I went to the Melt in front of Sports Authority on Ward around noon. There were two people in the truck making grilled cheese’s as fast as they could. With about 8 people in front of me, the wait was about 10 – 15 min. There is no seating being a food truck, and the only beverage is bottled water, so we went to Bale in the shopping center to grab a diet coke. I got a tomato & basil(the plain grilled cheese + tomato & basil) for $ 7, and it was very tasty and hot. Cheese was good, sourdough bread was good, crispiness was good, it was all good. I don’t want to know how much butter they slathered on the outside of the bread. When I make grilled cheese myself, I’m sure it’s less butter and a lot cheaper. Bottom line: If you want a solid, large, grilled cheese, and you’re willing to pay $ 6 for it, this is the place to go. If you’re watching calories or think you make a mean grilled cheese yourself, skip it.

The Short Version: — Website said they’d open at 11 am, they ended up opening 20 – 25 minutes later — Website had a Chorizo Melt, which was what I wanted to get, but unfortunately it was not on the menu on this particular day. It also doesn’t seem like they have the Bacon Melt anymore, which I loved on my first visit to Melt. — Had the Waffle Melt and Tapenade Melt, and they were ok, not something I would get again though. — The Tomato Soup was not as thick and tasty as the first time I had it. — Was overcharged $ 1, but fortunately caught it before they gave me my change. The Long Version: So, I check out the Melt website, and see that they are close by(on Mililani Street near downtown), so I decide to grab lunch from there. The website said they will be open from 11 am until they run out. I check out the menu, and was sad to see that the Bacon Melt that I loved the first time I went there was no longer on the menu, but the Chorizo Melt caught my eye. Alrighty, off I go to the Melt truck! Get to the truck promptly at 11 am. First one in line, awesome! Unfortunately the Melt truck was not prompt… actually not even near ready, waited about 20 – 25 minutes before they opened. A line formed about 10 – 15 deep by the time the truck opened. I order the Waffle Melt($ 6), the Tapenade Melt($ 7), and the Tomato Soup($ 2). With all the waiting, I was able to calculate that my bill would be $ 15, but they tried to charge me $ 16 at first. I know, I sound a bit cheap, but overall its a lot of money for grilled cheese sandwiches! Waited another 5 minutes or so for my order, then took it back to work to enjoy. Here’s what I had… Waffle Melt — Cheddar and Ham between 2 waffles. Sounds good, right? That’s why I chose it. But oh, I was so sorely disappointed. Eggo waffles, are you serious!!! I’m not sure why I was imagining a square belgian waffle or something, but Eggos, c’mon. The ham and cheddar were a nice combination, but the waffle was soggy, burnt, and, like any other Eggo waffle, not very impressive. Tapenade Melt — Olive tapenade, tomatoes, gouda on rye. I love salty foods, and so I love olive tapenade. At first, it was good, but I got tired of it really fast. Too salty on the inside, greasy on the outside, just not a good combination for a full sandwich. Tomato Soup — Last time I had this, it had a good texture(not too thin, but not chunky, blended just right), and it was so flavorful. This time, it was a bit on the thin side, and was not as flavorful, needing more salt and basil perhaps. Overall, I was disappointed. First off, by not having the Bacon Melt anymore, but maybe because it wasn’t selling well. Then not having the Chorizo Melt, which I should have looked more closely at their website which does say their menu changes frequently. But to top it off, none of the things I ordered were impressive, in fact, they were pretty disappointing. My mistake was probably getting the wrong items, I should have gotten those items that have stayed on the menu from before… so next time I’ll either get the Triple Melt, the Pastrami Melt, or if I have a big appetite, the Melt of Shame. If this was my first visit, I would probably have given them less stars, but because I know there is potential, it’ll be 3 stars for now, and I just hope that my next visit will be much better than this time around.

