Everytime I pass by, I keep wanting to give this place a second chance. And when I do, I tell myself«never again.» Breakfast is the only edible meal($ 5 for omelet) and made to order by a grumpy Hispanic lady who complains that the owner is never there in the morning and she is all alone by herself. If she is making your order and another customer walks in, she frantically tells the next customer that she cannot deal with he/she until she is done with her current order. In another words, expect delays. Lunch is always a miss with no hits. Over seasoned and over cooked meats/veggies, but somehow, they always manage to get the rice undercooked. If you are a Chinese food restaurant, please get the rice right. Last draw was ordering curry chicken with white rice for lunch. There were 3 cubes of chicken, 4 carrots, 2 potatoes in my lunch box over rice. Rice was(sigh), again, undercooked. Curry sauce had a sour taste to it. All that for the price for almost $ 8. Never again. Not even when they are located right in my building.

Super nice owner & staff. Great prices & good food. I highly recommend the Pork Vermicelli bowl, they’re even kind enough to customize mine(no noodles, extra lettuce) & given current dietary limitations it is greatly appreciated. Wonderful soups too!(Everything is great, just not on my current eating program.)

I don’t know why I like this place. The food is below average, but its close to my office, fast, and cheap. I guess even bad Chinese food is still pretty good. Plus adding Sriracha, soy, and/or sweet and sour sauce can make anything taste good. I don’t come here often but sometimes when I am in a hurry and craving Chinese food.

This little eatery is located right under my building. Might sound weird but they have a great breakfast spread in the morning. There is this lady that makes the best breakfast tacos(besides mine of course) I’ve had down town. It might look like a primitive set up with a hot plate where the lunch items are normally served, but don’t let this fool you. She can whip up a mean eggs and sausage breakfast sandwich. This is not the eatery you would go to late at night since it’s only open during the weekdays and working hours(typically 7am-3pm). Their lunch item is the typical Chinese food you would find at the local mall food court. But it’s tasty if you want some quick Americanized Chinese food. I mainly come for the breakfast in the morning.

I first ate here for breakfast one morning. I ordered a potato, egg, and cheese taco, and the first thing I noticed was the kindness of the lady who I presume owns/manages the café. The ingredients were fresh; hand diced potatoes, fresh cracked eggs(not diluted boxed egg mix), and glorious cheese; I love cheese. The bacon is great and is not cooked in a microwave, so it’s not chewy. The lady handles the food very well. The price is too low for the quality in my opinion. After this experience I chose to eat lunch there on a later date. I ordered the sesame chicken with noodles and the egg roll(they also offer a cream cheese filled wonton triangle); I presumed it would be a safe baseline for Chinese food. I could taste the freshness in the noodles; they are not dripping with oil and covered in a fatty sauce. The breading on the chicken was light and the sauce was very flavorful; the chicken was tender and chunky. Overall I was impressed with the ingredients and recipe she offers. On Wednesday they offer a jambalaya atop steamed white rice; that is fantastic. I’ve eaten here several times since my first taste. I am kind of a health nut, so I appreciate the quality of the food.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. After leaving for lunch later than usual, the line for Fuddruckers and Treebeards in 1100 Louisiana were both obscene. Even Subway was extremely crowded. Instead of waiting, we decided to see what was still in the Allen Center food court after the remodel. Not much. After striking out at Allen Center, we remembered the Hunan place we used to eat at every so often in Three Allen Center, so we gave it a try. It too had been renovated a bit, and for the first time that I know of it had a name: Red River. Except this wasn’t exactly the same place. Red River still served Hunan, but it also served a number of other things that were sitting in metal pans waiting to be served. Hamburger patties in gravy, a piece of fried fish, and other questionable items. We ordered Hunan and went outside to eat. I had the sesame chicken and the General Tso’s chicken. Neither were very good. The lo mein noodles were also not very good. They were probably loaded with salt and MSG, but the General Tso’s tasted more like chicken covered in ketchup. Egg roll: not good either. It was somehow soggy instead of crispy. By the time I was done I was already not feeling great. The food just felt like a brick in my gut. Stay away from this one.
