I went to try the beef and veggie crêpe pocket with my uncle. Showed up around noon and the place was empty. As soon as we sat down we were rushed to order. They were apparently out of the beef and veggie pocket and also the fish ball soup so I went with beef tendon soup and my uncle got the pork shanks. for $ 17 it was a paltry amount of food… no rice with the pork, just a plate of low quality meat with lots of fat. The soup was pretty good but for $ 8 I’ve had plenty better. This place is cash only, which I can understand given it’s a small business. I won’t be coming back.

I love this place because it’s cheap and good. It’s not fancy, and you get your own water. I always get the beef noodle soup and tofu. My wife will usually get dumplings. Great place for a quick bite.

Every thing is excellent and authentic. Dumpling have a «real taste» which is difficult to describe. THe beef shank, pork on noodles, the crispy pockets with a dash of sugar all are really good.

Delicious beef noodle soup; ok soy sauce and 5 spice eggs, good sesame pockets w/beef & veggies, and below average potstickers(aka dumplings w/mystery meat garlic chive, and too typical factory made wrap). I am way too spoiled with mom-in-laws real Taiwan cooking. Mostly I miss hand rolled jau tse wraps on my potstickers which make or break real Chinese food. But, the beef noodle soup was awesome and therefore the 4 star rating. Don’t highly recommend the other dishes, but we only had a sampling. PS– Super nice owner and a real Taiwanese

Do yourself a favor and eat the sesame beef pocket. It’s a Taiwanese thing. It’s a new experience for most to have sugar with their beef, but it’s tasty. The dough pocket works well as sandwich bread and the other flavors are great too(peanuts, cilantro, bean sprouts). Park in the complex for a shorter stay or across the street if you are planning on being in Chinatown for over three hours.

My mom is Taiwanese and for the past 15 years or so we’ve been coming to this little hole in the wall place located in Cultural Plaza; it’s our go-to place whenever my mom is craving food that reminds her of home. My go-to dish is the dumplings while my mother’s is the beef noodles. Their noodles are SOGOOD. We always get a braised pork intestines to share and we leave feeling full and satisfied everytime. Our wallets still feel pretty full afterwards too because the price is really affordable.

I am surprised Honolulu doesn’t have so much Taiwanese food to offer… oh well this hidden place seems to be the only one. And it is not bad! The owners are very nice people.

Came here twice to get their red bean shave ice and rainbow shave ice because the weather was too hot. Great Taiwanese style shave ice and great price too.

Closed on Sundays, very busy on Saturdays. This place is a hidden treasure. One cannot judge a restaurant by its store front. A lavish exterior is nothing to do with a wonderful restaurant, except to the extent they provide clues to what may be offered. It is far better to try a wonderful restaurant at a fair price then to try a fair restaurant at a wonderful price.

Stopped by after reading about it in the Honolulu magazine«biting commentary» article. Tried the taiwanese pancakes with egg inside and the pockets stuffed with meat and vegetables. Soooo good! We also had the noodles with beef tendon. very good they put cilantro in it-really ups the taste. Thanks to a previous Unilocal post, we tried the garlic sauce that was on the table with the red top. Yum Yum– yeah– very garlicky and so good! Small little place but it was clean and had very friendly service. Only takes cash. We will definitely be back to try the other things.

Beef noodles– ok. Taiwanese pancakes– ok. Shaved ice — poor. Herbal tea– great. Mixed beef and rice– good.

Been eating here for years. Their food is addicting, especially the dumplings and egg pancake. Their secret sauce is delicious but just remember there’s a lot of garlic/ginger/chives inside so plan ahead. Owners=chefs are super sweet!

I spent a year in Taiwan so when I crave Taiwanese food, I come here. I would be lying if I said it was really good because I’ve had much better but this place can satisfy my craving sometimes. Beef noodle soup — a must-have if you ever visit Taiwan but they only do an ok job with the broth here so I don’t order it anymore. It might satisfy someone who has never had it before. Braised Tofu — Cheap and tasty. Something really unique about the sauce but it is really good. Egg and chives pancake — This is something that I would normally have in breakfast if I were in Taiwan. It is somewhat filling and it tastes pretty good. Crêpe pocket with beef and vegetables — I don’t know why they ask you if you want sugar. It just tastes too weird to me so I prefer to have it without sugar. This is one of my favorite dishes because they give you two pockets and you can get full if you are an average guy like me. I like to add the brown spicy sauce for each bite. Noodles with ground pork sauce — Not recommended. After a few bites, I realized how bland it was. The Taiwanese usually do this with rice instead and if you do it right, you end up eating a lot of rice with it because the sauce is so good. These are the things that I have tried because they remind me of Taiwan but I’d like to come back and try their other dishes. I also think that they should accept credit cards because I don’t always carry a lot of cash. I get annoyed of business owners cheating on taxes. Good job on the name. I hate it when people cave in and give it a stereotypical name like: dragon, jade, lucky, fortune, red, dynasty, golden, village, panda, garden, or any of that bullshit.

