Had the smokey bagel and it was yummy. My fiancé had the locks & bagel… it was ok. A must try, this place is mom and pop beginning to end. Small and friendly service with a smile! Check em out you’ll be glad you did.

I’ve been coming here for over five years. I used to have the toffee scones but now order their granola yogurt and fruit bowl. The granola is homemade and delicious. It’s always fresh. I think there is coconut flakes in it. There is a variety of scones and the outer part of scone is nice and crunchy. I like to eat it heated with butter. Coffee is good. We never have a problem finding a seat. Parking is easy. They offer a variety of different items to eat however, I just come in for my regular.

I’m a regular here. It’s your typical neighborhood hole-in-the-wall coffee shop. I LOVE the food(especially the fruit and granola bowl) and coffee here. I’d give those 5 stars. The service, I’d give 3 stars, thus my 4 star rating. After morning Bootcamp, several of us head here on a regular basis. We try other places, but find ourselves returning here time and time again. All the food here is good… the scones, sandwiches, but the fruit and granola bowl is what keeps me coming back. It’s LOADED with fresh fruit, and the homemade granola makes this my all time favorite breakfast meal. Mix it up with yogurt, and you got yourself a super yummy, healthy and fresh dish! Because we are all hot and sweaty after working out, we go for the iced coffee. That’s another hit. Those are the«ups». The«downs»: 1) As far as I know, there is no free wifi. After traveling extensively, I’ve come to rely and appreciate the free wifi at Starbucks usually offered around the world. Although I often prefer your local neighborhood coffee shops, I choose to go in to Starbucks for consistency and free wifi when needed. 2) The service here has been quite lacking lately. During one recent visit, it was really busy and all the tables were taken. We saw one table that appeared to be empty, except for a newspaper and a water bottle. That other patrons said it was empty for quite some time. We figured someone had just left their stuff and was gone. As we sat down, no sooner did the owner come over and angrily said we couldn’t sit there because she was. So we stood up and«hovered» for an empty table, as she sat there, at a table for 3, and read her paper. Wow. If it were my place, I’d gladly move my stuff to accommodate 3 patrons… nope. Oh well. Still, we continue to come here for the fresh baked goods, yummy fruit bowls, and great coffee. It’s pretty unique, I must say.

As much as I love it here and as many years as I’ve been coming here(since i was about 16… so about 10 years haha) this place just gets less and less friendly and gives you more and more of the feeling of not wanting to return. I love the feel of the small coffee shop whose food is consistently great and simple with their pastries been exceptional but thats where I feel all the previous magic goes away. As I come in to eat lunch at about 1130 on a Wednesday, i wait in a short line for about 5 – 10 minutes. No «sorry we’ll be right with you,» but total blatant cold shoulder from all 3 of them. So, when she is finally ready to take orders, there was no, «sorry for the wait!» It was just, «I’ll help whoevers ready» with an irritated voice and throwing her arms up as if we were wasting her time. Wow. So yay finally my turn to order and I sit and wait. When this girl with long blonde hair drops off the food to my table, there was no exchange of words. Just me saying thank you, to have her go back behind the counter and continue her convo with the other brown haired girl(who previously had thrown her hands in the air). Geez. Im seeing a trend with the attitude? The sandwiches usually come with pretzels if you order them for dine in and it’s even better if you eat it with the pesto cream cheese! I’ve paid $ 0.50 or even $ 0.75 for it before(which it says add pesto cream cheese for $ 0.50 on the menu) so i go up to order a small ramekin of it, only for her to tell me its $ 1.50! Um… huh? Me not wanting to start up any bad emotions, i just say nah no need and walk back to my table. Wooow. Lunch with my grama, sister, and her bf was officially ruined. Sigh…even though this has been my post up café and my coffees never tastes like coffee and I’m writing this very disappointing review, i will still tell people this is my favorite café and I’ll still come in for my morning coffee flavored milk and smokey bagels on cinnamon raisin bagel.

I LOVE this coffee shop. The food is amazing and the coffee is great. I come here probably 3 times a week and it is always a great experience. I love the hole-in-the-wall atmosphere and the customer service is excellent. My only recommendation is to have free wifi for guests. Otherwise I would give 5⁄5 stars in a heart beat.

