My son and I have been wanting to try Shaloha for quite some time. The anticipation and expectation was definitely met. We didn’t know what to order and decided to order the Shaloha plate which was a little of «everything». The customer service was filled with aloha. We were so excited to eat our Shaloha plates that I forgot to take a before pic. Pic is a result of my fill of Shaloha for the night. Everything was onolicious!

Yay! Finally got the chance to try this place out! Easy to find across from St Louis drive in same corner as Subway. Pros: Check in on Unilocal and you get a free Lemonana which is mint infused lemonade which is usually priced at(3.00 $). –also they give military and UH students a free side which I thought was great! –I had the chicken Shawarma combo, which is the sandwich and choice of 2 sides(16 $) so I choose the pita chips and the falafel. OMG I couldn’t have made a better choice. In my mind I thought the shawarma would be like a Greek gyros buy it’s not which is fine since nonetheless it was great. Lots of vegetables and chicken in there, I’m sorry I can’t describe it better because this is coming from a Chinese girl and I’d probably Kung fu the ingredients and description and totally disrespect the culture! So ill refrain;) But let’s just say it was a whole lot of yumminess up in there. –Falafel was really good! Crunchy on the outside and so good and moist on the inside. –Pita Chips and Hummus is a MUSTTRY! And this is coming from someone who’s supposed to be on a low carb diet right now! They were just fabulous lightly seasoned and crunchy and dipped in that hummus was perfect! I’ll have to run tomorrow but it was worth it! Really the only Con if there is any, is that it’s a small parking situation. There are 12 stalls that serve Shaloha, subway and L & L so it’s a little hectic with everyone coming and going. But be patient or park on the side street. I waited about 15 min for my food but it was worth it, they were so sweet they brought it outside to me as I waited by my car! Another solid place to try in Kaimuki!

Amazing food and service! Softest, fluffiest pita ever. Had the falafel sandwich and the eggplant sandwich. Surprises inside like boiled egg and French fries within the sandwiches, interesting but complementary. The owner was incredibly friendly, and gave me a lemonade drink and salad sampler on the house, as it was my first time. Sandwiches are HUGE! Parking was tight but ample. I suggest calling the order in, had a ten to fifteen minute wait but well worth it. Will definitely be visiting again!

Chicken shawarma(sp) lol was amazing. I almost wanted to add vinegar to bump it up! The eggplant was blah. The humus was amazing really fresh and authentic. The line is long the place is small and the parking sucks but I do dream of that chicken I would definitely go back for that. They make their own pita bread everyday fresh and u can pick up a pack if u swing by. Folks keep in mind there is no seating so it’s all take out.

I went here on a Friday afternoon. My first impression of the place was wow, the people who work here are super friendly! I ordered a shawarma sandwich with a side of falafel. I received my food literally 5 minutes after I ordered. For $ 10, you get a lot of food. The sandwich is big and they gave me 5 or 6 falafel which is pretty generous. This sandwich was freaking amazing. It’s composed of their homemade pita bread filled with humus, red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, and chicken with an insaaaaaanely good marinade. There might’ve been some other ingredients in there that I missed, but the point is: this sandwich rocks my socks! The falafel were crispy on the outside and super filling. The people running this place are really nice, I got my food quickly, it smells and tastes like heaven, and the price is right. Honestly, I’m so happy this place exists. 10⁄10 would go again.

Great filling lunch! The freshness makes the difference. I love the falafel! Plus, they take care of the Saint Louis students and my son goes there. «Dad, can we have Shaloha today?» Sure, twist my arm! Try the hummus and pita chips… off the hook!

We looooove the food here. It’s so delicious and filling! When you walk in you get piece of their soft pita bread with their glorious hummus on it. I usually go with the falafel pita and my husband gets the shawarma. We also spring(calories!) for the pita chips and hummus. I’m always in the mood for Shaloha!

The best Mediterranean/Israeli food I’ve ever had. I love falafel, and know a good one when I taste it. This was a good falafel. Eat here.

I ordered catering for a group of UH students and teachers from Shaloha today and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. They have 4 catering options and the Shaloha Tasting menu is by far the best deal at $ 108. You get some of everything. See my attached picture. The salads were packed separate from the build your own pita hot entrees. I went with schnitzel over swarma and they easily doubled the schnitzel for no extra charge. The sauces and hummus came in another bag and finally the crowd pleaser pita and pita chips. I would definitely recommend Shaloha catering for your next event.