Grilled cheese is definitely on my top 5 list of comfort food. Grilled cheese literally takes me back to my childhood days as it was one of two things that my bro could make when we were growing up. For whatever reason, he was an expert grilled cheese maker at the tender grade of 4th. While I could pretty much cook anything my mom taught me to make and could read and follow a recipe, the simplest thing as making a grilled cheese sandwiches while I could do it, it usually just turned out to be, ehh… just okay. So while I was usually responsible for the after school snack-making, it was always a pleasant surprise to have my bro cook up the grilled cheese. Today, I am fortunate that I have a hubby who makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich. However, no matter how good the bro and the hubby’s grilled cheese sandwiches were and are, the one thing about grilled cheese is that you have to eat it right away or it tastes heavy and unappetizing. And that makes it one of the worst, if not the worst sandwich to bring to work as home lunch. And while their are quite a bit of restaurants that serve grilled cheese, in my humble opinion they are usually mediocre at best. So when I heard about Melt and all the rage, I HAD to try it out. So as luck would have it, when we found the truck parked on Ward we scored a parking right next to it AND the line was short. BONUS! One of the specials of the day was a grilled cheese sandwich olive tapenade with basil on rye bread. So I ordered it and after about 10 minutes, my name was called and a received a brown paper sack(more childhood nostalgia!) with my grilled cheese sandwich in it. We rushed back to the office, mouth salivating as the delicious scent of cheese and rye wafting in the air. Parked the car, entered my office, and savored my first bite of my grilled cheese sandwich from Melt… aaaah! Bliss!

It’s interesting how no one on Unilocal has commented on their customer service. Because it’s awful. I’ve been to the melt truck about 4 times now and every time I had bad service. At first, I blamed it on how busy they were, then I made up an excuse for them… maybe they’re just workers(wrong because the next time I asked, the two guys said they were owners). Then I thought maybe they just don’t speak that much English and don’t know American etiquette for customer service because I noticed they seem to have an accent. Maybe they’re not from here? Whatever is the case, expect unfriendly smiles, rushed orders, one word answers and sandwiches/napkins thrown at you instead of placed nicely into your hands. I even got a «hurry up eye roll» when I was trying to decide what to order. I wish someone had warned me. One time, after I placed my order, a man came to place his order. I could tell by their mannerism and conversation, they were friends. They made his sandwich first and gave it to him before starting on ours!!! Unbelievable. I didn’t know you outrightly give priority to your friends in business. Even if you do, at least be discrete about it! Everyone who’s been to melt knows that it takes at least 15 minutes to get your sandwich so I had to wait 30 minutes to get mine just because I wasn’t his friend. For a sandwich with just cheese in it, it’s quite expensive. The cheapest sandwich on the menu is $ 6 and it’s quite small. With the tomato soup which is more like tomato sauce, it will cost you $ 7. But who is going to buy that one? For me, I want some meat in my sandwich, I’m going to get the $ 8 or $ 10 one. Of course it is filling because the bread is toasted with a slab of butter filled with oozing cheese. After I have one, I feel like the oils and fats are flowing to my heart and I’m about to have a heart attack. So yes the sandwich is good! Americans love their grilled cheese! I do love coming here when I have a mean grilled cheese craving. But for the price and bad service, I wish I wasn’t so lazy to make my own.

If you have ever been to one of the Eat the Street rallies, you are bound to see an endless line of people waiting an hour or longer to dine on one of their sandwiches or have one of their soups. I think they are crazy, just follow them on twitter and find out where they will be only to wait 20 minutes for your sandwich! Believe me when I say, it is well worth whatever wait time you choose. While the menu can sometimes change, the staples I have found on their menu are the Triple Melt, the Melt of Shame, and of course their famous Tomato soup. The triple melt is a fantastic blend of gruyère, cheddar, and gouda cheeses on sourdough bread, toasted to an insanely good perfection. I call it my grown-up Grilled Cheese, even though I am sure that is probably an insult to it. The triple melt is a heart attack waiting to happen. I say that often, but this sandwich has a beef patty smashed between two grilled cheese sandwiches. I don’t know about you, but the fact that you are making such a combination gives me heartburn. The tomato soup is simple but features great flavors to complement your sandwich and that warm tingly feeling it incites is nice on a cold day. Service can take a bit, so be sure that you have some time. Sandwiches are made to order, so you have to remember that as you wait under the baking sun, hungry, and clamoring for a sandwich. Their location changes, so be sure to follow them on twitter to find out where they are and what special sandwiches might be on the menu that day! Definitely a great place to grab a sandwich… although I question whether its hour+ long wait worthy?

