Food was okay, my mother and I ordered the CW plate off the lunch menu. The enchiladas were not very good but the beef fajita taco was. The service wasn’t very great. It took awhile for someone to wait on us. The waitress was however, a nice lady. They were not busy at all so there shouldnt be a reason why they were so slow…

overrated, overpriced, and drab environment. We were charged for something we didn’t order. She said our dish comes with queso but it didnt… it was added. Bye Molinas

Terrible, nothing like it use to be. Slow to come to the table, bad service, uneventful salsa and tough meat and cold tortillas. At least take some pride in your restaurant. O that’s right it was handed down to you brats.

Mexican restaurants have 3 components in my opinion: 1. chips & salsa: average. Two salsas, one super hot and the other more mild. No green sauce. We also ordered the Joses queso(queso with spicy seasoned meat) it was plain melted cheese and some greasy taco meat on top. We added the salsa to it and it was ok. Not impressed so far. 2. Margaritas: smallest marg I’d ever had. it was happy hour and it was still almost $ 6 for what was probably 6oz. Nothing to write home about. 3. fajitas: their redeeming factor. Pretty good! Except they charge extra for sour cream and cheese. Which isn’t ok on my book. Service: great! No complaints here and our person came around quite a few times. I just moved to the area and this place was bumpin on Friday night! We went on a Tuesday and I can see how it would be a fun hangout — awesome outdoor area and a few separated rooms for parties and stuff. Our experience was ok, but I would rather drink tequila at home than pay that much for another margarita. tl;dr service-good; food-sub par

This was my third time here and I haven’t had any incidents in the past, food was pretty good previously so didn’t think today would be an issue. Walked in and was greeted, seated and order taken. I was charged extra for things that came with my meal, asked the waitress why and she immediately proceeded to argue and be unapologetic. I paid and left. Not returning here again.

Nothing special, food was good but not great. Hit the spot mainly because I was starving. Queso was weak and didn’t have much flavor and we even added the supposed seasoned beef. The waiter was great, friendly helpful and did a great job. Food seemed a little pricey for what it was. They do have a couple outdoor eating areas that looked cool and I imagine if you came here on a Friday after work with a group this would be an ok place to drink and eat munchies.

This place was a regular hangout 16 years ago. The food hasn’t changed. Still a good Tex-Mex meal. We used to joke about how bad the service was… That is the one thing that has changed. The service was great today. Not the best Tex-Mex, but a good meal at a good price.

Came out for tacos and was very disappointed. There was no spicy hot salsa and the salsa that was brought to the table was runny. There is nothing authentic about this food. My taco had ground beef and nothing else, no lettuce, no tomatoes, no cheese and no seasoning on the meat. My husband only ate 1 of the 3 chicken tacos he ordered because the chicken was very dry. The margarita I ordered was watered down.

The boyfriend and I decided to stop in and try this place because we were running errands in the area and had heard good things. Everything about it was so blah… The margaritas, while being strong, we’re not good at all. I couldn’t put my finger on what was wrong, but they just weren’t right. The food was the same way. Came out luke warm and not very tasty. The worst part was our waitress! I could barely hear her when she spoke and she was not very pleasant. Seemed bored the whole time and barely ever checked on us. The place was not even crowded. We for sure won’t be coming back.

Went their for a dinner last night. 15 minutes into the event, my truck was stolen out of their parking lot!!! My key fob alrm went off, I got outside wihin 20 seconds and the parking space where last I saw my truck was empty!!! Went back in to tell the 4 peple at the counter«my truck was just stolen, call the police!». Deer in the headlights. oh, me no speakie engri!!! AND there was another illegal driving around the parking lot in a golf cart wearing street clothes so you’d think he’d seen something? but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! me no speakie engri either!!! So I called the police after going back to the table to get my phone. poh poh shows up an hour later! NOBUENO!!! now the dinner. the event’s meal was served buffet style so you could eat all you want. it’s typical rice beans faita meats, nothing special. anyone can make this stuff at home. just throw in a lot of grease to add flavor and voila, you get mexcan food just like they make at molina’s cantina! since we ate buffet style, I can’t commnet on how much you’d get if you ordered the plated dinners? this store is in the old boston sea party location. VERY close to some real bad parts of town with a giant street(westheimer) to get onto and escape/blend in. So, bottom line, food average if just not regualr old texmex like everywherewe else in this town but VERY undsafe area of town. But where IS safe in hosuton anymore!!! Perhaps my misfortune with parking has turned me off on this place but that doesn’t change the taste of the food either. VERY average.

