We ordered a spare rib clay pot rice and a couple of other dishes tonight. I love clay pot rice, and I know it will take 20 to 30 mins. But tonight, it took about 40 mins for them to bring up the rice. When my waitress finally brought the rice to our table, I found the rice was too salty, I don’t want to waste food, So I brought the leftover home. When i got home, I opened the togo box, I just realized why they made the rice so salty. The rice at the bottom of the pot was over cooked. They make the rice salty to cover the over cooked smell!!! That’s the way they correct their mistakes. Used to love this place, won’t come back again.

Authenticity is definitely a yes!!! Food is good. Congee served in a clay pot boiling hot. The fried tofu with meat. Beef tendon and noodle soup are very good. The bean hot desert was exceptional — tofu fa. Seldom left over when we are here. Service is very good. Try it, you will like and love it here.

Good food, good service, sweat owner. Their congee is delicious. Their spicy fried squid is yummy. Bbq is a must try, usually runs out by night time.

You can’t go wrong coming here. The food is excellent and done right. The menu is crazy big and the prices are up there once you do the seafood dishes. Service is ok. I liked everything i ordered. Nothing blew me away but it was good. This place is definitely in my list of restaurants I’ll bring my friends and family that visit.

I have not been here in awhile and I admit, I miss it! This place has real authentic Chinese food. I order a bowl of congee rice soup most of the time and it never disappoints. Then I usually get an order of the BBQ pork and some white rice to share with whoever I am dining with while we wait for the congee. The price is good for the food you get and the tables, chairs, and menus are clean; yes, menus(the pages weren’t dirty so they did not stick to each other). They are open until 2:00AM I believe and I have been here a few times after a night of drinking as well… The most recent time here I tried their sweet tofu dessert and it was quiet good! Sweetened with some type of syrup and it had a lot of ginger, which went well with the sweet flavor. I encourage people who want something different for dessert to try it. Definitely one of my favorite places to eat down in Bellaire!

went back today with the entire family, everyone loved it! skipped the Peking duck, had(lightly) fried rice, steamed rice, sweet/sour chicken, fantastic jasmine tea, beef, etc… not especially fancy but clean enough. they bring each dish out as soon as it’s cooked, don’t hold all the dishes until everything is ready — perfect for hot food. besides it’s family style so dig in! waitstaff barely speaks english but it’s all good!

Authentic Chinese nomz Drinks: Hong Kong style milk tea was pretty delicious. Small size cup though Food: –Soft shelled crab fried rice was on point. The soft shell crab was generous. There was roe in the fried rice that enhanced the dish to another level — Fish and shrimp congee was really good also Décor: small cozy restaurant, there were several big screen tvs there though Service: the server was attentive and brought our group of 11 pitchers of water after ever dish they brought out Cost: after ordering around 8 dishes, it came out to $ 16 per person that included tax and gratuity Overall: I’ll definitely be coming back! Especially since they close at 2am!

Once upon a time, there was a was a college student who, in a caffeine induced haze, managed to turn in a major paper by the midnight deadline. To celebrate, he and his friends wanted to eat good Asian cuisine, but to their dismay, all the restaurants they knew were closed. When all seemed lost, they saw a ray of hope in the form of Hong Kong Food Street. Opened till 2 am, HK food street has a spacious and well decorated interior. The service can be slow but the food more than makes up for it. The congee with fish and preserved egg was on the thicker side(how I prefer my congee), and tasted amazing. Even though congee is what HK food street is known for, my favorite item is the baked seafood rice. In addition go brilliantly cooked squid, shrimp, and onion over fried fried rice, the dish is drizzled with cheese. I know what you’re thinking, cheese and Asian food? But this crazy mixture is perfectly complementary. All in all, Hong Kong food street is a wonderful restaurant for your late night Asian cravings. The food more than makes up for subpar service, though the prices are pretty high. Would recommend!

First time here and the worst experience. Me and my companion walked in the restaurant approximately at 11pm. We were then seated and the server was beginning to place our order, I started and I asked politely if I can order a a roast duck appetizer, she quickly replied that they don’t have any left. then she suggested to me bbq pork which was ironically next to the roast duck dish in the menu. I said«sure, I will try that but can I add a fried egg with it», she then replied to me in a negative tone«no». I continued with a polite tone with her«okay I will just get the bbq pork» moments later after 10 minutes, she comes back and said they do not have the bbq pork. I was very upset and me and my companion changed our minds and said«thank you but that’s what we wanted in the menu.», and so we proceeded to the exit, me and my companion left the restaurant. I asked politely if they had two dishes in particular, but it seemed I have felt a strange vibe with her attitude as if she was coming off to me very rudely when I tried to place my order. If you want to be discriminated, this is the place to go. I ended up leaving with no order and an unsatisfying experience.