One of my childhood favorites revamped into an adult sin. Well to some it’s Heavenly but when a trainer watches everything you eat in a diet log, «MELTOFSHAME» doesn’t exactly spell out good eating. In our weekly office adventure, my boss and I wondered what to eat for lunch and said gogi run? But to our dismay they were closed. Fortunately Melt posted that they were open on ward so we decided to make a melt run. When we got there, we looked at the board and saw the three sandwiches. Kabocha melt, three cheese melt, or melt of shame. My boss went for kabocha and i decided to split the melt of shame with my other co worker. Everything is made to order so of course we waited for about 15 mins. I tried my bosses kabocha and to my surprise it was delicious. I didn’t think pumpkin, onions, and cheese would make a good combo but i guess when you slather on butter and cheese, it makes anything taste bad ass. The melt of shame is really shameful. As in, if you order one, you should be ashamed. I think 1 melt of shame is equivalent to your daily fat and caloric intake.(I could be wrong! :)) This sandwich was rich, cheesy, gooey, yummy, oily, kanak attacky. I really could go on describing this bad boy but just know it’s a lot to handle. Amazingly you don’t really feel ashamed ordering it, but you definitely feel the shame after eating it. It’s an experience i’m glad i tried. Its nothing more than grilled cheese on crack. If the truck is in the neighborhood i wouldn’t mind going again to see what other masterpieces this place can add to cheese and bread. :)

During the first Eat the Street Rally, I saw the long line of hungry peeps waiting for their grilled cheese sandwich fix from Melt. I opted not to wait since the line wasn’t moving at all and I was determined to try this place at a later time. Today was the day and I finally tracked them down near the State Capitol. So this melting moment better be worth the long trek from my office. When I arrived to the truck, I quickly noticed a group of people waiting for their greasy goodness… which brought back memories of the long lines at the rally. I committed myself to this adventure so I had to endure whatever wait time it took to grill me a sandwich. They’re like Jack in the Box, make it when you order it. Melt offers a few selection of sandwiches(ranging from $ 6 to $ 11) and the name that caught my eye was the Melt of Shame. With a name like that and a whopping price tag of 11 buckeroos, I felt obligated to overcome whatever shame I was about to face. Within 7 minutes after ordering(yeah I timed it) I got my heart attack in a sack. So was it worth the far walk and the $ 11? Nah not really. Don’t get me wrong, the sandwich tasted okay… but definitely not worth $ 11. Feels like they made a $ 10 profit from me and it’s pretty shameful that I actually paid them for it. So I guess the name fits just perfectly. So if you’re in the mood to eat an overpriced greasy patty melt… this is it. The ratio of what-you-pay to what-you-get is totally out of whack. Maaaaaybe. just maybe I might try a cheaper sandwich in hopes that this food truck can redeem itself, but it won’t be any time soon.

Heart attack in a sandwich. Ive never felt bread be soo heavyly soaked in oil/butter/margarine before. Very good food but kinda priciy for me for what you get.

