Did you know that they have a happy hour from 2−5pm everyday with half price appetizers?! I love the tofu lettuce wraps, so what a bargain for me. The vegetable egg rolls are also delicious and unlike other places, they’re garnished and presented very artfully and appetizing. Lastly, a shout out to the nice guy behind the counter, friendly and helpful as can be.

My family, friends and I have an annual dinner gathering at an Asian restaurant, and last year and this year, we have gathered at Mama Fu’s River Oaks. We have about 20 people usually, and this year it was 28. Mama Fu set up a whole section of the restaurant for us just the way we requested it, and we ordered appetizers for the tables. Everyone else could order their own choices at the registers. It worked out great. There was plenty of room for us to mingle and share food and good conversation, and those who were vegetarians had lots of choices as well. Drinkers could get wine or beer if they wanted, and another year was celebrated. We will definitely go back again as long as we can. Everything was easy, and we could spend as much or as little as we wanted. If you have a group event, this is a great option. Good food, good prices and good service.

Mama Fu’s? More like Mama eww. The food was as tasteless as Donald Trump, and the portion size was enough to feed a Yorkshire terrier. Not that it’d want to eat it anyway. Seriously, the soy sauce overpowered any taste that might have been there. It was like drinking from a salt shaker. Moreover, Mama Fu’s gave me and my girlfriend the Mama Poo’s. Also, it made me feel the Mama Blue’s. 1.5÷10, would eat again if bee’s died out and this was the last option for food in that godforsaken world.

Services was okay. The food was good but not amazing. I’ll probably come every now and then to eat.

I like this place for good Chinese fusion food. The sesame chicken is good, their fried rice is good. The egg rolls with the spicy chili Is really good.

Food just isn’t very good. Got pad Thai and wonton soup. Soup was okay. Pad Thai was weird… Tomato flavor, the chicken was fried or something, just did not taste very good/authentic.

Maybe it was because it was delivery food 15 minutes before closing time but the food was barely average, at best. The tofu seemed almost burned and the chicken was a bit on the rubbery side. The usual cheap Chinese food tastes better AND is cheaper than this. Only thing going for Mama Fu’s is their delivery. I’ll give them another shot some time but that won’t be for a while.

I ordered a delivery lunch as a treat, and it was supposed to be Sesame Tofu. Veggies tasted old, everything was oily, there was no sesame sauce and just a sprinkling of seeds, and the rice noodles I ordered with it were super greasy. Yuck!

Stephan and the folks that work their are awesome. The food is great we have tried asian food in New York, San Francisco, and San Jose. We have eaten at a lot of the great ones on Bellaire Blvd here in our home of Houston. This food is fresh and original. The portions are great and the service is nice.

Have ordered from the River Oaks location a couple of times and the food has always been okay, but after tonight won’t be ordering again. We ordered late for a Sunday, 8:15 pm, which was probably the problem, but seeing as they are open until 9 pm this should not have been an issue. Our order arrived quickly, but that’s the end of the good news. Food was mostly cold, my order was incomplete, ordered lettuce wraps, no lettuce and my husbands noodles tasted less than fresh. I called to report my order was incomplete, put on hold for 4 mins only to get attitude when the phone was answered. No apology and all the guy wanted to know was if he had to deliver what he forgot. It was now 8:50 and clearly all they were interested in was going home. It’s a shame. Houston’s a big city and the food delivery options are extensive. Mama Fu’s is no longer on the list.

A huge eating place as you enter but you wouldnt find many people dining. We hungry tired souls decided to dine here after shopping, sorry to say we were highly disappointed. We ordered two dishes, one appetizer and one entrée. Thai basil rolls and thai basil noodles«vegan». It took 10 mins for the rolls to arrive and then 30 more minutes for the noodles too. We wanted to leave the place. The food taste wasnt great. To much sauce. I would never visit it again. No wonder the place was empty. I wish i had read the reviews before x(.

