I used to love going to this place. I have been eating here for a couple of years now and have noticed that it seems to be going downhill. The last time I came here was really disappointing. It appears that management has changed, and the restaurant is now very unappealing. The veggies are now usually stale and the meats look like they’ve been sitting there for a while but it’s only half full. There’s usually no one there really, which is super weird to me. Their prices seem to have gone up as well, so I’m definitely not coming back… I don’t see the point.

The place was empty when we walked in. We thought it was an all you can eat. We were so wrong. Basically, we had to write down on a sheet on what we wanted and bring over to the counter. It is also one trip with no refills. Once we came to the counter, the bowl to put the meat was so small, you would be lucky to squeeze any meats in it. It was the strangest thing ever. After a few seconds, we walked out of the place as we felt that we would not get our money worth.

It’s like any other Mongolian Grill, there really wasn’t anything special about it. I only stopped by here to eat because it was close to my hotel room and my mom wanted something that wasn’t deep fried. The service was decent, but if I happen to be in the area again I wouldn’t come back.

We found 2 roaches IN the food. My 2 siblings and I were visiting one Saturday and it was empty inside. Strange, but it was clean and we’d been there before and had good experiences each time so we stayed. We went up to the bar and started getting our food. The first thing we noticed that was askew was the shrimp really stunk, as if it were bad. But the beef and chicken looked and smelled normal so we got that instead. Then my brother noticed a roach just chilling out on the butter. We weren’t completely comfortable at that point but ok, it happens! We notified them and they took the butter away immediately so we kept it moving down the line. Then my brother got himself some sauce. Another roach in the sauce… NOPE! We told an employee about the 2nd roach and left everything right there and walked out. It seems like management changed and everything went downhill.

I heard this place changed ownership a while ago. Any positive reviews before the change in ownership shouldn’t be considered. The ownership is obviously very concerned about their costs. The bins with meat were half empty. I think the logic it would be «better to run out of food than keep enough in stock and have to waste some». When you compare this place to one of the other Mongolian places you would find twice the selection and better quality. Also, the cheapest thing they did was to have separate bowls for meat and veggies. The veggie one was a normal size but the bowl for meat was 1⁄3 of the size of the other one. THEOWNERSHIPISSUPERCHEAP!!! You are better of eating at the nail shop next door. LOL

Used to be a great place but not since the ownership changed. They made it more expensive for lunch, they don’t have all the ingredients, last time I went they didn’t had any beef, 4 kinds of vegetables, and they made the portions way smaller than they used to be. They should just close down.

I have been a regular here before it sold. The service has gone down and there were empty containers in the vegetable selection. Sad to see this as I love Mongolian foods. Oh well.

The owner changed and service went down. No servers. The owner is running around trying to do everything so slow or no service. There were raw fish and food on the floor. I’m not going there again.

Am a regular here so I hope my repeat visits cut out the bias: Pros 1. Like the fact that I can make my meal as healthy as I desire(given the ingredients) 2. Food quality is decent/good Cons 1. The wait service has tremendously gone down since the new management took over. Words which come to my mind: huge variations in quality of service, borderline rudeness, inattentive, etc. 2. Variety of ingredients has also come down 1⁄5 for the service, 3⁄5 on the food

Food taste okay but the variety is too limited, appetizers limited, drink choices limited and no dessert. Disappointed because I came here for the highly recommend in Unilocal. You can consider adding fried shrimp, salad, fried fish cake in the appetizer menu, of course some other Mongolian grill has fusion with other and coming with something like sushi which not taking into consideration. The fried chicken wing is too salty, maybe try out the taste before seasoning? The vege and meat variety so far is around the same, but use a permanent marker to make order because what we experience is I order to fried with noodle end up coming with just fried vege+meat as they said we never mark on it.

The first thing we did was choose our starch(fried rice), and go down a line where we were given two bowls. The smaller one is for meat and the larger one is for vegetables. Then we added our seasonings, and chose the sauces for the meat which we had to taste to see which one we liked best. The owner was very nice, he even came to us and asked if we liked everything and if we wanted more sauce. The best thing about this place is that it’s zabiha halal, which means a cleaner and higher quality of meat. If this place was closer, we would for sure be regulars. I would highly recommend Great Khan.

