Best sesame chicken in town. Service is fast and they have the best lunch deal I’ve ever come across; entrée, rice, egg roll & soup for $ 5.

We order delivery about once a month. Our orders are always correct, they always arrive quickly, and the food is always delicious. We love the cream puffs, sweet & sour chicken, shrimp fried rice, and egg rolls!

If I am craving Chinese, Hunan inn is my go-to! The wonton soup and the egg rolls are out of this world. Seriously I have never had better. I use to love the sesame chicken, but I think I tired myself out. Now I get the chicken lo-Mein and it’s pretty good. But honestly… I come for the soup and egg rolls! The service is great. The same few people are always working and they are so friendly and attentive. The service is also very quick!

The food was great. The atmospher was quaint and perfect for a café. Yet the only thing i can say was it was not very welcoming. The service is distasteful. It felt as though they did not want customers to sit and dine. A couple that was there at the same time I was seemed very irritated. But I can add… go for the food not service. My seggestion(as i shall be taking my own advice on this) call order in and take away instead of dining there. Not a tip worthy bunch i should add. I give this place as many stars as i do solely for the quality of food.

Great quality Chinese comfort favorites and wonderful service. Décor leaves a little to be desired, but food quality and price keep us coming back each week. The sesame chicken is some of the best we have ever had(and we eat a lot of Chinese food). The Hunan Shrimp is very taste too. Dumplings are great, but take too long unless you call and order about 20 minutes before you arrive.

Visited this place for the first time after reading reviews and was pretty impressed. The sesame chicken was the best I’ve ever had and the cream cheese wontons were excellent! The spring roll was light and crispy and the veggies inside were fresh. The shrimp fried rice could be improved a little but it won’t stop me from returning. Their prices are very reasonable as well!

I was in the restaurant today after many visits but did not have a good experience. The sweet and sour chicken was extremely bland. I asked for extra spicy sesame chicken and never tasted any spice at all. The icing on the cake for me was when I went to the restroom located next to the kitchen. When I opened the door and turned the light on, my daughter screamed as roaches scattered around the floor. Unfortunately we had already eaten. When we checked out at the counter we told the lady in charge. She basically just shrugged it off as if it was no big deal. Won’t ever eat here again.

First time trying out this place. Heard good things from the students at memorial hs and I was not disappointed. The prices are reasonable and lunch specials until 4 pm. The hot and sour soup was just right. The vegetable egg roll was fresh and crunchy. I had the chicken with garlic sauce and it was pretty good. The outside is unassuming and shabby but the food makes up for the décor. Definitely worth a try.

I tried the General Tsao’s Chicken, the chicken was tough but good flavor. Wish it had more veggies in it. The restaurant is small nothing fancy, service was good.

Food is excellent. Only complaint is they keep the room hot. I was sweating by the end of the meal, even though I asked them to adjust the temp down.

I try to give restaurants a chance to redeem themselves, but the quality if service I got here with my experience here was horrid. To start off I came inside and was seated promptly. Only to wait 30 mins to finally get someone to service me. I was ignored multiple times and when I asked for for a menu the server had a horrible attitude. After finally placing my order, the food was below average. The sesame chicken I usually get was cold and had a nasty after taste. Service lacked all around. The time I arrived at this restaurant was hardly lunch time and there was barely any customers. Good customer service and quality food is a bonus in any restaurant. To be rude and deliver nasty food only to charge me with is a insult beyond belief. I will not be returning to this establishment. I feel as if every-time I come here my presence is a annoyance.

My wife and I have been coming here since before we met each other, and whenever in the area, we stop in. The food is fantastic. Hot and sour soup is the best I’ve ever had. I like the Kung Pao chicken. The broccoli is uncut and fresh. Gem of a place. Must try it!

For $ 6 I think this was one of the best sesame chicken dishes I’ve had. It was sweet and spicy. Yummy I will indeed be back. I noticed a lot people calling in orders to go.

