Great lunch spot! $ 8 for the blacken chicken jambalaya. The portions are huge and should be large enough to fill anyone. I’m not experienced in the world of Cajun, but the chicken was cooked perfectly and the jambalaya had tons of chicken and sausage in it too. It had a slight kick to it, one that should allow just about everyone to enjoy it. They also provide tobacco for the adventurous. Low key place, but the lunch crowd is nothing but business professionals.

Fast service, good quality of food, they even discount the amount if paid in cash. Never had a problem with customer service, everyone is usually nice and you can tell they actually take pride in their job. I’ve tried many things on their menu with no disappointments. I usually order the stuffed shrimp along with a baked potato and fish topping #3 or #4(now you have a seafood baked potato)

usually the food is delicious and fresh. i have told a few coworkers about the place and brought them. service is good too. … but, i had a bad experience the other day with mahi and shrimp topping. both were tough and flavorless. i had four bites and ate all of the onion rings(there were only four, and were good), but i brought the remainder huge piece of fish to the manager and spoke with Javier. he was dismissive and accusatory, told me i ate almost the whole meal and he doesn’t have bad food, he has«good food,» like pappadeaux. well the service certainly isn’t like pappadeaux, nor any other restaurant i’ve been to, not even the little holes in the wall. if the fish you paid $ 14 for is tough and inedible, you should be able to tell the manager about it and they should be gracious enough to say maybe give you a discount next time, but no. he just wanted to argue. i was just shocked. i don’t ever want to go back there.

Big Area to eat and get down with the crabs and crawfish… The folks that work there are pretty nice. The gumbo is usually good!

Greenspoint area doesn’t have many Cajun restaurants, so this one is satisfies that crave to some extent. It was Friday lunch and there was a large noisy lunch crowd. A line formed at the counter just after noon. The place has a large eating area(some chairs on the tables in the back) with cheap wall ornaments(gators, crabs, sailfish, etc.) to give an atmosphere of Louisiana seafood… ok, a hint of Cajun. The music was pop. I guess the era of Cajun restaurants playing Cajun music is coming to an end(hey, I like the Cajun music if it’s not too loud). Absence of Cajun music certainly is not affecting the lunch business here. This joint might survive the jinxed location of revolving tenants. I ordered the Royal Combo for lunch, and took my number card to a table and put it on the flag post, or whatever you call that thingee. Waited about five minutes. The combo consisted of: Blackened catfish — OK; cooked properly, but seemed slightly metallic tasting Seafood gumbo — Nah; too watery and mild with barely enough proteins(where is the traditional Tobasco sauce on the table?) Dirty rice — Nah; too plentiful, mildly spicy, small and not plentiful sausage bits One small slice of French roll, toasted — The gumbo needed it Cloth napkin — very nice, since this place seems more like a paper napkin joint Summary: ok, but rate it a step down in quality than Boudreaux’s. So, if I judge the other dishes by these 3 typical Cajun items, they are probably also just OK and not special. I will be back to try a shrimp dish someday, because I just gotta get my Cajun food fix once and awhile.