Who doesn’t like a good grilled cheese sandwich? It’s practically un-American not to! I’ve had two encounters with Melt at each«Eat The Street» food truck rally and they haven’t been spectacular. Trust me when I say I wanted to be blown away. I wanted to be blown every which way up and down plus sideways and backwards but like most sandwich encounters… that rarely happens in real life. At the first food truck rally I ordered up two different sandwiches to split with my BF. I can’t remember their names because I was too hungry to think at that point. I had stood in line for ½ an hour and then had to wait another hour to get my sandwiches. Both sandwiches were decent but I’ve decided that tomatoes and cheese go together about as well as Hitler and Ghandi. They just don’t work. But let it be known that I once had a very bad run in with stewed tomatoes while on a trip to Ireland so the sandwich may have just brought up some gross memory buried in my subconscious. At the second food truck rally my friend Tim P(aka the magic Unicorn) graciously bought me a serving of the lobster bisque and as he so eloquently put it: «It wasn’t bisquey enough.» And I’d have to agree. It tasted watered down and there definitely need to be more heavy cream in there to give it some oomph! C’mon Melt, how’s a girl suppose to get a fat *ss off of this?! I scoff at how many calories are in this cup of soup. In Melt’s defense I think the food truck rally was the wrong place for me to eat their food because both times I was a little bitchy. I can’t stand waiting in lines and that’s not Melt’s fault. I’m definitely going to give them another chance and head to their truck when they’re in town during the weekday. I want to eat their steak melt. But no more bisque for me because I don’t think that soups are their forte.

The Melt of Shame. What a powerful name for a sandwich. It sounds like a very manly thing to eat and even while placing the order I felt like a tough guy. Yes, that’s right, we finally hit the Melt truck today. We’ve been meaning to come here for quite some time and as the old adage goes, good things definitely come to those who wait. The wife is a huge fan of a good grilled cheese. She got the Triple Melt with tomato soup and I ordered up the very manly Melt of Shame as stated above. The Melt of Shame is huge. Let’s take a look at the ingredients from top to bottom. Okay, we have a slice of bread, cheddar cheese, another slice of bread, grilled onions, sauce, quarter pound patty, slice of bread, cheddar cheese and finally one last slice of bread. Holy cow. All this for $ 11. It might seem expensive and it sort of is, but it tastes great. It isn’t less filling and that’s a good thing. It isn’t the healthiest thing I have eaten this week as my cholesterol is probably through the freaking roof, but I don’t really care. This is the one of the best sandwiches I’ve had to date. It puts my own home made grilled cheese sandwich to shame. No pun intended. And the soup? It was pretty good. I dipped both sandwiches into the soup and it tasted very hearty and it was a welcome addition to our lunch. A lot of people have griped about it being pricey for a small bowl but it didn’t really bother me. We had left overs after both sandwiches were done. Had we run out about halfway, maybe then I would have complained. All in all, it was an awesome experience at Melt. This is comfort food at it’s very best.

What is the hottest trend? Yes, just like the Bay Area, it’s food trucks… not just taco or shrimp trucks either. Reading other Unilocalers’ reviews of Melt, I signed up for their mailing list so I could stalk… I mean follow them. On a sunny Tuesday late morning, we found them conveniently parked just outside of the Sports Authority on Ward. Parking right behind him, we saw a small film crew working as three customers waited for their food. Everyone mentioned the pastrami melt, but today’s special was too tempting to pass on. I ordered the Duck Confit melt( ) for $ 10.00 and a side of Tomato Soup( ) for $ 2.00 while my friend ordered the Capicola( ), explained as a ham and cheese version using pork shoulder. My first bite made me curious about the mixture of flavors with small tomato cubes mixed with the shredded duck meat. The flavor and texture actually reminded me of Kalua Pork, appropriate for where we were. The soup reminded me of a Marinara sauce, more tart than sweet. Hope to try their burger version and eventually pastrami one too. In searching their website menu, I later read their caption under the soup, «for dipping»(I drank it while eating my sandwich). Sometimes, it pays to read the fine print, but it was pretty good the way it was. Not sure if I’d chase him around the island, but a definitely a nice change of pace from the lunch routine.

