Did RDG Bar Annie for my birthday lunch. Food and service were great. The bread is very good and we also ordered the Maki Rolls for an appetizer, they were very fresh and we enjoyed them. My husband ordered the fried Chicken sandwich which he liked and I got the gulf shrimp burger which was very good but the sweet potato fries and dipping sauce was by far the best thing I had. For dessert my husband had the pecan pie which he said was great and I had the macarons which they decorated for my birthday, they were all very good as well. This is not a fast lunch stop by any means so prepare for s little bit longer of a lunch break but we had a great experience.

Over rated and over price. Try for first time. Nothing special, wanna be restaurant that charges high prices for okay food. Enchiladas needed more spice to it. RDG Rita was sooooo tart I couldn’t even drink it. Waiter went to replace it. It still suck. If you want to waste your $. That’s the place. Looks great but the product is nothing good.

Yum! I drove to Houston for a quick business meeting. The person I was meeting with suggested RDG Bar Annie. One look at Unilocal and I was excited. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with a large patio, dining area, and bar. The staff was on top of our every desire. I had a great glass of red wine and my colleague ordered the shrimp rolls and maki. So delicious! A great spot for a happy hour or business meeting. Check it out if you’re in the uptown area!

I’ve eaten here four times. The food is good, service and décor are great. Expensive place to eat.

Went tonight and had the worst waiter and experience we could have, at a place that is suppose to be where you go to be wined and dined. Do not ever have the waiter David with glasses. Awful. And we were here to celebrate a friends birthday and he totally ruined the experience. Food selection was not the best. Sorry Bar Annie but this place has gone down hill.

Really Houston? Food was a 2. Service 3. Average age seemed to be 60. Very trendy, but no substance. Nice outdoor area, but does not make up for the average food. Plenty of alternatives in the area with much better food and service.

I went here for a work lunch and had a great experience. The food was fantastic, both appetizers and main dishes. My favorite appetizers were the nachos and bacon wrapped quail. Both were fantastic and I would highly recommend for larger groups as they are easy to share. I ordered the shrimp burger and was very pleased. I was skeptical at first of a ground shrimp patty but it turned out to be fantastic. My only complaint was that there was so much flour covering the top of the bun that it got everywhere while I was eating. Both the sweet potato and regular fries are fantastic! Overall the lunch was great but service could be better. The servers were slow and did not pay attention to detail. I highly recommend to anyone in the area wanting a nice bite to eat and good drinks!

Well, Houston, you certainly have some classy establishments for lunch! I came here for a business lunch and was really blown away by the service at RDG. This place is fancy-schmancy, but not insanely expensive. For starters(and I’m not referring to appetizers) they have valet service. However, if you work for a non-profit, like myself, and want to save a little money, you can park your own car for free in the large lot located right behind the restaurant. RDG is located on the second floor of the building and once you get to the top of the steps you are immediately greeted by their hostess, and you also are treated to a view of 1,000 bottles of wine on the wall. Well, maybe not 1,000, but that’s the song, right? Oh wait… the song is 99 bottles of beer on the wall… Once seated you are immediately greeted by a waiter and served water and a basket of bread. Because I was on a business lunch and my fellow diner didn’t try the bread I felt like I needed to restrain. Bummer, it looked good. For lunch I had a gulf shrimp sandwich and it was served on a very delicious fresh bun with a side of thin cut sweet potato fries with a sauce that was so delicious I wanted to slather it on my sandwich. But it was a business meeting so once again I refrained. This is an establishment that will continue to refill your drink as you finish a sip and the waiters know when to stop at your table and check on you and when to leave you alone. I would love to come here for dinner and have some wine(from the wall) and eat the bread with reckless abandon. Nicely done Houston!

Quick tips: Came for a business lunch. Food was okay, but i wouldn’t come back with the high prices. Very nice ambiance. Food: Got the salmon with black olive sauce, cippolini onions, and arugula. I typically am fine eating the skin, but the skin was way too tough. The black olive sauce was nice though. The tortilla soup looked delicious, I wish I got it. It also had a nice presentation. Ambiance: Nice trendy ambiance. I would potentially come here for a drink as opposed to a meal. Service: Very nice service. Perfect amount of attention for our business lunch.

