Great way to feed hungry teenage boys. For $ 8 you get a large serve of rice, salad with choice of dressing and your strips of marinated steak or chicken cooked on a BBQ plate to order. It was simple and tasty. If they’re really hungry you can get the larger serve but the $ 8 one is quite large. Cans of soda are $ 1.50. We went several times during our stay and there was always a lineup. During lunch it’s the local tradesmen grabbing a meal. This was one of the boys favorite places. Also it’s just a few steps off the beach so easy to grab after a swim! Oh and it’s a great place to watch the sunset!

Dang! Why did I find this place the last day of my visit to Hawaii. The fresh cook to order chicken plate was so good. The price for what you get was even better. You know it get real steep on food spending especially after 1 week of eating out for breakfast– lunch — dinner. For $ 8 bucks you get rice and salad with the chicken. The chicken was tender and very flavorful. It’s cooked on a grill. They maybe serving it up in a Shack but the food taste like a nice sit down restaurant.
The healthy portion and sitting on the beach made this lunch a real treat.

The food here was so good at a great price! The reason I am giving it 3 stars was because of the lady that was reading everyone’s orders. I saw a gentleman put extra teriyaki on his plate and didn’t put the bottle back where it belonged, she picked it up and slammed it so hard it squirted out of the top. I then saw a lady tell her to keep the change.. Maybe she didn’t hear the lady paying because when the lady walked away she seemed irritated and threw the money in the tip jar. THEN there were Japanese people trying to order. and obviously there was a bit of a language barrier but she was clearly making fun of them. I then saw someone who she recognized as a local and she was treated them completely different. It’s like serving those that are tourist was such a nuisance. Being on a beach walk with many hotels around, I just don’t know what she expects when she goes to work everyday… people will remember how you made them feel.

2 meals and 2 drinks for $ 20, not gonna beat that on Waikiki. The steak was incredible, the chicken was incredible, the salad and the rice, everything was perfect. Even the lady at the register was kind and helpful. I would definitely go back to this place. Love the Steak Shack!

Some of the best food we’ve had while in Hawaii! The steak & chicken combo is 5 stars! Sauces are great, fresh salad on the side is the perfect balance to the meat & rice. Would recommend this place to anyone! Perfect place to stop and get lunch while on the beach.

Steak shack is supreme!
My boyfriend and I tried it after reading good reviews on Unilocal whilst we were holidaying in Waikiki. The shack is located just off the beach and is super small, you would miss it if you blinked, but DON’T BLINK!
Simple idea — steak or chicken which is perfectly covered in spices and flavours, cooked to perfection and thrown into a box with green leaves and your choice of dressing (always choose ranch). Cheap, quick, easy and located right on the beach so the view whilst eating is divine!
We loved it so much we came back for lunch again a few days later. It was a nice healthy, cheap, refreshing relief from all the fatty (don’t get me wrong, YUMMY) American food we had been consuming.

Really good food for a beach stand. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the portion size was great for the price.

Walk to the window. Order. Get your food. Find a table to eat at. And lastly, enjoy the view. I got the steak and chicken combo. Although both was good. I would get all steak next time. Tender and flavorful on both chicken and steak. In my opinion the steak is best medium rare.

Perfect for a cheap lunch with a view

There’s nothing better than delicious cheap food with an amazing view.
I mean everywhere you go in Hawaii is gorgeous but here you can enjoy an amazing steak plate for only $ 8.
I scheduled my visit here so we can enjoy the amazing Hawaiian sunset as we were eating. As the sun was setting we finished our food and sat on the beach. It was a great way to finish our last night in Waikiki!
Just come here you won’t regret it.

This place was another great find for a quick cheap meal along the beach front. Steak Shack is easy to miss because it is so small, so keep your eyes open when walking by. Picture what your closet would look like with a grill and a rice cooker inside and that’s Steak Shack.
If you want steak or chicken with rice, this is the place to go. The only other thing they have is salad which comes with every meal. The base rate is $ 8 for steak tips cooked the way you like them with rice and salad. I ordered mine medium rare and they were perfect. Combine that with a seat overlooking the water and you’ve got a perfect lunch. This will be another go-​to for me anytime I’m in town.