I really didn’t expect to find a quaint little coffee shop while in the middle of Makiki, but I’m glad I did! I make it a point to try chai tea lattes from every coffee/tea establishment I visit, just to see if it meets my expectations, so I got a dirty iced chai tea latte. I was blown away. Sweet yet spicy enough, didn’t taste watered down at all, and the espresso blended in so well with the chai. Ugh. So good. I also got the piña colada scone which was phenomenal as well. I was unsure of how pineapple and coconut would fuse into a dry, crumbly bread, but it fused damn well. The outside of the scone was crisp, yet the inside was just moist enough so it can melt on your tongue. Because of all the hype, I also ordered their smokey bagel… but I don’t get it. It’s just ham and cheese on a bagel. It was decent, but I don’t get why it’s the most popular thing on their menu. It seems like they have so many greater things to offer. The only reason why I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the ambience is super odd. It’s super dark inside, and not because the lights are dimly lit for a romantic feel, but because the lights were just… off. Not the ambience I would choose for a coffee shop, but that didn’t affect the taste of their products or their customer service. Will be returning :)

Depending on who is working, Sure Shot can be awesome. Quick, handles a crowd well, lattes made to perfection, great customer service. At one point it was my favorite spot and for good reasons! The blueberry scones when fresh from the oven are amazing! It’s clean, has AC, and(bonus!) it’s right across from my house. But over the past year I’ve started to get annoyed by consistent errors. These are just minor things and may seem silly at first, but they keep happening and I’ve grown tired it: — when you order a bagel to-go, you get one tiny little packet of cream cheese, so I actually have cream cheese at home that I use on the bagels from Sure Shot :) — when you order a buttered bagel to go, they don’t send you w a packet of butter, they actually butter the hot bagel, so it’s dripping through the paper bag all over you as you take it to-go — medium ice lattes with 16oz of milk and like 4 pieces of ice(every single time) — being told, sorry but your ice latte isn’t going to have more than a few pieces of ice, because of all the milk taking up space… and I had to say, can’t you just put the ice in first? And the top it off with milk? This particular employee was very responsive to my request and the drink turned out great. Maybe I’m being unreasonable… Are they being trained to skimp on ice?! Is ice expensive? Has Starbucks forever ruined my expectation of iced latte?! — on other occasions, asking politely for ice(as soon as I receive the latte) because the original three pieces have already melted in the endless vat of milk — ordering a small ice latte from then on, lesson learned right?, and being handed a medium anyway, and when I asked her to please make a small(as I originally ordered — thinking to myself, because I’ve had so many disappointing mediums with six gallons of lukewarm milk can barely taste the espresso) she said there’s nothing wrong with the medium and she just stood there, so I accepted the medium and walked out, for the very last time. Call me crazy — but when I order iced coffee to-go, walking outside in 85 degrees blazing sun with lukewarm coffee and bagel butter dripping over my feet is far from appealing. But like I said, these are just«the little things,» and there have been great experiences here too! When they actually make you a small ice latte, it’s pretty darn good! Unfortunately the little things have persuaded me to take my business elsewhere. So please just be aware is all — and if you’re stopping by, maybe avoid the ice and get it hot. If this has happened to me consistently over the last year, it’s probably happened to others, and it’s probably my fault for not ordering something else. Maybe I’m just picky so don’t let this stop you from checking out Sure Shot you may love it, so many people do the place is always packed! If you live around here and you’ve experienced the same sort of things and you’re looking for a change in routine, I highly recommend Raintree — it’s a coffee shop down the road and their lattes are consistently high quality for the same price in a bright sunny shop with easy parking.

