As someone in the food service industry, I absolutely think the portions at Kaimana Farm Café are appropriate to the cost of the items. If anything, with their use of eco-friendly takeout containers and integration of organically grown/local produce – they could charge more. I have only tried the power bento with pumpkin croquette – but I ate it twice in the past 12 hours because I loved it so. I stumbled across this adorable café, and could not have been more thrilled with the discovery. I love nourishing, health-conscious meals that offer a variety of unique vegetable sides and brown rice. Each of the power bento sides were delicious – the vermicelli with papaya, lotus root, hijiki, yuzu carrot, kale salad – it was most certainly the bento of my dreams. If you want large portions of unhealthy food, cooked thoughtlessly with zero consideration to the quality of ingredients – eat elsewhere.

Wanted this to be a good place but cool runny soufflé was Sent back and made warm runny again. Lots of air but walking in they were cleaning up the throw up outside. Bad omen. My wife had about four hours after eating and had slight food poisoning. Yup both ends. Suggest waiting a year to try again! My omelette was also runny and not flavorful so maybe the extra $ 2 for cheese should have been better. Grand looks but whipped omelette at Original house of pancakes is really good. Very High cost for counter ordering. Big nah.

Cute, small, little hole in the wall café. Came here for breakfast, and I really enjoyed the scenery and atmosphere of it.

Must get the yuzu iced tea! It tastes more like a yuzu lemonade, but I’m obsessed with yuzu so this was so yummy. Worth the $ 4.50. Other than that, it was just A-OK. My friend swears by this place so of course I had to try it out with him… tbh I was a little let down. It kind of reminds me of Cream Pot with the cute, homey ambiance and because it’s a Japanese influenced breakfast plate. I got the ahi tuna eggs benedict($ 11.80). It was kind of weird with the raw spinach scattered about the plate, and the ahi was seared and cut in thick rectangles that hardly covered the egg. I think the meat should be more proportionate to the size of the english muffin or egg so that you can eat it with everything else. Not to mention it was very salty. I do like that you get to pick a «deli» item. I picked the lotus, and they also had cauliflower, and hijiki. My friend said the soufflé omelette with tomato risotto is definitely a winner. He also got the pork belly benedict which I thought was better than mine, so maybe I just struck out this time. The table next to us had some pretty tasty looking french toast, so when I return I’ll have to try something else because their menu does offer a lot of delicious looking items. Parking is scarce but I recommend you try Safeway if you can’t find anything.

Aloha everyone! I am updating my review for Kaimana Farm Café. During my first visit, I really did not like my food. I was not a fan of the airy soufflé omelette that everyone raved about. I enjoy a burst of various flavors. I decided to try the Kaimana Power Bento. I’m glad I did! It was simply AMAZING. For about $ 12 I got a huge plate with potato croquette, brown rice, and 5 different vegetables. This plate is customizable! Unfortunately, I do not remember the specific names of each vegetable but I can give you a sneak peak at my plate. If you want to love your veggies but you don’t know how, come down to Kaimana Farm Café and try the power bento! The flavors will amaze you. I honestly can’t wait to go back!

Came here today for lunch with one of my gfs and it was soo good! I’m not a very healthy person and I don’t care for the taste of healthy food so if I think it’s good, it’s saying a lot lol! When we came there was no line and plenty of open tables. Parking is in the back by the shave ice store but I parked at safeway and walked over(I’m not sure if you’re supposed to do that but in my defense, I also shopped at safeway before I headed over lol) I had the chicken bento thing where you can choose 5 deli veggies. Everything was sooo delicious! Service was good also. I will be coming back very soon!

What a cute and small restaurant I never noticed before. I’ve been seeing food photos here on instagram quite often. One of my friend came to visit from NY and thought we can all get together at this breakfast place. Finally, a reason to come here. We came on a Saturday morning and it wasn’t too busy. We walked in and she told us to sit anywhere. We got our menus and looked at what’s good. After deciding we went up to the register to order and pay. I ordered the today’s soup and quiche: it came with a veggie quiche, raspberry toasted bread, salad, a side: brown rice quinoa, and soup(I think it was Alfredo mushroom soup). My friends got ahi benedict, soufflé omelete, and spam benedict. All dishes came with a side of their choice. I actually wasn’t impressed by my dish. The quiche and soup dish tasted okay. The benedicts were simple, a slice of ahi tataki on top of a benedict, same with the spam. It tasted okay, nothing special. One thing that I should have gotten was the omelette soufflé. I tried my friend’s one and it was sooo good. The egg was fluffy and soft. The rice was mixed in tomato sauce and I loved it. I think I’ll get that next time I come here. It’s a healthy Japanese restaurant to enjoy breakfast. You’ll love it here if you love to be healthy. The meal is very light, nothing heavy. Parking seems small. You can try park at Safeway… shhhhh.

