I really liked the quality and service that this place has. It seems clean and the staff is nice.

I go here regularly & it’s great. The pedicure is $ 25& it might be a simple place but they do a great job & seem clean to me! I’m all about cleanliness…

Just not good. Go somewhere else. Just like everyone else said. Montrose Nails is the place to be. 55 bucks for a fill and a crappy pedicure. Never again.

Not impressed. I walked in and asked if they could remove shellac from 6 nails on my hands(the rest had fallen off). Was left in a chair forever with both hands soaking in remover(vs cotton balls and foil on each finger). By the time they came back to me I had already scraped the remaining off. They removed from about 3 nails then charged $ 8. Pretty steep for funky service, guess I should have asked cost first. Torn leather chairs, staff seems overworked. Lots of better options elsewhere.

Horrible experience. Staff was rude, pedicure was over priced and the overall lack of professionalism was apparent. I will not come back here. My polish had to be redone because they sat a nail dryer on an unsteady surface and it fell over and ruined the polish.

I was surprised at some of the reviews on Unilocal.I love Mason Nails! I’ve been going here for 9 years for mani/pedis. I have really dry skin and cuticles. I always leave with great looking nails and toes. Sometimes there’s a wait but you can call for an appointment. If you walk in without an appointment and they appear to have a long wait, just make an appointment for 30 minutes to hour later and come back. Ask for Daisy, Van, or Dylan.

Came here with the intention of getting a full acrylic set. I walked in and was greeted by a younger guy who clearly seemed peeved that I was there(or so it seemed). He proceeded to ask what I needed and when I told him he faintly motioned to a chair. So I sat and waited… and waited. Finally a older woman emerged from the back and sat in front of me. When I specified what I wanted exactly she kind of brushed me off and started working on my nails. Assuming she heard my specifications, I let her work her«magic» which to my horror turned out to be the worst set of nails I’ve ever laid my eyes on. I asked for oval tips and literally got rectangle. When I asked to round the nails a lot more She only did the corners. Not to mention, my left hand set was drastically shorter than my right. I would’ve looked better with a bandaid on each of nails. Needless to say I will never return.

The ladies were nice enough, however the experience is one I’d rather not have again. The highlights include: fingernail cuticles trimmed so short/deep that my fingers were swollen and sore for days, used and non-sanitized equipment, and rushed service to the point that we weren’t allowed to pick out colors and forced to have to pedicurist choose them for us. This would’ve been a 2-star review if not for the days spent caring for my swollen and sore fingers.

I use to frequent Mason’s nails quite often before and the service was great. I moved to another part of town and it was no longer convenient for me to visit it. Yesterday, I was near their location and decided to stop in for a mani and pedi. The pedicure was less than okay. Not worth the $ 30 paid for it. When I stepped outside, I noticed some dark fibers from one of their towels, embedded in three of my finger nails. I went back inside to show them and they offered to «fix it». What they did was try to cover them with much more nail polish instead of redoing the three nails.(One of them had chipped, and they still opted to just try and cover it up with more polish). I should have brought it to their attention again, but I could not stand to be in their salon any longer. I will never visit them again.

I thought this would be a place that I’d like to be a regular at but my visit yesterday has forever changed my mind. I even went on an afternoon where there was no wait. The Vietnamese male employee there was absolutely rude — he didn’t acknowledge me and would hold my feet down so forcefully that I was cringing in pain. In addition, he spoke horribly about other people(including his main boss) to the other employees(whispering in Vietnamese). Then somehow, he could not even complete a french tip. Rather, he painted my freaking toes and never wiped the polish off my skin). In addition, he cut my skin so when he poured some of that rubbing alcohol on it, it burned like hell. The nails are abrasive and rough and well, too bad, Mason’s Nails, you have the worst employees and you’ve lost a customer who tips well.