Fantastic deal! Your options are chicken or steak or chicken or steak or… chicken or steak lol. Or both, but honestly that’s all they need cause it’s gooooood! Supposedly seasoned with just salt and pepper but I don’t know, it must be in the marinade. Just $ 8 will buy a to-​go box stuffed full of steamed white rice, steak… or chicken, and some pre-​mixed salad.
Excellent for a quick lunch fill up!

Oh my God! This place is phenomenal! The steak was extremely tender and juicy. The marinade was awesome!

I have to say the location is great and the view is priceless. It’s on fort russey on the beach side next to a subway. I have read many reviews on this eatery, so I decided to venture on over. It’s pretty easy to find thanks to Unilocalers;) I was greeted by a nice lady with great spunk.
I looked at the menu and opted for a steak plate with no rice just extra salad. It turns out that the mixed greens were organic. That is a big plus in my book! She asked how I would like my meat cooked, and I told her medium rare. I paid my 8 bucks and went to grab a seat in the shade. Within a few minutes they were calling my name. I eagerly opened my container and stuck my fork in the meat
It was tough for me to chew, and I examined it even closer. It seemed to me that it was cooked rare, and tasted as if it was coated in a ton of salt and pepper. I asked politely if it could be cooked a little longer, and the cook looked a bit annoyed and not amused. I knew he took it as an insult, but that was not my intention. I felt like I had a cow still mooing over my salad.
They took the plate back and cooked the steak a few minutes longer. The final product still did not impress me. It was still very hard to chew and swallow. There was a heavy hand of salt over the meat. The food was nothing to be raving about. I gave it two stars are due to the organic greens, view and location.

Great deal on Waikiki. It’s in a hidden spot as well. They offer teriyaki grilled chicken and steak portions served with salad and white short grain rice.
We ordered the steak and chicken combo. They plate with two meats is $ 12.50.
It’s a dark meat chicken and a chuck type of steak cut into small pieces. Both meat had a similar marinade: salty, sweet teriyaki style meat. The portions are rather generous because they offer a salad with the entrée. If you generally favor smaller portions I could see someone easily share a meal with the steak and chicken combo.
However, for me it was like eating a normal dinner with my voracious appetite.
Love this place. Hope it keeps it up for many years to come.

Needed a place to grab lunch, so looked on Unilocal!4.5 stars with 100+ reviews sounded good to us! Glad we tried out this little shack because it was delicious!
Worked up an appetite walking all the way from the Hilton in this heat! You can either get a chicken plate, steak plate, or a combo of both! Got the combo! The salad was good! I liked the chicken more than the steak. Was a lot more flavorful in my opinion!
Plus, you can grab a beer right across the way too!

We walked along the beachwalk from the Atlantis Submarine dock to Steak Shack, which is located behind the Subway’s. It’s a tiny place — you order at the window and picked at the next window a few feet away. The process is super simple — you tell them which option of meat you want (there are 3), what kind of rice you want (brown or white) and what dressing for your salad (I believe there are 4 dressing choices).
The food is filling and super cheap — much better than eating at any of the resorts if you just want a quick and easy meal. I had the steak plate, which filled me up until dinner much later in the day. Highly recommended!

i work in waikiki but this place is just under 1 mile away from my office. is it worth the 15min walk there? YES! it’s a hole-​in-​the-​wall place located on the beach side behind the Waikiki Shore Resort and corner of Fort Derussy.
what makes this place great are the workers, the food and the view. for under $ 10, you get steak, rice and spring mix greens. meat is cooked exactly the way i like it and their portions are generous for both meat and salad. it definitely doesn’t make me feel like a fat ass after eating this as i feel i’m getting a good mix of proteins and greens :)
not to mention, the view of the beach is simply breathtaking. there’s a couple tables in the area or you can just take it down to the beach and enjoy it there!