3.5STARS While the food here is pretty good, it’s not the best. Their chow mein was quite good and was oily but not excessively so. We ordered it with gailan/Chinese broccoli and beef. The sauce was a bit salty, but otherwise was a plain oyster sauce base. This was actually done right since it was crispy and also chewy when mixed! Beef Chow Fun did not have a huge amount of wok heat, but had a bit. This was a bit salty as well but the noodles were great and not super oily! Roasted Pork was missing the crispy skin but since we went early afternoon, that was probably why. Otherwise, they had a fine slab of meat with nice fat layers and the taste was actually very good! I’m not a huge congee fan, but I did try some here and it did remind me of the congee in Hong Kong, so that’s that.

Well I had to say this is the first place with which I changed my mind so many times. Before I was outraged by the price and sometimes by the service(like I wanted to get roast duck leg with my noodles instead of any randomly parts and they tried to charge me extra $ 5 while the noodles only costs $ 7?). Now I am ok with it as long as I order right. My husband and I have been going back for the pot rice and fish soup noodles. They are like comfort food for cold days. In Chinatown, whenever the temperature drops, the hot pot restaurant always have long lines. We like hot pot too but the pot rice and hot soup noodles seem to serve the purpose just fine. Overall if you treat it as a restaurant the food is fine but definitely on the expensive side. However if you treat this place like a Cantonese cafeteria, it’s not bad at all. Won ton soups, noodles soups, pot rice, hot stir fried dishes with rice, are all good.

Always my first stop in Houston for quality Chinese food! Never a miss here. Honestly I’ve been here probably 10 times more than the listed checked-ins, I’m just too busy eating most of the time… hehe Best Wonton soup in the city! They don’t sacrifice quality. Every last ingredient is down to the details at this place. No other broth as good or clear. No other wonton as well stuffed and flavored. Best Congee too – smooth and well flavored! BBQ meats are always great! Seafood dishes are all loaded with seafoody goodness. Crab over rice, stewy watercress, list goes on! Price compared to rest of Chinatown is higher, but quality is always a cut above and beyond. Always coming back when I’m in town as long as they’re open with the same owner lady!

The food is so good here, especially for lunch. I always get the wonton soup or the dumpling soup, which is perfect for a chilly day. The environment is casual and its a nice hole in the wall. If you’re ever in the mood for Hong Kong style food, I definitely recommend this place.

If you are ever craving a fast, yet authentic Chinese meal, I would recommend Hong Kong Food Street. Out of all the other«fastfood» Chinese restaurants such as Tan Tan, Fu Fu’s, Sinh Sinh, or House of Bowls, this place serves some of the best Chinese dishes in all of Chinatown. Unlike the other restaurants, which cover their food in grease and oil, you will find that it doesn’t happen here. You can enjoy your fried rice without having to rinse your mouth of that oily mess every couple of minutes. The roast pork, roast duck and bbq pork that they hang at the window for you to see might not be of the freshest quality, but you cannot find any better unless you take a trip to Hong Kong. These three items are among my favorite dishes to order. I even ask for roast duck to go in my wonton noodle soup. And of course you can’t forget about the congee, one of the most traditional dish enjoyed by anyone from an Asian culture. If you’ve never tried it, then you are missing out. HK Food street has the best congee in Houston, in my opinion. The fish congee or pork and preserved egg congee are the most common choices, and made complete with an order of fried dough sticks on the side. The fried dough sticks is the main reason why I give this place 4 stars instead of 5, because they tend to be not very fresh and hard to chew. But I still can’t help but order it because that’s how I grew up eating congee, and dipping the fried dough sticks into my congee was the best part of the meal! One more upside is that they open until 2AM, 7 days a week! Being a young adult that stays out late on a regular basis, what better place to grab a late night snack at than HK Food Street? It certainly beats IHOP or Denny’s.

All I can say –a Chinese restaurant with authentic Chinese ingredients and prepared pretty much«home style.» Dinner menu — pictures of each dish. Went with vegan friend — he raved about how good his meal was! I had Squid & Chinese Broccoli. Prepared perfectly.