Had dinner here with a group of 15. I had the scallops and they were amazing! The service was outstanding and surprisingly efficient serving such a large group. The food arrived hot and the presentations were impressive. They have an extensive wine list with special selections from Europe. Love the ambiance and décor! Looks like a great place for a date or to celebrate a special occasion. I plan to return soon!

after years of driving by and wanting to check it out, i finally made it to RDG Bar Annie and it was for my birthday dinner. Both the food and level of service were A+. It was two of us for dinner and we ordered a few items for us to share. Grilled skirt steak, spicy crab dip, and maki roll… all were simply delicious! will be returning again sooner than later.

This place was very much what I was expecting. As an interior designer I always appreciate interior spaces. The place is very nicely decorated, they have different types of seating arrangements, light fixtures are nice and the ambiance in general is perfect. We had a group or people in our table. As a starter we ordered the maki roll. This was a delicious appetizer! My meal consisted of crab tostada and the grilled salmon. These two were both on point. The crab tostada had a great presentation. The salmon was also good, but not the best. The top skin was a bit charred in some areas, more than what I prefer. The deserts were amazing! We ordered the berries and the macaroons and these were both delicious!

Well. It is that time again. RDG+Bar Annie… Not bad but I still have that nagging wonder of «Did I like it?» We shall start with parking. People need to be shot over the travesty that is the valet parking design. It is apparently a 1– way drive that is treated like a 2-way drive about the width of a midget horse… inevitably some pompous little princess will pull in the wrong… damn…way in her cute-ute, cutting in front of everyone queued the proper way, and attempt to hit your vehicle. Which we saw happen 2 times in 10 minutes. Bar Annie is deafening. The hostess had to ask multiple times for our name. The noise easily spills over to the restaurant making the ambiance more annoying than elegant. After about 8:30PM, it started to quiet down and we were not yelling across a 4 foot table to speak to our fellow diners. The amusements were interesting and I kept tasting mine trying to decide…“Did I like this”? Now…Serving a chilled soup should be something that is refreshing… but is like serving steak that has been cooked, refrigerated, and re-served. Soup should be warm, as should steak. Again… I found myself tasting it trying to decide«Did I like this»? I left 2⁄3 in the bowl so I would imagine… no…not really. The roasted pork loin was completely overcooked and dry. The pulled pork enchilada was decent… but I have had better enchiladas at either Lupe Tortilla or El Tiempo. Trying to make Tex-Mex«fancy for fancy sake» Is like putting wheels on your car that are worth more than the car itself… it just doesn’t work and you usually end up amusing everyone else around you for your poor life choices. I took the leftover loin home much to the amusement of my puppy. The chocolate brioche bread was lacking in chocolate flavor, the summer fruit calfoutis tasted more like lemon with a side of lemon zest, and the caramel corn pudding was just ok. In conclusion I may or may not be back… as soon as I decide if I liked it or not…

The food was delicious. I had the lamb and the romaine spears salad. I found the wine to be a bit over priced. I don’t know if we caught them on an off night or what, but the service was extremely lacking. We sat on the patio to have a cocktail before dinner and it took us 10+ minutes to get served. When we were seated our waiter was fairly attentive, but the restaurant was nearly empty(Friday night at 9pm). It appeared the hostess had some friends dining there because she went and sat at a table. The wait staff gave them more attention than we got. That table was also smoking a vaporizer which I felt to be pretty low-brow for such a nice restaurant. The next time I want to celebrate a special occasion I will go elsewhere.

I loved the ambience to moment I walked in the door. My only complaint is that valet parking seems to be only option when you arrive. It’s only $ 5, but there is a parking lot behind the restaurant FORFREE. On to the food… I had oysters, a shrimp burger, cheesecake and chardonnay for lunch. Everything was great! The server was very nice and attentive! I will definitely be back!

10 of us went to dinner here. The large round tables make it perfect for groups so everyone can see/talk to everyone else. Makes it perfect for business or friends. They do have private rooms of you need a private function. The food is good but slightly overpriced. I realize that this is an upscale restaurant and is on the higher end but I thought the portions were smallish considering what you are paying. The taste of the food is better than average but not totally worth 4 stars. The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. They did a good job. All in all, I would give it 3 ½ stars but not 4. Personally, I liked this restaurant better when it was known as Café Annie. Tip: The restrooms are located downstairs and the tables/bar are all upstairs.