Ok Unilocalers, this local boy isn’t the type to be looking for trucks that travel from place to place, but because i was ONO for a GREASY, GOOEY, BUTTERY, Toasted Sandwich, i had to get on and find out where they were located. And with my luck, they were located on the Ward AvenuE location right in front of The Sports Authority. So here is my assessment of this Meal on Wheels. MENU: Very limited menu but very unique and straightforward. Not your run of the mill cheeses here. I like the fact that they use cheeses that i am not familar with, which keeps me in suspense… THETRIPLEMELT: Three types of cheeses here(Cave-aged Gruyère, Vermont Cheddar, and Dutch Gouda, i added sliced tomatoes for a dollar more) was just a WHAM, BAM, THANKYOUMAAM explosion of flavors coming out of this HOT, TOASTED, Sandwich. Everthing went well together with all the different kinds of cheeses and the juicyness of the tomatoes running through my mouth with sheer ecstacy. I love the facr fact that this sandwich was CRUNCHY, GREASY, and very, very MESSY. A great sandwich without a doubt. PASTRAMIMELT: This was the reason i came To this place, was for the Pastrami. I love Pastrami like you wouldn’t believe, and at MELT, they make one of the BEST Pastrami Sandwiches i have ever had on this island. It’s still hard to top the Pastrami Sandwiches i have had in New York, but having a sandwich of this caliber coming from a lunchwagon still boggles my mind. The Cave aged Gruyère Cheese and Pastrami were a match made in foodie heaven, and serving it with mustard on Toasted Rye made this an instant HIT for this foodie. GREASYGOODNESSINDEED!!! =9 TOMATOSOUP: This my friends, was the only DISAPPOINTMENT here. I don’t know if the soup is supposed to be this BLAND to compliment the sandwiches, but this soup lacked any flavor, or depth or anything at all. I should have used that 2 dollars to buy some vodka and salt and pour that soup right over a cup of ice to make a Bloody Mary because this soup in my eyes is a Bloody Mess. Sorry foodies, but that soup made me feel like i had lost my sense of taste from eating those PIPINGHOTSANDWICHES… NOSOUPFORME! =( OVERALL: I kind of like the idea of a place like this that uses unusual types of ingredients and innovative ideas to make a great sandwich, but i just think that a place like this is a one shot deal for me, but who knows, i may just go back for that MELTOFSHAME that everyone is talking about. The pricepoint aint so bad, but for the 2 sandwiches i had with the Tomato Soup(GROAN), i shelled out 17 bucks for lunch, whuch for me is ok considering i eat out quite often and am a sucker for great food. And i must warn you, if you are on a tight lunch break, it will take sometime for these sandwiches to be made. But that’s what i like, something that takes a while, because i truly know what type of sandwich i’m gonna get. But the next time i come here, im strictly coming here for the sandwiches and like the saying says«I SHOULD’VEHAD A V8!!!

Without Unilocal I would have never heard of this food truck and my sincere gratitude as always! So for the newbies and the Melt virgins this is how it works… they are a food truck that is not always parked in one specific area, they have you look them up online or follow them on twitter and they will let you know where they are that day. Our office already knew what we wanted that early morning so we had to get online and find out where they were gonna be that day. That day they were on University and S.King. We found them right in front of yogurtland and parked on the main street. They have four set sandwiches in there menu Triple melt– gruyère, gouda, cheddar on sourdough($ 6) Bacon Melt– cheddar, bacon and marinated tomatoes and onions($ 8) Pastrami Melt– gruyère, pastrami, mustard on rye($ 8) Harrisa Melt– gouda, pear, harissa on rye($ 7) Melt of Shame– hamburger between two grilled cheese sandwiches($ 11) Yes it is a challenge figuring out what to order but I love me some bacon! So that was easy for me especially with some marinated tomatoes and onions, I don’t think it could get any better! When I took a bite out of that melted gooey cheddar cheese exploding from the bread and juicy tomatoes is so heavenly! And they also have tomato soup for only $ 2.00! I know it might seem a little pricey for the such a small bowl but it is freaking delicious! It tasted like I was just drinking marinara sauce :) It went perfect with my Bacon Melt. I was a little bummed because we got there so early I couldn’t order the shake because it didn’t start running yet. well more of a reason for me to visit them again and also excited about them participating in the Street Grindz Rally!!!

