around the country and this is some of the worst service I have seen, it must be a Houston thing.

One of the best non-pretentious British pubs in our fair city. This place has been around for a while and it shows. If you’re not looking for it, you will likely drive right by it since the trees have grown up around the building and sign. They have ample parking and great service everytime I have visited and eaten there. I like the shepherds pie and sitting in the back room off to the left, by the fireplace, on a cold night. If you come to watch soccer, sit at one of the long community tables in the main seating area where you can make new friends pretty quickly. You may soon find yourself meeting one of the many ex-patriots that frequent this pub to enjoy the soccer on one of the tvs.

«When in the course of human events» ah, forget about our past disparagements with England for a night and get to this British pub. We had such a great time! My friends had a night-before-the-wedding party here and our service was fantastic with just pitcher after pitcher flowing of whatever cider or beer we were ordering(and, I’ll admit I totally joined the groom and we went very«basic» for a night ordering several rounds of one of the pumpkin beers on tap) — of which there is a large selection of both beer and cider. When our crowd was getting a little out of hand ordering, the bartenders were quick to take the groom’s order of only he, his fiancé and the best man and maid of honor could order. While there wasn’t British music playing, the tables and interior were in that English cottage pub décor that adds to the mellow drinking ambiance there. Kudos to our waitress Amber(I hope I remembers your name correctly!) — you were on point that night! Bravo. Great drinking pub.

This is the kind of place that you wish was near your home. It doesn’t matter if you wear shorts pants dress shirt t-shirt whatever. If you act like an adult you get treated like an adult. This has a very home like feeling and everyone is welcome. There is an extensive beer list. There is bar food. They welcome dogs. The servers make sure you are well taken care of. They have an outdoor patio. Why oh why is there not a place like this near my home? This is home base. A place where you start and end your night. Enjoy.

Never been to this place but it seemed pretty cool! They open really early so that you can watch the games you desire! I didn’t really grab any food because I wasn’t in a good mood but the next time I come, I will set try the food!

When you move to a new neighborhood one of the first things on your to-do list(other than unpacking) is finding your go-to neighborhood bar. My roommate and I visited this pub on our first week living in the Galleria/Uptown area, and we have been regulars since! The beer selection is great, food is on point, and service is with a smile. Causal, welcoming environment. Great place to kickback for a low key evening with those whom you love the most. 5 stars!

What a cool little place to head for some craft beers! The bartender was super cool and had great recommendations for my friend who usually sticks to silly domestic beers. Their selection on tap is great — they have about 70-something different beers to choose form, lots of them being local. I will definitely return in the near future!

Arsenal soccer = ! Pretty good selection of beers! Food is okay — it’s pub food! Nothing extraordinary just pub food! It’s chill place — Saturday evening they have karaōke — based on the mood you can find others singing extremely annoying or hilarious! Later is the case most of the time

It’s definitely a Western European pub. Dark and cool on the inside. Beer is cold but not ice cold(just like the euros). Large choice of craft beersThey play soccer games at this location often(not the real football), so if you are into that sort of thing this might be a good spot for you. The food is bar food which is average. Overall it has a foreign ambiance that I enjoy every once and a while.

We started coming here a few weeks ago and love it. The pub inside offers a warm and very British feel, with low ceilings and folks chattering about in those distinctive English accents, each one a little different than the other. Ample beer selection on tap, the imports are top notch as well as the craft brews!!! Brilliantly well done!!!

I really REALLY like this pub. It’s a cute British-style pub with an excellent beer selection and a nice variety of great food. The bartenders and waiters/waitresses are really nice and make good suggestions for food and beer. Their food is good as well, especially for a pub; I ordered the Pub Nachos with lots of jalapenos and it was great. My friends ordered the turkey burger and some finger food appetizers(jalapeño poppers, chicken strips, mozzarella sticks) and they were good as well. Particularly, the turkey burger was quite large but my friend said the turkey burger was very good and tasty. There is ample amount of parking(a HUGE lot on the side of and behind the pub), which is an excellent plus. There is lots of seating available, especially outdoors on the deck. They have a game of darts available as well, which is loads of fun. I went on a Friday night, and they played lots of mainstream music(which is great if you like the mainstream music on the radio). There is also karaōke on Saturday nights. One thing I must warn is that the outdoor seating is on a deck which has uneven planks and lots of steps, so just watch your step whenever you walk around outside. Overall, I believe this will be a «go-to» pub of mine to have a nice beer and good meal.