RDG tonight was a complete dissapointment. I was excited to have my birthday dinner here because I have been to RDG several years ago and the food was excellent but that has greatly changed! I ordered the snapper and had to send it back due to how fishy it tasted. Then I ordered the scallops and I really tried to like them but had to stop eating them because they were incredibly salty!!! I spoke to the manager and instead of him accommodating the situation he proceeded to tell me that everyone has different taste buds and that he liked the food. What a complete asshole!!! I will never ever return to RDG again and will make sure to tell my friends about the lack of quality in their food and incompetent management. I wish I could give this place 0 stars.

One of my girlfriends was in need of meeting up for HH so we met up here for some drinks, food, and a lot of catching up. I was definitely impressed by the ambience and the place was popping with a good crowd. We chose to sit outside and luckily the weather was permitting. I love the big sofa seats! I kicked off my heels and curled up my legs and took in my surroundings. We started off with the RDG Margarita which turned into five between the two of us! It has just the right amount of alcohol and sweet/sour taste to it. Food-wise I thoroughly enjoyed the Salmon Sashimi Maki so much that we ordered two and the Gulf Shrimp Meatballs were just okay for me. A bit dry for my taste. Great HH and conveniently located by my office — I’ll be back for sure!

Came here for a friend’s birthday during HRW. We were all extremely impressed from the moment we walked in the door. The décor is stunning. You walk in and proceed to go up the stairs where the actual restaurant is located. Everyone is dressed impeccably and it feels like such a special experience. There is also a gorgeous patio to enjoy after dinner drinks or while you are waiting for your table. We were promptly seated for our reservation and had a multitude of servers tending to our every need. We all decided to do the restaurant weeks menu, which was well worth it. I ended up getting the romaine spears with smoked cheddar dressing, corn chowder, enchiladas, and ice cream sandwich. Everything was delicious and served beautifully. My friends raved about the summer buttermilk fried chicken breast and the watermelon salads as well. We did not wait long between any course. As far as the food goes, the one main thing I would have changed is I would have served the corn chowder warm rather then chilled as they served it, however other then that everything was wonderful. Did feel slightly rushed by the servers at the end, as I think they had reservations throughout the evening. Also, would not do separate checks. Overall, a great experience. Would definitely come here again. Food is delicious, ambience can’t be beat, and good service. Can be a bit pricey, but well worth it for a special occasion. Also as an FYI valet is $ 5.

I love the ambiance. A lot bigger than I expected(that’s what she said). $ 5 valet. Restrooms downstairs. Restaurant/bar upstairs. Great patio area for happy hour(will definitely come back when it’s cooler outside for HH). We got here 15 minutes before our reservations so we had a drink at the bar first. I ordered a Moscow Mule and it was super sour. We were seated promptly and the restaurant was pretty filled for a Tuesday night, granted it was HRW. Service was pretty slow. Seemed like we were waiting on the server most of the time. I was with a group of 4 and everyone made at least one comment about how slow the service was. 1st course: Romaine Spears w/Smoked Cheddar Dressing(delicious!) 2nd course: Chilled Sweet Potato Soup(Tasted really good but would’ve been better if it was warm). 3rd course: Summer Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast(Sooo good and so much flavor in the flour!) 4th course: Aborio Rice Pudding paired with a Cappuccino(Wasn’t a fan of this one. The rice was al dente style). You would think the server would ask how we would like the check splitted with a group of 4 but he brought 1 check out and said he couldn’t split it for us. He said we needed to give him the exact amount to charge to each card. We collectively decided that it was too much effort after a long day at work and a few drinks so we just had him split it 3 ways. Not a fan of the restroom being downstairs either. Imagine being there for HH. Once you break the seal, you’re going every 30 mins(minimum). Uggghhh… Overall a great experience. Really enjoyed the food and ambiance. I’m torn between 4&5 stars but I like it enough to know I’m definitely coming back so there’s your 5th star! :)
