My girlfriend and I were excited to eat here after a long day at the beach. We were seated by a kind gent and given our menus. We looked at them, but the girlfriends was set on the grilled salmon. However, we were informed by a manager that they were out of the salmon. We were a bit sad, but took another look at the menu and settled on the chicken and some other items. When the waitress took our order, she informed me they were out of chicken as well. I thought she was pulling my leg after the salmon incident, but she was totally serious. We are now heading to rainbows to get some good food.

My coworkers and I were attending a conference at the Hyatt and decided to have lunch here. We came here at the perfect time because it was not busy at all(there was us and one more party). The four of us happened to order the same thing, the Jinroku special okonomiyaki. The food was made quickly, and it was delicious. We all ate everything on our plate. My biggest complaint is the service. From the start, the server didn’t seem so friendly. He even seemed irritated when we asked for his recommendations. I did think for a moment that maybe he’s not too bad because he did ask if we wanted separate checks. But, as the server walked away, we heard him say in Japanese(yes, we are local but understand some Japanese) «What a pain». First of all, he offered. Why ask if we want separate checks if he didn’t want to do it in the first place.

Loved the negiyaki! Loved the teppanyaki. Loved the crazy chef and his crew behind the counter. All of the staff were wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. If I lived in Waikiki I would be there ALLTHETIME. They would get sick of me, but I would never get sick of the yummy delicious food.

We went there for lunch. Food was not that great. Service was even worse… Everything I ordered was not available! And it took 35 mins to get a fried rice dish.

Jinroku locates right next to the hotel I lived. So my bf and I decided to give it a try and it was amazing. We got there early right after their open time, around 5:45pm. Waitress checked the schedule for few minutes and we got a table that had later reservation. We ordered seafood combo, daikon salad, beef okonomiyaki and beef tendon. Daikon salad was ok, a little bit too salty to me and seafood combo wasn’t as much as I thought for the price. But the okonomiyaki was awesome, it took 25 mins to make but definitely worth the waiting. Beef tendon was only small bowl but was so tasty. And the end we wanted to order milk pudding but they are out of it. Would like to go back for the pudding, maybe soba too. The waiter and waitress were really nice and one of the waiter can speak Japanese, Chinese and English which is very impressive.

The food is okay. Service was slow and the server seemed confused. We ordered the grilled ahi with grilled veggies, garlic shrimp, and seafood salad. Grilled ahi 3⁄5: the fish was unbelievably fresh but the sauces accompanying it were not great. The fish was lacking a little bit of salt. Garlic shrimp 4⁄5: good but not great. 4 large shrimp for $ 10 is pretty pricey. We ordered this because they ran out of beef tongue for the night. Seafood salad 3⁄5: it’s just a bunch of grilled seafood over a bed of lettuce.

They have a vegetarian course which comes with an appetizer, grilled vegetables, tofu steak, mushroom okonomiyaki(or yakisoba), and desert. Everything tastes great and only for $ 30! We also ordered seafood grill and another okonomiyaki. They grilled a lot of things and was a plenty of food. The okonomiyakis were thick with fluffy egg and not too doughy like ordinary stuff. They were excellent. There are tables in front of teppan with open air, which is nice. There seem some zashiki type private rooms in the back.

My first time having okonomiyaki and I’m glad I did. We were one of the few non-Japanese guests. It was easy to make a reservation the day of and it was packed when I got there at 6:30 so I’m glad I did. Dessert of milk pudding was really interesting and delicious. The whole meal was $ 67 for 7 people which was one of the better dining value experiences I’ve ever had.

Food is good but service is NOT. The manager is not friendly, at all. Maybe because we are not Japanese?

What a great little restaurant! Tucked away just off the main strip, this place is quite small but super friendly. I ordered the gyoza Naki pancake(I could have had ten — so good) and the mixed negi yaki which was great but nothing could top that starter! Was pretty cool to watch them make the pancakes right in front of you in their open kitchen. Though due to the heat this place might not be too good in summer(I went in early December and it was still very hot!) Great service and were happy to answer questions about the menu and the differences between all the different pancakes.