Finding ourselves in Makiki one cold and rainy April morning we were looking for a place to get a great cup of coffee and a snack. We’re not in the neighborhood often and happy we were able to find Sure Shot Café(via Unilocal of course!). Parked our car in the lot and dashed through the drizzle to a warm neighborhood café. Food: Being our first time here I ordered a large americano and my wife ordered a large decaf drink with almond milk. Lots of choices and we noticed the prices were very reasonable! One thing to note, large is LARGE! Had to use two hands to hold the mug! I was tempted to order one of their bagel sandwiches but we were going to have lunch in a couple hours so I went with one of their scones instead. Asked which was their most popular, of course the Earl Grey Marmalade which only had two piece left was the recommended choice. Crispy around the edges, tender interior, and the glaze was sticky goodness. I would love to come back and try more of their baked goods. Of course my wife was like«I’ll just have coffee» when I asked if she wanted something to eat. then proceeded to enjoy half my scone! Service: Order at the counter and they deliver your food table side. Good service and coffee came out quick. I noticed other patrons who ordered more substantial dishes(i.e. waffles which looked amazing) also received their food with minimal wait. Atmosphere: Cool, neighborhood diner feel. Nothing fancy, several tables inside, a few outside. comfortable place to relax with friends over a cup o joe. Value: Great value, coffee prices were good compared to other gourmet places around town. Again. large means LARGE! Overall: Happy that we found this space, not sure when we’ll be back again but if we ever find ourselves in the neighborhood and need some coffee we won’t have to go looking for the place that rhymes with BarStucks.

I agree with the others who’ve said this place has the best scones. I tried the earl grey marmalade and toffee scones. Both were delicious and moist. Got the smokey bagel. It satisfied my morning hunger but I probably wouldn’t come here for bagels again. The coffee was OK, nothing special. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable.

Although Sure Shot had obviously outgrown its space, as evidenced by the lack of available seating on this Saturday morning, I hope they never expand too much so it loses its neighborhood appeal. The most coveted tables are the ones against the walls, for their power outlets. They also don’t have a customer bathroom, or free Wi-Fi. All likely tactics to discourage students or others to park themselves there all-day. But the inconveniences are present and palpable. Over the years they have rearranged their kitchen, equipment, display cases, and storage areas to reconfigure their seating areas. So inside looks disorganized. They still haven’t changed their menu, with the handwritten stick-on prices. Thankfully, the prices have remained unchanged, too. I’m hopeful that one day, the«Soup» chalk board will display something other than the photo of the Seinfeld«No Soup for You» grump. I don’t know why they even bother to offer Soup as a menu option. Yet, Sure Shot seems to be one of those places you keep coming back to, where the coffee, oatmeal, granola, scones, salads, sandwiches, bagels, waffles(weekends only) have a consistently superb quality, where the service is friendly, where dogs are welcomed(especially outside), and where parking is easy at the Makiki Shopping Village. Where you can talk story with a friend, strike a deal with a prospective client, or hang out in solitude.

Found on Unilocal.Definitely check it out. Seemed like locals were non stop in and out of there the whole time we sat and ate. Order food and sit they will bring to your table. Seems they are known for their scones. They look delicious and had a variety of different types. No bacon egg cheese type stuff. But they do have bagels and cream cheese. It wasn’t the best bagel but it wasn’t bad either. We also got the loaded fruit waffle which was actually delicious. It had a ton of fruit and was yummy. Coffee was good and service was fast. There was plenty of parking near by.

Well, first time went there and was very, very disappointing. I do not usually write reviews, but I just want to let people know that menus aren’t really good. They are in fact little pricey compared to the size and ingredients they use. I guess this place is for coffee and the breads NOT menus.

When my favorite hot Asian barista left this coffee shop I was extremely saddened! He efficient and friendly, and my order was ALWAYS right. After he left I came back a few times but the lines were SO long and everything took forever to come out. And they never had the almond flavoring! Wth! So I stopped coming for awhile. Fast forward to today — these chicks have got it down! I was able to get my favorite almond breve latte and a slice of carrot cake this morning with no trouble. There was a longish line but it moved quickly and my drink came out in record time. And my carrot cake was to die for! Another plus — I realized the Reuben sandwich for which my hubby has been fruitlessly searching may be right here! Scones here are possibly the best in town, and the occasional croissant never hurt anyone except my own hips and arteries! Sandwiches are also delish, and waffles are to be had weekends. No wifi, but if you’re a TWT customer of course you can tap into that. Bathroom is outside across the parking lot, but it’s available. My favorite — and yeah, it’s a little silly — if you eat here you can eat off real plates using real silverware and drink out of real mugs. Win! To top it off? Parking is free! Buhbam!