Been coming here for years. Love the owners and their long-time staff. The food is consistently good. Everytime I’m in the restaurant I yell: This is the best Chinese restaurant in town. I really do yell that because I really do believe it and I’ve felt this way for long long time!!! ps — I NEVEREVER order crab puffs anywhere else, because I only like crab puffs here at Hunan Inn. Strongly recommend. Other favorites: sesame chicken, honey walnut chicken and their wonton soup is SO flavorful!!!

Came in with a friend for an early dinner. Got the dinner for two I had the pepper steak and I asked for spicy, very good. Was not too big of a fan of their fried rice, but don’t normally order it anywhere anyways. The restaurant was clean, the service was excellent, they interacted frequently with us. This was not chinese food that just blew my socks off however it was definitely tasty and the price made it a GREAT value. Will definitely visit again. Don’t know what to order? Go with the sesame chicken! My friend ordered it and I tried hers it was great!

Let’s speak positive first: The customer service was AWESOME! The lady was very nice on the phone and didn’t rush me. Even when I called to ask her for directions when got lost, she was very patient. The price is low. To get food in this area for $ 5-$ 10 is a steal. I ordered hout and sour soup and forgot to ask for fried wontons when placing my order. When I got there I asked the lady for some, dhe told me they normally charge but gave them to me for free. She also gave me a menu for when I order in the future. The bad: I ordered house special fried rice and I ordered it to be spicy. I’ve had dry rice. But this by far was the driest rice I had ever had. I mean seriously, I had to put 3 packets of soy sauce to give it some flavor and to get it moist. I even tried reheating the rice that was already warm to get it softer. I sprinkled a little bit of water first. The rice was so bland that I had to put 3 packets of soy sauce. I thought most chinese food specialized in flavor. I guess this one doesn’t. My real chinese spot has flavor and when I ask to make it spicy, it adds an extra kick. As Veggie Q. stated, Houstonians must definitely be used to mediocre Chinese food that they’re willing to accept this place. Espeically in this area. Again, their customer service is great so two stars for that. But that’s it. sorry.

I was invited here for lunch by one of my friends. Being the first time I ordered what he did. He was well known by the wait staff so we got great service. I will return again in the future to see if that holds true for anyone else. The meal was a Hunan triple that consists of sauteed shrimp, chicken and beef in a black bean sauce with fried rice. We also had soup and and a fried egg roll. The soup and egg roll came out first and then the main course. All of the items were delicious. The soup and egg roll were hot when they arrived and the main course was more than I could eat at the time. It has a little spicy flavor but not overpowering. I see why he frequents this place. Although it is a little distance from my job, it is well worth me leaving a little early for lunch to enjoy it.

I came here for lunch to celebrate a co-worker’s birthday. Claiming he loved Hunan Inn in high school, I was hesitant to get overly enthusiastic. Judging prematurely based on my former high school infatuation with $ 5 Little Ceasar’s, I was sorely mistaken. Because Hunan Inn is awesome in even more ways than their mega-long regular menu. The lunch menu, humbly paired down to a one-sided list of chicken, pork/beef, seafood and«other» options ranges in prices from $ 1.50 for soup to about $ 7.00 for meat medley platters. Each meal begins with an egg roll, a crispy 4 inch munchie that just barely flirts with oily sogginess. It’s still delicious, though that could have been the sweet sweet taste of its free-ness. And the cups of soup that followed were the perfect portion to avoid ruining appetites for the onslaught of Asian yum yum that was to come. When the first platter of sesame chicken and fried rice hit the table, we all looked around for a serving spoon and individual plates. No no. That was ONE order. The entrees are enormous, even at lunch! For $ 6.25 a pop, it feels almost larcenous. Patting our bellies and quickly sinking into terminal food coma, we routinely cracked open our fortune(more like general statement) cookies and brought our modest bill to the register at the front. Great for groups; wonderful for the cheap, the hungry or the time-strapped, this little strip-mall ensconced spot is a new Energy Corridor go-to. I guess high school tastes don’t ever leave us…