I was glad to hear that they were in the university area since I go to UH anyway. I missed the first 2 times they were there so when I found that they came back I finally grabbed my opportunity. They were just setting up so at least i didnt have to wait too long. I got the triple melt which consisted of gouda, gruyère, and cheddar on sourdough since that was the«cheapest» at $ 6 whopping bucks! I understand that the cheeses are on the«gourmet» side but thats still a lot coming from a food truck. The sandwich was delicious, dont get me wrong, but i seriously dont see paying $ 6 for a cheese and bread. The turkey melt sounded good too but for $ 7…hmmm…idk. I’d really like to try more but running on a college budget i dont think its reasonable. Overall, id like to give it a 4 because the sandwich was good and toasted perfectly while not being too greasy but with the price -.5. Good concept though so thumbs up for that!

So today is Melt’s first day out of town. They are in Haleiwa today. I saw it and was dying to check it out since I’ve heard so much buzz about it on Facebook and Unilocal. I love bacon. I got the bacon melt(gruyère(?) cheese, bacon, apple sage jam, on whole wheat) for $ 8. Was it good? Yes. Was it phenomenal? Nah. Was it worth $ 8? No. Portion size: it was kind of on the smaller side. If I had all the ingredients and different cheeses, I could have cooked it. $ 8 is kind of steep for a grilled cheese sandwich I could have made. The whole wheat bread was the kind you buy from safeway– nothing special. It comes in a cute little carry-with-you paper pouch. The Triple looked like and old fashioned(a bit fancy) grilled cheese.(guyere, cheddar, gouda on sourdough), for $ 7. I might try that next, but all in all, I was satisfied, but not thrilled. Try it once, see if you like it, and decide if you want to move on. Follow them on twitter(@melthnl) to find out where they are. The website has the menu: . I think they’re only open from 11−2pm.

I really wanted to like it better but for now it’s in the Meh, it’s ok but it might be worth trying again. Maybe. So I guess that puts it at 2.5 stars rounding down until further notice. Saw the tweet that they were at the Akoko location so since I was going in that direction figured it was worth trying it out. When at that location, apparently the truck parks WAY in the back of the lot in the far back corner so you just have to look carefully; I sort of expected it on the side of the road. Got the bacon melt and it was ok. Oily as all heck, but it wasn’t like buttery yumminess but just more oily. The bacon was good and when you got into the inside of the melt it was ok but it was so hard to get over the fact that 1) it wheat bread and 2) it was a little burned and 3) most of the cheese wasn’t even melted! I think if they just used good ol’ fashioned unhealthy white bread, buttered it up and grilled it it would have been better. I don’t think I love cold hard cheese when I wanted it to just oooooze out of the melt. The few bites that had somewhat melted cheese was pretty decent. But those bites were few and far between. I think I would have loved the sandwich if they threw in a little fried egg too. Then I might want to go back. But I’m sorry, when I want a melt, I’m not thinking about eating healthy wheat bread. I just want goodness. Oh and I’m a ketchup lover and they have no ketchup packets. So overall, I think it’s a fun idea. It’s a little steep($ 8) for a melt but I think there’s hope for it but my experience was just so disappointing that I didn’t even want to finish my melt. Maybe I just had a bad experience. We’ll see. But yeah, when I don’t want to even finish food, that’s not a good sign.

I was really excited to try this place out since it was getting pretty popular on Unilocal but I think my expectations for this place were a little too high. I really wanted to try the bacon melt cause I’m a bacon whore but they didn’t have any that day so I ended up getting the triple cheese with a side of the tomato soup. The Gouda cheese was a bit too strong in my opinion and really overpowered the rest of the sandwich. The sandwich itself was a bit on the greasy side and needed to be dipped in the tomato soup to be tolerable. 3 stars for now maybe i’ll change my rating if I ever go again.

More like 2.5 stars. My friend and I wanted to try the bacon melt, but it wasn’t available today. We shared the triple melt instead. It was really rich and GREASY, so greasy that it seemed as if it were deep fried rather than grilled. I couldn’t even finish my half because it was so oily, and my stomach wasn’t too happy for the rest of the afternoon. Maybe I’m just not cut out for gourmet grilled cheese. :( On the plus side, I really liked the tomato soup.