Came here for breakfast today. They have a strange set up and it is small and cramped. Even though they had five or so employees in a 20×10 foot space(think small studio), none of them serve you or provide water for your table. You have to seat yourself, get your own water, and order from a counter(just wondering… what are they paying all these workers to do?). The seating situation is horrible, and you are pretty much elbow to elbow with other dining parties. Now for the real bad… my wife and I came here and were pretty excited at the menu options. We decided to get the salmon benedict and the bagel, lox, and cream cheese. Then, when I get up to order, I’m told that they are out of salmon. Huge bummer! I then go back up to the counter and order the ahi eggs benedict and the quiche(which comes with soup, salad, bread, and a «deli» side(BTW, the«DELI» side should be called: teeny, weeny, itsy-bitsy, «has nothing to with an actual deli» side instead). These little Costco sample size side dishes are truly ridiculous and insultingly small. Moving on, we sit down and wait for our food. After 10 minutes they bring out the ahi benedict and proceed to tell me they don’t have the ingredients to make the quiche. What! Hold on. This place is right across the street(literally) from Safeway… couldn’t they just hit up the supermarket if they were out of something? Well, I ended up not ordering anything since my wife was already finished with her food. Sad. I won’t be returning to this crappy little«wanna be hip and cute» restaurant and predict that it will be going belly up in about 6 months or so… as with most of the eateries on Kapahulu… especially considering how bad it was here.

So I have been here a couple times with the boyfriend and I say it’s worth a try! We love it! Pros: great staff/service, relaxed atmosphere, great food! Cons: parking maybe, and the café is kind of small so there is limited seating inside unless you come during off hours. — — - Our favorite dish is the Organic Kale Eggs Benedict(no tomatoes please!) with the Lotus root side dish. Whatever they dress their kale in is delicious! The greens are tender, and the pecans give it a nice crunch while the dried cranberries add a little sweetness. One of my eggs was slightly less runny than I wanted, but still very tasty! The lotus root side dish is flavorful and packed with edamame, corn, carrots, and a little bit of hijiki. Delicious and slightly crunchy, it pairs really well with the dish! Everything tasted fresh too. I’ve had the omlette soufflé with the cheese, and it was an experience. The eggs were light and fluffy like clouds. I found the risotto to be slightly salty, but still tasty. Kale eggs benedict is definitely my favorite! Try it! Portion size: I have found that the portion of kale eggs benedict was a good size. I was full but not so full as to feel sluggish. Some people may need an extra little muffin or something(they looked yummy!) afterwards, but I thought the portioning was right. Drinks: the boyfriend loves their organic iced tea while I am obsessed with their iced yuzu tea. Slightly sweet and citrusy. Perfect for me and worth a try in my opinion if you want something refreshing. I do want to try their smoothies next time though! Cost: a little on the pricey side I guess, but it is all local fresh ingredients so I don’t mind at all. I think the prices are comparable to most other food places that offer similar dishes without even giving you fresh local ingredients! So I have no issues with the price so much. Overall: Recommended!!! The staff is always wonderfully pleasant and the food is consistently good so far. I will definitely be going back and hope you give it a try too!

Nice place for meeting up with friends for a weekend breakfast! We went on a Saturday morning and the place wasn’t too busy, which was nice. I had the acai bowl, which had a beautiful presentation. My friend enjoyed the soufflé, which she shared. This dish was airy, yet rich, so it was very confusing to my palate, but delicious! A definite winner! The décor and ambiance was soothing and relaxing, not loud like some brekkie places. Great coffee options as well. Parking is limited, so be sure to plan accordingly.

Like many reviews, I really wanted to love this place but I just didn’t. The decorations and ambiance were everything my girl at heart dreamed of and the service was great. We went around lunch time and there was ample table space. The portions, however, were not what I completely expected according to price. The açai bowl was delicious but left feeling like i hadn’t had enough. The salmon bagel sandwich was okay but not great and I almost felt obligated to eat everything on the plate because of what I payed for it. It might be that I’m just a big eater but for my personal expectations, I wanted more. Side note, the only parking we managed was across the street at Safeway. Not sure if that was legal but it worked out anyway!