Sure Shot Café has sure won me over! Upon starting a new job this year, my work route changed and no Starbucks was in sight. No small local coffee shops were near by, not even a 7 – 11 or a gas station. WHY?! I went the first two days without coffee and realized I might kill a kid or myself if I didn’t find some fast. The next morning I whipped out Unilocal and found myself using the ‘nearby’ feature. A hidden gem just 10 minutes off my route with decent reviews? I’m in! This is no fancy joint, no modern and chic décor or building — no matching red cups with your name. No cold cups for iced drinks! Small inside there’s chalkboards with coffee beans for sale and bulletin boards with local ads. There’s maybe 6 or so 4 person tables assorted, a long countertop to an open kitchen/storage area and the front cashier area. Along the countertop are self serve muffins, scones & other pastries all for a pretty good price. There’s little paper bags you grab after paying & select your choices. Flavors vary daily. My first time in I ordered a large black dark roast red eye [shot of espresso added] and added brown sugar & cinnamon syrup. Holy Batman, this was a good cup of joe. It was almost horchata esque and tasted like pure morning heaven. The next time I decided to try a bagel & went with their most popular — Smokey Bagel — your choice of bagel all toasted & warmed up with Canadian bacon & cheddar cheese. I was expecting a single slice of two but it’s chock full of meaty goodness and wonderful melted cheese. I almost shoved it down my throat in one bite. It’s simple yet addicting. I should note, it’s a store bought like bagel so don’t be expecting a NY style circle of joy. PROTIP: my friend told me to try it on cinnamon raisin add cream cheese. Crazy? CRAZYGENIUS! I’m just saying, you won’t regret it. Oh and don’t forget those scones. Those scones are bloody good too. Some of the other sandwiches sound delicious but are higher in price; I’ll definitely have to check out the Lox&Bagel and the Reuben at one point. Ooh, and the pesto cream cheese sounds like home! I’ve had friendly customer service; I did have one mistake but I can’t fault any small coffee shop on a weekday morning error as long as it’s not daily. I recommend bringing your own cold cup for iced drinks! I’ve done all take out so not sure for sitting in. Honestly, I mostly love that they open early, make good coffee and have a large menu of drinks & food options, especially when I need to grab lunch to go. I’m sure glad I checked out Sure Shot!

I have come here for years. The scones are amazing and I always come here for them. The lox and bagels are a great price and generous with the lox. The mochas are yummy album I usually get a chai latte. Friendly service and consistent with the drinks and the baked goods. There is nothing more I could ever want.

My wife and I visited our friend and his kids who lives just up the street from Sure Shot Café for our annual visit for LA. it seems to be a local favorite. It’s a small place with may be 20 sit down slots of 10 tables(?). For the 75 mins or so that we were there, the place was packed with the order line queued up for all but may be 10 minutes. Glad to have found such a place. The coffee drinks and food was pretty good. Look at that waffle! The kids loved it.

First off I’ll have to say their pistachio scone and con panna was fantastic. I really like the scones here. I’m a big fan of pistachio in general, so no surprise when I fell in love with this scone. I tried their smokey sandwich on multigrain bagel. It was also good. The iced Thai was good, but a little too sweet after everything I had. There is very limited seating. I had to wait a few minutes. It seems like a pretty popular place. There is a parking lot that had ample parking even for a weekday morning. I was very pleased with this place. I’ve had it on my bookmarks for quite some time and it did not disappoint.

I come here about 3 or 4 times a week. I live across the street. They remember regulars drinks and food orders. I noticed it’s only mine that they remember. They always have a smile on their face, no matter who’s working. The coffee is always great. I get a chai soy latte iced normally. It doesn’t have a lot of spices in it like coffee bean and tea leaf, but it’s really good if you’re looking for a milder taste. The regular coffee is also good. They change the coffee bean they use I believe once a week. Or it might be daily. So you never get tired of the same black coffee. The baked goods are exellent, made fresh every morning. I also enjoy the lox and bagels. You get a choice in bagel and you receive it separated so you can build it yourself. I like that because I don’t like capers. It’s a chill fun place and I enjoy coming back day after day. Plus they’re dog friendly

The coffee isn’t all that great or perhaps it is not prepared correctly. A latte can actually have too much milk! The food is good. However inconsistent with side items — if you get it to go, they won’t give you pretzels. I’ve had to ask for them. But if you get an order in house, your sandwich always shows up with pretzels!!!(?). 3 stars fr the sandwich.