Anyone know the best place to park to go to this location? I think it’s possible to park in the cultural plaza, but I’m not sure about the rates. I wanted to try Taiwanaese food and I must say that I’ve never had anything like what they serve here. Was an interesting experience, way different from the Chinese food I’ve had and the other places in Chinatown. When we walked in we were greeted by a very stern lady who didn’t speak English very well. Seemed like mostly Chinese/Taiwanese people here. They kinda looked at us like, hey what are you doing in our Taiwanese restaurant?! Don’t be turned off by the«foreign» vibe here, you know it’s authentic and it’s what makes coming to places like these interesting. That whole cultural plaza place is pretty good, an interesting experience with a more«authentic» feeling than the rest of Chinatown where they are used to/designed for tourists and others who are shopping there. Overall I recommend venturing off the beaten path and checking out this place and this area, just don’t tell *too” many people about it lest it gets overrun by hipsters or something!

Came here on the recommendation of their beef noodle soup. Sadly. Wasn’t terribly impressed. The broth lacked depth of flavor that I seek out in beef noodle soups. Noodle were alright, liked that they had the salty veggies(suan cai), but the tendon was SO tough. Like that its a mom and pop shop though. Menu consists of mainly dumplings and noodle goods. Might be back for those since I saw them hand making the dumplings in the store when I came to pick up my beef noodle. When I called for hours, they said they were generally open until about 5:30pm every night.

Again we went there yesterday, Elia and I have been gone here at least 2 other times in the last month for lunch. We normally spend around $ 20 for two noodles and either a plate of dumplings or a special drink(soy milk or papaya soy milk). The drinks are worthy of the price especially with a steamy bowl of noodles. We enjoy the fresh ingredients, value and and overall cleanliness of this place. Most of Chinatown’s eatery offers the value, but forget cleanliness and fresh & quality food. Service is also mostly hit and miss. I speak Chinese so it’s mostly a hit for me. This place is run by the Taiwanese Mandarin speaking male owner and a Cantonese speaking lady(nope not this wife). For you 1st timers– take note, this is helpful as this happened to me. The service revolves around you is fast; yes you may be ignored until you are ready to order. YOUNEEDTOKNOWTHIS: The menu and ordering is done on the laminated picture menu that is tucked between the chopsticks and condiments. You need to mark your selection(s) with the dry erase marker attached and give it to either one of them. Water is self-serve with a foam cups and a purified water cooler. Final note: they offer a home made tangy(vinegar??) garlic spicy sauce on each table, perfectly paired for the dumplings. If you don’t mind the homey feeling in exchange for some of the best and tastiest dumplings(my humble opinion) and/or stewed beef noodles in Honolulu, you need to try out this ‘hole-in-the-wall’ at the Chinese Cultural Plaza ground floor.

3.5 stars. So anyone that has ever had beef noodle in Taiwan knows that the beef noodle at Seasons pales in comparison. The fact of the matter is, there just isn’t any good Taiwanese food in Hawaii. With that said, I’m at least grateful that there is a place in Hawaii where i can get Taiwanese style beef noodle soup. The rest of the menu is authentic but not very good. It’s simple home cooking, so don’t expect extravagant flavors, but it’s good enough to satisfy your cravings. If it’s your first time, stick with the beef noodle soup. Seating can be limited.

Not sure that I’ve ever had authentic Taiwanese food so I have nothing to compare this to. But on this first visit we had a little visitor, a tiny spider jumping around the table! Great start! Then the chopsticks I picked from the pile were somewhat sticky. Uhh?!! I ordered the Beef Noodle soup. The flavor was good, but I think it would have tasted better if it was actually hot(heat hot) — my friend told me it normally is. Hmm!!! The garlic sauce mixed with the chili was awesome, but I still have that garlic taste in my mouth about 8 hours later! Great when you have to go back to the office and have a somewhat important meeting! Anyhow, I will stick to my packaged Udon and my clean utensils at home before I come back here!

On advice from the Lady there I got the Beef Noodle soup, took a bite of the noodles and thought not bad the flavor is decent and tried the beef also good I like how they lace it with Cilantro I picked the wrong day to eat something hot since it was a hot day but oh well. This would be great on a cold rainy day. So next time there is a cold rainy day I’m going to come visit this place again. Since it is in the Chinese Cultural Center there is parking right there but during lunch hour the parking can get quite full so be aware of that. I should try their Shave Ice one of these hot days.
