Generally, I am a big fan of Adair. Tonight was a different story. We came for dinner and were greeted by a hostess and seated immediately. 10 minutes later, I had watched 3 other groups seated. Their waiter generally came quickly with water to take drink orders. For some reason, this didn’t happen for us. After 15 minutes of no service and no interaction(and a waiter who kept coming by to serve the table beside us but not us), we left. The hostess who seated us told us to have a great night. We did… Just not there. I’ll keep ordering out from Adair, but I think this is the last time I’ll stop in for dinner.

My team picked up to-go food tonight for dinner. I got the goat cheese turkey burger and parmesan fries. It was packed up so cute in a little box. The burger was a little on the dry side(no mayo or ketchup) and the juice from the tomato was really drippy and messy but overall the taste was good.(goat cheese in the middle of the burger!!!) I was so excited about the parmesan fries from the other pictures on here but maybe I was unlucky and all the parmesan shook to the bottom because my fries were a little lacking. They tasted more like Whataburger fries with a tiny sprinkle of parmesan. That being said, the green sauce(whatever it is) was delicious! I put some on the burger to help the meat from being dry and ate the fries with it. Yummy. Overall the food was nice and good portions. I would go back if I’m working in the area again.

this place reminds me of a restaurant in bushwick in brooklyn! i’m in love. also, i destroyed the gourmet turkey burger with goat cheese. and the fresh made agave mint lemonade sent me straight to heaven. #foodcoma #eatingmywaythroughhouston #datenight #giantpig boris the waiter gave me a free cheesecake to go. first, how does he know it’s my favorite dessert in the whole wide world and second what? no one has ever done that before! #sorryforyelling #sorrynotsorry

Eh. During lunch around 12−1ish it is always packed. I mean packed as in every table is taken, there’s a line out the door, and there’s not even any parking. If no parking isn’t bad enough, of the 3 times I’ve been here, I’ve been spot-jacked at least once by some privileged asshole in a Benz. But that’s not what this review is about. Okay, fine, the wait is not so bad. The line moves pretty quickly. My qualms lie with the menu and the service. The menu is hard to follow. Half of it is on the wall and half on the poster-style handouts. Then if you look through Unilocal photos, there seem to be more options you won’t find on the menus. It’s confusing. It’s also difficult to tell what your options are for sides. When I asked the cashier, he told me there’s either fries, fruit, or quinoa. I saw a lady with a small side salad? Not sure if that’s an option or what. On to the food. It’s pretty good. We have tried the chicken sandwich, turkey burger, chicken pesto pita, and the super food bowl. All are pretty good. The chicken in the pita is quite delicious, but there’s hardly any tomatoes. It’s just chicken and a ton of lettuce on top of a piece of pita bread. Fries are delicious. I don’t like the mint added to the fruit, but that’s my personal opinion. Here came another problem. First time I went, I asked for no mayo. I get my sandwich, it’s smothered in mayo. Okay, fine, everyone makes mistakes. Last time I went, I asked for the ranch on the side of my pita. I get my pita with both ranch drizzled all over and on the side. I didn’t ask for extra, I asked for it on the side. I never said extra. Oh well, I told them and they made it right. So far my experiences haven’t been great, so I’m giving it a neutral 3 stars.

I’ve been to Adair Kitchen for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner now and I haven’t been disappointed with anything there besides the wait(which they can’t help). This place gets crowded at all hours of the day but the wait is definitely worth it. If I’m on the go, I’ll call ahead and place an order and skip the line. My favorite items here are the superfoods bowl with chicken(offered for lunch and dinner) and the chorizo avocado toast! Other outstanding items include their chicken & waffles that is massive and their juices! If you’re trying to eat a little healthier this may be the spot for you. I’ve never been disappointed with the food here. And the staff are always friendly.

Great food, people as always. Switched up to table side service for dinner — why? I’m a happy camper ordering at the counter, seems like a faster way to go. Besides Grant, looks like a different crew manning and running the house after dark. Amazing what they can do with a build it yourself salad — yum and thanks!

I had breakfast here with my mother on the MLK holiday. There was no line & the food came out pretty quick. I had the French toast with a side of bacon & my mother had the Huevos Rancheros(which is a tostada topped with an over medium egg & salsa, black beans, & hash browns). Everything was very flavorful. My mom really enjoyed her food. I really enjoyed the look and ambiance of the place. They even have cute benches on one side of the place for seating. The only reason this placed lost a star is because my French toast was mushy before I had the chance to put a drop of syrup on it & bacon was a bit pricey for $ 3&3 little strips of bacon. But overall, we will be back. I want to try lunch or dinner next time.