Walked by every morning walking Waikiki and had to try. Jared our waiter extremely knowledgable. We are adventurous eaters and wanted to try the specialties. His recommendations were right on. It’s kind a little teppanyaki but all fresh seafood and meat. Plus the okonomiyaki(Japanese pancakes) truly amazing. Great local place. Tako yaki

Don’t know if it’s because we came 20 mins before they closed for lunch at 2pm but the waiter was not friendly. Food is is rock solid. Been here many times. Love it. Too bad they didn’t serve octopus balls during lunch. Some other helpers claim they do so not sure if they just didn’t want to serve it as they’re closing. If that’s the case that’s jacked up. Will come back again before we leave.

Jinroku Pacific is the Oahu outpost of a Japanese restaurant which serves the deliciousness of the Okonomiyaki-style cabbage” pancake from the Kansai region of Japan. The restaurant has a stylish-on-a-budget interior with stainless steel, funky, hip orange plastic seats, a mirrored bar, and an open kitchen where you can watch three or four chefs preparing the goods. And the goods are great here. They’ll try to upsell you to the $ 50+ dishes. But just get an appetizer, some soba noodles and an Okonomiyaki and two people can be be full for just $ 40. Loved the garlic scallops, which were perfectly cooked. Yaki Soba noodles were delish. We had the Seafood Tama Okonomiyaki and it amazed. I’m new to the dishes, so I may not be the best critic. But I’d love to eat here again next time I visit Waikiki.

My friend really wanted okonomiyaki, so I Unilocaled, and I found this place with good reviews. Jinroku is a Japanese, teppanyaki style restaurant. It’s located near Café Musubi Iyasume. When we walked in they asked if we had reservations. We didn’t make any, but there were a lot of empty tables. Some were reserved and some were not. They seem hesitant to seat us. Ok, whatever. They eventually decided to seat us inside the couchy dining area. The waiter came and greeted us and like any other Waikiki restaurants, the waiter started asking us if we were from here. Then he started guessing our ethnicity because he has a similar ethnicity as us I guess. Anyways, he introduced us to their menu and said the dishes are family style and big portions. After the waiter walked away we decided what we want to get. Then another waitress who was new came up to us to take our order. We ordered the kinako mushroom okonomiyaki, tako negiyaki, and the mixed yaki udon(shrimp, tako, pork). The waitress said it wouldn’t be enough for the 5 of us because the dishes are small. We were confused because the other waiter said the dishes are big and are family style. Two servers saying different things… okay wtheck. When the dishes came, it was small. We just thought after eating all of it, if we aren’t full we rather go to musubi iyasume for onigiri instead. So the food was decent. It was pretty good. It was definitely not enough. The price is expensive for a small plate. But to be expected at Waikiki. Service was okay. They don’t seem very attentive. We waited awhile for our check. Water wasn’t refilled till it was gone. They seemed like they ignored us a lot. Not really a satisfying meal. Poopy.

Don’t forget that it takes 25 minutes for their signature Okonomiyaki. Order an appetizer to start with if you’re hungry. Takoyaki is my go-to«to try» item if a place has it – and the one here is great. Fresh and hot, it isn’t overpowered by toppings since they’re placed on the side. Bar is messy and cluttered with junk(towels, receipts, scotch brite, boxes, a rubix cube – is this their storage space?) and their drink menu lacks detail to make the«full bar» worth it. We saw a specialty drink on Unilocal, and they said they didn’t make it anymore. Needless to say, no one in my party ordered a drink. First thing that came out was my friend’s Mixed Negi and it was pretty tiny… It had a nice smoky flavor but other than that could have used a bit more. Once the Okonomiyaki finally arrived, my other friends and I were eager to see what this was all about. Fair warning to all you ginger haters – ALL of our meals had a good amount of pink ginger in there. Ask your server if you’re not sure because it wasn’t stated in the menu. Good news is, the Okonomiyaki is definitely their signature dish for a reason. Definitely enjoyed my meal, though it did take a while. Ultimately, I think Jinroku is «A-OK,» so three stars it goes. As a visitor to Honolulu, I was looking for some great local food, but this felt more like a spot for locals who want something a little different.