My wife and I had passed by this location quite a few times and decided to give it a try. We ordered the CW special for lunch. The food came out so fast it was almost two fast, like it had been sitting there under heating lamps ready to be assembled. After biting into our meal we just found it incredibly bland and flavorless. It taste just like a cheap tv dinner at best. The only thing saving the meal was the chips and salsa. Then they could not get my check correct. I definitely will not be back.

We were the only people in the restaurant and the hostess acted like she didnt know where to sit us. Staff was not attentive and avoided us after we complained about the watery gravy on our rubbery enchiladas. There were at least 10 servers there standing around talking and we couldnt get them to come over to give us our bill. Will not be going back.

Originally was going to have a house Margarita with an extra shot of herradura tequila, waitress suggested ordering from the bar list of margaritas. So we did. Nothing to write home about except, ridiculously small glass and when we got the bill for 4 margaritas and two beers it was $ 56. Ridiculous. Never this place again, would have spent less elsewhere for better drinks. And the worst is the valet parking is only option in a strip mall location, seriously ridiculous between this place and wine bar in same strip mall, neither is fancy, get rid of valet, disappointed with a waste of good money this weekend.

On a Sunday, late in the afternoon, the service was impeccable. Our waitress was constantly checking up on us, refilling our drinks and bottomless chips. She memorized our orders perfectly and bought them out quick. When we were done, she starred cleaning and had the checks ready immediately. The food was authentic and tasted great, albeit a bit more seasoning was needed. Especially chili powder for the chili, or anything to give it a kick that should be in all chilis.

Probably the worst queso I have ever EVER tasted. Fish tacos were decent. But I probably won’t return for decent food.

Waiter took the time to narrow down what i needed and it was a perfect summer time meal. He very busy too. Good food always tastes better when you also get great service.

Tried to eat there and failed. Service was appallingly slow and inattentive. After being seated on the patio I waited and waited. Realizing it had been a while I checked the time. …Nine minutes after checking the time I see my first staff member other than the hostess. Three people come out, crowd uncomfortably close behind me and discuss the parking lot or the area behind the patio for some reason. And they walk back in … never acknowledging my presence. At which point I decided I would like to eat sometime today and left.

Pork Carnitas were really good. I enjoyed the Queso and the cheese enchiladas. Been a long time since I have eaten there, but was really good a few years ago. Look forward to going back.

I am thrilled to award Molina’s Cantina my prestigious Unilocal Five Star Rating. My wife and I wanted some killer Tex-Mex. El Real is the obvious choice for a variety of reasons(not the least of which is killer Tex-Mex), but we wanted to go somewhere else for a change. We’d read a review by local restaurant gadabout Katherine Shillcut about Molina’s, in which she wrote about the Mexico City Meal, a multi-plate extravaganza that features hearty samplings of just about Tex-Mex staple imaginable(e.g., a crispy taco, a chili con queso puff.) That settled that. When I said extravaganza, I wasn’t whistin’ Dixie, neither. The Mexico City Meal consists of two plates — a «crispy plate» and a «hot plate.» The crispy plate arrived first(within minutes of ordering it), and I’d planned to eat the taco over the hot plate and let all the food migrate into one big glorious Tex-Mex heap. Sadly, we’d both destroyed our crispy plates just before we received our hot plates, so I’d have to postpone my experiment until another visit. It was just as well — by the time I’d polished off the crispy plate, I was done for. We took home piles of leftovers, and I ate my share this morning for breakfast. Molina’s is not the transportive experience that El Real’s is. The latter offers the idealized Tex-Mex meal you’ve waited your entire life to eat. Molina’s satisfies your primal urge to make a pig of yourself. Last night, we wanted to make pigs of ourselves, and Molina’s delivered big time. It’s kinda nice to get out of Montrose once in a while, too. We didn’t have to deal with the Montrose Brat Patrol, which was very refreshing indeed. Molina’s seems more like the kind of place local conservative talk celebrity Michael Berry might visit, during which he’d destroy the bar in a drunken, Incredible Hulk-like fit of rage. You don’t want to miss that!
