My son has been going to Kahala Barbers for 8 years now and has been seeing Phi. He likes how she cuts his hair with precision and confidence. Now I see Phi as I noticed that she does good job with women’s haircut. She always makes time for me. Good customer service. So now I bring my sister and mother to Kahala Barber.

Yesterday I got only my second haircut with Ivan(?) at Kahala Barber Shop. He did a good job because my wife loves my hair … again. I paid $ 20 in cash with tip versus $ 25 I used to pay at Ala Moana Mall. And it’s closer to home, too. The ambience is a little funky but Ivan was good. I hope this helps.

This barber shop has pretty much stayed the same as it was back in the day. Price is still cheaper than your typical haircut place. If you’re not used to the barber shop style this may not be your type of place.

Kahala Barbers is a place where the old way of cutting hair is preserved. The base price is $ 15.25. Although it is rather expensive, the emphasis is on the quick service, and that extra layer of caring that the barbers use. The barbers(depending on which one you get) use the old barber’s knife and cream. It leaves a clean cut. Each barber has a level of care and I would recommend this place for that layer of caring. The place only takes cash so a future patron has to be aware of that.

This is where I get my hair cut mainly because Ivan works here. He does a good job and has been cutting my hair for about 5 years already.

Oh man. I’d avoid here. I haven’t been here for years now. The last time I went, I had a heavier local guy and he mangled my hair. I always do a simple haircut and I’m not picky, but after I left here. I looked in the mirror and called my aunty on the way home. She worked at a salon for many years in a past life and wasn’t cutting hair anymore, but I begged her to please fix my haircut. She got her old scissors and stuff out of storage and had to basically shave my head so I didn’t have patches of missing uneven hair. The older Japanese ladies were mostly okay here, but some are better than the rest. The inconsistency isn’t something I want to deal with so I switched to another barber.

I think most clientele seeking haircuts from here are outside the Unilocaling demographic, but to me, this place, and my barber Ivan in particular, deserve five stars. I called while on my lunch break to see if he could cut my hair(as he had in the past to my satisfaction) when I got off work a half hour after he usually goes home. He waited for my disgruntled butt and proceeded to give me exactly the cut I wanted with focus and care without any end-of-the-day-attitude. This positive review is also coming after a comparatively low-quality experience at highly-rated A’s on King st. Obviously a good cut friends on the cutter, but give this place a try, especially if you’re a bradda. I think all da old folks been keeping it a secret ;-)

It’s the only hair place my husband will go to. They give a head massage too!

No!!! Don’t do it, I took both my boys to get their haircut, they went to two different ladies and they both failed! 1 had crooked hair in front n back n the other didn’t look like he got a hair cut. $ 31 for two bad haircuts for a 4 k 5 year old. Boo.

Worst barber ever! Went in to get my hair cut. It’s pretty much bald and the guy did such a bad job I’m sure I could’ve cut it better myself. Lots of longer hairs and they don’t shave or line it. This cost around 15 bucks. Totally not worth going to. Had to go to my usual to have her fix it. No good barber in Kahala…

My grandpa and I driving around Pi’ikoi, Pensacola area and WADDAYA know, Fantastic Sam’s had«Grand Opening» sign wavers, doing there thing. Well, they were talking on their cell phone, sitting down, less than enthusiastically, holding the sign. BUTBUTBUT, they got the light bulb to go off in my grandpa’s head, «Hey, I need a haircut.» I’m thinking, cool, I’ll turn in. «NO, NO, NO », he says. «I gotta go to my hairdresser in Kahala.» Boy was he disappointed. She was in Las Vegas, just like the last time I brought him here and the time before that. I’m beginning to think she’s a figment of his imagination. He definitely was looking forward to the asian mama, hair cut special. Sorry Grandpa, no head massage-gee for you. He got stuck with an ‘ol filipino geezer guy, giving him an awkward side combover 50’s do. Turning my studly gramps into a hot mess. It was like taking a kid to disneyland for the first time, and finding out Mickey and his pals got sick with the flu. Awww, pua ting. We should’ve went to Sams, they’re fantastic.
