Paladora Lounge

Decent hotel bar, nothing special, drinks were served with a little extra from my original Tito’s and Cranberry. One drunk guy yelling and moaning about some guy who didn’t shake his hand and then the staff served him another beverage after he was clearly wasted.
The only reason for 3 stars is when I signed out the bartender chic didn’t give me my credit card back (I should have checked I know) but I was in a rush for restaurant reservations. I came back the next day and waited for 20 minutes and I finally asked yo wheres my card? She explains she has to wait for Lost & Found to bring it up… I said send it to my room. The next day I still had no card and went back the SAME process, and I said send it to my room ASAP finally a security guard shows up asking for my ID and to give me my card. Eholey! Check for your card next time Puff I know.

The Paladora Lounge is a bar in a hotel connected to a hospital. Hospitals are gross and can be stressful so I was glad that this bar is close by. Strangely, the best part of this place is the food. The food was awesome — especially the Wagu burger — wow. Service is a little slow and sometimes there was a lot of standing around by the staff but the lounge is nice and comfortable with plenty of TVs and most importantly — booze. Good stuff.

If you’re staying at the Houston Marriott Medical Center, then you are really limited on dining options. Paladora is one of the few places you can eat dinner if you don’t plan on driving out. They are probably one of the only restaurants that offers a full sit down in the area. The food is decent, but I am giving this place 3 stars because they have GREAT customer service. They are very polite and attentive. The ambience is also very nice. They are up to date with their décor (modern) and they have TVs all over the place.
The food: I ordered the Argentine Skirt Steak with Fries for $ 16. The steak was very ordinary… really, there was nothing special about it. It comes with chimichurri sauce… but it wasn’t all too great. The plating was horrible, the amount of fries they throw onto the plate made the steak look that much smaller. I also tried their Pulled Pork Tacos, which is good in portion. I would not say that they are authentic Mexican, but they are tasty. Lastly, I’ve had their Kobe Burger, which I found very good.
The drink: I ordered the Jack and Coke, which is a very typical drink. However, they make it super strong here… I guess that’s a plus!
Overall, this place is convenient if you’re staying at one of the hotels in the area. They are a sit down restaurant, so it’s nice to have that once in a while rather than the fast food that’s around. Also, the service is just great!

Poor service and poor quality
The staff didn’t pay us much attention, our food took too much time to get to us and though our bill was going to be substantial they treated us like we were drinking water. By the time we received our food and desserts we found 2, not 1, 2 very long strand of hair. One was in our salsa and the other was in the brownie.
I will do what i can to avoid this place.

Beautiful lounge with an excellent bar. Solid drink menu, including several tap beers available. Delicious food, especially the ‘Chicken Fried Chicken’. Very friendly, helpful staff, including the likes of Misty, Michael, and Trey. A must-​visit for Houston residents and visitors!

First off, WONDERFUL staff. Attentive and conversational bartenders.
Otherwise, the food was overpriced, not very tasty and I now know never to order a steak without the weight listed next to it. I had the Steak and Frites with ‘Shiner Bock Sauce.’ What I got was a plate full of enough fries for 4 people and a steak that might feed a 6 year old.

This is our Friday night go-​to for happy hour drinks. They have a nightly happy hour with wines by the glass, a few beers and some bar food half-​price. They also have a more comprehensive regular menu.
The bar food is good! We made the mistake of ordering the nachos without realising they can feed about 20 people (there were 3 of us), but since then we’ve stuck to the other items which are all appropriately sized and all tasty.
The ambience is really nice — it’s a fairly typical hotel bar but it’s usually not at all crowded, the seats are comfortable and it’s not noisy. The only drawback is that they frequently seem understaffed — the wait staff they do have are running constantly, so it’s not the servers’ fault that we often wait 10 minutes or more to order drinks, and several times the food has been lukewarm when it gets to us. But the room has several areas that are not clearly visible from the main bar, so it can be hard to get attention if the staff is focused on the main bar section. They need at least one more wait person in the after-​work hour or so.

I really like this little lounge in the Hilton Marriott; I am only upset that they now do not open at lunchtime anymore so I can no longer get their delicious seafood gumbo when they have it which is usually on Fridays. That is so freaking good: it has a deliciously rich roux which is not too dark and not too light, just a happy medium. It has just the right amount of seasoning and is not runny and is full of seafood.
Now, they have this Cesar Salad that is pretty good and damn near perfect except for the chicken breast. In my opinion, this particular chicken breast seems to have more a BBQ flavor which I do not believe works well on a Cesar Salad. The dressing is very good, however. The sliders are very good and tasty and offered in a quartet which includes a burger slider, pulled pork, brisket and I think there’s a chicken one in there too.
The lounge is a classy place and looks can be deceiving so don’t think you’ll end up spending and arm, leg and your right kidney because they have $ 10 offerings on their menu. The portions are ample and taste great.
Now my current problem is that I used to be able to eat lunch here, but they have changed their hours and don’t open until 2:00 p which totally sucks. If you’re in the area though or stuck at the hospital (Methodist) and want something tasty nearby, walk over and go up to the 2^nd floor and check them out.

Try anything! It’s all wonderful! After spending over a month visiting my mom in the hospital, Paladora served as a great escape and a relaxing break from the depression of the hospital. Everything we tried was prepared well and tasted great. The staff is respectful and social. The service is excellent. I hope I never have to spend that much time at Methodist Hospital again, but if for some reason I have to go back, I’m glad that Paladora will be there to help me feel better!

Great place to escape for a cocktail in the Med Center!

I was staying at the Mariott hotel unfort. For a very sad reason. But when I went to the Paladora lounge to first unwind and eat with my family I was overwhelmed with the wonderful staff and awesome food. On my third day there I was a basket case and was in a bad situation. The waiter working I think named Paul was amazing. I can’t even explain how awesome he is and how he literally made me feel so much better. I hope that he reads this and knows how grateful I am to him. He really made my unfort. Stay so much better. Thank you and for that and the amazing food I would highly recommend this rest. Also if you have a huge appetite and are with a big party share the nachos. Very large and very good! 6 of us couldn’t eat half of it!

A good hotel bar in the Texas Med Center, convenient to the Scurlock Tower. It is easy to become a regular. The happy hour food specials, especially the Slider Combo, are cheap and go well with the draft offerings — which are good for a hotel bar, and usually include at least one Real Ale beer — either the Rio Blanco Pale Ale or the Fireman’s 4.
The staff is great and will remember you after you’ve been there a couple of times. The only problem is that they sometimes seem to be flustered by unexpected crowds. Usually on a weeknight, the bar is not particularly busy.

The Paladora Lounge is pretty nice as far as non trendy hotel bars go. It’s contemporary and has a young atmosphere. The bar reminds me so much of the Paragon Bar at the Claremont Hotel in Oakland, CA. The seats are big and boxy often surrounding huge square or rectangular tables. It’s cozy and so comfortable. It’s almost like you’re in someone’s living room.
We stopped in for a drink to end the night around 11. It wasn’t so crowded and we were able to have our own private corner. The Paladora Lounge is great for late night bites, beer, Grey Goose, bubble water, and watching the game. If you prefer to stop in earlier, they have a nice looking happy hour menu. I think I saw $ 5 specialty mojitos. How refreshing.

Paladora is the lounge at the Houston Marriott Medical Center. In it I met a fellow soon-​to-​be Boston Marathon runner and another math teacher, and saw several rodeo attendees. I liked the subtly classy decorations, the Lone Star beer, nice service, and Mini Mo sliders. Chomp!
