Just had to write a quick review before I forget. Stopped this morning around 7:10 before taking the kidos to school. Wasn’t feeling well with body aches stuffy nose sore throat A sick baby in the back & didnt feel like getting out so I sent my 10 yr old daughter to order kolaches fritters & coffee. I didnt know it was self serve so these sweet guys came out to the car to see what kind I wanted * daughter got confused of all the flavors* and brought my coffee so my daughter wouldnt touch the Hot coffee. Thank you guys so much for the yummy food! Will be coming here more often for sure! Ps. A drive thru would be awesome here

It’s a nice place if you want to get a cup of tea and a donut. I like their donuts and they brew so good coffee, I go here twice a week. They have a nice price and everybody can get a free delicious donut by the way, it is a perfect idea and a good surprise to me every time. Also, when you will buy something here, you support a local business. I advise to taste various kind their coffee, each of its have itself a flavor and a taste.

Tony is the man! If y’all don’t stop here and give them try you need to reevaluate your life choices. They do their best to accommodate their customers and facilitate their needs. Super personable, generous and laid back group. Tony cares about quality and will illustrate that if you ever have an inquiry about any of the items on menu. Frappes here are way better here in comparison to its obvious competitors, no joke, I don’t have the issue toward the end of the drink where it’s just essentially flavorless ice slush… I’m looking at you, Starbucks And hello the place is clean what more can you ask for? Oh I know, to be open on Sunday’s

The fried apple fritters are good because you can get a few mini versions(the size of 2 – 3 donut holes each). There’s bacon, strawberry, banana, and a few more flavors. The bacon flavor is great becuse there are crispy pieces throughout. The sausage small cheese kolache is a link with a thin layer of bread around. It’s not tough bread but not fluffy either. They also serve a cuban panini for lunch. It’s okay and served hot.

The staff and owners are so very nice and always make us feel welcomed everytime we come… I really like the chocolate iced coffee and the blueberry fritters. … honestly this place is a bit pricey but so is starbucks… I really like the atmosphere and the vibe at this place … I heard the chicken salad was good so I will give it a try on my next visit …

This place was all around 5 stars! The inside is very clean and nicely set up and I like the simple easy to read menu up on the wall. The owner took my order, he was great and gave me a free donut which was delicious! I had the spinach panini and the flavor was great. I also picked up a coffee for my friend and she loved it. This will definitely be our Starbucks replacement from now on especially with how close it is to where we work.

Friendly staff, great service, strong and flavorful coffee, clean establishment. Do yourself a favor and try whatever flavor fritter they have available, but be prepared to LOVE the bacon maple fritter. Yes. Bacon. I am a tea girl at heart, so despite my disappointment with their chai latte, I am still a fan

Pretty good but expensive! I got 4 kolaches and 2 drip coffees and it came out to be $ 20. I think that’s a little too pricey especially since we had regular drip coffee. We had: Sausage cheese jalapeño — I really liked this one and the sausage was a nice size. Not the weenie hot dog. Ham cheese and egg — I was pretty impressed with this one! Spinach Cheese mozzarella — I also liked this veggie option. No egg but it was very good. Overall, I rate it 4 stars b/c it’s too pricey for the amount.

This is a very nice coffeehouse. When I visited they had southern pecan coffee. I had an Americano which was excellent. I also had a tasty kolache. I highly recommend this place. Everyone was friendly and it was very clean. They also serve paninis. Give it a try.

This place is wonderful from start to finish. Brenda, the very cute girl behind the bar, recommended a couple coffee drinks for me and ran off all the flavors they have, which is a lot! I got the Irish cream iced coffee and DAMN, best iced coffee ever! The owner was there and they were both extremely welcoming, talkative and really turned my day around. So glad I checked it out; I will definitely be back soon! Thanks guys for the hospitality and excellent coffee and sandwich!

Jalapeño Sausage and Cheese kolache are the best I’ve had around these parts. The espresso is also really good. I ordered the Americano which is just espresso and water. Because I was new they let me try the critters. They were really good. I probably wouldn’t buy them just cause it’s a total indulgence, but I could understand them for kids or the weekend maybe. Overall the staff is nice, and the food taste good. Little pricey. Like 3.50 for a kolache, but they claim quality ingredients so I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