I found Shaloha at the Saturday ward farmers market(8a-12) where I tasted the best pita I’ve had in my life — I now buy a pack every single week. So two days later I had to check out the restaurant. Heads up, it’s just a takeout place so don’t expect to eat at a table, though there is a bench outside. I’d actually recommend just eating there or in your car because you won’t want to wait. I tried out the falafel, shawarma, and the schnitzel along with the pita chips and was blown away. If I had to pick a favorite it would be the falafel but you’ll be happy with any of them. These pitas were STUFFED with goodness and you won’t be able to stop eating the warm pita chips — think fried up pita bread rather than just chips. I got there at about 7p on a Monday and they were literally counting down the last few pitas so be sure you get there before they run out! Rating: 10 out of 10.

The first few bites of pita chips are incredible because of the texture, but the spices used are surprisingly one note, boring, and very oily. After a few chips I couldn’t eat any more and threw it out. Did not like that the workers were texting on their phones, and blasting rap music. Won’t be going back.

I’m driving up Waialae Avenue having a carb craving. What do I do? Well, as always I click on Unilocal to see what my YEEPS have to say. After reading 5 reviews, my mouth is salivating to try Shaloha! I planned on getting just a sandwich but after the friendly girls working up front had me taste the hummus and pita, I added a container of hummus, tabouleh salad and a bag of pita bread. Everything with the sandwich together cost $ 20 Now let’s dig into the Shawarma sandwich $ 10 this is marinated chicken thighs and fresh veggies. Taste is on point, delicious. But very wet. Pointer: keep the foil on while eating it. It is very filling you can share this. Can’t wait to come back to try the Snitzel and other things.

First trip was really good. Pita bread is fresh and backed on site. Couldn’t be any better. We got the shawarma. They put so much great veggie salads in it, no need for a side. Really good. Second trip, they did not drain the sides, so lots of liquid. Made the pita bread squishy bad and the bottom fell out. Alost had to eat it like a dog eating from a dog bowl as I didn’t have a fork. Still tasted OK, but squishy cole-slaw juice logged pita is not the same. Tip — no place to eat in. To go only.

I tried their chicken schnitzel sandwich with fresh pita bread. I gotta say it was the bomb! This ship is small so it’s more of a take out spot but it’s worth coming to! I also got a free«Lemonana» drink which is mint infused lemonade. The staff are very friendly and there’s a parking lot with free parking! Also don’t forget to ask for their hot sauce that goes well with their sandwiches!

Very tasty! FOOD: Middle Eastern food can be difficult to come by here in Hawaii, so I appreciate Shaloha. It’s not the best Middle Eastern food on the island, but it’s tasty and will satisfy your cravings for hummus and homemade pita chips! SERVICE: Really really nice people that work there. Very laid back atmosphere, and they often give you samples while you wait… and the wait isn’t that long at all! There isn’t much seating though, so I might recommend take out. PRICE: The price is very fair, especially compared to other local places like the Fat Greek.

I work just up the hill and I eat order lunch from Shaloha pretty often. They never disappoint. The make the best falafel and humus on island. Their Pita Chips is not like anything else. It so delicious and I can’t get enough of the spices and herbs sprinkled on it. I always try to eat the last bits of the spices, they’re so good. I ordered catering for a Board meeting today for 8 – 10 people and got the«Taster» platter. Pretty good portion. Everyone loved it and asked to have it again at next meeting. Ordered it the night before for pick up the next day. This is what came with the platter below. —(2) bags of their pita bread cut in half —(4) sauces — ½ pint Tahini — ½ pint Amba(never noticed the taste of this on it own but is lemony and delicious) — ½ pint Hot Sauce — 1 pint Hummus —(4) salads — Tabouleh Salad(parsley) — Israeli Salad(cucumber tomato) — Red Cabbage — White Cabbage —(4) Sandwich fillings — Falafel(approx 30 pcs) — Fried Eggplant — Shawarma(chicken) — Schnitzel(breaded and fried chicken breast fillet) — Fried Pita Chips I knew they take catering orders but couldn’t find that menu online. I believe you can order catering platter based on the fillings that you for example, a falafel platter or Shawarma platter. I believe they make pre-made sandwiches as well but it wasn’t recommended as the pita might get soggy by the time you are ready to eat it. They sell pita breads by the bag and they make those in-house. They keep very well in the freezer until you are ready to eat them. You can microwave for a few seconds and then pop in the toaster if you want it toasted. I like to eat it with peanut butter and jelly.