Its a good place to hang after classes. I love how its not very loud. I love their coffee its good! But its nothing special like those in starbucks or coffee bean & tea leaf unless you are outdoors and just wanted time to chill and have time with friends or yourself. Tried their smokey bagels. It makes sense why its popular in there. The staff are actually nice. I don’t drink much coffee but trying out their coffee kinda starts my exploration on tasting out different types of coffee. Its looks vintage but needs some improvement on the surroundings. Not trying to be picky but it looks a little old.

The room is very plain and a bit dark with about 6 tables. Good friendly service. Nice selection of sweets, bagels, sandwiches and of course coffee. I had the Vegetarian Bagel. Tomato, steamed red bell pepper, sautéed onion, and provolone cheese. Soooo good !! The sweet juicy tomato combined with hot melty provolone on a toasty whole wheat bagel. Their coffee is also very good.

It was good, but nothing special. I’d still prefer Starbucks. The place looks run down and could really, REALLY use some fresh paint. I’m not saying it should look like a spa– but paint the walls! The coffee was okay. We asked for whipped cream but they used cool-whip which, well, isn’t whipped cream. And on an iced drink it didn’t work well. Nothing special. The brownie was tasty– but again not amazing. The staff was okay. The girl who took our order was very nice but the rest of the staff was very blasé about people. I’m sure these peeps will rail other establishments on Unilocal for lackluster service, yet they don’t seem to want to go out of their way to help you a little. I was lost looking for the straws but the staff just looked at me weirdly instead of pointing at them around the corner. Would I go here if a friend said lets meet here? Yes. But it’s gotta be a good friend. And I may bring coffee with me.

Theme of the Month — Trying something new = Waffles So I’ve been waiting all week to come n get the Waffles at Sure Shot. If u know me at all, I am not a breakfast person as I dislike many breakfast types foods… Coffee, Eggs and all type of sausages jus to name a couple as well as waffles =( Unlike pancakes, I never got used to the feel n taste of waffles although some would say that it’s similar. IDK if it’s because u can’t spread butter nicely on waffles n it gets caught in each of the crevices or how some have a thin n crunchy texture which in any other case would be heavenly… I’m not really sure what it was about waffles =( Now u may b saying… «Then Why r u in a coffee shop trying waffles when u don’t like either»??? Heehee… All I would b able to say is «idk» =(but I am… N I’m glad that I am. Location. Sure Shot Café is located in the Makiki Village shopping area on wilder. Im a proud born n raised Makikian n lived right across the street all my life. Being that I don’t drink coffee I’ve never been to sure shot more than 1x maybe to get a slice of cheesecake in all the 18+ years it’s been here. It’s right next to Village Market n the bus stop. Parking. Village has a small parking lot for all its patrons as well as a few street parking options. Setting. Sure Shot is a small quaint spot with all ur pick me up needs. There’s seating maybe for 25 people or so as well as a couple small outside tables. Coffees. Sure Shot has a variety of house/speciality coffees that r designated on certain days of the week. From lattes to espresso from macchiato to Americanos… Thai, breve, con panna… Blended or iced, they got it. Not a coffee drinker??? They got teas, hot coco, lemonade n soda. Other options r Italian sodas, shakes(Italian n Oreo). Sweet Treats… The good stuff =) they have fresh house baked croissants(my fav BTW), scones, muffins… Sliced desserts like pies n cheesecake. Bagels. My fav is the Lox & Bagel(pic attached). It comes with a generous amount of tomato slices, thinly sliced onions n lox… N capers, can’t forget the capers. U can choose what type of bagel u want from the everything bagel, plain, whole wheat, onion, blueberry, or cinnamon raisin. The bagel is lightly toasted n a nice scoop of cream cheese is added to complete this plate of yumminess. Along with lox, they offer: veggie, veggie melt, smokey bagel n a bagel-wich. Sandwiches. Options available r: the basic, melt, veggie, veggie melt, Rueben, French dip, n meatball. My fav is the Rueben. Plenty of pastrami to satisfy ur craving, with just enough sauerkraut, topped with melted Swiss n thousand island dressing on rye bread. If u dine in, they’ll throw in some pretzels for ur eating pleasure. Soups n Salads. Yup they got that too. Amazeballs!!! Well… Enough about all of that because I still haven’t gotten to what I really wanted to talk about… The Waffles!!! Sooo… Its jus one of those things that when u finally decide to try it, u think, «why they heck didn’t I try it earlier» because u feel like uve wasted so much time by not trying it earlier =( There’s just something about their waffles… Rather it’s the fluffiness perfectly mixed with the crisp of the outside. Or the blend of apples, strawberries, n bananas that have been perfectly chopped n sliced to b able to get a little morsel of heaven in every bite. N to top it all off, whipped cream =) u don’t need syrup… Promise. The natural juices n sweetness of the fresh fruits n whipped cream is perfection!!! But it’s only served on weekends n DINEIN only from 8−11am… Go early because around 8ish, is when the crowd starts to roll in. Get out n TRYSOMETHINGDIFFERENT =) have fun…

