While the interior is much nicer than the exterior, the food is cold and pretty unappetizing. The chicken is slimy, the bread is stale, and the sushi is lukewarm. Had I not gone for lunch, I would have been more upset, since it is ridiculously overpriced. Though I will say Café East 2 is definitely worse.

Good food all the way from salad, soup, appetizer, hot dishes and dessert. Actually they refurbished the restaurant a few months ago and the restaurant actually looks very good, elegant, clean and warm. Service is good, everybody are so friendly from manager, hostess, waitstaff and cashier. My wife and I enjoyed this restaurant a lot and I have no reservation recommending this Chinese Buffet Restaurant to all my friends. You need to go to try them and I have no doubt that you will be back for more !!!

When I want to Tub and Grub in the Lief this is where it’s at. Been around since I was in middle school at least, had my highschool graduation dinner there about 12 years ago(lol) it seems they did some recent renovations that update the place pretty well. Lomein is legit, beef n broccoli is good, gen chicken is good. The veg egg rolls are pretty dam good. If you like to eat some pretty legit Chinese buffet food hit it up. Have had a couple of events here with a large groups, staff is helpful and the manager is very accommodating. Dem cheeeese puffs doeeee

Great service, friendly staff. Not the typical grease buffet you see a lot of. Café East actually seems to care about the food they serve and everything my husband(who HATES Chinese food) and I tried was delicious. Thank you!

Quite possibly the shittiest buffet of all buffet’s. Some of the food is plain cold such as the meat. Some of the meat taste like it has been there for days. The only thing that is cold is the frozen yogurt. Vegetables are undercooked, and you can taste the drudginess in the broccoli and beef. Only if its fattening, and somewhat tasteful, the the food should be exceptional. However, not highly recommended to go and eat here, even if it is a last resort.

It’s a buffet so my expectations weren’t high food was ok but oily. The wait staff were polite. Would I come again? No don’t think so, but hey, you never know unless you go.

It is kind of pricy but it’s worth it to me. It’s a large buffet. I’m picky with Chinese foods and have tried a lot of buffets and I always come back to this one. They have really good sushi too. Water is always refilled. They aren’t incredibly friendly or anything but you don’t really need to talk to them anyways. Lots of variety.

This place was a lot better 6 years ago than what it has become now. I couldn’t even put into words how terrible the fried rice was, and the poor selections of desserts to choose from. At least they sell alcohol here. Even growing up in this area, I remember when café east first opened and how amazing the food was. Now, it slowly kills my appetite.

Their Lo Mein is awful. It’s kind of depressing. My wife, who is pregnant and four days past her due date with an appetite, couldn’t even finish one plate. Fried foods are over cooked, the soup is decent, ice cream is runny, and the building just feels… Unclean.

Food is below mediocre and no one speaks English clearly. When I walked in I was greeted in Spanish, come on America. Rice is dry… everything just doesn’t taste right. Vegetable noodles got it another star or else it would have been 1 star.

We were there on a Saturday night and the restaurant was full of noisy and messy kids. The families on either side of us could not contain their children, so it made for an unpleasant experience. The food is decent, but not fantastic. The steam table has a pretty wide variety of beef, chicken and seafood, plus some vegetarian dishes. There is a salad bar that includes sushi. Soup and egg rolls are good. We’ve been here a few times and at the end of each meal vow not to return. The problem is it’s currently the only Chinese buffet in the area.

My niece introduced me to this place a while ago and I really liked it. After a while I was trying to find a good Chinese buffet spot and somehow«slept» on Café East. My son mentioned Chinese yesterday and this place popped in my head — BAM! The food selection here is very good. I’m turned off by most buffets these days due to the possiblities of it all but this place has made me a believer! One thing that makes this buffet special is the shrimp fried rice! Who does that??? Café East does. The buffet consist of several good items such as crabs, suffed crab, general tso chicken, egg rolls, sushi, etc. In addition to all of that they have freshly baked chocolate chip/oatmeal-raisin cookies, icecream, and cotton candy. HEY, you can’t beat that. Did i mention the friendliness of the staff? Our waitress was so attentive until it was almost scary. She was standing so close until it almost seemed as if she was our personal assistant. She was even laughing at our jokes… lol! It didn’t bother me though. I would rather have someone that’s overly friendly than not. Now that I’ve regained my senses I will remember to return to this place on a regular.

Not the greatest Chinese Buffet I’ve been to, but it’s not to shabby. A little pricy at $ 12 on a weekend.

Worst Chinese buffet ever. They are even lucky they get one star(since the form forces you to put something). Deserves NONE.

Crawfish is bad and NOTFRESH. Yet, I’m a fan of the Chinese entrees here! Very good Chinese grubs for a buffet. What’s more? Good service; Comfortable seating; Reasonable prices! So, why not when you are very hungry and crave for Chinese foods?!

I go to this buffet almost every time I visit my mom in Houston because of its convenience and variety of food. It’s a typical buffet and the food is alright — mostly inconsistent like other Chinese buffets. What gets me more than anything is the type of people who eat here. Never before have I seen people load up a to-go box full of food, then decide they don’t want those items so they put them each back into the buffet trays for someone else to eat. People touch the food, the restaurant is usually pretty messy, and they had to call the cops on a customer(or someone?) last weekend. Yet we continue to eat here, so I guess it can’t be all bad. Just bring your Purell and you should be ok.

Café East is convenient to my home so wife & I eat here about once every six weeks or so. They have a large buffet with the usual chinese dishes and a few American items too. Several sushi and desert items also and soft ice cream dispenser. The food always tastes good and the price is right. It has a large seating area and never have to wait for a table. Ample parking in the strip center lot.

Went here last night for the first time. Nothing super special. Seem to have more variety of dishes than most Chinese buffet restaurants, but quality of food is typical Chinese buffet.

Whenever I visit the parents and they are too lazy to drive far for dinner or don’t want to wait this is where we go. It’s a default chinese buffet but they people here are nice and the food is consistently good and cheap. I usually get a couple full plates of the special salt crab. This alone makes me happy!