Love this place. Japanese brunch influenced. Worth a trip for the ‘at-home’ feel and causal environment. Order and sit down style with a ‘help-yourself’ water station.

I finally made my way to check out Kaimana Farm Café! I have been eyeing this place out for awhile, but just never had the time to come. Kaimana Farm Café is located on Kapahulu Ave, across the street of Safeway. Although we are probably not suppose to, we ended up parking at Safeway and just crossing the street over to go to Kaimana Farm. ;) I love the ambiance here, its super cute, cozy and homey! The venue can sit about 10 – 15 people. The Grub. [[ OMELETSOUFFLE $ 11.80 ]] Wow this was a very tasty dish. I never had eggs so fluffy and light. It tasted wonderful with the tomator cream risotto. [[ SALMONBENEDICT $ 11.80 ]] This bene comes with a poached egg on top of smoked salmon over baby spinach and drizzed with hollandaise sauce. This was good, but I’m more of a classic Benedict kind of girl :)

**Cozy Café** Honolulu, HI *Near Leonards and Waiola Shave Ice* I really like this place and would not mind coming here again. I mean, it is walking distance from my mom’s place. Cons: **Parking — In the back but a tiny parking lot, look for the sign. **Location — Across Safeway, not a lot of foot traffic at all. **Price — It’s not exactly fast food but the ingredients are fresh and local. $$ **Hours — 8am — 4pm. Likes: ~*Cozy — It’s not too busy at all. I hope they don’t close down. ~*Food — Not a big menu which I like, they focus on quality. They do have a variety of items, from local drip coffee, bagel sandwiches, french toast(yum), Eggs Benedict, Acai bowls, smoothies, juices, deli sandwiches, pork ginger steak, lunch specials, salads, they have a variety of different coffees. ~*Thank you to Auntie Nadine C. for asking to meet here with my mom! Sweet to treat for lunch! After that we went to Waiola Shave Ice and then to Leonards! Auntie Nadine and her Unilocal adventures. I gained 10 lbs ;( Let’s go again!!! :) Thanks for reading! ~*kenzie*~

Cozy. Homey. Charming décor. Good food. Great selection of drinks. What else could you want? Logistics: park in the lot next to Waiola, at Kaimana Acupuncture. Order at the counter. Water is near the door. Staff was friendly. And the food came out fast. Local ingredients. Food: Breakfast is served all day! Take that McDonalds! Smoked Salmon eggs benedict: Great option. Good portion size. Silky, smooth salmon but we wanted more! The ingredients were fresh and the sauce was tasty. Soufflé omelet: Risotto was tasty and had good texture. Mozzarella stretched nice — just as I like it. The egg tasted just like a soufflé — airy, fluffy and almost guilt free! Overall, this is a solid place and a great addition to the Honolulu breakfast scene.

3.5 stars. Pros: 1) Friendly hostesses 2) Cute décor 3) Short-to-no wait for a table Cons: 1) So-so food 2) Parking Kaimana café locally sources it’s produce. They are Japanese-owned and the décor is very bucolic. We were warmly greeted by a few hostesses in the front dressed in the most adorable Halloween costumes and ordered at the front. After, we chose our seats and waited for the food to arrive. The food arrived quickly. We ordered the ahi eggs benedict and soufflé omelette and unfortunately, there were some trouble spots. For the benedict, the eggs were nearly cooked through so it wasn’t as runny as it was supposed to be. If you take a look at my photo, you can see spinach randomly scattered on my plate. There was no dressing or seasoning for this and without runny eggs, I basically was eating raw spinach. And for the signature dish, the soufflé, I found this to be an acquired taste. Do not be mistaken: it is not just a fluffy omelette; it is foamy and mousse-like. I did not like the texture or taste at all, but based on the number of people ordering that dish, I may be in the minority there. A few bright spots: the veggie sides were tasty and my green tea latte was wonderful! Not too sweet with a strong matcha flavor! This was only my first visit and I would like to give this place a second chance. If you happen to be in the area craving breakfast food and the wait at Kaila’s or Sweet-E’s is too long, stop by Kaimana!

