YESPLEASE!!! Short review: Food: 5 out of 5 Service: 5 out of 5 Atmosphere: 4 to 5 out of 5 depends on who’s there really. Long review: Well my friends and I were planning on going to local pour down the street and decided to treat ourselves before we head there. We stopped by here and got seated immediatly. Our waiter was super awesome. He was attentive and friendly. We started off by couple of appetizers: House salad — tasted soo good for a salad, I’m not a huge salad fan. Seared diver scallops — These were good also, very good flavor and cooked perfectly. Roasted beets — to my surprise, I’m not a huge fan of beets but these weren’t bad at all, I actually liked them. Prime Ribeye — Cooked perfectly just the way I wanted it, the portion was so big I did not expect everything to be so big especially with the extra things it came with, like Marrow bone — OMG I loved it — spinach — so good, gratin — also amazing. Pomme Frite — I mean fries are amazing regardless, again the portion was so huge and they truffle fries and they were soooooooo sooo soo good. LASTLY — my favorite about this dinner was our champagne, we had Billecart-Salmon and it was on SALE, whaaaat? we ended up paying $ 45 and if you know Billecart-Salmon you know you can’t even buy it in store for that price. I was sold! and yes steak and champagne don’t really go together but oh well it was worth it! I would definitely come back, love everything about this place

Service, service service! Great date night. Atmosphere was energetic and fun. We had the Salmon Special and a Filet. Both done very well. The oysters and scallops was a great starter.

Walked In with my family for a late lunch. The food was very good(escargot and scallops) and the bill was average for Houston. The service was slow but our waiter was very polite. So all and all not bad. Now the chairs need to be replaced

I can’t remember the last time I’ve been here but I’ll have to say this visit was a bang on good experience. The food, service, and atmosphere all called on me to want to come visit again. I had ordered the deviled eggs, which were silky and tasty but a bit on the salty side for me. The charred octopus, with fingerling potato, celery, sweet onion, kale pistou, crispy caper was probably the best I’ve had. Love the house salad with truffle honey vinaigrette, warm chevre crostini. My s.o. had the market redfish which was cooked to perfection. Atmosphere was nice, since we were seated outside and as many Unilocal reviewers stated its all good for people watching and taking it all in. Brasserie, you did a great job and look forward to my next visit!

C’est comme un vol direct à Paris– oh wait sorry, I thought I was still in France! It’s unbelievable that being such a lover of all things French, it still took me so long to visit this place. It was absolutely fantastique, exactly what I want from a French establishment. When you walk in the décor is impeccable, with clean white table settings and white woven café chairs. It feels fancy but as unpretentious as a French resto could be. Service was first rate, they clearly have experienced servers. And the food, the food! I had the trout almandine, which was as good as any I’ve had in Paris. L’escargot was herbaceous, garlicky and delicious. And the bread and butter simply divine. The wine at our table was chosen for us, one red and one white, and they were both unique and mouth-watering, really highlighting the flavors in the food. It was a completely fabulous Sunday brunch and I’m in a hurry to return!

American-sized portions of French cuisine. Crisp interior with a fairly spacious patio. People-watching. That’s what you’ll get at B19. Well, there’s other things too… Such as their amazingly fresh bread! And sparkling cotton candy for special occasions. The mussels and escargot are excellent. So is the foie gras – especially if you get it on top of fries… YUM! I’m a big fan of their house salad. Honestly, the food here is pretty solid, but the service is hit or miss. I would have to say it’s not an ideal place for large groups either. It gets a bit crowded – literally. As in, there’s not much breathing room between the tables. I guess every square inch of River Oaks really is top dollar…

Love the ambiance of this place! We sat outside for brunch and it was fun people watching. The food was delicious. Service was friendly. After brunch, we took a stroll around the area for some fresh air. It was a fun day. I would definitely recommend this place!

I come to this place for the atmosphere more than the food. Great outdoor patio & an even better place to celebrate a birthday if you want to make a statement. They bring you cotton candy in a trophy!

Very underwhelmed by this place. Food is expensive and mediocre. But it still gets three stars because it has awesome outdoor seating(great for a nice day), friendly service and delicious french bread served warm at the start. I got the burger. It was just meh and the bun was dry. Fries were pretty good and plentiful.