At first I was just looking for a place to have dinner and this place showed up… lol Checked the photos, it all looked really good. The morning we visited for breakfast, we almost missed the location. It’s the Village Market in Makiki, a small hole in the wall café. Parking — in the same lot as Village Market. I had told Jeremy that it was a breakfast place, but he thought breakfast plates, no no no. Sandwiches, soups, fruits, cereal, bagels, toast. There’s a counter top filled with plates of pastries for your choosing, with glass plates(if you choose to dine in) or bags(if you’re on the go). Really think the pastries should be in a case, and not exposed so much. It was really dark inside, which made me wonder how some of the older guys could read their morning paper. Decided on the smokey bagel and latte: Waited at one of the open tables by their window. Love their Sure Shot Café mug, the latte, not so much. The smokey bagel on the other hand was really good but something that could be made in any kitchen, right? Come back? Maybe if I was in the area craving what they have, other than that, not any time soon. Photos can be deceiving.

EDIT: Someone send me a note saying this review was rude and entitled. And I can see how the style I wrote it in can make it seem exactly that, but I’m going to leave it because there’s some usefulness to it. Let me summarize the usefulness so you an avoid the rude bits: 1) There is no bathroom 2) There is no wifi 3) If you are intolerant of wheat and dairy, there is NOTHING you can eat here. Except for the oatmeal with fruit. 4) When you order soy instead of milk, they might accidentally give you milk. Original review: Dear Sure Shot, How I wish I loved you. How I wish I could spend every weekday holed up in the corner with my laptop for a couple of hours while my daughter attends her part-time preschool across the street. But wishes are just fantasies, and life is real, and in reality you and I just do not mix. I need a bathroom. I can’t quite make it 2 hours in a coffee shop with no restroom without the threat of peeing myself when I finally stand up to leave. I would like wifi. It’s not necessary, but would be nice. I would also like it if you offered something healthy aside from your oatmeal. Your oatmeal is literally the only food item I can eat. And your decaf tea is the only thing I can drink. I realize it is not your responsibility to cater to everyone’s health whims, especially to my particularly limited nutrition plan(when I’m being good) but it would be really nice if you offered a fruit bowl WITHOUT yogurt because some of us just do not digest cow milk properly. I know you have fruit. I’ve seen it on my oatmeal. It’s there. It would also be nice if your service was better and I didn’t receive cow milk in my tea when I ordered it with soy. Perhaps not a big deal to you, but a BIG deal to the dairy intolerant. Especially as you have, ya know, no bathroom. But really, you don’t have to do any of these things and you probably don’t want people hanging out and taking up space for two hours at a time. That’s fine. There really is no point to this letter except for how much I wish we could be together for the sheer sake of convenience. But we can’t. Sincerely, Angela
Becky M.