Ladies and gentlemen, please gather round and take your seat. Now please allow me to tell you a little story about the place they call the GrindHouse. I got to hear about the GrindHouse while I was browsing my Unilocal app and noticed that this little coffee shop was located not far from where I work and that it had an excellent rating. Surely, I had to try this place out. So, when I was banking at the Bank of American not a quarter mile away, I made it a point to swing by this place. At first i did think it was odd that the owner would pick this location to open up their coffee shop because logic told me that anyone would have tried to open up inside the loop just a few miles South this location. But upon talking to the owner, he explained that this location provides him with excellent business from St. Pius X High School just steps away from the coffee shop and also from the City of Houston office across the street. Made sense to me! However, before I got to talking to the owner of the coffee shop, I was helped by the cute, friendly girl behind the counter. I came in hungry and wanted to try some sandwich. Alas, I’m not a big fan of ham and I decided to pass on their Cuban sandwich. Also since I didn’t feel like being a vegetarian or swallowing an insane amount of mayo on this day, I decided to pass on the panini and the chicken salad sandwich. Well, what then? How about a couple of kolaches?! Great idea, Belly! Kolaches it is then! I ordered one Big Tex Sausage kolache with cheese and one egg and bacon kolache. And let me tell you something about these kolaches, they are nom nom nomilicious. But since I’m a(fit) fatass, of course I was still hungry. I decided to try one of their doughnuts(Mmrmrmmm… doughnuts). Upon the girl’s suggestion, I ordered the Sundae doughnut. Around this time, the owner of the coffee shop joined in on the conversation and that’s how I learned about one of the reasons of picking this spot to open up shop(another reason is because they own the building. No rent = AWESOMENESS!!) Anyway, the owner is a pretty cool dude. He talked about wanting to expand the place if possible to add a drive thru window and to have a much larger display for the doughnuts. And he was excited that he would finally be able to put up a sign outside NINEMONTHS after he had placed the order for the sign. On top of that, he even gave me samples of the fritters that they had. Oh, I didn’t tell you about them fritters, did I?! Check this out: BACON. FRITTER. Now tell me if you’ve ever tasted bacon fritter before? I also got to taste the other kinds of fritters they had to offer: apple, blueberry, banana. And they were all delicious. I also got to try their white chocolate Frappé. Ooooh that coffee and white chocolate combination was muy bien! Who needs Starbucks and their long crazy lines if you have a GrindHouse around here? And don’t you think it’s so much cooler to say«I’m going to the GrindHouse» vs. saying that you’re going to Starbucks? I forgot to ask if they provided free WiFi but considering that the owner was in a meeting with a Comcast rep to get good WiFi going on and to entice them high-schoolers to come, I’m sure they do. I’ll confirm next time. The only downside to my visit? No tap water. But bottled water is only $ 1 so it’s not too bad. So let me sum this up, ladies and gentlemen. Great doughnuts and kolaches; Delicious coffee; Nice people; Reasonable prices; and most importantly, BACONFRITTER. It sounds pretty darn awesome, doesn’t it? Well because it IS awesome. You’re welcome.

OK we finally got something worth bragging about in the OAKFOREST/GARDEN OAKSHOOD GRINDHOUSEAT5403 Shepherd/Donovan(across street from Jack Box/ST. PIUS) This is a SUPERCLEANANDCOOL laid back place to hang out while enjoying a great priced Katz coffee, cappuccino or frappé. BUT the show-stopper here is the most extraordinaire donuts you will have ever put in your mouth. All the donuts are a work of art, and your taste buds will go into over-drive when you devour your first bite. A must try is the Maple Bacon Do-nut Bites…6 for $ 2.50…never have I had my eyes roll back in my head over a do-nut. If you are really wanting a over the top do-nut experience try the Banana Split Do-nut for $ 1.19…you will be back for more of that one for sure. The Jalapeño/Cheese Sausage Kolaches are killer. Also some pretty tasty looking breakfast paninis as well, I never get there in time to score on of those babies. They also have great selection of Panini’s for lunch that look out of this world. The owners, Tony & Johnathan are super nice guys who know how to put out a high quality product for a super price. The super cute counter girls, are sweet sisters that are eager to please the minute you walk thru the door,.the entire experience gives you a good, relaxed laid back vibe while you are there. Take time out and smell the coffee and eat the donuts Cool new place… please give them a try you will not be sorry… and will be back for sure… I took one bite of my do-nut while driving down the street and had to turn the car around and go back for more… that good!

You can get a good cup of coffee here! They brew Katz coffee, so you’re supporting local business directly and indirectly. Prices are comparable to Starbucks, but you get a free donut. I actually got 2(I realized after I got to my car), probably because I joked that my newborn baby needed one. I was kidding, but the bonus donut was appreciated nevertheless. I will be back to try some espresso drinks another time, but not at 3:30 because they get a big after school crowd from St. Pious which is next door. If you want a place to work quietly or study, they do have a few tables but the space is pretty open, and it was fairly loud when I was there.
