I am a believer and you should be too. Joy is … amazing. Just … ugh, no words. I wanted to go short for quite some time now but wasn’t completely confident in my decision. I had shorter hair once before and was told I looked like an old mom (I was 18 with no kids so you can imagine my horror). Its been six years since going short and I was so over my long locks. I knew I had to see someone amazing to give me the short hair that I’ve always wanted — minus the old mom look. Joy restored my faith back into rocking short hair. She takes the time to assess your hair, see how it falls, feels/​looks at the texture — just amazing amazing work. Joy is awesome! I’ve been seeing her monthly for almost a year now and she’s beautifies my hair like no other. It’s really hard to maintain red hair… especially if you’re a pale Asian girl… But she makes it manageable by darkening up my roots. I absolutely love the curls she gives me after she’s done with the color and wash… she Definitely knows how to work that curling iron! I tried curling my own hair to match her style but that was a huge and miserable fail. And to top it all off. She usually gives me wine everytime I visit as well… which is a huge bonus if you’re a borderline alcoholic like me ;) joy is definitely the hairstylist you wanna go to!

I am so grateful to have found Joy — she helped me find the perfect solution for my «transitional» look.
Since I will be globe trotting for several months and didn’t want to hassle finding a salon every few weeks to color my hair, I made the difficult decision to stop coloring it. Not only was it difficult, I was nearly in tears several times while sitting in the chair, watching my locks falling to the floor, changing from dark to white… I’m not ready to look like my mom with the same short cut!
Scissors down, and the pomade came out… the magical transformation took place!
Not only did Joy style the perfect cut and shape for my hair, she showed me how to style it in a contemporary look that makes me feel GREAT!

Love Joy, she is amazing! I’ve been going to Joy for about 6 yrs and every time I leave, I love how my hair looks. Joy knows hair… taking into account texture, which way your hair falls, and the amount of hair you have. She does wonders with color and hair cuts.
I would highly recommend Joy, you won’t be disappointed.

literally best stylist on island!!! I had the hardest time finding a good stylist after moving from Southern CA. JOY IS IT! She can do everything and knows how to work on naturally blonde hair… bangs? sure! layers? sure! highlights? YES! She does it all!!! Take it from a girl who comes from the MECCA of hairdressers… Joy is AMAZING!

Joy always manages to give me fun, vibrant hair! She really takes her time to make sure your color or cut really suits you. She keeps my red hair vibrant and rich. She also gives a wonderful shoulder massage! Not to mention, she is really fun to chat with while she works her magic. Thanks Joy!

Joy is without a doubt the best hair stylist on the island. She consistently keeps my blonde hair bright and multi-​dimensional. From cut to color to Brazilian blowouts, Joy is the best there is. Not to mention the fact that she is super sweet and easy to talk to. I highly recommend going to see her. You will leave wondering how you ever survived without her!

Best stylist on the Island — hands down!
It so nerve racking to move to a new state and find a quality stylist. Joy is a GODSEND. Why? I have pin straight fine hair that shows every cut and it takes a skilled stylist to create natural volume with my fine hair.
Now onto color. My once natural blonde is now naturally blah brownish. Joy colors my hair in the most gorgeous, natural, light blonde. Shiny, blonde, gorgeous. I LOVE IT and I continuously get compliments.
Honestly, I can’t say enough — she’s meticulous and CONSISTENTLY gives a fantastic cut and color and I’ve had over a dozen cut/​colors with Joy.

Joy is very nice, professional & SKILLED! She’s been in the industry for a long time & has many yrs. of not only experience but education when it comes to hair. She’s very «up to date» & always amazes me with my cut & color… LOVE her work! I recommend her to everyone :)

I have that odd mix of slightly curly, slightly frizzy hair and have always struggled with getting the right cut. I have tried straight perms, flat ironing etc. and no matter how my hair is cut, it used to always take me forever to get it to look right so most of the time my hair was pulled back in a pony tail.
THEN I MET JOY!!! Wow. How do I start? She cut and highlighted my hair and she is amazing. For the first time, someone actually cut my hair in a way that I don’t have to use multiple styling products to get it to look good. I have long hair and now I just blow dry my hair and it just falls into place. She really takes into account how your hair falls naturally and cuts it to enhance what nature gave you.
I highly recommend her for both cut and color. She gave me some subtle highlights that really show off the layered cut that she gave me. I just went in again to have her give me some bangs and again… amazing cut. Love my new bangs, they just fall into place and I keep getting compliments on my new cut:)
Joy also really listens to what you want and what kind of issues you have with your hair.
Bonus…she also gives you a great shoulder massage:) I always feel like a new and improved woman every time I see her.
Parking is easy at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Park on the mall level and you can just walk across the parking lot into the entrance of the building.

Best haircut I’ve had since moving to Hawaii 3 years ago! I went to Joy for a haircut and color after seeing the cute cut my co-worker’s wife debuted. She said Joy has been cutting her hair for 8 years, so I decided to try her out. Joy was super friendly and took time to have a hair consultation to look at the pictures I brought and listen to my hair saga story. After agreeing on what would work best for my hair, she offered me a cocktail! Then she started to work her magic and she transformed my drab do into a Super Cute Stylish cut. One of the ladies in the salon said «Wow! What a transformation!» And I have never had so many people compliment me on my haircut. I am so happy I found Joy and would recommended her to anyone.

I came in not knowing what I wanted to do and I walked out impressed and over joyed (no pun intended). She really knows how to assess any situation and gives you several options. I allowed her to work her magic; I told her I would trust her judgement. It came out better than I expected. From the time I walked in the door till the time I left, it was an experience that I had not had (and I’ve been around). Her energy is uplifting and makes any grey day turn bright and cheerful.