I’ve been here for dinner a few times but never considered going to Brasserie19 for a casual brunch until my boyfriend suggested it. He’s actually been before and the prices are comparable to regular brunch places like Backstreet Café, etc. It’s also great people watching. From Stepford wives to wannabe rappers and everyone else like you and me in between, it’s definitely an interesting way to the start the day… especially if it’s New Year’s day and you’re hung-over AF. We were all secretly playing the game, «Who’s Judging Who More?». The thought of consuming more alcohol after a boozy NYE made me want to crawl in the corner and be sick but $ 40 for a bottle of Moet and a side glass of OJ to mix my own mimosa??? Too decent to pass up. I was revived after the first sip. The food menu is pretty kick-ass as well. The plan was to share the Beef Carpaccio and Tuna Tar Tar first. If we were still hungry after, we would share the Steak Frites & Eggs. Surprisingly, the portions were decent and actually pretty filling with just those two starters. We were more keen on boozing after the first bottle so we stayed on the booze and forgot about the food. Without taking anything away from the food though, both dishes were very tasty and VERY seasoned. On that same note, it’s tough to eat a lot of very seasoned food. Looking forward to coming back soon. The guy at the table next to me ordered the Filet Mignon with Foie Gras and I’ve been craving it since. Items I’ve had on the dinner menu: Scallops, Dry-Aged Ribeye, and Filet Mignon.(ALLAMAZING) Cheers!

Maybe, just maybe it’s me being crazy, or hard to please or ordering the wrong thing(filet & bone marrow with potatoes) but was I the only one that thought this place was just decent?! I mean I’m no French crusader and I can’t count past 10 in the language but I know good food when I taste it. I’d come back for the oysters and cotton candy.(& to fake window shop in my head the plethora of exotic cars that always keep the valet section packed) but that’s about it. Nice patio and the atmosphere has good vibes so it’s a great drinking/mingling spot but … I won’t come back on an empty stomach.

Food quality: 4.5 Service: 3.5 Atmosphere:4.5 Value: 4.0 Comments/side notes: The food and the atmosphere are excellent. In the heart of River Oaks it feels like«the place to be». I have not been disappointed in a single bite. They are also very generous with their wine pours. The only thing that is irritating is how busy it can get. You have to follow your blockers when you get up to go to the bathroom.

I love the interior décor. Everything is white, clean, and simple! The rooms are illuminated with natural light from the windows and there are plenty of tables on the patio. We were seated immediately by the hostess and our server greeted us. He was knowledgeable of the menu, but when I asked if a certain dish was good he replied, «yes, it’s good.» There was no explanation. I asked about other dishes and his reply was the same. It didn’t help and I wanted to know what made the dish good, but was left with unsatisfactory/unhelpful answers. TUNATARTARE– yellowfin, cucumber salad, red onion, preserved lemon aioli, espelette, and seeded bread crostini I absolutely love this dish. It was my favorite out of all the dishes that we ordered here. The yellowfin was very fresh and it tasted amazing with the refreshing cucumber salad. I put a little bit of everything onto the crostini, which was very crispy and light, and it tasted absolutely delightful. WILDSALMON– leek soubise, white beans, escarole, radicchio, and mirepoix The salmon was very light in flavor and felt very healthy because of all the fresh ingredients/vegetables used. This is a dish that has your serving of protein and a lot of vegetables. It was a great mixture, but it could’ve used a bit more seasoning because it can come off too light or bland. STEAKFRITES– USDA prime New York strip, frites, aioli, and red wine-shallot butter The steak was a bit chewy and could’ve been more tender, but had a nice charcoal flavor. The fries didn’t taste extraordinary, but had a crispiness to it and complemented the steak well. This dish was a bit simple. There were no bold flavors and I expected more especially after eating the tuna tartare. SEASONALBREADPUDDING– daily gelato I like the moist and soft bread. It’s not too sweet and had a nice consistency. The caramel wasn’t too sweet either and the apples were so amazing. The only downside to this dish is the ice cream. It was just too sweet even when eaten with the other components of the dish. While eating the dessert, I found a piece of plastic in my mouth and I brought it to the attention of our server. I didn’t do it for the purpose of a comp’d dish, but because I wanted them to be aware and be more careful the next time they prepared something. Our server went to «investigate» the matter and told me it was just a piece from the baking sheet. He acted as if I was overreacting and I felt belittled. Needless to say, I’m not the one that made the mistake. Be more careful and I wouldn’t have to call you out on your mistakes. Thank you very much. I would’ve given 4 stars, but the way the situation was handled, I bumped off one star. I’m not sure if I would come back. Not because of the baking sheet, but because the food was just decent. I really liked the tuna tartare and might come back for that, but I’m into more bold flavors and if I do come back I’ll be choosing other dishes than the ones eaten today.