Good Evening Unilocalers, My girlfriend and I were on the hunt for some good Okonomiyaki tonight. We were a sad, 0 — 2 tonight, and this place was not a pleasant end to the night. As we walked through the doors, we were greeted friendly and sat immediately. We ordered the Buta Kimchee Okonomiyaki(Pork Kimchee) and the Gyoza Yaki. This place is pricey for such a basic/complimentary entrée. As in it probably cost a couple dollars to make a plate and they charge $ 15. The Buta Kimchee had The Thinnest, literally paper thin, piece of pork that you could barely taste or see. And the Gyoza Yaki was literally the grounded up gyoza pan fried into a pancake. Service wasn’t that great either. I mean yeah they filled waters regularly but was not friendly at all. They just tried to hard to be fancy but the staff was kind of all over the place. I apologize if this offends anyone, but it is my honest review. The other entrees might have been good, but I will never know. #whatashame

We dined here our last night in Oahu. It was walking distance from the Waikiki Banyan. There was no wait when we arrived around 5:30pm. We were seated in the back. We ordered the: Seafood okonomiyaki: 4⁄5 interesting texture, portions were on the smaller side, but overall very tasty. Garlic soba: 5⁄5 great flavor, came with squid, shrimp, pork, garlic. My toddler loved it too. Pudding with syrup pudding: 4⁄5 good texture, reminded me of the pudding they put in milk tea boba drinks. We made the mistake of ordering only one. It was gone in no time. Order one per person. Service was good. Food was tasty. Total came out to $ 41+tip.

Located on the side of the Aqua Pacific Monarch Hotel, Jinroku is located deep in Waikiki between Uluniu and Prince Edward Street about a block away from Hy’s Steakhouse. We visit this Japanese restaurant when we stay in Waikiki so we don’t have to deal with the hassle of parking. This place is great for a group dinner and is family friendly. Service here is excellent. While we haven’t yet tried the teppanyaki, it looks delicious. We just love the okonomiyaki here. For those of you that don’t know, okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake filled with a variety of ingredients. We’ve tried the seafood and the beef one. Both are delicious but I prefer the seafood one. We also had the jinroku potato and of course the yummy takoyaki. The kids loved the yakisoba. So much that we probably should have ordered them one each. For dessert, we shared the shiratama azuki(similar to zenzai and they make the mochi fresh) and the milk pudding. The shiratama azuki was okay, but the milk pudding with the kuromitsu syrup was excellent! A great choice for dinner especially when you are craving some delicious okonomiyaki!

Came here with a friend for lunch. Walked out with a huge smile on my face. The reason was because of the people who worked here. They were friendly and cool to talk to without being overbearing and without triggering my «are you doing this because of some hidden agenda» alarm. They asked us where we were from, chatted with us about the holidays, recommended things to do, etc. I noticed they remembered a lot of their regulars and their orders when they walked in. They made the family sitting next to us(with kids) feel really comfortable as well and even paid special attention to the kids. Ultimately, when you walk into a place, it doesn’t get much better knowing that the people who work in the restaurant take care of their patrons. And that’s the reason why I wanted to leave a review. But of course, now that I’m here, I should say some more. Décor — clean, spacious, modern. Really pleasant. Food — we both had okonomiyakis. Honestly, my experience with okonomiyaki is limited. I had it twice in Japan, loved it. There aren’t that many okonomiyaki places available in Texas, but I’ve even made it myself before. I would say this place serves more home-style okonomiyaki. The cabbage is cut thick and the entire pancake is very hearty. One pancake made me very full. The best part of food, though, was the dessert — milk pudding was orgasmic. I’ve never had anything so delicious. It comes in a sauce of black honey and with ice cream on the side. The pudding itself was very, very light, but very creamy and silky. It was like a substantial creamy tofu. The pudding and sauce were 100% amazing by themselves, but for those who believe that ice cream makes everything better — why yes, it’s true. Free refills on illa coffee! Come and check this place out.