I think this place has good potential. I liked it but didn’t love it. Not yet, anyway. We wanted to try a new place where we could bring our doggie and it seemed that Kaimana Farm Café had some outdoor seating and got good reviews from other Unilocalers. So we popped in for lunch on a Sunday at around noon. Parking was behind the building in a dedicated lot. The staff was super friendly and immediately asked if we wanted a bowl of water for our pooch. Excellent question, and most appreciated. The girl brought it out to us at our table outside right away. I ordered the portobello salad and my husband got the bento with potato croquette. I liked my salad well enough, although I think the blue cheese was a bit overpowering and shaved parmiggiano cheese would have been better. The mushroom was grilled, cut into slices, and placed on top of baby spinach leaves. There were nice edamame and other beans in the salad along with some quinoa. It was good. Hubby loved his order. He got brown rice and a choice of five sides with his bento: Brussel sprouts, carrots, lotus root, papaya noodles(name escapes me), and hijiki. He also got an iced tea that was citrus flavored. I think it was called yuzi iced tea. I also ordered a very tasty orange muffin that had a nice glaze on top. We shared this while waiting for our meals. I got a coffee and thought it was really good. Note from our photos that they also served it in a nice large ceramic cup. Serving me coffee in a paper or styrofoam cup(if you are not Starbucks) really irritates me so I was very pleased to see that they use actual ceramic coffee cups. The coffee cost over $ 3 so I was glad she asked me if I wanted a refill. We spent $ 35 + tip on our lunch and it was pretty good. There are a couple of things, however, I think could improve. The street has a lot of traffic and so the outdoor area should be swept clean of debris and the window sill adjacent to the table we sat at was filthy. I wanted to set my glass on it to make room on the tiny table, but it was black with dirt. They are doing a lot of things right so we are going to give it another try. I just want to sit inside next time.

Overall impression: Quaint, cool little place with rustic ambience and healthy food that tastes great! Highly recommend you come here. Average price: ~$ 12−15/meal Positives: –outstanding ambience –healthy –the servers are really nice –the food is delicious –unique. Blend of japanese and American rustic. –serves breakfast and lunch all day Negatives: –parking is a bit out of the way/difficult –on the pricier side but good value for what you get! –the style of how you pay sort of prompts you to tip in advance. But you don’t have to do that. Just leave money at the table. Unfortunately if you do it that way though, you can’t tip through credit card. Ambience: 5 stars This really makes the place what it is. In fact, it was the reason we came in the first place. My wife noticed the storefront with the wooden tables and mason jars with fresh fern leaves and wanted to go eat there. Well, the inside is even better! They have beautiful wooden farm tables, chandeliers, more mason jars with ferns, a glass water pitcher with slices of fruit in it, antique items all around, and best of all, there’s air conditioning! That’s right, you get all this outdoorsey rustic stuff with nice, cool indoor breeze. It was awesome. Value: 4 stars It’s pricey but for the type of food that you’re getting(healthy, organic, delicious) it’s actually a pretty good deal. I was definitely filled when I finished my meal and I felt much better afterward than if I had eaten some large, greasy meal. Taste: 4.5 stars Absolutely delicious! I loved my kale salad and the regular salad they gave us. My wife’s soufflé was very good and my potato/egg skillet was bomb! The iced café mocha was a perfect way to top it all off. Probably a bit sweet for most people but I tend to like really sweet drinks. My wife and I were both impressed by the way they blended japanese dishes with the rustic, healthy foods like kale and potatoes. Service: 5 stars Well, we came on a Saturday morning at about 730⁄8 and there was no one else there but us so we probably got a lot more attention than others have but they sure did treat us well! The food came very fast. The water is self-serve, which I liked. The server kept checking in with us to make sure we were satisfied and doing okay. Towards the end of our meal, another couple came in, but we were still treated well while they were there.

We first came here because it is right down the street from us; just a short walk. It opened a little past its sign time but not that bad. When you enter, it’s pretty spacious. It’s décor is a handmade shabby chic. I gave this place 5 stars trying very hard to find ways to lessen the rating. Let me say this, it is kind of self serve and the faire is a HEALTHY alternative to all the breakfast places out there. The food, to me, outweighs any limitation this place has. You seat yourself after you order at the counter. The coffee is soso. You can order from the full menu at any time. Except for the hamburger steak is only available on Saturday or Sunday. They take reservations only on weekdays. The owner is Junko from LA. She says she might put into the Japanese tourist books. So come to this place when it’s not crowded and hard to get a seat. The cost is very reasonable. Darcie always like to eat salmon lox. Their’s is pretty good. I always eat the dijon chicken with brown rice and five sides. My sides are usually a mixture but include hijkik, brussel sprouts, fruits and two more of the ever new.