I like being able to add what I want into my stir fry. I like the concept and enjoyed the food. I also like that vegetarians get 2 of the larger bowls. I love the straw mushrooms and the fact that they have tofu.

Great place to try out different combinations of meat, fish and veggies. I tried the teriyaki chicken and fried rice and it was delicious. My wife tried the beef and Italian noodle and that one she said was equally yummy. The portion is very large and the stuffs/owner are very accommodating and helpful. The thing I like about such place is that you decide what ingredients you are putting in your meal– as they cook it right in front of you with your chosen things; not some unknown substance that goes in back at the typical restaurants kitchen. I will be back to try out a different combination next time.

Great Khan was a pretty good lunch move decided by my coworker. I’m not a rookie to the stir fry buffet style joints but this is the first one I’ve been to in Htown. We went on the tail end of the lunch and the place was kinda empty… I was wondering if it was any good and luckily it was. I haven’t been too many times but the concoctions seem never-ending. Sit down, complete a card with your basic goodies then go through the buffet line and choose your veggies, meat and seasonings. Pass it off and ta daaaaa, your cooked concoction magically appears at your table! The service was pretty friendly and the bathrooms were clean. #winning I probably should go here more often but when I think of this area, I’m always going to the cuban spot in the same center… equally as good, try both!

I love having the freedom to choose & this restaurant allows you to do that from the moment you step in the door, from your seat down to the sauce for your stir fry. There are so many veggies to choose from, along with a good amount of meats. They ran out of carrots, peas and corn but that was the only downside. The owner and staff are very helpful to first time visitors. My food was served hot and tasted very good. The restaurant was clean and they even had a oil warmer going, so it kept the place smelling fresh. Definitely going back!

The 4 stars are for the concept and freedom This was one of the first places i visited after coming to houston. The concept You enter the place, choose a table and make yourself comfortable. The lady arrived with cold water and a laminated sheet and a marker. You will mark whether you need a large or small bowl and the kind of rice/noodle you need on the sheet and hand it back to her. She looks at it and promptly gets you a large bowl and a small bowl for the stir fry. You can always ask her to serve your rice with the stir fry or separately Now armde with your bowl and freedom of choice you head to one corner of the restaurant where an assortment of stuff that can go into your stir fry awaits you. Roughly said it will be something like this 1. veggies– diced, whole chopped, leafy, tuber what not 2. pickles 3. condiments 4. meats and fish 5. sauces You will have a large bowl to choose veggies and a small bowl for the meat. remember: Never use the large bowl for meat, you will be sent back :). i myslef have saved many from the embarrassment. but you always can stuff your bowl to brim Now here is the tricky part. the choice entirely weighs on you. the things you fill your bowl with is entirely your choice. I remember seeing all veggies except egg plants and sprouts. about 20 – 25 varieties Meats and seafood were beef, halal beef, red sardines, chicken, prawn, calamari — about 10 varieties Then comes about 20 varieties of sauces where you again are free to choose. once you choose all your stuff, give it to the chef, he will stir fry it and serve it to your table The tricky part. You chose the permutation and combination of sauces, flavor and masala good part is you have ample mix and matches, if you dont get your taste this time there is always hope for next time. But the bad part is if something went wrong this time, you never know what it was, you had so many choices at hand . but after a number of trial and errors, believe me you will strike gold and find your perfect stir fry.

Its been a while since I have come here for lunch. They allow you to choose your ingredients for your stir fry. Once you are seated there is a laminated card that they bring to your table ti let you decide on your base rice dish, fried rice, brown rice, noodles etc. Once you check that off you write your name and your table number on the bottom and take it with you to the food counters. You are given two bowls, one for meats and one for veggies and everything else. You walk down the buffet and add whatever items you like to your bowl and also to your meat bowl. There is also an option to add different spices to your meal also in a very small bowl. When you arrive at the end you hand your tray and bowls over for them to cook. After which they are delivered to your table. I find that you can experiment with the different spices to get a more flavorful taste. I have been here a few times and I have never so far had a bad experience.