Worst Chinese food ever! Mama fu nasty. Wtf. Seriously? Kung pao is breaded large slices of chicken that taste like soy sauce? Huh? Hot and sour soup had literally 3 tofus in it and the soup taste like soy sauce too? Can it get worse? Chicken green curry was delivered on top of rice. Really? Rice was soggy! Chicken in both dishes were large but dry. Will never order food again or recommend this place. Ever.

Don’t let the fusion trend and cool lounge style area deceive you into thinking that the food is wort while. The two times I’ve visited have been horrible. I got pad thai, a bahn mi, a spring roll, and another rice dish. The pad thai, for example, is drowning is this weird teriyaki sauce that is no where close to an essential ingredient. Take soggy cup of noodles drenched in soy sauce and there you have it, $ 8 pad thai. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Go to a real oriental restaurant than this place.

I’ve been here 3 times now and I’m not coming back. The food is just not good! All of the noodle and rice dishes taste the same to me: overly salted and bland. Every time I’ve been here I add excessive amounts of chili paste to my entrée in an attempt to make it more exciting and it still falls short. Today I got the Pad Thai and there was ONE measly piece of cilantro on top and a lime that I couldn’t squeeze any juice out of. It was very sauce heavy and extremely in-authentic. The side salad is nothing more than a Luby’s side salad with an «Asian» dressing that is extremely gelatinous. They could improve the salads a bit by simply tossing them with the dressing instead of serving it on the side, as the bowl is not large enough to properly distribute the dressing. I give up on this place.

I should have read the reviews before trying this place out. Just picked up lunch from Mama Fu’s and what a disappointment. I feel completely ripped off. The staff was friendly and the place if very nice, but it is overpriced for the portion size and quality of the food. I recommend driving a couple miles down the road to midtown for some real phở at a way cheaper price. Mama Fu’s noodles were over cooked, the texture was awful and the beef chunks were all fat. And yes – chunks instead of thinly sliced beef. The lunch special came with a side of crab rangoons. They give you 2 little rangoons, a cup of phở and a drink for $ 12. I should have walked out the door when I saw that a banh mi sandwich cost nearly $ 8 – how is that justified when you can get them everywhere else for $ 3-$ 4? It’s very close to my office, but won’t be visiting there again. I wish I could get my money back. :(

I like Mama Fu’s. I’ve gotten delivery and we’ve eaten in the restaurant and both times have been very good. I love that they deliver to my work and they are quick. I recently ate in the store and got the full experience. The service is quick and the interior is attractive, updated, and modern. We ordered and our food came out quickly. The lunch special is great. You get soup or an appetizer of two pieces and an entrée. I really enjoyed the pork egg rolls and got a cup of egg drop soup in addition to the special. The sesame chicken with fried rice was very good. Several of my coworkers have ordered delivery from here and we’ve always been pleased with it. Mama Fu’s a great lunch spot and high on my list of quick, delicious and inexpensive options.

Quick tips: Poor service(despite being empty) and lower quality food compared to my experience with other Mama Fus. Food: I used to have a Mama Fus next to me in law school and I would always get the tofu lettuce wraps. A staple due to the convenient location. I wanted to relive my lawschool staple and come to Mama Fus. However, this location had terrible service, low quality food, and I’m not in school anymore forced to consume food at the closest place I can find, while I’m studying for finals. So it’s off to bigger and better things for me. Service: Poor is the only way to describe it. We wanted to order at the counter and they forced us to dine in restaurant style. We figured with the dining area being almost empty, it wouldn’t take that long to get our food. It took us 15 minutes to get menus, another 5 for water, approximately 20 minutes to get our food. This is not a place that I am coming to sit and enjoy the ambiance. It is a chain similar to chipotle or pei wei and I want to get in and out(something I was not able to do).

I was really hoping to like this place since I heard it is from Austin. I heard that this is similar to Pei Wei. The décor is similar but I was overall disappointed in the food. The spring rolls did not taste good nor the food that we ordered. I had ordered the chicken orange peel with brown rice and my husband had ordered the honey glazed chicken. Both of our dishes were salty to the point that gave me high blood pressure. I had to calm it down by drinking tons of water. Granted, we came when it was opened a month. They might be better now but we have no desire coming here again.