I had dinner here with a girlfriend tonight and had a wonderful experience! Great good, cool atmosphere, friendly staff and reasonable priced! Parking was easy, a bug open lot from Randall’s. For a Wednesday night it was packed, every table was filled! There was a short 15 minute wait, but they had a lot of waiting seating available. Once we sat down, we had a hard time choosing something because so many things sounded good. I ended up getting pesto salmon with rice and asparagus and it was delicious! Very filling and reasonably priced at $ 14.95. My friend got the super bowl with salmon and it was huge! She enjoyed it, but ate only half because it was big! Would really love to go back!

Over the holidays I met up with my mom one day for lunch at Adair Kitchen, a massive counter service restaurant located in Houston’s Galleria/Uptown area. We stepped up to the packed and buzzing restaurant’s counter to order our food, and the beyond-friendly employee informed us that they had switched their computers over to a new system that day, so to bear with him. Bear we did! Because it was a Tuesday, we ordered some wine. However, they ended up bringing my mom a glass of cabernet instead of the chardonnay she ordered. They were super apologetic and immediately corrected the problem(and made sure they hadn’t overcharged us). Houstonians are the nicest, ammiright? My mom ordered the restaurant’s super foods bowl and asked for the chicken on the side so I could have a taste(Thanks Mom!). Brown rice, kale, avocado, almonds, tomato, red onions, and cucumber were tossed in a sweet ginger miso dressing. Y’all, this was SO good(coming from an avid kale-hater). The fresh, crunchy veggies were softened up by the brown rice and avocado. The sweet, light dressing took the edge off of the bitter kale, and everything came together wonderfully. I loved this dish so much, I will probably order it next time! For my main course of food, I ordered the black bean quinoa burger. However, what they brought out was a salad. Not to worry, once again they were incredibly nice and rushed to get my burger out to me. In the meantime, we munched on some sweet potato fries! In actuality they left the sweet potato fries off our order. We had to ask for them again, and they brought them out quickly. They weren’t very warm, but were still enjoyable. Lightly battered and fried, the dense sticks were sweet, salty, and tasty! The restaurant’s veggie burger wasn’t too shabby either. The patty — clearly made in-house — had a smoother, more doughy texture than most. It was as if the ingredients had been pureed, then molded together. This softer patty was a unique departure from the norm, and I enjoyed it with the accompanying firm vegetables and avocado. The lightly dressed side salad included a playful sprinkling of feta, which also provided a slightly different experience. Even though several mistakes were made with our food orders, the restaurant employees handled these errors calmly, speedily, and with total professionalism. I understand how rattling it can be to switch to a completely new computer system, and I definitely appreciated how well everything was handled. Furthermore, the food at Adair Kitchen was pretty darn good — especially that power bowl! Light, thoughtful, healthy, and delicious, the food at this restaurant is a must-try if you’re in Houston’s Galleria area!

Adair Kitchen was GREAT! I was very pleasantly surprised, partly because I had low to no expectations. I went here with a group of 6 for lunch and it was fairly crowded, but the line moved quickly. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food. In theory. My fiancé’s food never showed up, but when he went to check on it, they were very nice and brought it out quickly. I had the goat cheese stuffed turkey burger. At first I thought they had forgotten the goat cheese(the most important part), but nope, it’s inside the burger. Along with sweet potato fries, it was a delicious and filling meal. My family members enjoyed their meals as well. When my niece and nephew went up to the counter to buy a cookie, it was given to them for free! That was pretty cool. I would definitely eat at Adair Kitchen again. In fact, I hope to soon!

Disappointed. I was surprised how lacking the food was after reading all of these great reviews on Unilocal. We stopped in after seeing the good ratings on Unilocal.Luckily we came at just the right time and missed the line that reached out the door by the time we were seated. I called ahead to see when they stopped serving breakfast. 11. But they serve chicken and waffles all day– great! «We keep the waffle irons on all day» However, when the chicken and waffles got to my table I was not impressed. I could immediately tell the waffle was soggy. It was wrinkled and looked like it was old– tasted old too. Maybe the irons weren’t kept on all day? The chicken tenders that topped the waffle were delicious. My partner got a buffalo burger. Nothing special about it either. Sub-par. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? Whatever it was, it didn’t hit the spot despite the good reviews. The mint leaves for the water was the best part of the whole experience.