This place is less than a 5 minute walk from my house… I have been here several times of the past 10 years… it has gone down hill… It is luck of the draw… some of the technicians are very attentive and focus on doing a great job… Others are always babbling in vietnamese and do not even paying attention… After my past 2 experiences I will never go back even though it is the most convenient and affordable just steps from my house. The last time I went here the place had no hot water… WTF…I mean WTF enough said… Today there were 4 technicians all speaking in their language and never acknowledged me or my partner… the lady doing my pedicure made 3 phone calls while doing my pedicure… she cut one of my toes… during the middle of the procedure she went and worked on another woman and then cashed her out and handled cash and never changed gloves… I was bleeding and it grossed me out… thinking back I would have asked her to change gloves… she also used the same utensil on me for my heal as the 2 people next to me with out sterilizing… OMG…again WTF… I went home and dowsed my nails in tea tree to prevent any infection. The place is very cluttered and dirty… the floors are soiled and the chairs are dated… several of the chairs had backpacks, food, and other items laying in them… the one next to me had a laundry basket in the basin… WTF there are also children being babysat with ipods and lap tops… Next time I would rather wait and drive to a place and get what I pay for and be treated like a paying customer Over the past 5 years the place has gone from 4 stars to 0

This place is ok for the price. Pretty cheap for a mani-pedi. If you want a full blown spa type service, this place isn’t for you. You get what you pay for and since I just want nice looking fingers and toes, they do just fine by me. It’s quick since you get 2 people working on you at a time, during the week atleast– never been on weekends. If you have a problem with anything, they’re willing to fix it.

3 stars … 2 stars … 1 star I guess Mason’s Nails is like that pesky ex you know is no good for you, but you keep going back to. Saturday, I had no choice. I dropped into Montrose Nails, and there was a 30 minute wait. With things to do, places to go and people to see, I couldn’t afford to waste that half hour. Onto Mason’s Nails I went. Within seconds of picking my pretty crimson color, I was in a massage chair, again with room temp water: no water jets blasting, no aromatherapy bath suds. I think it’s completely RUDE when the nail technician along with the rest of the staff gab in their lingo(Cantonese, Vietnamese, I can’t say what) the entire time. I’m not a total freak, but this makes me uncomfortable. How can I relax in my massage chair and sift through Marie Claire when someone is probably snickering at me. She barely scrubbed my feet, I had to tell her to do more, which she didn’t. Since I remembered last time it was just a few dollars more to also get a manicure, I asked her just to buff and clear polish my nails. She buffed each fingernail with 3 simple strokes. Really? For that reason, my clear polish is already cracking on day two. I could have used my $ 1 nail buffer from Sally’s Beauty Supply to do a way better job. Might have taken longer, but the end result would have been better. When she trimmed my nails, I also asked for rounded tips. Square is scary! What did she do? Square tips. I asked her to redo them, and she carried on about to paint my nails before I told her again: «I want rounded tips.» The only good thing about this mani-pedi is that you have two people working on you at once, and you get an arm and leg massage. Problem: Day after my pedi, I look down and see that my polish has been smushed by my socks! I put shoes on three hours after my pedi. I never got the fan on my toes like everyone else, so this is probably the reason. Now I have to re-polish my pedi. And as I mentioned before, my clear polish on my fingernails is already chipping away. Major problem: This places keeps busy. And I specifically remember watching on a news expo that per health code, nails salons are supposed to run bleach in the foot soaks before each new client. Did not see that once. Oh. My. Gah. I am NEVER coming back here.

this used to be my spot for a mani pedi. i came here for many years and although most of the vietnamese women didn’t speak much english, they were smiley and polite. there was usually a short wait if you walked-in on weekends, but i didn’t mind because i would just go next door to vanessa riley and see what kind of fabulous clothing she had on the racks. things have changed in the last 8 or 9 years. mason passed away which i was sad about(she was very sweet) and i’ve seen the quality of service slowly deteriorate since then. the service either seems too relaxed or very hurried. the salon is also getting run down and vanessa riley moved next door to grotto by the galleria. i’ve found a better place that i go to now called river oaks nails. prices are comparable, but it feels cleaner at the other place. this is still my favorite place to get my eyebrows waxed when i’m too lazy to pluck them myself.
