It’s too bad that the best food I’ve ever gotten on campus is from a temporary kiosk! Da Spot has set up a temporary kiosk, actually it’s a quick-shade canopy, some coolers, tables and a grill. It appears that they’re there because of the temporary closure of Paradise Palms. Da Spot already has a kiosk on campus, but it doesn’t have the full offering of meat dishes as they serve only vegetarian dishes in the sustainability courtyard. the single item plates are $ 7, and the two item combo plates are $ 10. They include your choice brown or yellow rice, tossed salad, and your entrée item(or two for the combo plate). I ordered the Egyptian lamb shank plate, which costs $ 3 extra, and yellow rice. The lamb shank was tender, meaty and cooked perfectly in a delicious Egyptian sauce. The extra sauce that dripped off of the the lamb soaked into the yellow rice and made it even more flavorful. There were many other items on the menu such as chicken in various types of sauce. I enjoyed the food here today so much that I’m already planning to not bring home lunch tomorrow just so I can visit Da Spot again! I just hope that they eventually become a more permanent part of on-campus dining!