So we came here with my hubby for Saturday brunch and as it was stated in previous reviews line to make an order is out the door and you can’t sit down till you order. Pretty stressful you say… We came here with our dog and sat on a patio, ordered food over the phone to go and sat outside enjoying our coffee while waiting to pick up our«To-Go» order Think outside of the box and be smarter than general public lol ;) Good was ready in 10 min and no waiting in line! Yippie win win, food was good too. That’s why it’s simple 4 stars for a bit of inconvenience

This place has really good food… That’s probably the only thing that brings me back. Cons: parking is always a mess, the line is usually very long, and they don’t have enough tables/chairs. For a place that is this popular, they have really tried to cram as much furniture as possible, but it simply isn’t enough for the masses that go. All of this being said, I typically go around 12−1pm. I’m not sure how it is around other times of the day.

I live across the street from Adair Kitchen but had never gone, although I always noticed it was crowded when I went to the grocery store. I had the chance to go for brunch recently. I arrived at around 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. The space is very open, with high ceilings and lots of seating packed into the space. Despite all of the seating, the restaurant was packed when I went. The restaurant is order at the counter, with many signs indicating that you cannot save a spot before you order. I tried the following items: Orange Juice(5⁄5): Very quality orange juice. I love fresh-squeezed, and this one was very good and not too expensive. Balsamic Eggs(4⁄5): Poached eggs topped with a balsamic glaze. A baked parmesan tomato and grilled asparagus are served on the side. I really enjoyed the eggs — they were poached perfectly, and the balsamic flavor was really interesting and unique. The tomato on the side was okay — I didn’t think it was stuffed adequately in comparison to its size, and the asparagus was well cooked. Hash Browns(2.5÷5): A square shaped slab of potatoes that is seasoned well and has cheese mixed in. I love trying hash browns whenever I see them on the menu. While these weren’t bad, they definitely weren’t my favorite. I enjoyed brunch at Adair and was glad I tried it out!

Adair Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. I have loved every single thing I’ve tried here. The ambience is great, décor is perfect, and meals are wonderful. Their salads are fresh and very filling, and they never disappoint!!! I recommend above all the pesto chicken pita because it is so good, their pesto sauce is especially good. Also the lemon artichoke soup is very different and very delicious. Great for a lunch date, just keep in mind, it does get very busy!

I’ve visited Adair at least 3x per week because it’s so close to my office. The food is always great… but the service is kinda a hit a miss for me. I highly recommend the chicken & waffles… and I’m not a chicken & waffles type girl, BUT once you try it, they’ve got you hooked! The lunch crowd can be a little intense with the line out of the door. Here’s an easy fix. If there is a long line when you arrive, call in your order(while you’re in line) then proceed pass the line to the comfy lounge and wait a few minutes. Then, head to the bar and tell the bartender you have a call in order and would like to eat there. He will give you a number so you can grab a table. Work EVERY time :) I should also add, there can be a bit of a language barrier with the servers, but it’s not too much of an issue.

Sunday brunch review. Order at the counter and seat yourself. That system always freaks me out a little because if it’s busy, there are no tables! When we came at 12:30pm, we were surprised to see that it was pretty packed since it was raining outside. Luckily we were able to catch some people leaving and swooped in. I ordered the chicken and waffles($ 10.95) since it seemed to be a popular item among Unilocalers. It was decent but not as good as I expected. The chicken was well seasoned though which was nice. I stole a few of my friend’s sweet potato fries and those were really good. Perfectly crispy! All in all, a decent place. Solid 3.

Totally awesome place. Nothing much to complain about other than how nice it was. Whoo! Because we came on a Sunday morning for brunch, it was quite a long line. However, the line moved along really quickly :) Highly recommend their Chicken Waffle. Syrup topped waffle(aka heavenly sustenance) and well done fried chicken made my experience at Adair top notch. If you are a secret fried chicken lover(or a public fried chicken lover) like me, you better try this one out or you be trippin’~ Also loved the décor of the place. This place is for sure fancy and higher end, although the prices weren’t too expensive at all(for what it was). Great venue to have a catch up meal with some of your favorite people.