My boyfriend loves this place, so we usually end up stopping by on the weekends. It has a great selection of beer to choose from and a pretty diverse menu with a mixture of American and British items. I love how the inside is a dark, wooden pub and then the outside is a large wooden deck that looks out on Richmond. The people that come here are pretty mixed. I would say that the crowd is typically a little older than my boyfriend and I, but there are some 20 something’s every now and then. The food itself isn’t great. I’ve had a few of the items and I wasn’t a big fan. Maybe it’s just that I don’t like English food? Who knows. Overall I’m not going to say it’s the trendiest spot, but I have had a great time every time I have been.

This is my favorite bar for football games(the real football, not where you crash into each other like dumbasses). I am a Barcelona and Argentina fan. Everytime I have been here for a football game;(world cup 2014, UEFA champions league, Copa America etc.) it has been a wonderful time. Great crowd, good beer, good friends. Only con, parking is a pain in the rear end during football games. That only goes on to show that the right people are in the right place at the right time.

After a visit to England, I was hoping to find authentic fish and chips with English peas, but I ended up dissapointed. The fish was basically two oversized fish sticks without any flavor. The peas were also nothing more than out of a can. On a positive note, my burger on a prior visit was good. The beer prices are outrageous as well! I ordered a Karbach Love Street Kolsh beer and was surprised when I received my bill that it was $ 6.25 per pint! The parking lot is in need of repair and the«For the love of god remove valuables from your car» warning signs posted everywhere does not offer a lot of warm and fuzzies. A $ 25 lunch with mediocre food and expensive beer does not warrant a return trip.

This place has a great beer selection and the pub fare is like the stuff I ate on a recent trip to London and Glasgow. The beer selection is varied, great. Lots of local beer, and of course British beers. Came here looking for a bar near my apartment to make my regular drinking spot. I wasn’t sure what the beer selection was going to be like, but I was pleasantly surprised when they had a whole wall of taps, and a Saint Arnold’s Cask ale. I was blown away. I could drink here for sure, but how was the food? I had the Scotch egg for an appetizer and it was interesting. I thought the best part of it was the chutney/jam they served with it. It was sweet, spicy, perfect. For dinner I had the Liver and Onions. I’m a firm believer that if you can make liver and onions good, everything else will be phenomenal. These liver and onions are great, especially with their gravy. I’m getting hungry just writing about it. Also, do yourself a favor and spent a little extra for the Heinz Beans. It really rounds out the experience. So if you’re looking for a great pub with great pub food, then get your arse down here!

Great English Pub with a huge beer selection, good food, sports on the TV’s and a large outdoor picnic bench seating area for groups or a few friends. Bit of a «sausage bar» for single guys looking for women, but still a cool place to go. I always come by when I’m in town from LA to have a pint.

I came here because they market themselves as a «soccer bar» but when the U.S. Plays Mexico a month before the start of the gold cup, they showed a pretty cold shoulder to the idea of showing the game in favor of a meaningless rockets where they were favored by 12 and a trivia game. They also do not play the sound for any games. It’s not worth it for soccer.

Just a few blocks from the most pretentious and expensive eateries Houston has to offer, Richmond Arms is a welcome oasis of good ales, solid food, and a fun and friendly crowd of anglophiles. Ignore the abundance of neon; there has to be SOME Americana, right? With two tap stations at the bar and a wall of taps behind it, there are no glaring omissions to their beer selection, which includes Bellhaven, Harp, Guinness, Newcastle, Newcastle Werewolf, Strongbow, Smithwick’s, Fuller’s ESB, London Pride, and a host of others. The hot wings are decent but not spectacular, and the Scotch egg is satisfying(but strangely quartered). Don’t order the egg without the Branston pickle or you’ll miss out :-) There are several TV screens to watch your favorite football or rugby matches as well. Notice how I called them by their .eu names — I’m one of those asses that thinks it makes him cool haha I would write more but I’m headed to the Richmond Arms now for a game of darts. Cheers!

Met up with a friend for happy hour at this very hidden bar. It doesn’t look like much from the outside but it’s actually quite large with several distinct areas. They have lots of TVs — I am not much of a soccer fan but if you are, this is your place. They have a large selection of beer — the pale ale I ordered on recommendation from our waitress(Kendall?) was excellent. Service was attentive and friendly even though we only had 1 beer each. We happened to be there on Trivia night which made it quite noisy but otherwise no complaints. Would return.