Sure Shot is my go-to coffee spot for two things: their Lox Bagel and quick coffee. A local hole-in-the-wall located in the heart of Maikiki and offers their customers a place to enjoy coffee with friends, good music and delicious homemade pastries. They don’t offer wifi(c’mon!) so I don’t recommend coming here to do online work. I enjoy coming here more than a starbucks because it’s local, small, I can enjoy time with myself or a friend in a very intimate setting, and they have good food. The lighting here isn’t that great, but it just adds to that allure of being a tucked away gem that continues to thrive in an urban corporate coffee world slowly taking over our neighborhoods here in Hawaii.

Beau and i stopped in here on a Saturday morning for some breakfast… we shared a bagel and lox and it was pretty good… prices are a little high given the location and limited tables– but the smoked salmon was really good and the bagel freshly toasted. A little stingy on the cream cheese– but I suppose my waistline will thank them… the Belgian waffles seemed epic– huge and smothered in goodness like strawberries and cream… looked extremely appetizing. All in all– worth a try! But expect to pay around $ 7 for a bagel with the extras… sandwiches the same– but they do look amazing and they cut the turkey fresh. Pie slices and banana bread and pastries were available and though they caught my eye– I’m more of a savory chick myself.

Sure Shot is a quaint neighborhood coffee shop located in Makiki. It’s within walking distance of my current apartment, so it’s very convenient. However I’m not sure I would expend any extra effort to go here if it wasn’t. Parking sucks(the lot is decently sized but the stalls are super tight… don’t be surprised if crooked parkers take up additional spaces, or if you come back to a small ding on your vehicle). The inside could really use some work and some better lighting? It’s always so dim. Anyway, the baristas are nice. Most look like young college students. Drinks are very reasonably priced. I usually go for a skinny iced vanilla latte(or soy for + $ 0.75) and a scone. Their scones are the highlight for me. I like the apple cinnamon and the strawberry. If you don’t go early they run out of a lot of the better flavors. The pastries are self-serve and they are left out in the open… heaven forbid a fly let itself inside. They also have some simple sandwiches to choose from, and on the weekends I saw that they offer a Belgian waffle with fresh fruit which seems to be a popular pick.

Variety of scones in a reasonable price and those are tasty! It’s not in my area so I’m not sure if I make a special trip to go back there again but it would be a great breakfast spot if you are in the area. I had to go to Roosevelt high school yesterday morning so I Unilocaled to see if there’s somewhere I should stop by. I love scones so their pics on Unilocal made me smile :) It was less than 5 min drive from school and the trip there really made our pleasant morning. I had a Toffee and a blue berry scone and a cup of Macchiato and bold coffee. My bf tried a scone and their most popular Smokey Bagel which was so reasonable also. He really liked it and I loved their scone! It is a small casual spot with friendly stuff. Nothing fancy, ambience but cozy and you’ll see lots of local people come to grab some scones. I got their Cream Cheese Brownie which looked just chocolate but said cream cheese! I haven’t tried it yet so need to find out if I really taste cream cheese asap! If they had a bathroom I would’ve given it 5 stars…

I work from home and every once in awhile I like to change it up by leaving the comfort of my quiet apartment for the chatter of a locally owned coffee shop. It’s easily been a decade since my last visit to Sure Shot and oddly enough it’s barely changed. PROS: +Big lot with lots of free parking at shopping complex. +$ 7.25 for bagel with lox and cream cheese. Very shareable and this was delicious! +Yummy scones and baked goods for days! +Lots of seating for you and a friend. +Love the wall art made by local kids +A truly community centered gathering place CONS: +No Wi-Fi: You do realize you’re a coffee shop right? Thank goodness I have a wireless card or else I wouldn’t have been able to get anything done. +Pretty run down but that’s kind of why everyone is here and not at Starbucks. +No restroom. I guess I can’t really hang out here to work. +The bus stop is right out front which makes for some pretty interesting characters. So the morale of the story is to stop in and grab takeout. OR if you’re going to dine in make sure you’re really there to dine in and not to coffice because this place is not built for staying for a few hours.