I really was not sure what to expect out of the AK because one, the Unilocal reviews are a bit all over the place, and two, I really was not sure in what context I was being summoned here which does tend to affect the mood in more ways than one. Regarding the former: Friend Kellie trashed the place with a one-ny. Friend Ako hit them with a two-fer. And Friend Gino rounded out the trio as the most optimistic, sticking them with a stiff three-bie. But other people rated them higher — at time of writing there are 266 reviews with an average rating of foursies. So they must have something going for them. Regarding the latter: this could have been anything from a friendship hangout, to a romantic date-date, to a business-guy meeting where I am supposed to get muh network on as a big man about town, to a potential new client initial consultation so long as it was the very general business planning sort of conversation that can be had in public rather than fielding specific fact-based questions about the various criminal laws as applied to an «alleged» criminal enterprise. But I can only handle so much uncertainty and I have far too active of an imagination when someone is nice to me, because it doesn’t happen very often. Let’s just say I put on a pair of pants for this rendezvous to cover all of the bases, even though the Unilocal page says the attire is ‘casual’ at this joint. A good lawyer isn’t supposed to be casual if that’s what this was; and a good romantic partner needs to demonstrate he owns somethin’ other than /comfy/basketball shorts and a lager-stained wifebeater shirt that looks like it was featured in an episode of COPS on the teevee set as recently as this morning. So we’re set for most eventualities. AK is in the same Bad Randalls strip mall on the edge of San Felipe @ Sage as Ciao Bello which I get summoned to relatively frequently by one client, as if I am Crowley f/k/a Fergus Roderick MacLeod and the CB is the crossroads. Hello boys. Even though it is a large lot, there are a lot of popular places in the strip mall(and it’s off San Felipe, land of all the traffic in the West) so securing parking for the Dragon can be a bit bothersome at times. Of course when there is little parking, that means a lot of people. At AK you order at the counter so expect a line, the same as you would at the Local Foods where when the line is at the door or out the door it is not worth going to at that point because of the wait time, not just because they turfed every single good beer they used to carry on draft like all of the Karbach. Ermahgerd, no kerberks? Not going back if I am paying. The scene is very much a similar replica of the Local Foods. It’s a hipstery kind of semi-upscale joint, but with cutesy enough décor it’s not imposing and/or cost prohibitive. You order at the counter. You go find a table. You plant your flag with the order number on a table. You get your water from the fountain area on the back wall if you so desire. You wait for your stuff to be brought to you. My dining companion mirrored my order of a latte, since it was too late in the morn for bfast and not quite the gentlesir’s three martini lunching hour. $ 8.55 and a mixtape gets you two lattes here. They have a small patio outside for when it simmers down a bit. I think the patio would be more desirable for the noise level, even with the beggars in the parking lot, and the cars whooshing by. It was quite loud inside and there were still a few empty tables. I can’t imagine how loud and unkind for casual convo this joint is on full blast. This is the first strike against them, it is just quite loud. It’s hardly romantic to be shouting at someone, unless that’s what floats your boat in a scary 50 shades of grey way. In which case, spend more time at church. The second main strike against them is going to come at the latte. I had read in many of the quicktips and reviews that things don’t tend to come out of the kitchen«piping hot» or «warm» and sister, my latte was no different. I prefer a not-scaldy temp bev when I need to carry the thing from the bar area to the seat through a bunch of Mac power cords and hipster beard hair flying every which way, like I need to at the Blacksmith which is probs my fave for coffee in this town. However, here they bring it out to your table, so I want that thing McDonalds coffee tort suit hot. I want this thing to be as on fire as my mixtape over on the soundcloud, fam. The latte was nearly room temp, and otherwise unremarkable as far as a $ 4 cuppa something will take you in this life. However there’s a certain amount of upcharge to live with for a place like this in this neighborhood. As Sonia addressed, there are not a ton of options in this area like we have back in my neighborhood with the Blacksmith and then the other things that are not the Blacksmith. Three stars for the AK because they have room for improvement in the latte game; and it is quite loud inside. Do better.

Not impressed at all. Went for lunch and thankfully came right before the huge lunch crowd came in, otherwise it definitely would not have been worth waiting in line for. Had the chicken and waffles which always sounds amazing but this dish fell flatter than a pancake. The chicken was incredibly BLAND. It didn’t even taste like fried chicken it tasted like a tofu/fake meat substitute for vegetarians. The waffle was also boring as it only had powdered sugar to dress it, which is not tasty. My friend had the avocado toast, which he liked. But then… It’s just avocado and toast. Even they couldn’t mess that up. I would not go here again by choice but the location is convenient so I’d tag along if others were already planning on going.