I’m excited that we finally have a grilled cheese truck. Now Hawai’i is no stranger to food trucks(manapua man, plate lunch wagons,) so although the food truck craze is rising, Hawaiians just want good food wherever we can get it. Go ahead and sit on the curb. Melt is good stuff. I have yet to try the Melt of Shame which I hear is the best thing on the menu, but I will the next time I go. Here’s my verdict. Triple Melts all day long! Three cheeses on sourdough. Great! Tomato soup was a good sidekick as well. I wasn’t a fan of the bacon melt. The bacon could have been crispier and I didn’t like that onion jam inside. I say stick with the triple. The dime bag pickled veggies were interesting. They tasted good, but they weren’t a must have item. Skip the dime bag and get a second triple melt! Don’t compare the prices to what you pay to make it at home. You’re paying for convenience and quality ingredients. But if you craving grilled cheese and this truck is around stop by and order up!

Melt is a new lunch wagon that serves premium grilled cheese sandwiches. At the time of writing this they had their soft grand opening in front of FITTED to help celebrate that stores 5th year selling custom hats and clothing. They don’t know what their«permanent» location will be, but plan on touring Kona Street(near Fitted and V-Lounge) before moving over to the North Shore in Haleiwa. To commemorate the huge success of FITTED and the opening of MELT, they also released a collaboration t-shirt that included a free Triple Melt. It was the free Triple Melt that made me stay around and get hooked to this awesome new idea and twist on something so simple yet delicious. Alot of their ingredients look like they come from Whole Foods(I was snooping around the foot of the entrance to the truck and found some Whole Food grocery bags!). The ingredients also seem pretty exotic for a grilled cheese sandwich, «cave-aged gruyère, vermont cheddar, and dutch gouda» are the mainstays of cheese that they use in varying degrees for each sandwich. Not your run of the mill Krafts singles huh? THESANDWICHES: Because of the premium ingredients, you can expect to pay a premium price, for a sandwich, their cheapest«Triple Melt» will leave you craving a bit more on the average appetite and still burning a $ 5 hole to your wallet. The«Melt of Shame» however sounds like it will rock your world with a ¼ lb kuahiwi beef patty, melted between two grilled vermont cheddar sandwiches and sauteed onions. The $ 11 price tag will scare most people off, but if you’re looking for the most exotic grilled cheese sandwich on the island, you will have found it with this bad boy. I wanted to try it but I had already dropped $ 20 on my meal here. The«Bacon Melt» isn’t as cheesy as the Triple Melt, but the bacon and cheese mixture, was an orgasm for everything bad you could possibly digest from this place. It was oily, but it was good. It felt like a sinful pleasure. But at $ 8 for the size of this sandwich, I almost felt like how I feel after leaving a strip club… not fully satisfied. The«Tomato Soup» was described to me as… «marinara sauce» by my friend. I laughed off the thought because it made excellent dipping sauce for my Triple and complimented the cheese very well. But in reality, my friend wasn’t far from the truth. It was $ 2 though, so I didn’t feel like it should be premium soup. But be forewarned, it’s just there to act as a dipping sauce, not a meal on its own. The Slush, WOW… maybe it was the heat, but I downed this goodness after my first sandwich. In fact I downed it so fast, I can barely recall the exact flavors on my palette at that time, but I can tell you it was of a lilikoi variety I’m sure of it. It was good! But then again, I was dying of thirst, so this part of the review might be a bit biased. SUMMARY: It’s a boutique type of lunch wagon that serves premium and exotic grilled cheese sandwiches. You pay for what you get in terms of quality but not quantity; don’t assume you can cheap out and be full! I spent almost $ 20 and felt like a champ. Bigger brothas and sistahs out there might have to drop a bit more! Service? Can’t really comment on the service just yet, they were slammed when I went, apparently they have a huge Twitter following as well. It did take almost 15 minutes to get my order. But then again, on a non busy day this might be a different story.