This place is a solid restaurant if you’re in search of upscale French fare. The ambiance inside of Brasserie 19 is clean, modern and inviting. However, I was not a fan of the dated 80s music playing in the background. People watching is definitely a huge aspect of Brasserie 19’s ambiance as well. This is the place people go to see and be seen. The dynamics between the clientele that dine here are bar none. For our appetizers we went family style trying the escargot, which was lemony and fresh as opposed to traditional, steak tartare, which was perfect and spicy with a quail egg on top, diver scallops that were cooked to perfection with mushrooms and asparagus, and we also indulged in the octopus that was a bit too charred for my taste. The appetizers we had were very delicious, but I found myself comparing the food to Etoile and Café Rabelais, and once i did that, I became less than enthused. My boyfriend got the steak and frites topped with foie gras and it was spectacular! I regret not getting this because it was decadent and cooked perfectly. I got the duck breast and was a bit disappointed. The cooking was underdone and the sauce they topped it with was overpoweringly sweet, but the confit potatoes were outstanding. I highly recommend getting the French 75 for your cocktail of the evening. Would I come back? Yes. Was the food good? Yes. Are there better deals and French food in Houston? Yes.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Brasserie 19. We went for Houston Restaurant Weeks, and we were impressed by the menu offerings, but I’ll note that the portions were rather small.(For example, the foie gras was one crustini and a sliver of foie gras.) But, overall, the food was really great. I had the foie gras, which while small, was delicious with fig jam and walnuts. The second course with the pork chops was great with a cherry glaze and very creamy mashed potatoes. And the dark chocolate cake was molten and ultra gooey. All of the above was great. Before the meal, they bring out the wine list on an iPad, which was really easy to use. The bread also comes out super hot in individual paper bags. Service was OK, though I thought they seated us at a not great table – it was right by the hostess stand and door, so I felt like we were kind of in the waiting area during the busy times. But, overall, I thought the food and experience were excellent.

I came here in April with one of my girlfriends. It’s a great place right smack dab in the middle of River Oaks-With beautiful scenery that kind of reminded me of the restaurants that sat off the beach in SOBE. We sat outside and I initially ordered the salmon dish but was not impressed and sent it back to get the plate of the day(Saturday) that consisted of a pork chop with greens. The food is good and the complimentary bread is delicious! Be prepared to ask your server, however because they won’t send your table bread if you don’t request. Our server seemed to have been in the weeds from the moment we sat in his section. So we had to get help wherever we could find it. I chose not to be a female dog and tried to be understanding because I know how tough it is in the industry. Nonetheless it’s still a cool place.

Came here on Saturday for lunch. I love the décor! Both the outdoor patio area and inside of the restaurant itself are lovely and perfect for a girls lunch or date night. The foie gras fries($ 21) are an off menu item. They are a bit on the pricey side but they are absolutely delicious and a must try, especially if you are a fries lover like I am. It is a big enough dish to split. We split it between 4 girls as an appetizer. I also ordered the truffled egg salad sandwich($ 14) which comes with chips and a side salad. The sandwich was good but nowhere near what the truffled egg salad sandwich from local foods has to offer. Overall, come for the fries, stay for the ambience and river oaks people watching!

I came here for Saturday lunch to try the off-the-menu Lazy Lane Frites, and they were amazing! The shoe-string fries were crisp, and the gravy, parmesan, truffle oil, and, of course, foie gras, packed huge flavor. The decadence was reflected by the high price tag. The French onion soup was pretty good as well. It was quite rich and not too acidic. Service was very courteous, but a little slow. They also forgot to give us the bread we requested. This place screams River Oaks. It’s a beautiful, airy space with tons of natural light, and the clientele makes you forget that Houston is the most diverse city in the country. The shopping center that houses the restaurant has a large(free) parking lot, but there is valet up front for those who cannot be inconvenienced by walking a few more steps than absolutely necessary.

I have been to here now 4 times once for dinner, once for my birthday lunch, and now twice to the bar for apps and mingling with friends. Both dinner and lunch dishes were amazing! On my birthday the server brought out a large vase of pink cotton candy with a sparkler! So sweet! My current review is for the bar. Bar staff are super friendly and welcoming! We came in on a Friday evening around 7:30 and the place was packed. I ordered the scallop appetizer and red wine. The scallops were devine! If you are a people watcher or out to have a fun night this is defiantly a place to be! Needless to say I didn’t leave till midnight when they closed. I’ve returned recently for drinks and am planing a birthday kick off party here next week! :) There is valet parking and free parking available as well.
