I went to care when asked me when I was long build my arteries with the factory to back. When I came in late I was not appointment. It was exactly what I was when I entered the place I found that the basement leak and they probably took care of me. After I decided what I want that back and rest of the literature to help pass the time. It was a long boarding team is going out towards my table. Including my right rack of ribs that I wanted. They were very succulent in the heat in the lease it. I don’t know how they got them so tender and it’s falling off the bone. I have not paid terrific that and any other place. I was really pleased happy. I left with a berry bowl and warm stomach a promise to myself that the next time I wanted to fill up my arteries I would know where to come

Love this location and the one on Crosstimbers in the north side! My husband loves the ribs and I like the chicken! Baked potatoes are excellent and huge! Definitely worth a try!

I’ve been here about 4 – 5 times. I looooove the BBQ here. The baked potato can seriously feed two people. They are not cheap with the ingredients. I also love getting the brisket from here. It’s cooked to perfection. The sauce is a little on the thick side… But other than that no complaints.

Had the shrimp po-boy at lunch time. It was pretty good. They put tartar on it when I asked them not to but they sent out a new one and it tasted great. LOVE that there is a drive through!

Ummm pretty darn average. Nothing to write home about, I did enjoy my chopped beef stuff potato but I could of used less bbq sauce. My husband’s 3 Meat plate was swimming in sauce, he also commented that his potato salad tasted store bought like from Kroger. Ribs were ok as well as the sausage… I wasn’t the biggest fan of the brisket, dry and flavorless.

Very tasty food and reasonable for the price. Just make sure you bring an appetite because the meat portions are large! This place is down the street from me an always wanted to go here. Good thing I came :^)

Best BBQ within a 10 mile radius for sure. Hungry Farmer has great meats, tasty sides, and all at a very affordable price. I can get a two meat dinner and a drink for under 12. I LOVE it. If you’re anywhere near the Hiram Clarke area and you want BBQ, don’t bother with anything else, Hungry Farmer is the place to go.

It’s average. Not a huge fan of the sauce they use. Very acidic and tart. Totally killed the flavor of my chopped beef sandwich. Speaking of which had quite a bit of gristle. The price points are on par with everyone else but doubt I’ll be giving them a second chance.

Had a rough start. I gave them many chances at first and its seemed like they have finally gotten into their groove so to speak. I love the fact that they have barbeque and country cookin(soul food) and even gumbo !! Do not miss that chocolate cake or the huge burger they have with EVERYTHING on it.

I was attracted to this place from their signage… drive past them most days on my daily commute. Usually I frequent beef n bun when I am in the mood for bar b wye but this place didn’t disappoint. The inside was clean but smaller than I’m used to. All of the sides looked delicious and the meat was well cooked. I would definitely recommend

5÷24÷1411:39am — I am a big fan of Hungry Farmer. I love their Crosstimbers location so naturally I wanted to sample their S Postoak restaurant. I like the whole vibe of Hungry Farmer. Lets start with the clever name that is a play on the idiom«Eat like a farmer». The décor is late 1970’s urban cowboy/truck stop/hunting lodge. The biggest kick are the horrible pictures of the food and plate dinners. These drab yellowish pictures look like something out of a 1970’s cookbook your grandmother owns. The pictures are as appetizing as a school lunch. They are wretched. How Hungry Farmer is not a Houston landmark baffles me. They have been around since 1973 serving great BBQ in some of the worst locations. So much better than the other Houston BBQ grandpas. I scored the S. Postoak Hungry Farmer an 84 out 100. Reserve Grand Champion BBQ. Not as good as the Crosstimbers location. See my earlier post. Smoke: Hickory. There is a large smoke stack in the back and a large stack of wood. They use wood fired Olyers at the original, I assume they have the same here. Brisket: Good. A sad slice compared to Crosstimbers. A 1/8in smoke ring beneath a thin bark. They got the tenderness nearly perfect. Flavor was just beef and mild smoke. Use the sauce. Ribs: Very Good. A big meaty Memphis style spare rib. Smoked slow and then thrown on a hot grill. A nice red smoke ring beneath a bronze bark with grill marks. The smokey porky rib meat was moist and tender. No sauce needed for these babies. Sausage: Excellent. A medium ground pork link with bold traditional spice and nice peppery aftertaste. It was moist and a little greasy and had a mild smoke flavor. No sauce needed. Sauce: Fair. Wow this was bad. A dark brown stew thick tangy spicy sauce. It was bitter and the sauce developed a skin, eweh! It made everything taste worse. Skip all together.