I found myself craving for something a bit healthy and light since I felt a bit guilty for eating fast food the night before(bad Faye –___-). So of course I looked at my trusty Unilocal app and typed in «healthy» and Shaloha popped up. I had heard good things from coworkers, so I turned my GPS on :) Its located on Waialae ave; going East, its going to be on the right side on the corner of a street. I believe that it was fairly close the St. Louis school. Now just a warning; I feel sorry for you Unilocalers that decide to go here and drive a big truck. Because if its crowded(and it was crowded when I went on a Sat afternoon), itll be a bit of a squeeze 0.0. I drive a sedan and i had to maneuver quite a bit. The parking lot is small, with few stalls that are a little small. Oh and its on a hill, so be careful when opening your car door! Shaloha is quite small; they have a sign outside with the menu on it, as well as within the shop itself. But I would suggest looking at the menu first before going in, since its such a tiny place that you dont want to be blocking and holding up the line by staring at the menu thats inside. The place looks like a kitchen actually. I almost didnt go in because I thought I was going through the wrong door –___________– But theres a spot where the worker puts the sandwiches together, and theres a kitchen somewhere in the back. The rest looks like its storage for the naan, with a register right next the the prep station. I went with a Schnitzel. I have only ever heard the word before, but Ive never tasted or known what it was. But its fried chicken in a delicious pita bun cut open on one side, along with veggies such as cucumber, tomatoes and cabbage thats covered with a light dressing/sauce. I made it a combo, and ordered the Israeli salad and Pita chips and hummus. And since I checked in on Unilocal,I got a free drink was a honey/mint lemonade. As I was tasting my drink(which was SUPER refreshing, btw, especially is this heat), the worker offered me a sample of their naan. It was a HUGE piece! And he dipped it in some hummus for me :) Super nice! I tried it, and OMG. It was soft and light and fluffy and all that good stuff that makes me happy ^____^ I was really tempted to get a bag, but at ~$ 7 I held off. The Good: –Food: The Schnitzel was really tasty and they give such huge portions! I highly recommend getting this, as well as the Pita chips and hummus. The hummus was smooth and fluffy, and the Pita chips were crisp and flavorful. The Israeli salad was okay, but nothing special; it was chopped up tomatoes and cucumbers, which had a little vinaigrette taste to it, but thats it. –Huge portions! –Service: Really friendly staff. I really appreciated the sample while waiting. The Bleh: –Parking: small parking lot, so if its really busy youll have to find parking elsewhere. –No place to sit and enjoy. There are two seats outside, but thats it. So if youre looking for a nice sit-down area, this isnt your place –Price: a bit pricey but they give big portions to make up for it. Ill be back for that naan~~ :)

I’ve been craving schnitzel for a while now and it’s hard to find any on Oahu. We read about this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. We each got the schnitzel pita and since my boyfriend is allergic to sesame seeds they accommodated him with other sauce options, which was great! It was amazing! The chicken was nice and juicy and we got a side of the white cole slaw and the cucumber side. The cole slaw was so refreshing and tasted crisp and fresh! Since we checked in there on Unilocal,we got a free drink! Definitely check in and get that drink! It’s a lemonade ginger drink that is probably super unhealthy because of all the sugar, but it was a nice surprise for such a warm day! It’s take out only so we ate on the chairs outside. It was windy and we had to hold all of our food down, but the food was fantastic! Only thing I would want, is for them to have seating inside to enjoy the food

Shaloha is a take out Mediterranean Restaurant serving pita pocket sandwiches with fresh ingredients. House made pita, hummus, falafel, chicken shawarma, eggplant, and Israeli salad. You can taste the freshness in the bread and the fillings, there’s lots of flavor and texture in these super stuffed pockets. Stop by for a souped up sandwich, and carb up, get an order of pita chips with hummus – the fresh pita is deep-fried so it’s hot and crispy on the outside but still chewy on the inside, dip them in hummus, they’re so so good. And take a bag of pita home to enjoy layer.