Got one of their more meat plates it was ok kinda chewy alot for the money, hubby hated it. that was my first experience… just to be fair this was when they were new, I ordered two daily specials turkey dinner I got home and started to eat and realized it was not turkey at all, BUTRAWPORK! I was so angry so I drove back and they were already closed for the day, it was a honest mistake but I never went back after that.

They got 3 stars because I wanted to give 4 stars for service. The food I would give a 1 and a half — 2. I had the pork ribs which is my litmus test at bbq joints. I came alone after church which is nearby. The ribs were a good size and had some flavor. What threw me off were the grill marks on the ribs. I’ve never in my 38 years of life seen very distinct(like they were put on commercially, for lack of a better term). I don’t know it is weird, like when there were fake grill marks on my corn at Applebee’s. I also had black Eyed Peas, they just heated up a can added nothing. The Mac and cheese was nothing special. I’m going to eat my leftovers but won’t be back. Well I may stop and try a sandwich one day.

What happened? When you first opened I couldn’t stop talking about you. Today I make that long drive over there and back to my surprise the food ain’t what it used to be. Did you change cooks? I asked for a sample of Ox tails, which you used to allow get home and find you have given and charged me for a full meal of ox tails n rice I didn’t even want. Gotta find me a new spot or go back and give Beef n Bun a second chance.

The cashier was very nice and explained the off the menu sides available that day. Our food was ready in less than 5 minutes, i guess that’s why they are able to have a drive thru. The portions are definitely living up to the restaurant’s name! I got the BBQ bake w/chopped turkey and could only finish 1⁄3!!! I got it with a side of extra sauce, which I think it needed because of how large the potato is. My boyfriend got the ribs and slice turkey with sides of red beans & rice and dressing. The turkey was very juicy and the ribs fell off the bone! The price is super reasonable especially for the portions they give you. I will be returning!

This place is one rose amongst weeds. In an unassuming location, I discovered this place on the way to my mom’s. At my annual Mother’s Day luncheon, I wanted to serve BBQ but, I wanted to keep the cost down. I asked my sister if she thought the food here was good and she said yes, however, my mom wasn’t a fan. Hmmm. How do I get over this hump — do I serve«nasty» food(as per my mom) on Mother’s Day or do I choose a more expensive option, like Pappas’? I decided to not tell my mom it was this place and lead her to believe it was from a different restaurant. Needless to say, she raved about the food and kept telling everyone how much she liked it. I revealed the secret after she was done eating and needless to say she was pleasantly surprised. More specifically, I really enjoy their pork ribs, brisket and sausage. They have really great beans and(generic restaurant-prepared) potato salad. They have HUGE portions and one combo meal could serve two people. I’ve never tried the desserts, however, they look pretty appetizing.

Be sure to check your order in the drive threw. Completely messed up my order and I didn’t have the patience to go back and get it fixed. Flavor is good, but service can improve.

Located between the hood and barios. Very out of place, Since it had metal walls and looks like a safe house, we went in. This bar-b-q joint was born on the same year as yours truly, and it serves to prove 1975 was a good year! Food: Beef rib plate special– This was the best ever! I literally thought there was a half a cow stuck to each Rib. So how big were the ribs, I’ll quote my co-workers in the break room. The intern: Is that a turkey leg? The pregnant Consultant/PM: Is that a brontosaurus burger? The Co-worker: Where is it?(She came back from that place shortly after) Had to switch hands because my arm got sore holding it. Fantastic food, loved all the sides, and enough portion to make 2 meals out of it! Sleepy…
